Many problems with SL

In the recent days I had many problems after upgrading to Snow.
Some involve 3rd parties software.. some Mac OS
Adobe Softwares seem to have some problems. In particoluar I work with Premiere and it continuosly hangs (turning wheel). Generally it seems much slower and, ie, my external HDMI card is become unusable.
In Mac OSX I find some problems. When I open a folder sometimes Finder hangs.. You see an empty folder for 30 seconds or so. On the bottom right there is a wheel turning and finally, only after some time, contents of folder appear. If I have to open a subfolder.. again... it hangs.. on and on.
Sometimes the OS seems stuck.. CPU is at 1 or 2% but it all seems stuc.
I upgraded to SL from Leopard hoping to get a faster and more stable OS but now sometimes it seems impossible to do anything!

Thanks but the link you gave me is about CS3. I have CS4 (latest) that it is supposed to be fully compatibile with Snow .. But on Adobe forums many people have the same problems.
My external output video card is Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro. I downloaded from their site SL drivers and the card is ok on other softwares. The problem is Adobe..
... but still Snow is giving me problems alswhere.. like.. as I said.. the finder.

I have listed many problems with the 'Export to Text' (.txt) function of CR Xi.
These problems are related to this export format only (meaning everything works fine in the Viewer or in the 'Export to PDF')...
- Multi-columns layout do not export as Multi-column (export only a one column);
- Numeric values with parenthesis for negative values or with a fix currency sign at the leftmost position are not exported correctly;
- Fields having a Suppress formula which is "WhilePrintingRecords" do not appears when exported;
- Fields with 'Suppress double value' checked are not always suppressed when exported to Text.
- 'Keep Group Together' flag is not working.
- 'Reset Page Number After' simply does not works when exported to text;
- 'Keep object together' on TextBox/Section is not working.
- Whenever a group is ending on the last line of a page, the the following page as the same Group header as the previous group with no records until the page is filled, then the PageBreak and PageHeader is missing but the records of the following group appears.
I would like to know what is the status of the 'Export to Text' function (is it a deprecated function not supported anymore???).
If still supported, when will these bugs be fixed???

Export to Text is supported till date. Crystal Reports 2008 also supports this with Keep together working however when I tried with format with multiple columns, it didnot show up in the exported text file.

I don't think that a software update from Apple will solve the issues that you are having. You have a rogue installation. After you posted I have just done the following:
Disk Utility can verify my partitioned Volume (including my boot disk) AND REPAIR the non-boot disks on the same Volume without a glitch. It repairs the non-boot disks containing data smoothly.
I have used Mail to send some mails from some Yahoo and Hotmail accounts to my Thunderbird client containing GMail accounts - absolutely normal.
I have iLife '09 but my iMovie '09 and iPhoto '09 open in a jiffy and I see no issues here. I have 6GB RAM (Maximum) on an early 2008 Macbook Pro with a 750GB hard drive partitioned with 120GB reserved for the Boot Drive.
I am sorry that I cannot help further but I am sure there must be a way to reinstall the software without having to revert to restoring your ML backup. I have two clones and if you have such I would attempt to do that through that rather than through Time Machine - that is of course if you have a cloned drive.

Many problems with iPhone 3gs.

I've been having so many problems with my iPhone 3gs in the past few days, These things aren't cheap, and money is tight. For about 2 days, My home button, speaker, microphone, and charge port (On the iPhone) Would not work whatsoever, I have been asking on just about every website with the word Apple in it, trying to diagnose what's wrong with it. I tossed it from the roof of a Sedan, A careless mother left her young child in the carseat on the roof, and as I ran to grab it, It slipped out of my hand. Not too bad of a toss, No cracks on the screen, But I couldn't do a Hard Reset, Or put it in DFU Mode. So after hours and hours of plugging in different cords, plugging those diferrent cords into different computers, and wall chargers, and even buying a new wall charger for 40$! I get a small glitch of battery charge. But now, It will only charge when the iPhone completely dies, and then it will charge to 5% and repeat (If i'm lucky). I basically have a 200$ Paperweight. The iPhone doesn't have a warranty anymore, And i'm not looking to spend hundreds to get it fixed, I never opened it, and it has never been Jailbroken. I can't restore it because when I put it into Recovery Mode, It still wasn't getting recognized by the computer. I just want my iPhone fixed, or at least a replacement, I used this for just about everything, I can't even create a backup file of my data. The iPhone is not only Unrecognized by iTunes, But it's as if the Charging Port in the iPhone isn't even there! There is no damage to the Charge Port itself, But around the case area is a crack from the fall. Please get back to me ASAP! This is a huge inconvenience!

