Many Flash vector objects on a page slows down responsiveness to freezes (Windows 8 IE 10 Flash 11)
Hello, I use Windows 8 Pro x64 on my Core 2 Quad, Internet Explorer 10 (desktop mode) with Flash 11.7.700.169.
When I'm on site with Flash vector animations which use some input controls (i.e. I can manipulate objects in the Flash frame with my mouse) it seriously slows down IE (scrolling, text input) down to freezes. It doesn't matter whether mouse pointer is over the Flash or somewhere else on the page but the more Flash frames on the page - the greater speed drops. CPU consumption by iexplorer.exe process on that pages is constantly around 25-40%.
Disabling Flash avoids the issue.
I did a clean install twice so it doesn't look like a specific installation issue. In Modern IE this is less noticeable but still persist.
Moreover, on the same machine I previously had Windows 7 Professional x64 with Internet Explorer 10 and Flash ActiveX 11.7.700.202 and did not experience that kind of problems.
I have tried Chrome and Firefox with the Flash plugin of the latest version and they were fine - no noticeable lags or freezes.
I did some more research and replaced ActiveX Flash files (Flash.ocx, FlashUtil_ActiveX.dll, FlashUtil_ActiveX.exe) both 32 and 64 bit with that from Windows 7 and then vector flash objects on the page did not show up but streamed objects worked well. I replaced Flash.ocx with Windows 8 version and vector ads showed up but lags came back as well.
Finally I replaced all files of version 11.7.700.202 with files of version 11.5.502.146 and suddenly they worked very well - no lags or freezes, smooth scrolling etc.
So the question now is how to deal with further Flash updates for Windows 8? Is there any way to find out what is the cause of lags and freezes in version 11.7.700.202 for IE on my Windows 8 machine?
My current config:
Core 2 Quad 9550 @ 2.83
GeForce GTX 580
8Gb RAM
256Gb SSD
Windows 8 Pro x64 + NVidia driver 320.18 + Flash 11.7.700.202
I.e. the page that causes huge slowdowns - www.stopgame.ru
<sigh> Try asking your question on a forum for the Flash Player - this one is for Director's Shockwave Player

Database slow down happeing for aperticular window
Hi,
For last few days we are having a issue with database slow down for a perticular window .We took the awr and ash report for that window and it shows the db file sequential read takes more time for aperticular query. But the same query works fine for rest of the day, so how we find the issue happend at that perticular window?
ThanksHi ,
there is not a single query running for that window, multiple sessions are running which are exceuting various queries.
Here is the AWR report for that window( due to size i could past only first half of thw awr report)

mid 2007 iMac 2.4GHZ. after start up the iMac will slow down to a freeze. Specially while on internet (youtube).

MacBook Pro slowed down and now will not start up- flashing symbols on start screen.
I am increasingly worried about my MacBook Pro. It had been slow for a few weeks (I think it may be infected with some kind of malware), slowed down even more, and then a couple days ago when I turned it on it flashed a question mark folder, a prohibitory sign, and the apple logo on the startup screen and will not go past that. I followed the instructions on an apple help page for this issue- Nothing connected to it; I even removed the apple power cord. I tried a safe boot. I reset the NVRAM. It said to try starting up from an OS install disc, but my computer did not come with one. Here's the bit where I'm not sure if I made a stupid decision; another site said that the computer will download a recovery partition if there is no install disc, so I booted while holding down C even though I had no disc. I then read that holding option on startup will allow you to choose which disc to start from- I did that, and the only option displayed is a disc called Recovery (with a number after it that I think was 10.something, presumably referring to the OS version). Does this mean I have lost access to my computer's Macintosh HD? Have my files been lost? Unfortunately I do not have them backed up. Bad decision on my part.
Thanks for the quick response.
Command-option-r does take me to a screen with a spinning globe. Below the globe is a drop-down menu from which to select a wi-fi network. My network, however, is not listed. (I am now sitting right by the router, and my iPhone is on the wifi without any problem.) I go instead to manually type it in. I have triple checked the network name and password. I have used both the WEP key, which I have always used, and something that the sticker on the router refers to as the Mac ID, which is the WEP but with two zeros before it. Still the screen shakes as if I have entered the wrong password. I'm not sure what's going on now. -
Every time I use the Flash plug-in (for videos on YouTube or PutLocker or whatever), FireFox just slows down a lot and even freezes. It happens very often now and it's really annoying.
By the way, I am using a gaming laptop so I am not sure why I am having these problems. My Flash plug-in and firefox are updated to the latest versions, too.
My specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHZ (8 CPUs)
nVidia GTX 560m 3GB vRAM dedicated
16GB RAMOkay, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it. That helped only for about ten minutes and it started doing it again.
I don't know what else to do. :S -
Too many rows in collection cose Siena rapidly slowing down
Is this a know issue? If I add more than 1000 rows in collection so the siena start to rapidly slowing down. I don't know If I will have this problem in published app or this is just a sienna issue? Thanks for answers
I believe for example in the Excel Microsoft has currently set the limit on 15000 records.
Have you checked if it's faster if you use loadData SaveDate and create the collection from the file in the appspace. That may speed things up too (maybe). My post in

