Hi everyone :
I want to discuss a issue as follow with all :
Precondition : The SSO had done between Portal and R/3.
Issue : Many Portal user(vendor) mapping one R/3 user(pulic vendor user),when they logon Portal, they can query the report, but the data was for the vendor logon now !

Dear Forum,
I want our users to be able to reset their own password in our portal solution (NW7.01). I tried to add "pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/general/com.sap.portal.eu_role" but it gives too many options, users should not be able to change their name only password. I thought about changing UME parameters "UME Manage_My_Password
UME Manage_My_Profile" But I am in doubt where to change this in VA. I guess some security settings also apply (lenght, digits, capital letters etc) which should be in the security tab?
I hope someone can elaborate.

Hi Manoj,
UME parameters are in visual admin of the java stack - not sure if this was what you were asking. i was hoping that there was a parameter I could set which would apply a additional button on login screen where you could reset your password, or maybe do it from the portal / personal settings yourself.
I am not much into programming web dynpro tools, so I think ill try to see if I could find a way to enable "forgot your password?" on the login page where you can mail a new password for yourself.

Authorizations for users to change their own data

All the employees are given the userids to logon to sap when these employees log on to sap with the particular userids they should be able to change /Display only the details pertaining to them not others
We have not implemented ESS but this is in pipeline but only after 3 -4 months But Authorizations are required for users now only
How to design role which should apply to all user requirements and they should get their Personnel no by default

   For your requirement goto transaction SU21 and select the object P_PERNR and click DOCUMENTATION. Refer the Documentation for the steps to be followed.
(i.e) For a user to be able to maitain his or her own data. You should assign the user an authorization for the HR: Master data - Personnel number check object (P_PERNR), with the following specificatons:
1. Authorization level: *
2. Interpretation of assignment
   User - personnel no: I
3. Infotype           : 0002
4. Subtype            : *

The link that you've shared talks about a different scenario.
In my case, I want to pass the portal user id when the user clicks on the Help Link present in the header area.
I am trying to pass it along with the Help Link Url property of a masthead iview but it is not getting passed to the target Url.
I would like to know if it is possible to pass the Portal User Id in this way or not.
Though if we create a appintegrator iview and pass the user id <User.UserID> along with the target Url, it reaches there.

Where can i find BP "Portal User" and "Communication"??

I have imported Business Package for mySAP CRM 4.0 (60.2) on EP 6.0 according to the installation guide and now i have started with the "Administration of the Business Package for SAP CRM 4.0 60.2" and in there it says that as a pre-requisite i must have imported "Portal User" and "Communication" business packages. I tried to search for these in SDN but no luck. Where else can i find these business packages? Thanks.

as far as I know both BPs have been discontinued.
The pure CRM 4.0 functionality is not comprised by the missing packages.
Some features of the "Home" tab may not work properly...

Is it possible to allow user to change their own password when logged onto a portal applicastion I have written ?

Presumably, the application you say you have written, is a Login Server partner application. So changing the user's password means changing it on the login server.
The URL that you need to go to, to do this, is something like: http://server.domain.com/pls/portal30_sso/portal30_sso.wwsso_app_user_mgr.change_password?p_done_url=xxxxx
Where xxxxx is the URL where you want control to go after the user submits their new password.

Any list or search will always query the database regardless of volume. For example, a user has access to just 1 account record. This record could be one of 10 million other account records. To allow the user to see this record, the entire account pool will be queried. That's where indexes help and queries are really fast.
Turning off search is not the solution. Ensuring queries are optimized is the solution. For example, manager visibility always slows down the search because the nature of a manager visibility search requires compex search patterns. So you could turn off manager visibility for your company and use alternate means like books. Manager visibility search is a feature that's primarily used by small-to-medium-business (SMBs). Large enterprises should never use it.

The clear implication of the OP's question and response was that users would not be allowed to change their own passwords. I'm guessing this is in response to a policy that says users mustn't have simple passwords like 123abc or mom. In such a scenario a better approach would be to apply regexp to a user's password to ensure it contains a mix of letters, numbers, punctuation, etc to achieve the desired level of complexity.
So questions, should not be regarded as daft Agreed, but the same is unfortunately not always true of business decisions. As the OP has told us not to ask we cannot know why they want to do this. Personally, I think a user's individual password should always be their responsibility; anything else strikes me as insecure. YMMV.

Allow user to edit their own Address Book server entry

Hiya.
I'm looking for a way to let users edit their own information in the Address Book Server/Open directory. I've made sure the main group for users is in the AB Read-Write Groups group in WGM.
I've even checked the box in Server Admin that says "Allow users to edit their own contact information", but after adding the account to an address book client and authenticating as a user (For example, myself), I can't edit my own contact info anywhere that will push to the server.
Is there any way to do this?

Using the PDF printing features in APEX 3.x and BI Publisher, you can create professional looking report designs with no programming knowledge, simply by using the built-in wizards of the BI Publisher Word Plug-In, and a little knowledge of how to use MS Word. The nice thing about using the Word Plug-In is that even the end users of your APEX applications could potentially do this. The only problem is, that typically those report layouts are stored under the Shared Components of your application, and end users generally don't have access to the Application Builder, all they typically use is your APEX application. So then why not simply add an interface to your APEX application that lets your end users upload their own layouts and dynamically link them to APEX report queries at runtime? I put together a sample application that demonstrates this technique, you can try it out on apex.oracle.com or download the application and try it on your own APEX instance. How to configure security so users can delete their own file(s)?

I have configured our file server so that all users can write/modify in any other user's folder. However, it seems that they cannot delete their own file(s) in another user's folder. Do I have to give all users the "Modify" but not Full permission
so that every user can delete their own file or folder even if it's in another user's folder? I still do not want user A to delete/modify any files/folders that user B originally created.
Any help is much appreciated.

Based on my research, if a user can rename a file/folder, then he/she can save it using the original name, there is no way to prevent this via permission assignment.
You may need to use scripts to achieve this.

Here delete means truncate or drop?????
If drop use the following statement to generate the script:
select 'drop table ' || Owner || '.' || Table_Name || ';' from Dba_tables
where owner in (<All_the_users_you_want_to_reset>);
But before firing the above statement extract the DDL's to create all the users and put it in a file and just run that file to re-create the users.
if its truncate then:
select 'truncate table ' || Owner || '.' || Table_Name || ';' from Dba_tables
where owner in (<All_the_users_you_want_to_reset>);

Any possibility to assign a user to maintain his own data in SU01

For all the developers we have assigned only display view to SU01. Can we give them access to su01 to change their own data (Only tabs Address, Logon Data and Tabs should be changeable. Tabs Roles, Profiles ahould not be changeable becoz. they can assign SAP_ALL).
Is there any way to do this?

I am confused how to restrict SU01 and provide only SU3 transaction..For the Authorization object "S_USER_TCD" which is under BASIS: ADMINISTRATION i have given *, even if i restrict here i think it won effect...could you pls. guide me how to restrict?

Yes. I would clarify your statement about the "shared" iTunes Library though. If you want each iOS device to have its own music library, you should create separate user accounts for them. Read:

Should my family share one apple id or each have their own? I want to be in control of the id and password since my kids are 10 and 12.

Personally I would give them their own ID each because you'll end up syncing all of your data onto their phones if you share one.
This way you can set individual passwords for their IDs and therefore have control so that they can't go on an itunes spending spree (if that is a concern).
As soon as you feel they can do as they please with their phones just tell them their passwords or allow them to change it. This way they can do their own thing with minimal fuss.
