Many Warnings in System Log "The active profile was modified "

Hi,
We have a 3 system BI landscape (Development / Quality / Production) .
When I check in system log of all the servers in SM21..I could see repeated warning messages with the username sapsys
The active profile was modified
>>> Profile name = /usr/sap/BIQ/SYS/profile/BIQ_DVEBMGS00_node1
BIQ is the System ID
I do not understand what went wrong in our lanscape. This message appears in all the 3 servers(Dev/Quality & Production)
Double click on System Log doc in SM21 shows this

Can anyone help me if you have any idea in this.
Thanks in advance.

Was a change made to any of the profiles outside of RZ10? You might want to compare what is out on the file system to what is stored in RZ10 to see if there are any dramatic differences. If not, then you should be able to get rid of the message by importing the current profiles.
Hope that helps.

• I get an error message saying "system overload, the audio engine was not able to process all the required data in time (10011)

i get an error message saying "system overload, the audio engine was not able to process all the required data in time (10011)

The thing is, that error message has been appearing when playing/recording a track that was running perfectly a few minutes ago and nothing has changed!
That can mean, that your project is too ambitious for your Mac. Are you using many complicated automations on that track?
4GB memory is not much, when doing audio processing. GarageBand will need all memory it can get, or will be forced to continually swap pages to your disk, to free RAM, and that can cause this error.
When this error occurs, it is best to restart the computer. This will free your RAM. Close all other applications that are competing for memory, i.e. other multimedia applications, and Safari.
Also, make sure, that you have plenty of free disk space. Don't let the free disk space drop below 20G.
Where is your project located? On an external drive or your internal drive? If it is on an external drive, connect this drive directly, not daisy-chained, or move the project to your internal drive.
I got up to eat, came back and tried to continue but GarageBand shuts down and displays that message every time I try to run the song. I've also recently run songs with several more tracks than this one and they worked perfectly. Any tips?
Are your other projects, that worked perfectly, still working?

• I cannot get cs2 to activate because the activation server was taken off line.

I purchased CS2 but use it infrequently. Recently, I tried to start the program and was requested to activate (reactivate) the software. I had the serial numbers but the online activation service is no longer available. I googled the problem and believe somehow Adobe is providing serial numbers or otherwise trying to enable software to run, since it was already paid for.... Any direction or input on how to resolve this issue would be much appreciate. joe

I have not linked any ringtone to any contact, yet in one of my profiles the ringtone that rings for all calls isn't the one that I have specified for that particular profile. How can I fix this?

Welcme to the Frums!
So you go to the profiles and Advance then highlight the profile you want to edit........ Go to phone and select ring tone you want for your ringtones when someone calls . Is this what you hae done?

• Will it DESTROY all the active fields if modified?

I have a multi-page PDF file (70+ pages) that was programmed by a software tech in India. Unfortunately he can no longer be reached. I have no idea what software was used.
The attributes of the files are as follows;
It can be opened in Reader
· The file has numerous entry fields that can be entered
· The form automatically populates all the other fields where that same information is requested (name, address, etc.)
· It also computes math entries (adding up separate entries for a total) and again, forwarding those totals where applicable
· The form CAN BE SAVED and worked on later preserving all information already entered. It does NOT have to be flattened and “printed” only. All done in the basic Reader.
Bottom line, the form does everything I want to accomplish. However, there are 2 problems;
· If I edit any text, it then gives me the message that “the form has changed and is no longer interactive”. All the attributes are then missing.
· Also, there are a number of balloon "stickys" that can be opened to explain various items. Many times, these "stickys" intrude into a word of type. I want to completely remove the original stickys and replace with different ones.
What I want to be able to accomplish is;
· Edit type, add or replace pages (not talking about those pages that have the various “actions”
· Remove the old stickys
· Add new stickys
· All without losing any functionality.
Can I accomplish all the above in Adobe Acrobat? Can EVERYTHING I covered can be accomplished without an engineering degree. Lol And which version of Acrobat will I need?
Thanks for your help.

