  • OS 10.2.8 on PowerBook G4, Safari 1.0.3, can I update? websites don't load...

I system restored my PowerBook G4, has OS 10.2.8 and the Safari browser shows v 1.0.3. Many websites won't completely load or show up in a crude form. Can I possibly update Safari? How? Update the OS? Note that apparently FireFox won't run on this OS. Thx in advance for any ideas or help!

You can upgrade the OS to Tiger 10.4 or Leopard 10.5 depending on which model PB G4 you have. What is your processor speed and how much RAM?

  • Safari - Many Websites Are Not Loading

Does anyone else have the same problem as the one below?
Ever since I upgraded to Leopard (day of release) there have been plenty of websites that do not finish loading, and what happens is that the tabs/websites just keep spinning. My ISP says nothing is wrong (BT Internet, UK). This happens at my business and home... Same ISP but two different exchanges/ISP servers.
Has there been something that now overrides what I had in place with Tiger? I did notice that the firewall was automatically turned off (and without warning; that was silly, Apple!). Should I now have to set up something else instead?
    Thanks

a brody... many thanks for your reply.
Yep, I had already emptied the cache in all users but it struck me afterwards as to why the problem would exist for all users at the same time and especially after I installed Leopard. In another post I talk about an email address that keeps saying it is receiving incoming mail; the Activity Monitor in the side bar (or Command-zero pop-up window) happily counts upwards into the hundreds i.e. 249 of 346 etc (it keeps changing, too). Sometimes emails come in fine while others arrive a few hours later; it's very sporadic. Weird.
So there must be something wrong with the two of them together; they must be related to the upgrade and to something that is attached to both Safari and Mail. I'm not sure how though.
Here are two pages of many that do not load all the way:
    https://adwords.google.com/select/Login
    http://webmail.7lilies.com
One of the other machines has yet to be upgraded to Leopard and because it's still running on Tiger everything is fine. All emails come in OK, as do the above websites.
    Cheers.

  • Websites Don't Load. Just reverts to Page Load Error.

Like I said in the title, every time I go to a website, it just loads for about half a minute before going to the error page. Strangely, this only happens for new sites that I visit. Ones that I have visited before seem fine. (By the way, this only started to happen recently, that's what I mean by before)

    Welcome to Apple discussions, ThegReenmOnster.
Something similar happened to me recently and so I *deleted all cookies* and *emptied the cache* in Safari, and that seemed to clear things up.

  • Websites don't load...

    https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!newtopic/chrome
I am having an error with my browsers (FF & Chrome). I keep getting "No Data Received" errors on websites I visit all of the time. This just started after someone ran over and stole our internet boxes (outside those big things where the wires come into our house) for both Knology/WOW and Charter Communications. We finally got our internet back and no one else is having this error. It is also not happening on the Chrome on my laptop. ONLY on my desktop. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome since the internet went out. When I uninstalled, I removed browsing history.
It happens very frequently. Frequently enough to bug the hell out of me. Refreshing works...but sometimes I have to refresh twice if not more to get the page to come up.
it just happened on my website (I own a forum) as well as the website that hosts my site. Both with the "ERR_NO_RESPONSE"
    /IMAGE/
That is what it looks like. I know that there is no downtime or anything as this doesn't happen on my laptop with the exact same sites and version of Windows and everything.
It is always preceeded by long page load times for my 60mbps connection with Charter or 20mbps connection with WOW/Knology.
Here is what I have tried....
    Clearing Cache (both browsers)
Uninstalling and Reinstalling Twice with Chrome; 0 times with FF.
After NOT signing into Chrome when I reinstalled it the last time it has not fixed the problem.
Using IE fixes the problem BUT the problem re-imerges when using FireFox (posting in those forums next)
    disabling all extensions doesn't help
    using default settings doesn't help.
searching theses forums for other solutions + FireFox Support Forums for other solutions that have helped other people... those haven't helped me.
Here are the addresses I am visiting...
    http://community.invisionpower.com/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=viewNewContent&search_app=forums (my host)
    http://helpmecode.club (mine)
    These google support forums
Redirects cause the issue as well... googled the google support forums and then when I clicked the link, took me to the ERR_NO_RESPONSE page.
    https://www.invisionpower.com/clients/index.php?s=818357ae7fa43d71a6c0f8ea5d5286de&app=core&module=global&section=login
I have verified it isn't my internet because it is not happening on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (T-Mobile; M919) with Chrome (not Chrome Beta) on it.
I use Chrome & FF for work and have separate profiles for each computer. Neither profile is affected with Chrome on my laptop.
I'm tired of this error. How should I fix this?

