Map id's not working

Hi all
My map id's are not working properly.  I am getting the defintions to display properly but for some reason my books on the left side (t.o.c) do not expand and go to where the topic came from.  The left side has the books collapsed and stay on the name of the file.
Any idea what I need to do?
thanks
Caryn

Hi, again,
> Do I need to enter a file name in Custom image file?
No, that's an optional facility that is unrelated to what you want to do. In fact, the facility to replace the icons in the TOC pane with your own icons is so crippled as to be not worth using. (The problem is in HTML Help itself, not RoboHelp.)
> Tested my map id's and they did not work.
Just checking: did they work before you enabled the Synchronize TOC feature? Have you made any other changes that could break the context help mappings?
> I dont have to use ?what's this feature for field context sensitive help, do I?
No, you don't need to, but this is something that has to be agreed with the developer whose software you're documenting. The type of command that the developer uses to invoke help determines the method you use to provide help -- or, put another way, if you want to deliver help in a certain way then the developer has to use the appropriate command to invoke it. I believe there's extensive information in RoboHelp's online help about this, or you could take a look at some of the resources listed here:

Try this: Open up her Home folder (house icon), click Library then Preferences. Locate com.apple.softwareupdate.plst (I don't have my Mac handy so I can't double-check the name; that should be correct) and move it to the desktop or trash, then try running Software Update again. Also try running Software Update while logged in as another administrator.

  • Remove an unused map ID - Does Not Work, Documentation Innacurate

I am using TCS 3.5 on Windows XP Pro. We're linking FM books to RH for online help output. I'm listing this in the FM Integration section for that reason, but this seems like it could possibly be a standalone RH problem, too.
I've been creating map files in RH and everything was going well until I tried cleaning out the unused map IDs. The topic alias markers I create in FM work well and do port over. However, if I edit the marker in FM and update the linked files in RH, the new marker shows up in the map file -- but so do all of the old ones.
I thought that wouldn't be a problem when I found the "Remove an unused Map ID" function under the "Project Set-Up/Map Files." It seemed like it magically worked once and now not at all.
I have tried every variation you can imagine with the process. I both edited and deleted the markers in FM, but I still cannot clean them out with this function. I also found that the map file must be "unlocked" and verified that in the properties setting, as well.
Part of what I find strange is that the documentation for this function does not match up with I see in RH9. Maybe this is documentation for an older version of RH (see below)
At any rate, this is a huge problem, because I cannot have the map files littered with unusued map IDs, nor is it realistic to do this work manually, especially given the size of our books.
    Remove an unused map ID
Your map files must be unlocked to use this option. To remove unused map IDs:
Expand the Context-Sensitive Help folder in the Project Set-up pod.
    Right-click the Map Files folder.
    Select Edit.
    Do the following:
    Map Files
Select the map files from which to remove unused map IDs.
    Select All
Click to remove unused map IDs from all map files.
    Clear All
Click to deselect all map files and not remove unused map IDs

Alright, maybe it isn't that bad if you substitute the correct text we discovered. But I think this also reveals another shortcoming with the management of those map files, which is once you open the "Edit Map IDs" dialogue box, you should be able to batch manage the entries in the same way. Ultimately, the "Remove Unused IDs should just work, but being able to select all the Map ID entries and delete them would be an acceptable workaround and/or a nice piece of enhanced functionality.
When I tried deleting the Notepad entries, I left RH open. But I just now tried the method you suggested, closing it out and opening it again. This actually did not work and caused more problems. From that point, every time I tried to force an update, it would only pull over a single topic alias and nothing I did would restore the other original topic aliases from the FM files. This method seems to cause the integration to wig out.
From there, I had to painfully create a new project and re-link the FM files, apply .isf settings, etc. That worked, but who wants to do that every time, not to mention the versioning management nightmare it will create, especially in an environment with multiple writers.
After I got the files linked again, I determined that the best method seems to be deleting all the Map ID entries manually. That seems to clear out the Notepad file correctly and not cause any confusion for RH.
I can understand why you opted for being a "FM import guy." This linking of FM>RH is fraught with lots of headaches and oftentimes application bugginess. In this case, I think I'm adhering to the philosophy of doing all the work in FM, but since the "Remove Unused IDs" functionality doesn't work in RH, there is little to do but touch things in RH with a workaround.

