Many PSD files into small JPGs in one command?  Can this be done?

Greetings group,
I have 20 or so PSD files that I want to downsize and send to a client for an OK.  I would like to know if i can do this in one command instead of one at a time.  Is this possible and how do you do it?
Many thanks,
Tim Bradley

  • Want to store music files on a removable storage device..can this be done?

Hello! I am not a very technical person so please bear with me! My computer is a work issued computer so I cannot store personal files on it including music files. I have an external storage device that can hold all my music, but I don't know how to set it up to where iTunes links these files to the music in my library. I know how to import a folder/files into the iTunes library and I have done this many times, but when I close out of iTunes and then open it back up, it does not recognize/link any of files - and yes, I do have the external storage device hooked up! Can this be done? And if so, can someone please tell me how to do so?
    Many, many thanks!!
    Attessa

Remove the USB drive. Delete all the entries currently in the library.
Look in Preferences and make sure the music library is pointing to your *work computer hard drive.*
Make sure the preferences for "Keep..." and "Copy..." are both not checked.
Insert the USB drive. Add all the songs to your library. They should play.
Remove the drive. After a while reconnect it. Do they play OK now?

  • How to import a PSD file into Indesign WITH layers so it can be edited/saved as an InDesign file?

How to import a Photoshop file into Indesign CS6 so that it's layers show in InDesign and it can then be edited/saved as an InDesign file?

    MyTienN wrote:
Someone had mentioned the possibility of saving each individual layer in Photoshop as a png file and importing into Indesign and adjusting it in there
What do you mean by "adjust"? Editing of Photoshop images should be done in Photoshop.
Sure, it's possible to save individual layers from an image in Photoshop as inidvidual files in a variety of formats, but what's the point? You could just as easily import the layered file, then copy/paste it into a new layer for each layer in the image and use layer visibility to control which ones show. I don't think that will do you a lot of good, though, if you use adjustment layers or opacity controls on the layer in Photoshop.

  • I want to combine several libraries on several drives into one library, Can this be done?*

I have several itunes libraries and playlists on several drives and directories.  Is there an easy way to combine all these files into one library with one play list?  Currently it takes up alot of space and I do not have all the media available readily useable.

Interesting. If it claims to do it, then it should; I didn't think it did. Importantly, Acrobat doesn't know how to read INDD files, except that it knows how to run InDesign to make a conversion. If there is any trouble running InDesign on that machine, it will affect it.
Still, I'd recommend exporting. With InDesign documents the export settings used are critical, and you'd want to control them rather than have some default.

  • 2 iphones one iMac can this be done?

My parents have just got an iPhone 4s and a 3GS. They share an iMac g5.  Can they both have separate iTunes accounts to purchase apps and sync etc?

    Sy don't you ask Samsung?
Since everything it does pretty much is tied to Google (contacts, calendar, etc.) then the logical thing would be to sync your address book and calendar with Google.  Instructions for this can be found on Google's web site. As for anything else you want to get on your phone... As I already said, you're going to have to ask Samsung about that.
Or you could try reading the manual.

  • When converting dvds to ipod, how do you combine many video files into one?

Hello everyone! When i convert dvds to Ipod format (on windows using videora) the converter seperetly re-encodes severeal (about 4) .99 Gig files into smaller ipod videos. each file is about 30 minutes long, and i was wondering if all of them could be converted into one 2 hour movie file(star wars III if you're wondering). If there is a free way to do this (not quicktimePro)I would find that extreemly helpful.

As TSN has indicated we have no idea what program you are using, other than you posted in the Acrobat forum. In Acrobat you go to File > Create > Combine (varies with version of Acrobat). You can also open one and then use the pages>Insert to add the others.

  • How To Divide Source File Into Smaller Files Without Exporting?

    Hello Everyone,
I'm a beginner with PPro CS4 and to video editing in general. I've done a lot of Googling and searching of these forums to get an answer to this question, but I haven't found a clear answer. Here's my problem:
I have many hours of HDV footage shot over the past few years with a Canon HV30. This footage is on dozens of DV tape cassettes. I want to capture most of it to disk.
When I capture a tape to disk, I get a single large mpeg4 file. (PPro captures all HDV footage to mpeg4.) "Scene select" doesn't work with the HV30, so my only other way to make smaller capture files would be to set In/Out points with batch capture. But this would mean hours of fast-forwarding and reversing with the VCR-like controls on the camera to review all the tapes and set the points. I thought it might be FASTER to simply capture an entire tape in one operation, THEN review the captured tape within PPro (it's much faster using the scrubber), and dividing that file into smaller files within PPro, thereby avoiding all the mechanical fast-forwarding and rewinding on the camera itself.
But the only way I can find to do this seems to involve EXPORTING clips. Am I wrong to think that exporting a clip to a new file involves a degradation of the original mpeg4 source file? Or will there be no loss to the quality if I simply export to mpeg4 format?
It seems there should be an easy way to simply divide the original capture into smaller source files for later editing, without putting the footage through another generation of processing (exporting), which might entail some loss of quality. Or am I wrong about this?
    (CS4 Master Suite, i7 3630k, 16GB RAM, C: 256GB SSD, D: 1T Setpoint F3, E: 1T Setpoint F3)

