Many bookmarks missing going from xp to Windows 7
I Saved the following files from xp:
places.sqlite
places.sqlite-shm
places.sqlite-wal
signons.sqlite
key3.db
bookmarks-2013-12-02_3268.json
+ all files with "cookies" in it. Why I didn't copy the whole profile folder, I don't know, I'm stupid.
However, almost everything worked except 100eds of bookmarks that I had in this field: http://bayimg.com/eadDhaAFI aren't there anymore.
As I said I had lots of bookmarks there and folders too. Where have thsese gone. My places.sqlite are still as big as it was before (20mb) but these bookmarks cannot be found. How can I get them back?
When I go to "show all bookmarks" and search for bookmarks that I had in that field, it doesn't find it.
Hello,
Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks, which can be helpful if your bookmarks are lost or missing. To recover them, follow the instructions below.
#Use <u>one</u> of these methods to open the Bookmarks Library window:
#*Click the Firefox button to open the menu and click on Bookmarks.
#*Click the Bookmarks menu and click on Show All Bookmarks.
# At the top of the Library window, click the "Import and Backup" menu and select Restore.
# Click the date of the bookmark backup you want to recover.
# In the new window that appears, click OK.
# Your bookmarks from the selected date should now be restored.
For more information, see the Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer article. For other solutions, see the Recover lost or missing Bookmarks article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you.

How do I transfer all my Firefox saved passwords to my new hard drive and operating system? Going from xp to windows 7. I have the old hard drive hooked up as drive f. Can I copy and paste from old drive directory to new drive directory?
You need to copy 2 files, key3.db and signons.sqlite, from the old profile folder to the profile folder on the new computer.

This support community is a bit new for me. Have read some old entries with the same problem but couldnt see any solutions. Libray shows all the songs ( over 2500) but I cant play any of them. Message is that itunes cant find the original. ???? only difference is going from xp to windows 7 . can I put the songs from my ipod back on my computer maybe?
Go into windows explorer and find out where the music is now located - in Windows 7 you have libraries for documents, music, photos and video.
iTunes is located:
Music
itunes
iTunes Media
music
If all the files are in that place it may just be that you have to amend a preference in iTunes:
Edit
Preferences
Advanced
ensure Keep itunes Media organised and Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library are both ticked
Once ticked you will have a bit of a wait while iTunes re-organises the library but then your songs should all be playable again. -
Going from xp to windows 7 64 bit using an external drive for music storage
Greetings Techies!
I hope you all are well.
I need to move my iTunes from an XP machine to Windows 7 64 bit. On the XP machine I am using an external drive for music storage and the iTunes database is stored on the internal drive. I am looking for advice on how to transfer all of this over to my new Windows 7 64 bit machine. I know iTunes can be picky about everything and I don’t want to take and chances and loose my playlists or music.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Blessings,
paulYou are right about it being picky. I just upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 and was forced to format my drive. I had all the music backed up, but when I imported it, I have 2 or 3 copies of some songs, art work missing, and have lost my playlists. I hope someone responds to your question, because I could use similar help! Best of luck to ya . . .

How to copy photos from iphoto to windows hard drive
I wanna back up my iphoto to windows hard drive.
thanks.I share the Mac iPhotos folder \\COUNTERPWN\Pictures\iPhoto Library.photolibrary\Masters and create a shortcut on my windows desktop. If you want you can use Microsoft Synctoy and run it whenever you want to back them up. Kind of reverse order, instead of going from Mac to Windows to backup, go from Windows to Mac and back again. lol hope that made sense.
Just make sure you have File Sharing selected and Windows Sharing on in prefrence for you iPhoto folder. -
In need of help going from Windows SAP GUI to Mac/Java SAP GUI 7.20
Hi Everyone, first post...I want to thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to provide.
I got everything working except for 1 out of 6 servers I need to connect to - of course this is the most important one.
It all comes down to the conversion of saplogon.ini to the new file format, instead of using the GUI to make a list I have created 6 individual .sapc files that I run directly. I found some converters but only had so much success with them, nothing solid and 100% full proof.
I'm going to post my windows config files and maybe you can tell me why logging into this system GP8 doesn't work from my mac?
saplogon.ini (I believe it's item 4 that is the full config for the server I'm trying to connect to)

Please tell me from all the info you have here what needs to take place for me to be able to connect to GP8. Can I do it from an sapc file? Do I have to configure other core files and go to my preferences and tell SAP to look at certain configs? I'm sure someone here can help me.
Thanks so much for your time

Edited by: nstabl on Feb 27, 2012 10:07 PMHello John,
please try the "SAP GUI for Java Configuration Generator Scripts" available at http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-25456#section9 .
For using the message server to connect to GP8, the information of the port number of the message server for GP8 is missing. For direct connection to GP8, it might work to use the connection string "conn=/H/gp8001.trans.de/S/3288" .
Best regards