  • Ifmember Map Drive script not working

So I have a script that I've used for years, but for some reason trying to use it in a new domain doesn't work.  Script looks like this:
    @ECHO OFF
    rem NET USE J: /d
    rem NET USE K: /d
    %logonserver%\netlogon\software\ifmember "domain\SecurityGroup1" > nul
    IF ERRORLEVEL 1 SET MAPDRV=TRUE
IF NOT DEFINED MAPDRV GOTO :NEXT
    net use J: \\domain.com\dfsroot\folder1
    SET MAPDRV=
    :NEXT
    %logonserver%\netlogon\software\ifmember "domain\SecurityGroup2" > nul
    IF ERRORLEVEL 1 SET MAPDRV=TRUE
IF NOT DEFINED MAPDRV GOTO :END
    net use K: \\domain.com\dfsroot\folder2
    SET MAPDRV=
    :END
As I said, it's been wokring for years, but trying to use it in a new test domain, and for some reason the Errorlevel never flags.  I tested my ifmember and I can see the user as a member of the security group that gives the drive access and should flag
true on the ifmember lookup.  The net use piece works, and the user has permissions and the ability to map to that share.  So something is preventing the If Errorlevel 1 set mapdrv=true  .
    Any Ideas?

While working on implementing Group Policy preferences, run these commands from a Command Prompt to see what is going on:
    %logonserver%\netlogon\software\ifmember "domain\SecurityGroup1"
    echo ErrorLevel=%ErrorLevel%
If the user is a member of SecurityGroup1 then you should see "ErrorLevel=1" on the screen. If you don't then ifmember.exe does not work on your system.
If you can get it to work then this simplified script would work just as well:
    @echo off
    set IfMember=%logonserver%\netlogon\software\ifmember.exe
    %IfMember% "domain\SecurityGroup1" || net use J: \\domain.com\dfsroot\folder1
    %IfMember% "domain\SecurityGroup2" || net use K: \\domain.com\dfsroot\folder2

  • Nokia astound C7 Ovi maps "Check in" not working.....

I'm on t-mobile USA and I have been unable to get ovi-map's check in feature, or set up the social networks in the ovi maps. Every OTHER feature of ovie maps works just fine, the GPS, loading terrain data over the 3G network etc... just whenever I try to "Check in" I get "There are currently network problems, Please Try again Later." as an error message.
I've double checked all of my connection settings, and they seem to be fine, ovi social and other apps like opera can connect to the web just fine.
Is there *actually* network trouble that's been going on since June? or is there something wrong with the software / my configuration.
Also, this is kind of un-related, but Google Maps 4.1.1 (also 4.0.0) crash when it initializes the GPS functionality of the phone.  I'm fiarly certen these are unrelated, but maybe there is a problem with t-mobile's default settings?

does not work on mobile carriers internet or wlan. I have also made sure internet in maps is on. I am running ovi maps v3.06

Are you sure you are trying it the same way when it worked last time ? What I mean is ..is it at the SAME place or under SAME conditions ? For GPS to work with Integrated GPS Positioning .. you MUST go to an area open to sky.. launch the application and wait.. If the location is having tall buildings / trees and /or the weather is cloudy / rainy, then you may have to wait for quite a long time..

  • MAPI over HTTP not working correctly, Outlook 2013 clients prompting for credentials during profile creation or opening depending on security of virtual directory

    ENVIRONMENT
-1 Exchange 2013 SP1 CU7 server with all roles that is also a hybrid server with Office 365 tenant, mailboxes are all on premise only LYNC online is being utilized right now.
    -Exchange 2013 public folders
-Mix of Outlook 2013 SP1 and Outlook 2010 SP3 clients all fully update to day as of Feb 2015
Outlook anywhere is working perfectly across all clients both internally and externally using autodiscover.  Both Outlook 2013 and 2010 clients can open the program and create a profile automatically via autodiscover and no additional logon prompts
    are seen.
We set the internal and external mapi virtual directory URLs to a valid URL that also matches the Exchange 2013 SSL certificate.  We set the security to ntlm, negotiate on the mapi virtual directory.  We reset IIS and enabled mapi over http in
the org config.  We run in to problems here.
Outlook 2010 clients appear to be working fine.  We can create a new profile and open and close Outlook without any logon prompts and verify that MAPIHTTP and Negotiate are used to connect to Exchange.
Outlook 2013 clients are having problems.  As soon as we try to create a profile it says your administrator has made a change that requires you to restart outlook and then a windows logon prompt appears. If we authenticate Outlook will open and connect.
This logon prompt should not occur.    We can confirm that it is connecting via MAPI HTTP and Negotiate.
If we set the mapi virtual directory to NTLM only then a logon prompt also appears during every open of Outlook 2013.  We can confirm that it is trying to connect with MAPIHTTP via NTLM in the outlook connection test screen.
I do not understand this behavior by Outlook 2013 which was supposed to be designed with MAPI HTTP in mind.  I would think the same issues would occur with Outlook 2010 but they do not.  I am not sure how to resolve this and I am looking for help.