Well, just so you understand, you are not addressing Apple here. We are users just like yourself that try to answer technical questions from other users. It appears as though the fall has created numerous hardware issues for the phone, that is why you cannot seem to get the phone to restore or get it to be recognized in iTunes. Since the phone is out of warranty, you have two choices. You can take the phone to the local Apple Store and see about an Out of Warranty (OOW) replacement. This is for phones that are out of warranty and do not work. OOW for a 3GS would run $149/USD here in the US. Not sure if that is where you are or not. The second choice is to Google for a 3rd party repair facility and see if they can fix it and what they would charge. The rest is up to you.

Having network profiles is causing so many problems with applications

Perhaps someone could explain this to me, because i must be doing something wrong.
We have 10.4.6 client machines, and a 10.4.6 server. They login and their profiles are on the server and accessed via AFP, ok all is well there.
But ever since Tiger (Panther never had this problem) having network profiles causes so many problems with applications. Here are just some examples:
1. MS Office 2004 programs will sometimes say all the system fonts are corrupted when they are not. The only way to fix this is to log the user out and delete the Microsoft preferences folder from their network profile from the server. Doing it from the client doesn't work unless you get them to logon in safe boot.
2. Office 2004 will also randomly not save documents or autorecovery files, claiming that "too many files are open" or that the disk is full, when their profiles have 100s of megabytes left.
3. Safari will randomly stop working. When you load up Safari it will load up websites all distorted, and then eventually give up and force quit. The only way to fix this is...again deleting the Safari preferences from the server whilst the client is logged off.
4. Adobe Photoshop files will randomly corrupt, causing "End of file" errors when files are opened.
Now i've narrowed it down to the basic fact that the clients are using network profiles via AFP. I've experimented them logging onto the server and using local profiles and the programs all work perfectly. My setup is exactly the same as it was on Panther, and panther had none of these problems.
Surely i am not the only one who is experiencing this?

Do you have the "Inherit Permissions" option via POSIX access enabled for the home directory share point? If so, disable it, as home directories need standard POSIX permissions.
I've seen some problems with third-party applications - namely Adobe CS2 - when using network homes mounted via AFP. Others have reported problems with Office 2004. There are other oddities, even observable in the Finder, mostly due to changes that enabled metadata (Spotlight) for AFP. However, never have I seen Apple applications like Safari not work correctly with network homes; thus, there might be another problem here.
I'd check the filesystems for all volumes on the server using Disk Utility and repair any damage found.
You may want to consider using Portable Homes for better compatibility with Office 2004 (unfortunately).

I had the same problem last night. Boot into OSX and reboot the router - fine. Boot into Windows and wrong. Here were my fixes:
Firstly, I kept all the settings on my router solid. Just leave them as they are. Boot into OSX and check the Network settings and make a note of your IP address and the router's IP address.
Second, boot into Windows, then open up your wireless connection settings and navigate through to the properties where you can set the IP address.
Third: Set the IP address to your routers IP address changing the last set of digits to a value between 5 and 255 (I have 8 devices so I set the last two digits to 10.) This will keep the IP static.
Tab through the Mask settings to default those.
Then set the default gateway to your router's IP address.
Check that the Network Adapter's setting has IPv6 disabled (uncheck the box)
Finally: Set the primary DNS server to 8.8.8.8 then the secondary to 8.8.4.4 and then reboot the router.
That's what got my connection running.

Hi everybody out there using Mac Pro's early 2008,
I found out there is a lot of problems with the early 2008 Mac Pro.
My early 2008 Mac Pro has been repaired ones under warranty and now it stopped working again ! Also see under: Mac Pro early 2008 no chime and does not start up. Why is this ????
It worked well for about 2 years and then it just fails and i had this failing issue twice already !!! Is this just a BAD Apple product or how do you think I need to approach this. Let’s face it, these machine don’t come cheap and you at least expect them to work without problems for 4-5 years. What is happening here ???

How can i downgrade to bootcamp 3.1? I have many graghic problems with bootcamp 3.2. such as black screen and kernel resetting also fan almost permanent working and high temperature. all of them after installing bootcamp 3.2 on my windows 7(64).