I'll make certain I have several backups just in case. I will keep the editing down to a minimum on pages that have "actions". Many pages don't have any Stickys but a few have 4-6. Do I just select them and then delete? I have a low end editor that won't delete them..
On those few pages if I delete say 6 Stickys and replace with 6 different ones, do you feel I will be OK if I don't do any other editing? The really great thing is not only the populating of various fields, but that it can be done and saved in Reader and still stay "active."
Is there any specific version of Acrobat to accomplish what I need to do?
Thanks

• I have an Imac using the old Classic operating system. The printer I was using died and I need a new printer that will work on the OS 9.1/9.2 operating system. Does the install disk that comes with the printer allow the computer to communicate with the

My printer died and I need a printer that is compatable with OS 9.1/9.2. Some printers say they are compatible with OS 9.1/9.2 but do they need a driver or is it included with the install disk that comes with the printer?

As long as the printer is accurately described as being compatible with OS 9.1/9.2, if it needs to have software (such as drivers) installed that software should either be included (usual) or downloadable from the net(usually from the manufacyrer's website).
Not all non-Apple printers need drivers installed. Some, such as many Postscript ones that connect via ethernet, are quite comfortable using the LaserWriter 8 printware that's part of OS 9. Some of those, though, may need to have a model-specific PPD (Postscript Printer Description) installed, a small document that informs the printware of the capabilities of the printer.

• I am getting a warning need more space on my disk. I have checked the Console and there have been 4000 thousand messages in my system log in the last 2 days. I have emptied as many files as possible.

Hi
I am getting a warning on opening my mac saying I need more space as my setup disk is full. I have emptied many files as well as my Trash. I am planning to get an external drive for my photos, but it has been suggested that I check Console and under the system log the following message (of which they say 4000 messages have been logged in 2 days) '06/06/2014 16:08:23.341 com.apple.dynamic_pager: dynamic_pager: Need more space on the disk to enable swapping'. This is a copy of one of the items. It is from the system log. I really do not think I have enough files to warrant this warning, with the exception of photos. My storage shows 143 MB free out of 120.47. Thanks for any help.

First off, no MacBook Air can run 10.3 or earlier.
Secondly, are you sure you only have 143MB of storage free? That's seriously low. With MacBook Airs of 120 GB hard drives, or even 140 GB which is often the case when it says out of 120, you shouldn't allow your free space to go down below 20 GB. MB is 1024 fold less than a GB. So if you really have 143MB free on a MacBook Air, you are long past the minimum space you should be keeping it at, and need to start clearing a lot of space now*:

I'm asking this thread be moved to the MacBook Air forum,a as we can't say for certain what you have when you post in the 10.3 or earlier forum.

• I need to view the available commands and alias on my macbook. also i need to check system log history from terminal

I think I am missing some stuff in the commands. I need it to show a list of all available to me and alias ....any suggestions?
<Edited by Host>

rockymountainblues,
do you mean commands as in items in the Applications folder, or commands as in things that would be run from within Terminal? What sort of stuff do you think is missing from the commands?
By aliases, do you mean aliases within the shell that Terminal executes?
To check your system log history from Terminal, log in as an administrative user and go to /var/log. You should see several files with names that begin with system.log — the ones that end in .gz are inactive and compressed. The file named just system.log is the one that’s currently active.