HDV footage is mpeg2 (whats in a number ). CS4 does not do scene detect you need to use HDV split for that.
    http://strony.aster.pl/paviko/hdvsplit.htm.
You can run your already captured files through hdv split and it will chop the file into clips and off you go.

  • I am having problem in Converting .psd file into HTML site.

here is the screen shot of the PSD which i converted into HTML. It is done with the help of Slice select too. and i got this kind of error in output. so i want a way by which i can transform my psd designs the same way they look in to working website. the template goes other places

Just wanted to correct something you said, simply because beginners are reading these forums and may get confused.
You can not convert any image into an html file. An html file is simply a text file that uses tags that can point to an image file.
Web browsers normally accept jpg, png, and gif files, so you can convert your psd file into one of those three formats and let the html file point to it.
Here are some sites for learning about html and css. Its the latter that can help with your positioning issue.

  • Can't import any .psd files into after effects.

    Hello all.
I was using CS5 master collection without issue, for a year.
Decided to upgrade to the CS6 master collection and that’s when the problems began.
For example, I can’t import any .psd files into AE.
All files are saved in RGB mode.
The previous files were made on CS5.
I made a new .psd file in CS6 with just a couple of layers on it, couldn’t import that either.
I’ve tried Ctrl-alt-shift to delete preferences, that had limited success. I can import a file and do a little bit of work on it but as soon as I close the file down and opened it up again, it does not recognise the .psd file.
The errors I’m getting in AE are many
    For example:
After Effects warning: Reading past end of file
After Effects error: Could not open intro.psd because it is not a valid Photoshop document
After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message:<8104><dynamiclink><5>C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS6\Adobe Premiere Pro exe
After Effects error: Not enough memory to initialise PSL
    I have un-installed and re-installed many times.
    I’m using Windows 8, with 32ram. Hard drives C: 100mg, D: 2 Tb
I’ve tried installing on both drives, still the same thing happens.
Does anyone out there in Adobe Land have any ideas?
    Totally confused
    Cheers,
    Gary.

    Hi Arie,
    Thanks for your response.
It actually happens with every .psd file regardless of size or specs.
All the other programs in the CS6 master collection work fine, except for AE and PS.
I tried the small file. Created a small file, 100 px by 100px 72dpi, just with a gradient background. Same thing, not enough memory to initialise PSL.
I got the adobe cleaner, and re-installed on my system (again) .... same thing.
As long as I open AE with doing ctrl-alt-shift every single time or export layers from PS individually I seem to be OK.
The problem is far from solved, so I guess i just have to put up with workarounds.
Thanks for taking the time to respond

  • How do I break music files into smaller pieces to save battery life?

Apple claims that ipod battery life is improved if music files are less than 9mb for some reason that involves having to load music into the cache more often. Most of my music files are much larger than 9mb and I would like to break up the files into smaller pieces. How can I do this using itunes? Or do I need to use another program?

Most likely the reason your songs are over 9 MB are because they were recorded or "Ripped" In a high bit rate. The bit rate is basicly how many bits per second are played. the higher the bit rate the better the sound is in most cases. in MP3's 128kbs is CD qualidy and is the average, theres also 160kbs and 192kbs. anything above 192 most humans can't tell the difference. theres 2 things u can do, if you have the music on CD u can take the time to rip them again at a lower bit rate MP3 in iTunes or you can have iTunes convert all your songs into the AAC format. If you convert them to AAC tho, you will only be able to play them on your iPod and iTunes only.
You may be able to find free software that will convert all your mp3s to a lower bit rate or compact them more but there are other things you can do to extend your battery. Make sure your iPods EQ setting is off, shorted the amount of time the backlight is on in the iPod settings, lower the volume while playing ur iPod will save the battery. Another thing is to make a good playlist of all the songs u like, so your not constantly switching to other songs. every time u switch songs the iPod has to spin the harddrive inside it and thats a big power drain on the battery.