I have the same problem. Exchange and Outlook are both up to date. After creating a new profile Outlook prompts for username/password. A lot of users also get this prompt while
working - the profiles have been "migrated" from Exchange server 2010. <o:p></o:p>
Niko, as i can see in your screenshot you do not have Mapi over HTTP enabled. Why? You can change settings in the security tab – if you have Mapi over
HTTP enabled all options are grayed out (please correct me if I
    am wrong):
This is a very annoying thing – does anybody else have the same problem?
    Any suggestions on this?
    Marc

  • Google Maps web app not working??

I have not (for obvious reasons) bothered much with web apps since the original iPhone but given the current (and in my view, somewhat overblown) furore over Apple Maps, I thought I would put try out the Google Maps web app on my recently purchase iPhone 5. Weirdly, however, it doesn't work. The app itself loads but I am presented with a blank page and nothing happens when I click the target icon. This happens in both 3G and wifi. Location Services is on (and I am using O2 in the UK). Anyone got any ideas? I'm scratching my head over this.... Thanks in anticipation

Presumably you have already tried un-installing this application and re-installing prior to posting?

  • Google Maps Autocomplete field not working inside WebView

I am using a WebView to display Google Maps and the web page includes a "text" element which is a google.maps.places.Autocomplete control.
The maps themselves work perfectly but the Autocomplete field does not do the actual auto-completing. That is, as I type into it, it does not show a drop-down list of all matching locations although it does return the correct coordinates of any place I type in completely.
The same web page and the Autocomplete control work perfectly when I load them into a standard web browser.
Has anyone experienced this? How do I go about debugging this issue? Any suggested solutions?

    Try jdk8: http://jdk8.java.net/download.html
If it still doesn't work, file a bug: https://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=1713
If it is a bug in the WebView implementation, use HostServices.showDocument to show the document in a standard browser until the bug is fixed:

  • Maps - Transit directions not working!

All of the sudden for a reason unknown to me, my Maps app stopped giving me directions! The GPS works, it will find locations and my location but will not give directions. It shows "Transit directions could not be found between these locations" and I'm not using it any differently than I ever have, no other country or anything like that so I'm stumped!! HELP PLEASE....

I'm also experiencing a similar issue. When I attempt to get directions on the public transportation option I see the blue lines all over the place. Not sure if this was is a result of a recent update or not. The step-by-step directions are correct but the blue lines on the map are all jacked up.

  • Nokia Maps 2.0 not working

    Hi,
I've been using Nokia Maps 1.0 (including voice naviagtion) without any problems whatsoever for three weeks or so...since I got my new E65.
No I downloaded Maps 2.0 so as to be up-to-date....and now I can't make it work. I completed the installation and although it appears on my installed applications list it won't open and there is n Nokia Maps graphic, so something must be wrong.
Any ideas. I guess I'll go back to Maps 1.0 but I really wanted to give 2.0 a try

    Hi,
I can't exactly pinpoint what was that final "move" that worked.....but I'll tell you more or less all of which I did.
First of all I installed the Maps 2.0 file you're supposed to use when you have a previous version installed. So this didn't work. I tried deleting maps from the app.manager but just as it was about to complete the uninstall process it said there was an error.
Following a recommendation in Maps 2.0 FAQ's I erased the "cities" folder in my memory card. Afterwards I re-installed Maps 1.0. After doing this if I went into the app. manager Maps 2 would still show on the list, but it said "not installed"....even so I tried uninstalling and it worked. After this I then uninstalled the other Maps application that showed up on the list, presumably version 1.
After doing all of this I then tried going to maps.nokia.com to download the original version...I was unable to get the website working. I don't know if it was something do with my phone or not, so I re-installed Maps 1 using Nokia PC Suite and the downloaded Map Loader to get my maps again...remember to get the Map Loader from maps.nokia.com and not the one from the Beta Labs website.
This is more or less all of what I did yesterday night...let us know how you do and if you find a quicker way to get rid of Maps 2.