Hi Raghu,
T-cde RZ11
The System Log
The SAP System logs all system errors, warnings, user locks due to failed logon attempts from known users, and process messages in the system log. There are to two different types of logs created by the system log:
ｷ Local Logs
ｷ Central Logs
Use transaction SM21 to access the system log output screen. With this transaction, you can read any of the messages that are contained in the system logs. You can modify the view to meet your needs.
Local Logs
Each SAP System application server has a local log that receives all the messages output by this server. The system log records these messages in a circular file on the server. When this log file reaches the maximum permissible length, the system log overwrites it, starting over from the beginning. (The location of the local log is specified in the rslg/local/file profile parameter.)
Central Logs
We recommend that you also maintain a central log file on a selected application server. Each individual application server then sends its local log messages to this server. The server that you designate to maintain the central log collects the messages from the other application servers and writes these messages to the central log.
The central log consists of two files: the active file and the old file. (The location of the active file is specified in the rslg/central/fileprofile parameter; the location of the old file is specified in the rslg/central/old_file.)
The active file contains the current log. When it reaches the maximum size, the system performs a "log file switch". It deletes the old log file, makes the previously active file the “old” file, and creates a new active file. The switch occurs when the size of the active log file is half the value as specified in the rslg/max_diskspace/central parameter. (Note: the SAP System does not support the saving of old system log files. If you want to save old logs, then you must archive them yourself.)
If you use Windows NT or AS/400, then note the following:
Central logging is not available on the Windows NT and AS/400 platforms.
Per default, the profile parameter rslg/collect_daemon/host should be set correctly. However, if you receive warnings, then make sure that this parameter is set to NONE.
For these platforms, you can use the All remote syslogs function from transaction SM21 to read the data of all the instances in your SAP System. In the alert monitor, if you receive an alert, you can use the Remote syslog function to analyze the affected instance.
Profile Parameters and File Locations
The table below shows some of the profile parameters for the system log along with their standard values:
Profile Parameters and File Locations for the System Log
rslg/local/file
Specifies the location of the local log on the application server.
/usr/sap/<SID>/D20/
log/SLOG<SAP-instance_number>
rslg/collect_daemon/host
Specifies the application server that maintains the central log.
<hostname of main instance>
rslg/central/file
Specifies the location of the active file for the central log on the application server.
/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/
global/SLOGJ
rslg/central/old_file
Specifies the location of the old file for the central log on the application server.
/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/
global/SLOGJO
rslg/max_diskspace_local
Specifies the maximum length of the local log.
500,000 bytes
rslg/max_diskspace_central
Specifies the maximum length of the central log.
2,000,000 bytes
Any operations on the Database would be recorded in the attribute log of the db and it would be a file on the system - usually the attribute logs are set to a particular size and if that size limit is eached , the system will hang - ask the DBA to take a back up of the log and clear the current log file and you should be good to go.
Hope this helps,

• Normal Startup Messages (System.log; Intel Verbose Mode)?

Over this past weekend, I wanted to test the backup I had for my 24" iMac. I had always used Apple's Backup program that comes with .Mac when I had my PowerBook, and never tested it. This was bad, because it didn't work when I actually needed it.
I also suspected there might be something slightly wrong with my iMac, so equipped with about 4 hours and my install DVDs i went to work.
The only thing I've done so far is get all the Apple updates and setup my iChat account. I changed to boot in verbose mode, and found that the eery messages that scared me prior to doing my reinstallation of OS X (I zeroed the drive, then did a full install) were still there.
Here is my entire System.log:

The lines that concern me are the ones bolded at the top of System.log
The other thing that is a bit unnerving to me is that when I have it set to boot in verbose mode, and then restart the computer, I get a screen that looks out of place. It is a box with a dark background in the center of the screen with text in there, and then it quickly switches to full screen verbose mode. The first line of full screen verbose mode (which is what I'm used to since I always used verbose mode on my PowerBook) is this one:
Jan 30 09:23:08 localhost kernel[0]: hi mem tramps at 0xffe00000
In the centered text, it mentions something about "loading drivers" followed by many lines of periods. It is only up for about 5 seconds, and then switches to full screen verbose mode. Is that centered window for verbose mode new to intel Macs? I never recall seeing it on my PowerBook.
When i googled around for the "hi mem tramps" message, i found it might be linked to bad ram. I used memtest and did 3 passes to check the ram, and it found no errors.
Are these messages in System.log normal?
Thanks!

Hi, Mike.
First, please don't use the "scatter gun" or "post everywhere" approach. I see you've also post the same question here. I appreciate your urgent desire for help, but it would be very annoying to anyone answering questions here to spend time researching your question in one post, only to find it already answered in another place where it was also posted. The "scatter gun" approach is a good way to get all your future posts ignored.
According to what I read in the second post of this topic on another forum, I suspect you may have a Startup Item that's causing the highlighted messages to be written to system.log. Perhaps some PowerPC code you may have migrated over to your Intel-based Mac if you used the Setup / Migration Assistant to move to the new Mac from a pervious Mac.
There have been numerous posts about the tfp: failed on 0 message, which can be seen in this search of the Discussions. However, I suspect the explanation I've cited above fits your situation.
If an errant Startup Item is the cause, my "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ can help you pin that down if such an item is causing the problem.
As to hi mem tramps…, that may be normal. If you read this item and click on the link for dmesg you'll see a typical output someone else posted as, I suspect, an example of "normal."
Good luck!

