Many application problems
I have unexpectdly quit, keyboard command issues, can't open applications, etc issues with Quark, Illustrator, QuickBooks, Photoshop, and more. I talked to Apple, they had me run tests and re-install, I still have issues and do not know what to do. It seemed I didn't have as many issues until I upgraded to 10.4.11 but now I'm stuck. I tried to go back but some software has been updraded (ie: itunes).
How did you reinstall? It seems that problems are related to using old preferences or third-party plugins. Try resetting the application preferences by trashing the old one and re-entering them, and reinstall any plugins after the update (Safari is especially touchy). You might also try installing the combo update - see this Apple support document.

Hello, I've updated the iPhone I have got I have a problem I hope you respond to some of the applications no longer work, such as the safari and skype and many applications are no longer working with the ios7.0.4
Standard troubleshooting...
1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider. Slide to power off. Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
3. Remove apps from Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
- Press the home button when done.
4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. -
Major Problem! Many Applications Unexpectedly Quitting?
I have a Mac Book that i purchased in 2009. It has ben great until the last few weeks, in which i am getting getting finder messages that say, The Application (enter one of many applications i am trying to use) quit unexpectedly. The main issues stem from this happening when i try to do a system update as well as using safari and I photo. Thanks for any quick help!
Peace, Wilmail, console, disk utility, firefox, safari and ichat and skype. Gave up at that point so there may have been more that wouldn't work. TTP opened though.

Hi all. I have been searching for days for a solution to a problem I am having with SP2013 Enterprise edition.
We recently upgraded from SP2013 Foundation to SP2013 Enterprise. After the upgrade, the search services are no longer working and we are receiving many application log entries indicating the following:
Application Server Administration job failed for service instance Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.SearchServiceInstance (ea2019ef-bb9e-4efe-85ee-5d2307406f31).

I have tried to remove the search service application and recreate it, and even though the SharePoint Central Administration states that it was created successfully, I am still getting the same errors in the log. If I go to the Search Service Application
Search Administration page, the "System Status" shows the following message:
The search service is not able to connect to the machine that hosts the administration component. Verify that the administration component '0359af35-0982-4ede-8838-b1d390e915bf' in search application 'Search Service Application' is in a good state and
try again
Additionally, under the "Search Application Topology" section, it states "Unable to retrieve topology component health states. This may be because the admin component is not up and running" which I assume is normal if the admin is not
running.
Does anyone know how I can resolve this problem?
Thanks!Hi Joaquin,
According to your description, the error occurred when you re-created the Search Service Application.
Based on the error message, I recommend to verify the things below:
1. Check if the association between the Search Service Application proxy and the web application is configured.
Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Configured service application associations > Click Default to see if the Search Service application is checked.
2. Change the app pool for the Search Service Application to SharePoint Web Services Default in the properties of the Search Service Application.
Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Manage service applications > Highlight the Search Service Application > Click Properties in the ribbon > Change
the two app pool to SharePoint Web Services Default: App Pool For Search Admin Web Service and Application Pool for Search Query and Site Settings Web Service.
3. Run PS command to check if the search admin timer job is enabled: Get-SPTimerJob
job-application-server-admin-service | fl. If it is not enabled, use PS command to enabled it and then reset Internet Information Services: Enable-SPTimerJob job-application-server-admin-service.
Best regards.
Thanks

ScottOK, well I solved my own problem by replacing this file with one from a recent TimeMachine backup. Looks like the update must have damaged this file ... strange.