Itunes slows down my computer with windows XP
When Itunes is on it uses almost 95pct of the UC making slowing down or even stopping all processes working at the moment. It is the new 6.0.1.3 version downloaded on c:\ drive and all my playlist is located on an externat hard drive. Any idea ?
Thank you
dell Windows XPDo you have a lot of temp files (each 15 Mo) created
by itunes on your "my music" folder on "my document"
on you c/ hard drive ? It appears in my case that my
computer is slow because for each song itunes created
theses files. I don't why and wait a reply (I post
another topic on this subject).
Like I posted before, this is almost always the result of your virus scanner. Those temp files happen because you virus scanner grabs the files before iTunes is done with them. Stop your virus scanner from scanning that directory or those files and your problem will go away. -
Why is this page slowing down in Internet Explorer ?
The swapping of images is so slow on this page. Is this the SwapImage() function in Dreamweaver ? The reason I am asking is that all other browsers tackle this very well. So, if somebody has any idea why this is so I would appreciate it sooooooo much....

It's a funny thing. I tried on both IE8 and 9 with slow swapping. A few minutes ago I uninstalled internet Explorer, and when I restarted, IE8 was still there, but now the swapping is fast and smooth...
Sorry for this, I can't provide much of an explanation....
Thanx -

IPhoto freezing...slowing down iMac; Also freezing other software
Anyone having this issue. I constantly get the "color wheel of death" and when I do force quit, it says "Not Responding" for iPhoto and any other software I have open. Thanks!
Gully:
Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. If that doesn't help enough try what I suggest to David.
David:
Try rebuilding the library as follows: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
Also go into your User/Library/Caches folder and delete any folder with iPhoto in the name.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file. -

Shockwave flash object add-on slowing down Internet Explorer
Hi Greetings for the day. Have you guys ever heard that the Shockwave flash object add-on is slowing down IE? I noticed this happens in all IE versions and it doesn't matter which OS you are using. I am a technician myself and I work for AT&T Connectech and experienced this issue on different computers a hundred times at least. With the shockwave add-on enabled, IE will take more than 5-10 minutes just to load Google website or it will not at all. The cursor will just keep spinning. If we go to add-ons and disable Shockwave Flash Object, everything will load as it is supposed to.
However, if we disable shockwave add-on, the user will no longer be able to play any online videos or do anything that required flash player. I have tried reinstalling Adobe Flash Player with its different versions and none helped. Sometimes, downgrading the Internet Explorer would correct the problem. In most instances it too failed. If you guys have any information on this and how to resolve it, please mail me. Thanks and regards
Jins Joseph

[removed]Pat and Mike, thank you for your responses. This issue look strange to me as well! No, there are no processes taking much space. In most cases, the CPU usage will be less than 15-20%. In few instances, I noticed svhost is taking more space. Still, IE could not load any websites. I mentioned that Google thing since even if Google doesn't require flash, it still takes for ever to load with the flash addon enabled.
I started to notice this almost an year ago. What we would do is either disable shockwave addon and educate the user about the same and install another browser for backup. -
All vector objects darken anytime I make a new object or change opacity.
I use InDesign regularly but am not that technical with it yet. I'm having a problem where when I make a vector shape, all other vector objects on the page suddenly appear about 20% darker. It's really strange. The same problem has happened when I try to adjust the opacity of an object. I select the object, and as soon as I set the opacity below 100% everything on the page gets darker.
This problem does not effect photos. The problem does effect objects on different layers. So even if I reduce the opacity of an object on the bottom layer, things on the top layer will darken.
Needless to say this problem is making it pretty much impossible to get anything accomplished. It seems to only be happening with certain documents, as sometimes it doesn't happen at all.
Thanks for any help.

You don't appear to support leap seconds (of which there can be upto 2 in any time interval)
http://www.timeanddate.com/time/leapseconds.html
Some of your code will not work for large dates very well (seems to iterate over the years). Try using your date class for astronomical or geological calculations. them big numbers will make your code slow at the moment.
You don't seem to support timezones or transitory offsets (BST vs GMT). You most definately don't handle changes to timezone offsets that have occured in the past or historical daylight savings time offsets (they have not always been the same)
The difference between two calendars is a "duration" a duration means nothing unless it is applied to a caledar/date (although you may be able to get away with it if the duration is always stored in millis) -
System slows down after installing AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001
my macbook's internet related performance has been significantly slowed down recently. i have windows xp installed on my mac from where i can compare the performance of ie and safari or ie and firefox on mac. the result is ie on windows xp is much faster. the wireless connection is even more reliable and has more signal strenth under windows. these "slow" situations of mac only happens recently, and the only thing that i can think of to mark the change is the installation of AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001. please advise what i can do to bring back the good performance of mac. (i.e.:if i type in www.google.ca in the address bar of safari, the blue bar will just be stuck around "http://" for a long time before the simple page gets loaded while the status bar of safari is showing contacting google.ca)
Same scenario here, though I'm running 10.4.9. on a Mac Pro. I've tried every known fix, but Safari still stalls every few minutes - taking upwards of a minute to continue loading whatever page I was browsing to.
Other apps, including Mail, Firefox, and Remote Desktop screen sharing aren't affected - I can ping away without issue while Safari is choking, and there is no unusual Safari CPU consumption in Activity Monitor
Mac Pro Mac OS X (10.4.9)