I updated my graphic driver and the kernel resetting seems to be solved. but fan working is still unsolved.
after installing bootcamp 3.2, whenever I open an Internet page with flash clips in there or watch even a low quality movie, fan start working hard. I updated flash player and other plugins but nothing happens.

Many problems with DINC2

I traded in my Blackberry for this Droid and now I'm questioning my decision. So many issues with this new phone and how ironic that in today's LA Times, there's a two page full color ad for how fast the new Droids are.
Right now, I don't care how fast the thing is. I just want proper reception, full bars signal, and fewer dropped calls. It is SO frustrating! It keeps switching among 3G, 1X and bars and then no bars, all while I'm standing with it in one place.
I use a lot of the other features, fine. But when it comes to using it AS A PHONE! I'd appreciate it to work properly. I even have a network extender at home and it still doesn't make a difference.
The phone is under the warranty period. Should I just return it and go back to the Blackberry?

I'm convinced the signal/reception problem people are experiencing with the DINC2 is a result of poor antenna design. If it's a hardware/design issue, a software update won't help, not even doing a *228 a thousand times.
This issue has been reported on many, many other cell phone forums.

Many Problems with Ipod! Need Help =[

Ey um there has been lots of issues with my Ipod!! (5th gen 30gigs)
Conditions:
-Ipod skips songs when playing(the songs arn't corrupted)
-Ipod freezes occasionally when viewing photos or playing music
-Ipod at times wont show on itunes 7
-When Ipod has connected to computer, and shown in Itunes, Itunes call my Ipod “Ipod” when it is supposed to be called “RnA”(and it won’t restore…Either my computer freezes or it would go on 4evr but not restore)
-When trying to turn on Ipod, a msg appears “Use Itunes to restore” When I plug and connect to Itunes, It says This Ipod needs to be reformatted for your pc. ( when I press update, my computer freezes, or would take forevr…and not update
-When I try to restore my Ipod my computer freezes or it would take forevr but not work
My questions:
-I bought my Ipod during the summer, and it was bought online from my dad, but he accidentally threw receipt away…Can I still replace my Ipod? Or find repairs?

What Happened:
Ok, last month, my Ipod was working perfectly until one day it froze… So I reset it. But after a few days when I connect my Ipod to my computer, it charges and everything is fine, but when I click disconnect Ipod on Itunes, or Disconnect when using Safely Remove Hardware…It works but then my Ipod still says Do not disconnect. But I disconnected it anyway and reset it. And it was working. And I have been having this problem a lot wen I updated to Itunes 7.
Then 2-3 weeks later, my Ipod started having many problems… It would skip songs even though my songs aren’t corrupted… And when I look at photos, It would freeze for around 20 seconds, and my Ipod turns laggy. So I reset it and it’s ok but then it happened again the next day. And these problems kept going on but I ignored it T.T
And now, I can’t use my Ipod at all! It says I need to use itunes to restore…So when I connect it to my computer, It would appear on Safely remove hardware, but Itunes would pop up and have no Ipod in it. So I tried disconnecting and reconnecting around 5 times. Then it worked! Except, Itunes call my Ipod “Ipod” wen it is supposed to be called RnA. And I try to restore it but it wont work! Please help me! ASAP! T.T and thanks!

Please don't shake it. It has a hard drive in it and by doing that you may damage the heads. That is the clack noise the heads hitting the platter. Not a good thing.

Many problems with my iMac...

So i think what happened is when i moved i was waiting for my Internet to transfer on centurylink so i was using my apartments horrible wifi until then. Well after about 2 days of using it my computer started to have many problems, one it wouldn't recognize anything that's put into any of the USB ports until i restart it and then plug what ever it is in again. Second it started today that I couldn't open anything on my mac, so i figured i would just do a fresh install of the whole operating system, so i got out my wired keyboard connected it held option while booting and going into recovery partion, then selecting disk ultil and wiping the Macintosh HD section then i plugged into Ethernet (my Internet was transferred today) and went to go download and install OS X mountain lion. Well theres many things that'll happen now, one it will not work and give me an error and tell me to call apple care. Two it will start to download but when it gets to about 75% done itll bump the time remaining to download it up to 2 hours and 9 min and stay there. Well i finally got it to install now and im running the system but im going to download OS X mountain lion from the app store then put it to a disk and do a complete fresh install and use my older time machine backup to put back on it (its a backup from before i moved). Anyway's what could of happened to this, like i don't wanna go to an apple store as my nearest one is 30 miles away and i don't want this to happen again. By the way i have a 21.5-inch, Mid 2011 iMac. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Make the call and setup the appointment before your AppleCare runs out!
Also, have them go over and test the entire iMac before your AppleCare runs out to see if any problems surface.
You can have this all done and taken care of under one AppleCare incident.