I had to reinstall Vista 7 OS. I have a full Windows backup of my machine, prior to the re-installation. How do I retrieve the bookmarks and passwords from the backup? I understand they're stored in various files a ".default" folder in C:\users\username\appdata\roaming\mozilla\firefox\profiles. When I try restoring the folder, the files get skipped... When I try browsing for the individual files, I don't see them!
Many thanks for your responses... After a little scouting on the web, I have found THE solution... This is all due to the way Windows 7 Backup works, and will NOT let restore apps...
("File restore in Windows7 is not designed to restore back applications. This is because the application state is spread across potentially multiple folders, files & registry. Windows7 file backup is not aware of where all the state is spread to be able to restore the entire application accurately as such information is internal to the application. Restoring application partially might corrupt the application and render the application unusable. So we do not allow restoring applications from file backup.
In case files under C:\Program Files etc. are chosen for restoring, we block restoring files from backup to such locations as it might cause the applications to not function.)
What one has to do when restoring is to NOT attempt to restore to the original location, but to select the radio button which allows you to type a path where you want the files restored and type in the path of the original location!!! Then select copy and replace...A little quirky (and tedious), but it works! -
Going from Vista 64 to Window 8. need serious instructions on how to proceed.
Computer is braking down so I`m thinking of going from Vista 64 to Windows 8 and I have no idea on how to proceed.
Can`t afford an Apple.Of course you can start over. New computer, new software, new beginning. But if you do that then you will have to start all over importing your images and making the adjustments that you have already done once. You said you have been creating catalogs (plural). If you have just one catalog, and have all your images inside of one main folder (you can have as many subfolders as you want) then switching to a new computer is simple. Put the catalog on the new computer, make sure your external hard drive has the same letter designation, install Lightroom, enter the serial number, and you should be good to go. It worked that way for me. But if you insist on starting over, just install Lightroom, enter your serial number, and go to work.

Some Bookmarks Missing from Toolbar
Recently about 1/3 of my toolbar bookmarks will not show up on the actual toolbar. When I go to Bookmarks and then Bookmarks Toolbar, the last three are missing. However, when I go to Bookmarks and then Organize Bookmarks, the missing ones still appear under the folder here. I've tried readding them to the toolbar but when I restart firefox they go missing again.
There are a couple possibilities:
# There are too many bookmarks in your toolbar, so some are hidden. (Check the dropdown menu at the end of the bookmarks toolbar to see if they're here)
# There may be a problem with the toolbar settings. Launch Firefox in Safe Mode, choose Reset toolbars and controls, and press Make changes and restart.

My brother-in-law just ordered a new iMac from the Apple store. He's leaving it up to me to get all his files transferred from the PC to the iMac. I have an external hard drive formatted for Windows that I will use for this. He has an iTunes library on his Windows PC. Can I re-create the library on his new iMac using the external hard drive?
On Apple's support site, I found an article explaining how to back up an iTunes library with an external drive, then restoring the library backup. Is this all I need to do? Will it work going from PC to iMac? Will any songs he purchased from iTunes be included in the transfer?I think you'll find all the answers you need in this article: Move iTunes from PC to MAC, http://www.macworld.com/article/146958/2010/03/moveitunes_windowsmac.html

I recently had to get a new computer. It required me going from windows xp to 7 I am trying to put it one the new computer but I get following message Windows installer could not be accessed could be in safe mode. How do I get around it? need it to charge my ipod on my computer.
I have used PCs for years, and still do at work. But, last year my wife bought me a 15" MBP with the anti-glare screen (I was getting ready to buy for myself). It took me all of 1 week to completely get used to the UI for OS-X, and now I really prefer it over the Win7 UI. I have no experience with Win8. Here are my thoughts:
1) You can get a good computer using either a Win8 machine or a Mac.
2) You will pay less for an equivalent PC. But not as much less as some would have you believe. You need to take into account the all aluminum body of the Mac (vs most PCs being plastic) and the size of the display. And, don't forget that there is a lot of bundled SW on the Mac that you will actually find useful and would have to purchase for the PC.
3) You can probably do everything you need on the PC platform with the right SW (you probably already know this since you are using one already).
That said, I think some things are easier on the Mac. For example, GarageBand is a standard part of the Mac SW installation. I got up and running recording directly from my bass into a track with a song imported from iTunes on another track in a snap. I only had to purchase a Jam adapter ($99) for the bass so I could come in over USB instead of using the audio in port (which did work, by the way). You can do the same on a PC, but you have to purchase the SW from somewhere. And, it probably isn't cheap.
I use VMware Fusion to run those Win programs I already owned because it was much less expensive to buy Fusion than to replace them.
I would not return to a PC for my own use, given a choice. But, I would be very careful about getting my wife a Mac without careful thought as she is not as tolerant of learning new things as I am.
So, there you go. -
changed to Firefox 5.0 yesterday and now need to accesss some bookmarks, but have disapeared with the Google toolbar and don't know how to get access to them. some bookmarks are there under top bookmark heading, but many are missing. how can I get back to thse that are missing please. It did say I would lose the Google toolbar, but didn't realise most bookmarks would go as well.
There is an extension to use the Google Bookmarks (included in links(

for alternatives, or a Google supplied
list of alternatives at the very bottom. -
Trying to import photos from iPhone 5, windows explorer present many icons of local disks which cannot be deleted
for some reason there are many folders in the iPhone for picturesI have been having the same issues with my devices (iphone4s & Ipad and Ipad mini) NOT importing photos to my PC via windows 7. Too be honest, i am sick and tired of looking for a fix. I have spent days on this and now realise via forums that this issue is widespread. (deja vu - remember notes vanishing?)
I have tripled checked everything but the platform just simply does not work.
So, i will get offered various 'hunches' as to how to fix this...but hold on..after paying over £1,000 for the equipment why should i have to go find a fix...basically ...yet again...Apple products not delivering what they promise and are flawed. Gather im pretty p**sed about this...you betya...will i buy Apple again...?? take a guess.