Many applications keep freezing on me/ external hardrive
I have an ibook g4 running Mac OS 10.3.9. I have a 30 gb hard drive with 6 gb of space remaining. I have already downloaded the application "what size" to find out where most of my hard drive space is going-- itunes. Itunes (and nearly all of the applications I use photoshop, safari, firefox, ichat, finder, word) freeze on me when I try to do something about it. This freezing is happening very regularly. I am hoping to free up more space on my hard drive by "consolidating my library" onto a 350 gb external hard drive by Seagate. However, when ever I try to do this on itunes, itunes always freezes and I have to force quit, or if I'm lucky it will freeze for a little bit and tell me "copying music failed. the disk could not be read from or written to."
So I guess my questions are these: is there any way to make 10.3.9 less "cranky"and to know why so many applications are freezing on me? One application is only 3.8 mg big and isn't very processer demanding, but it still won't let me even open it. Opening the applications from my back up on the external drive can occasional bide me some "unfrozen" time, but it's slow and inconvienent. Is there a better way to get my itunes to the external hard drive? (If I try to copy and paste itunes into the seagate, finder freezes.)
Right now upgrading is not an option. Thank you for any one who read all of this!
ibook g4 Mac OS X (10.3.9)
ibook g4 Mac OS X (10.3.9)I just did very much the same thing, because I had very much the same problem, though with a G5. What sort of hard drive do you have (how does it coneect to your iBook?) I plug mine in with USB. I didn't try to copy iTunes as a whole to my external, what I did was go to MacHD>User>Music>iTunes>iTunes Copy THAT folder, it will move all your music without trying to put an application on an HD that has no OS. If it still won't copy to your XHD, have you formatted it for Mac? It sounds like you have already moved some stuff to it, so I am assuming so, but if not, go to disk utility (with the XHD plugged in and happening) in Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility and format it there. I would give you more step by step, however, my disk utility just froze along with Firefox, which won't even FQ. I have had it up to my ear lobes with this annoying crap.
Once I had my XHD formatted to Mac, I moved everything on to it from the system folder and user library folder, all my mailboxes individually, all my music (not apps, just music and mailboxes), and everything I wanted to keep. It took a few days, because the computer was liking to freeze up, but I got it done. Then I did a full out erase and reinstall the OS, without losing everything. I was not able to install the OS on the external, because apparently you can not boot up from an external HD with my system, although maybe some set ups you can. Because there is no OS on the XHD, I cannot move applicatinos to it, but I have all my upgrade .pkg's stored there, and I back up all my files regularly (mailboxes, calendars, music, documents) in case I should need to do it again. I have had to reinstall my software 4 times in the last year, I kid you not, and 3 of them were about a month ago. It is nice to have the back up of an XHD. Now Firefox has left me and won't Force Quit, and Disk Utility won't even admit that it is not responding!

Spinning Beachball on many applications
I am running 10.7.2 on a client computer (iMac Quad Core, 8GB RAM) with the network home directory on a 10.6.7 server. Since upgrading to lion, many applications stall when performing simple tasks (copy, paste, open, etc.). I've have numerous issues with Preview, Mail, iCal, Address Book. I'll open a file, the application will stall for about 30-60 secondsm, and then complete the task. I've repaired permissions, repaired the disk, monitored Activity Monitor, but cannot figure out the root cause. Any advice on what I can check? Are there known issues with 10.6.8 server w/ 10.7.2 client?
Please help! I have had nothing but bad luck with lion. BTW, I'm running the 10.7.2 at home with the same computer, but w/o network home directories and have many of the same problems.
Thanks,
BillOkay Guys & Dolls,
New development - I think this may have worked! I took the advice of Stanley Horwitz, and opened the Console App; I read through the strings of data that happened in the last 8 hours or so, and there were many instances of errors with the DIV X Plugin...
So, I checked in on my System Preferences, and it turned out that it was built on the 32-Bit Architecture, because when I clicked on its icon, the pane tells me that it will need to quit and close out first to reenter the 32-Bit world. So, of course, I uninstalled* that, and I also did the same with all the other old-old-old plugins in my System Preferences. Then I restarted, and it seems to (at least) be doing much better than it was...
Hopefully this will be the solution.
Give it a try, MISC_IT!
*I recommend the free program AppCleaner to do all my dirty work... -
Applications problem in 5500 Sport
Hello
I got my 5500 like a month ago, and one time I couldn't open many applications under the "My Own" menu, like the Sensor, Groov Lab, Acrobat Reader, and Snakes applications.
And at that time I had my PC infected with the Autoplay virus, the one that disables the double click on hard drives, So I thought my phone got the infection too, I formatted my PC, formatted the phone card and installed Kaspersky on the PC, and F-Secure antivirus on the phone, as well as the applications i lost in the format, like the Groove lab, Snakes, Acrobat. But I lost the Sensor and Web applications and couldn't find them on the net! this is one problem (Where can I get the Sensor application?)
Now the infection is gone, and both F-Secure and Kaspersky tell me that I'm infection-free.
BUT, 2 days ago the problem appeared again, I can't open or launch the applications I mentioned above, not by clicking the selection key, nor by selecting Options --> Open
Does anyone has a clue to what is happening?? Would be appreciated!I also have the same problem as you guys.. My case is a bit different though.. Aside from the saved applications in the memory card, the themes also return to its default theme.. I didn't have this before. However, in the FILES MANAGER, the RED COLORED APPLICATIONS can be re-installed.. That way, it'll only ask you to REPLACE the EXISTING FILE. If you click YES, all the applications that don't work wil work perfectly again..
Otherwise, never turn off your phone nor let its battery go empty. Just charge it on the second warning. -
Many small problems in Mavericks
When user experience many small problem in daily work, I feel the design is failed.
Memory management has a lot of problem, I feel my macbook is abnormal slow after I upgraded to Mavericks. Sometime, I need to wait for several sec to get what I want.
I think this problem is extreme important for OS.
When I want to start a probelm, click once, no response, click twice, pop-up 2 times after 5 sec.
Then i change my way of work, clock one time, work on other task. 5 sec later, multi desktop switch the desktop to the starting program. Then, I don't know what I was doing.
Another is sound problem, sound doesn't work sometime and need some kind of procedure to get it back.
Please don't ask me do something to solve the problem everytime when it happen. It is OS task to work it properly.
Whatever how many great feature you added is meaningless if user daily experience is bad.1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to gather information about the state of your computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it on this page. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger on a public message board. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed: Copy a line of text from this web page into the window of another application. Wait for the script to run. It usually takes a couple of minutes. Then paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in your browser, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign ($) or a percent sign (%). If you get the percent sign, enter
exec bash
in the window and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know your password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line "[Process completed]" to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report your results. No harm will be done.
8. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If it happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