  • Dividing large files into smaller units

As the Disability Services officer for a small state college, I obtain textbooks in PDF format for some students. With a software package, I can convert PDFs into mp3 files so students can hear as well as read their texts. However, occasionally I receive the entire textbook in one file, which is too large for our conversion program to handle. I would like to know if there is a convenient way (free would be good, too!) to divide an entire-text file into smaller chapter-by-chapter files.
    Thanks!

    Good day,
Depending on the security settings applied to the PDF text books you're receiving, you may be able to use Adobe Acrobat to divide the PDF files into smaller, more managable files that you can process through your conversion program.  We offer a 30-day trial of Adobe Acrobat X Professional for Windows here: http://www.adobe.com/go/tryacrobatpro/
As you're working for an educational institution, you may also qualify for our Student & Teacher Edition pricing.
    I hope this helps!

  • How to convert a .psd file into .ai (adobe illustrator)

    Hi Guys,
I have a very high quality multi layer .psd file that I need to convert to adobe illustrator in order to export them into autocad.
As I'm very in exprienced, Ive tried to merge the layers in the psd file and then use Export -> 'Path to Illustrator', however when I open the newly created .ai file, it open a dialog box called 'Convert to Artboards' and whatever option i choose (either Legacy Artboard or Crop Area(s)' my new illustrator file seems to be empty.
I appreciate any file anyone can offfer.
    Best Regards

    Importing PSD files into Illustrator
       •   Opening PSD files into Illustrator
    1.  Turn on your computer and launch the Illustrator program.
    2.  Open a new document by clicking File>New in Illustrator’s menu bar.
    3.  To open your Photoshop document, go to File>Open and then select the document you want to open when prompted.
       •   Placing PSD files into Illustrator (Editable)
This method is ideal if you wish to incorporate a Photoshop document within an existing Illustrator document which can then make the PSD file editable within Illustrator.
    1. Launch the Illustrator program, select File>Place
    2. Locate the PSD file you want to import and click “Place”. Make sure the “Link” option is not selected.
Placing or opening an unlinked Photoshop file will prompt a dialog box with options, choose the most appropriate option and then click “OK”.
    • Convert Layers to Objects: This option will convert the Photoshop layers into Illustrator objects to be able preserve masks, transparency and blending modes.
                                 • Flatten Layers to a Single Object: This option will flatten all the Photoshop layers into a single layer to preserve the look and appearance of the image; however individual Photoshop layers will no longer be editable.
       •   Placing PSD files into Illustrator (Not Editable)
This method is ideal for incorporating your Photoshop files in an existing Illustrator document. Although the PSD file will no longer be editable it will be able to maintain a link to your original Photoshop file.
    1. Launch the Illustrator program, select File>Place.
    2. Locate the PSD file you want to import and click Place. Make sure the Link option is selected.

**The one time it did not work for me and appeared black was because of shadows (hue/saturation adjustment layer). So I compared the old .psd file, that converted fine, to the current one I was trying got send. One of the differences was the introduction of shadows by duplicating the fonts and image shapes, then merging them to a single image with hue/saturation adjustments. When adjusting the hue/saturation, it appears in a separate layer that was locked to next to image that was just produced. Some reason that was the bug that kept Illustrator from placing the .psd file in Illustrator. The solution was to merge the hue/saturation layer with the image layer. Now it’s back to normal.
Hope this save you some time.

  • Colour shift when placing PSD files into illustrator

    Hi there
I have tested this issue on CS 3,4 and 5.
bascially if I create a CMYK document with a colour image and save this down as a psd file with the coated Fogra 39 embedded in it. If I create a new file within Illustrator with the same colur management and place the psd file into the document and check the link option (so it is a linked file), the colour shifts when using the colour picker. If I print the document from each APP they visually look different as well.
If I place the psd into illustrator without selecting the link option the colour has the same CMYK values as the psd within Photoshop and also prints correctly.
i can only assume that there is an option somewhere in regards to the "link" option and how this changes tha colour values somewhere? If not is there anyway I can get around this issue so I can use linked files without the CMYK values changing?
    Thanks in advance
    Paul

    Hi guys
    Thanks for the responses.
I use bridge to blanket the colour settings so this i feel this is not the issue here. If you have a moment and would kindly create a colour tint within PS of what ever colour, save this down as any format and place this into illustrator with the link checkbox checked you will see the colour data has physically changed for the CMYK values. This results in the prints looking different as well. If you deselct the link check box when placing the file the CMYK values are the same.
I tried the overprint preview option. This changes the viewable colour on screen but not the CMYK data of the file.
There seems to be a fundamental floor with this link option for some reason.
I might have phone Adobe direct for this iisue as I cannot find a fix for this.
    Many thanks
    Paul