Is there any way you can pay dor the the extended 3-year coverage?
That's why I tell users to budget for the extended coverage through the first year of ownership.
There are a lots of issues with the previous generation of iMacs.
You WILL have something go wrong that will cost you a lot more than the $250 for the extra two years of warranty coverage. What will you do then if that happens in the next few years?

Many Problems with iTunes

Recently, I have purchased a new external DVD / CD burner to replace my faulty one in my Dell Laptop. After updating to the latest version of itunes, I have encountered many problems.
1 - I cannot burn a CD. Whenever i create a playlist and attempt a burn, it will read the playlist, start to initialize, then the hazard sign in the top right corner closes, the disc ejects, and it says "An Unknown Error Has Occured (2122)" This happens on every attempt, both trying to burn purchased music or music i've already imported onto itunes.
2 - I cannot import a CD or play a CD. When I put a CD into my drive, itunes will recognize it and go get the track names, but then when i try to play the tracks, it just skips down the list one by one, and no audio comes out. When trying to import songs, it'll import then rapidly (one after another, obvious that it didn't work) and then they have no length in my Library.

hmmm. some people have been reporting success with the 2122/2212s when they change their Windows autoplay settings:

Many problems with MSI Control Center

have a lot MSI mobo
I still P45 & P45 Diamond Memory lover.
the problem of their old dual core center was that sometimes bug "debug assertion failed" came ..
but now I have 5 mobo 1155:
msi Z77
msi b75
msi z68
msi H67
msi h61
in all of these motherboards, the start of the OS, the latest version of control center never keeps the settings that I have saved as a "default"!
for example, the Z77 does not maintain the memory for the fan cpu, while fan1 & fan2 are active, but not to the minimum value that I had memorized ..
the z68 instead only stores the value of the cpu fan
the H67 does not store anything ..
and also the other way!
indicted versions of MSI CC are those where the adjustment of the fans is not only numeric, but also with the graph ..
I seem to recall that older versions of CC II without the graphics did not have so many problems in the management of the fans (but I'm not sure about this)
I do not know if I'm wrong something in the settings of the BIOS, or the software itself!
and I wonder if the ControlCenter has a bug so big, that users do not make a mass protest to the manufacturer directly!
I hope you can help me positively.
I am very disappointed with this software MSI, I would be a little desire to leave my beloved brand ...

p.s. I can understand for the "old" h61/h61, but it is absurd that the Z77 motherboards & b75 does not have control of all the connectors on the PCB Tachometer & PWM ... not to mention the z68 should be the most valuable of all
(as opposed to other manufacturers that optimize much better implementation "fan control")

optional S / W is part of the motherboard itself, while SpeedFan is a third-party utility ... the situation is the same..

I with 7 Mobo MSI + 6 VGA MSI I can say I devoted customer, and always recommendMSI products to all around..
all software MSI are good, afterburned, video genie, fast boot, and also the ControlCenter II for the management of the cpu and ram is good software!
my anger is that there is only this damn small bug in the software fan control, and I do not understand that the manufacturer and users (inside and outside the forum) do nothing to have a solution!

Many Problems with pearl flip

intermittent: no ring, no vibrate, dropped calls, flipping networks, typing erratic, slow dial, slow wifi, can't change from letters to numbers when typing, too many problems,,,, got to get rid of this, I need to have a reliable cell phone to keep in touch with my business.
I even tried calling my blackberry ( sitting next to me) from the landline phone on my desk, and it went to answer machine and did not ring.
I have to keep changing the network setting to manual to keep on Rogers, but I live on the border and when I move around near the border, I have to keep changing back to automatic so it will pick up calls.
A BIG NUSIANCE !
I thought blackberry was the best.... I was wrong.

before all of this started, was any software installed or removed ?
and before the bios was updated, was the unit freezing less or more ?