What are you talking about?
Either restate the question, or post in your native language. "So i request the concerned authority to provide me RESTORE PASSWORD to improve the status of my iphone 4" Is unclear at best.

Safari 5.0 update has caused many applications/options to bring errors
Hi Guys,
I made the Safari 5.0 update yesterday on my Macbook Pro, but midway through the update, an error message appeared (I didn't catch the error code).
But when i restarted the laptop, i was unable to access Safari, Software Update, iTunes, etc etc.

I really hope you can help, I'm totally unable to do any work or access many applications.
Thanks in advance,VB --
Like baltwo said, there's something wrong with the installation.
And because Safari hasn't been able to install properly, all your other internet dependent apps are failing, as well.
Are you on a reliable ISP? One that would not have a problem with a large install?
Do you have access to another Mac?
Did you migrate from a PPC to an Intel Mac?
This crash log is from June 13th.
Do you have a more recent one??? -
Hello I am french so sorry for my English ^^
I have a tourch 9800 when I install a new application and when I want open it my phone say ( too many application loaded ). And I don't know why. Before I had a lot of application but now I just have 6. I have a lot of memori on my Bberry. Help me please. I already back up or reset. I just can install 6 application.Treyzzy wrote:

I just want to make sure I understand correctly. Have you removed your battery while your phone is powered on then replaced it a few seconds later? This won't free up any Application memory but it will free up RAM memory, which could be part of the problem.
If you haven't done so already, please perform this action and post back with your results.
- If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated. -
Many applications "unexpectedly" quitting
I've seen several other posts with the same problem, however.... When I used the computer last night all was well - this morning, not so. Many applications give the message that they have unexpectedly quit when I try to launch them. I have repaired permissions (from TTP since Disk Utility quit), have run TTP and found no problems, unplugged some peripherals (as one post indicated a bad USB hub resolved her problems) all to no avail. I cannot open console to post what that says. Any help or direction is greatly appreciated.
HBmail, console, disk utility, firefox, safari and ichat and skype. Gave up at that point so there may have been more that wouldn't work. TTP opened though.

Many applications freeze when using right-click
Since Apple changed my HDD and reinstall OSX 10.8, I have many applications (Office 2011, Skype, iMovie, etc.) which freeze when I try to use the right-click on the Magic Mouse. I even tried to use a regular mouse (USB) with the same result.
Thank you,Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.