• Shipment activity profile

We are trying to figure out how we can control the post goods issue date via the shipment. We have our activity profile set to do a PGI when shipment start is set. Now we want the PGI date to be the same as the shipment start date. I have looked at passing a variable into the variant for the program rv56bpgi, but the system does not allow me to use the user defined variables.

To decide if a proforma or a F2 is created you have
to define this in the item category type of the sales order items (VOV7)
For the case they have invoice relevance 'D' then the activity
profile would create a proforma invoice.
Within function module SD_SHIPMENT_CREATE_INVOICE it is checked which delivery is relevant for
invoicing and which invoice type has to be created (call transaction
VF01).

• "SystemUIServer " in System Log

After a reboot I noticed in the System Log the following:
"Aug 14 09:46:11 power-mac-g5 diskarbitrationd[41]: SystemUIServer [217]:37379 not responding."
What is this referencing, and should it be of concern? OS is 10.4.10. G5 PPC.
Thanks!

The SystemUIServer is in charge of items on the right side of the menu bar, where Spotlight, the clock, and various menu bar extras are located. Launch Activity Monitor and make sure All Processes are being displayed, click the Process Name column to arrange alphabetically, and see if SystemUIServer is showing there as not responding. If so, click to select it, then click the Quit Process toolbar icon, and click the Force Quit button. SystemUIServer should relaunch. If it doesn't or does, then promptly hangs again, most likely there is a conflict with some item you have added to the menu bar. You can delete this file:
"/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist"
Force Quit SystemUIServer again and see if it relaunches and runs normally. You can then add items back, such as the clock, one at a time, until you find which item is causing the problem. You may have added a haxie that allows you to put stuff in the menu bar that Apple disapproves of--if so you'll have to give it up. Have anything from Unsanity installed up there? How about the menu thing from StuffIt Deluxe? Both would be prime candidates for causing the problem.

• Airdrop failure, system.log

There have been many threads around about this, it seems most revolve around mismatched iCloud Logins across the devices. I can drop items to my phone without issue, however from phone to mac is not working.
I checked the system log, it seems the certificate on the phone cannot be validated,
Oct 17 16:35:07 Arnis-MacBook-Pro.local sharingd[318]: 16:35:07.293 : AirDrop request received
Oct 17 16:35:07 Arnis-MacBook-Pro.local sharingd[318]: 16:35:07.293 : AirDrop server transaction begin (1)
Oct 17 16:35:07 Arnis-MacBook-Pro.local sharingd[318]: 16:35:07.301 : AirDrop received transfer request

Oct 17 16:35:07 Arnis-MacBook-Pro.local sharingd[318]: 16:35:07.347 : Power assertion released
Additionally I can only select my mac as a target when i choose "discoverable by everyone" on the mac -- and still does not work. I fear i need to relog the iCloud account on my phone -- but I'm really hoping for alternatives.

Hi, Matt.
The specific message you cited
Dec 8 03:15:06 macname cp: error processing extended attributes: Operation not permitted
is actually the result of a bug in the periodic command itself. It's harmless, but is is a telltale sign that one of the periodic scripts ran.
The reason your system.log would appear blank, with only this message, is because the periodic daily or other script ran and rotated the log. Looks like the daily script ran at the appropriate time (03:15) and nothing log-worthy has been reported since.
Check the archived system.logs: The current System log is the file system.log. Archived system.log files have file names:
system.log.n.gz
where n is an integer in the range of 0 to 7. The higher the number, the older the log. Both current and archived System logs are located in the /var/log/ directory. You can access these logs in several ways, including the following methods:
- Launch Console (located in the Applications > Utilities folder), then click the Logs tool on the toolbar, then click the disclosure triangle next to the /var/log entry. Scroll down and you'll find the archived system logs.
- In Finder, select Go > Go to Folder..., type /var/log/ in the entry field of the resulting sheet, then click Go.
Good luck!