Is it possible that the sites with problems are where LastPass is trying to log you in? Have you tried them with LastPass disabled?
One way to temporarily bypass extensions is to test the pages in Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference?

  • Some websites won't load at all

Hi I have 13" Mac Book Pro and some websites don't load at any browser at all. I have tried Safari and Google Chrome and the weird thing is that just some of the sites won't work (such as youtube, facebook, apple.com, and many "heavy"...). Also my wifi connection works normally with other computers (wich are PC). The webpages start loading and the blue bar stops at the middle, and it never finishes... Do you think it's a problem related to software or with Macintosh ? I tried to redefine Safari but nothing happens...
I look forward to someone's help,
    Thanks.

    Let's try using OpenDNS servers.
    System Preferences>Network>Advanced>DNS
click the + in the left side column and add the following:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK, Then click Apply.

  • Keep getting a pop up at the top of many websites I visit 'firefox security error content at *web address* may not load" I am using the most recent firefox and windows 7.

Keep getting a pop up at the top of many websites I visit 'firefox security error content at *web address* may not load" I am using the most recent firefox and windows 7. This is happening at many sites, such as hotmail, google reader, and many others.

Sorry, I don't think that is a message from inside Firefox, the wording doesn't sound correct - at least the beginning of that message. My "gut" thinks that is a MSN Live message to explain and compensate for their lack of security with a re-direct from a secure domain to an un-secure domain. ''(the end of that message)''
{Ctrl + Shft + J} will open the Firefox Error Console - I'm curious what Firefox has to say about that situation. If you find the error message for that domain, you can right-click the message to '''copy''' it and then paste that error message here.
Maybe '''TonyE''' or '''cor-el''' will be more familiar with the situation at Live and maybe at Google Reader, I don't use either of those services and have never seen a message like that myself.

  • Suddenly, Firefox won't load many websites. All I get is a blank page. I tried the fix suggested in knowledge base. Used 3 different virus/malware screens. No viruses, but some adware. Removed those, but it still doesn't work

Many common websites won't load, all I get is a blank page. I am running Windows Vista. Tried virus scans, got rid of some adware but it still doesn't work. I am now using Google Chrome. I've used Firefox for many years, but this isn't acceptable
== URL of affected sites ==
    http://www.amazon.com
    == User Agent ==
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.375.70 Safari/533.4

Update: This is NOT just related to "Yahoo" pages, while this problem first began with some of my Yahoo pages, it is now also happening with other NON Yahoo things I want to load up. Like Twitter, or Links in emails that load Blank, or even images within emails that show up Blank in the preview part of Yahoo mail. It is NOT a Yahoo issue as I have loaded up my Yahoo Mail in IE and Chrome, and everything loads wonderfully. I can even load up sites like Twitter, and other websites that will NOT load in Firefox, but they come up fine in other Browsers.
I have done the ONLY suggestion that came from Firefox Tech support, to load up FF in Safe Mode, but the problems still exists. I have uninstalled FF and re-loaded it, but the same problem is there.
Does anyone have any ideas here at all? I can't seem to get any Fire Fox help, so I am reaching out to the community here to see if anyone can help.... Thank you !!

  • Ever since i downloaded OSX Mountain Lion, Express VPN no longer works properly for me. Even though it says I am connected, webpages refuse to load. However, everything works fine when its turned off. I cannot go on many websites without the VPN.

Ever since i downloaded OSX Mountain Lion, Express VPN no longer works properly for me. Even though it says I am connected, webpages refuse to load. However, connection speed is fine when its turned off. I cannot go on many websites without the VPN. My current location is Shanghai, China. OSX Mountain was installed this morning and everything worked fine until then. Is Express VPN not supported? What do i need to do in order to get it working again on my Macbook Pro (early 2011). I want to be able to go on websites such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, ect...

    Hi,
I am having the same issue listed above on my new Mac Mini i just bought, I also contacted Express VPN support and got the same instructions with exception of the command to run in the utilities terminal.  I tried the steps listed, and both commands (posted here, and sent to me directly by Express VPN support), and still unable to connect on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2, but I am able to connect on my iPad and my MacBook which is running Mac OS X 10.6.8.  Usually Express VPN is spot on with their customer support, but this is taking longer to get resolved.  Here is the steps sent to me
Try doing the following to see if the problem gets resolved:
Please follow the instructions here: https://www.expressvpn.org/support/setting_dns_servers_mac_os
(should still be the same for Lion) and then add the following DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 & 208.67.222.220. After adding the DNS servers, please do the following steps as well:
Note: If you're connecting to your ISP via a PPPoE connection, then set the DNS servers on the PPPoE connection itself and then restart your computer for the DNS settings to take effect.
    1. Click on Applications
    2. Click on Utilities
    3. Click on Terminal
    4. Type the following command (without the quotes): "sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder"
    5. Press enter and then try reconnecting to the VPN.
If you're still unable to connect, please send us in the latest log files.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

  • Many websites - including all Blogger blogs - lose formatting when loaded.

All Blogger-based websites load w/out formatting - looks like I get the straight HTML sans CSS. Now more and more other websites are also loading with missing formatting... this happens to me with Amazon.com, United.com and others.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox once already and it didn't help. I've uninstalled and reinstalled my add-ons and that didn't help. I've now started using Chrome because it doesn't ever give me this problem, but I like Firefox and would like to keep with it (hence the request for help).

First of all, a couple of links.
For Google American English, use http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0&hl=en
    For Google UK, use http://www.google.co.uk/webhp?complete=0&hl=en
To reset the location bar search, do the following.
    * In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.
    * In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''
    * Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0&hl=en
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.
    * Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.
    * Click the orange Firefox button and go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General''' (Firefox 4.0.x and above).
    * Go to '''Tools '''| '''Options '''| '''General''' (Previous version of Firefox).
    * Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.
    * Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.
After you complete the above steps, install this add-on to prevent another search engine from modifying your preferences: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/browserprotect/
You also asked about disabling Plugins. To accomplish that task, click the Firefox button, go to Add-ons | Plugins and then disable those you don't want.
In FF 3.6.x, go to Tools | Add-ons | Plugins.
Please check to make sure your plugins are up to date via the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page.

  • Odd pop-ups and webpages that don't load?

I know that Mac computers cannot get a virus; however, I have been receiving very odd messages lately. I sometimes get random pop-ups that say, "Your Windows computer may be infected! Call now at this number!" I'm not sure if it's just an ad or some sort of spam, but it makes me uncomfortable because I tend to get the messages often. I unfortunately don't have an image of the pop-ups, though.
Another problem is the fact that I can't access ONE particular website. My wireless is fine, it works perfectly with other webpages, but that one website refuses to load. The website is 'Animal Jam,' and I've tried everything to allow the website to load for my daughter, but it just doesn't seem to work properly. The address bar just loads for a long period of time until Chrome says 'This website is not available.' Animal Jam has provided tips for technical problems (all of which I have tried): clearing the cookies, updating Adobe Flash Player, restarting my computer, etc., but nothing seems to work at all.
I've also tried testing it with different browsers, and they all yielded the same result. I know that the website is not tempolarily disabled, because it seems to be working for many of my daughter's friends who also play the game. This site also provides that the site is 'up' and running: http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/animaljam.com.html
    Some help would be appreciated!

Most likely, you have a web plugin that depends on the Java runtime distributed by Apple, such as the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it, including its automatic update mechanism (if any) according to the developer's instructions. Otherwise, install Java.

  • Many Web Sites Only Load Few Thumbnail Images FF7.0.1

Many websites do not fully load thumnail photos (google, ebay, etc). This is a brand new install without any changes except the latest Adobe Flash plug-in has been loaded when Firefox asked to do so.
It seems as though FF stops loading too soon.
Both IE and my old copy of Netscape have no problems with the same sites.
Reloading the page has same exact result.
Safe mode does not fix the problem.

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />
