  • Lightroom 5.2:  Map is offline

    Hi,
I have been having trouble with the map module in Lightroom 5.2 64bit on a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. It goes blank and after a while displays "Map is offline". Additionally the Adobe Air application "The Photographers Ephemeris" also cant display its map and Lightroom can't connect to Flickr. So my best guess is that somehow something is preventing my applications from accessing web services such as Google Maps and Flickr (Internet connection is fine, Lightroom and Maps work on my Laptop in the same network, and Google Maps works in different browsers). The Web module and Flash galleries in Lightroom work though. I think the cause for this is that a couple of days ago I used "Clear Browsing Data" in Chrome with all options (including "Clear data from hosted apps" and "Deauthorize content licenses"). I'm not entirely sure how Chrome could have an effect on these other apps but the timing of my problems really fits and before that everything worked fine.
I've googled the various problems which often tied the Maps problem to Adobe Air and Flash Player. I've already tried the following possible solutions without effect:
Removed the #Security folder in AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player
Added, removed, modified "ape-host:" in the "air.1.0.trust.cfg" in AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#Security\FlashPlayerTrust
Restored the entire AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\ folder to an older version
    Uninstalled and Reinstalled Flash Player
Run Lightroom without Flash Player or Adobe AIR installed
Run Lightroom and the other application as an Administrator
Reinstalled affected applications (tried it with "The Photographers Ephemeris")
    Windows Restore
None of these had any kind of effect. I also tried reinstalling Adobe AIR. That had the effect that the Maps Module worked for a short time before going blank again and showing "Map is offline". That was last night after which I put the PC in Sleep mode. This morning I wanted to try it further and Maps again didn't work at all. (Except for entering and exiting Sleep mode nothing was done with the PC).
The only thing left I can think of is to completely reinstall the OS, which I would really prefer not doing
I'm really hoping someone else here has some experience with this sort of problem
Thanks in advance for any ideas and tips you might have

  • "Map is Offline"  I Cannot Run Map

I cannot open Map in LR 5.6  I'm using a Dell 8500 with Win7 .  With LR 4, I could open Map and plot images.  With 5.6, when I click on Map, I get "Map is Offline," with the rotating circle.
I am online, with cable connection to broadband.  I can get everything else except LR Map, including Google Earth and Google Maps.  I have reinstalled LR and Adobe Air and restarted the computer.

    Hi Jerryc41,
It might help to accept the Application "Lightroom 5" in your Firewall.
Sometimes Security programs will not allow activity from other application trying to connect to the internet.
You can also try with a different Connection (Switching from Wifi to Cable connection)
    Hope this helps!

  • How much cache is available for apple maps & how long do maps remain offline?

Vector maps are stored in iphone 5 so that they can be used offline. This is the only good feature of the ios6 maps but how long do the maps last offline?

    Maps Mad wrote:

Not true. Offline data access is based on the app, which can opt to save maps (vector or raster maps) for use offline. Here's a source of geo apps that work offline http://bad-elf.com/pages/compatible-apps Many are intended for offline use so you download maps for a select country or state/province and needn't worry about internet or mobile phone service.
As of iOS 7.1, Apple Maps stores only the last viewed area necessitating an active data connection (eg, wifi or cellular) to refresh geo-data as navigating. Google Maps can be used easily but the map data must be explictly saved while online.

  • Ovi map search offline problem

Whenever I search for a location offline on my E72, I end up with no results available.
After fiddling with my phone for the better half of a day (including first using online search then turning off the internet to use offline search), I tried deleting all the maps on my memory card and installing only the maps for the areas I need through the OVI suite. Having read earlier threads on this topic, I was sure to wait until the index files were fully transferred.
Now the offline search works, but only for locations within my own city. For locations in the neighboring city, though only a few dozen miles away, I end up again with no results available.
Is this normal or is there any other way I can try fixing it? Thanks.

    Hi sherryglass
Unfortunately I think it is also related to size of country, as with world maps on E72 I can do detailed search of UK "Offline" but say for example USA it has to be "Online"; that said access point in OVI Maps application can be via WLAN or network.

  • Mapping to offline media

I copied a project from one computer to another.   All the media is contained is several subdirectories under a main project directory.  When the project is opened on the new computer all the media appears under Project Assets, but it is all offline.   When the project is first opened it prompts for the location of the first image in the timeline.   However, there are about 300 images in the video, so would like to avoid mapping to them individually if possible.   Is there a command that will search for and map all the media in its new location?

    Joe,
    Welcome to the forum.
ATR has given you some viable options.
The PrE Project file (PREL), uses absolute Paths to link to the media in the Project. If any part of that absolute Path is changed, or missing, then PrE cannot follow those links. When you moved things to the second computer, it is very likely that the absolute Paths were broken, and most likely as drive letters changed.
One can duplicate the folder scheme in the second computer, if it has a drive letter available, that matches that on the first computer. As an example, if the media was on the D:\ on the first computer, but now are on the C:\ of the second computer, Moving those media files, in their exact folder structure to D:\, would likely solve the issue. If this is not a possibility, then I recommend letting PrE do the relinking. It will do this, for all media assets in each folder, once the first one has been located. This will need to be repeated for each media asset folder, but otherwise is automatic for ALL used media assets in THAT folder. This article on "Where is File ___ ?" goes into more detail: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4598705#4598705 Also see this article on Media Offline: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3561281#3561281
I often migrate Projects between computers, and for that task, I use external FW-800 (IEEE-1394b) HDD's. I first set the drive letter of each of those external HDD's to be the exact same, in the OS of every computer, that will work on that Project. Then, when I Import my media, usually Copies of the files, in each folder, into the Project, the absolute Path to that media is the same, including the drive letter. This article goes into more detail on using external HDD's: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4542396#4542396 This setup would only be useful to you, at the very beginning of a Project, and not once media assets have been Imported into the Project from a previous absolute Path. Also, this article on Folder Setup might be useful for the next Project: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4028231#4028231
I think that the easiest method to get your Project easily from one computer, to another, would be ATR's recommendation to go back to the Project on the first computer, and use the Project Archiver, to Copy that Project and all media assets, to an external HDD (remember to set its drive letter in the OS of both computers, before you start). Then, the links via the absolute Paths will be the same, and you should not get any Media Offline, or the "Where is file ____ ?"
Good luck, and please report your progress,
    Hunt

  • Any word on Apple Maps having offline maps?

Coming from Windows Phone 8, I was very accustomed to using offline maps on my Lumia 920. With Nokia Drive, I was able to download an entire state map and use it to navigate offline. Since I rely heavily on GPS navigation for my job (and have limited data), I really hope Apple is working on something similar to Nokia's navigation app for WP8. Any word on this?

OK so I agree that you can get the basic street layout in airplane mode.
But I want to be able to get all the data - at very least the street names, and ideally landmark pins - which I don't currently get. Is there any way to control what level of detail is downloaded?

  • Why is the "Lightroom Help"(F1) and the "Map Module" Offline?

I ask because everything requiring Internet connection thru Lightroom appears fine, such as the Web Module! There is nothing wrong with my Home Network nor any usage of the Internet, except when it comes to the Map Module and contacting "Lightroom Help"(F1) from the HELP Menu within Lightroom! I have been using Lightroom for a couple of years without encountering this issue and am baffled as to how to address solving it. Any input would be appreciated!

This is a well-known issue with Lightroom. Lots of adjustment brush usage on a particular photo will cause high CPU usage.
If you need to do a lot of brushing, you may be better off doing these tasks in Photoshop.
By the way, I have no idea what SSBOD means, I have never seen that acronym before.

  • HERE maps offline on WP8

    Hi!
I have the Nokia 920 with version the  "Black" operating system. Version 8.0.10517.150
When using the HERE maps (NOT the HERE Drive+) - I get really weird behavior when trying to use HERE maps in offline mode. (This is typical when you travel abroad.)
    My config:
Data connection: Off  (this is yet too expensive when not being "home")
3G/4G: On (that you can make calls and send text messages)
Maps: I have alread Downloaded the correct maps for the region I´m visiting. This is stored in the phone
When I reach my new destination - the HERE maps application cannot find my new localization. (if it says anything it still pretends I´m back home). Only when I get hooked up to the internet via the first wi/fi connection - I can get the right position and map.
Also, when I leave the Hotel for instance (not being logged on to the internet via wi/fi ) The Here Maps keep telling me I´m in a position back home. It lloses the right the position I had just minutes ago when I was at the Hotel and connected to the Internet via wi/fi.
This cannot be the correct offline behaviour - right?
How do I do to fix this issue?

Here maps is a real disspointment. Why should I need navigation or recommendation to shopping, restaurants etc when I am at my hometown. I am  not a tourist in  my own country. I only need navigation when I am overseas. Nokia could have done better if they continued to provide AGPS in older phones like X7. Who can afford data roaming in another country. If that's the case, I might as well buy a local Gps for pennies. Nokia your thinking is really warped....... No more nokia, perhaps an old nokia.
Not sure whats dissapointed you ? There are many users who are not fully conversant with all the areas of their home town ..Atleast I am not in the city of M'mbai..so I use Navigation as well as other features even locally .
..and get almost instanteneous GPS lock even with Mobile data 'OFF' and with 'Offline' maps..even while roaming ..

  • Lightroom 4.4 Map Module blinks "Offline" when moved or zoomed.

Lightroom 4.4 Map Module blinks "Offline" when moved or zoomed.
As stated, every time I move the map with the mouse or zoom the map using any method the map blinks into "offline" condition to redraw. This is not only annoying but drastically slows down work flow.
    How can this be stopped?
    Macbook Pro 2010 i7 8GB RAM
    Thanks,

To see what I see, turn off your internet by shutting off your wireless card or disconnecting your ethernet if hard wired. The map will turn into a grey full-earth map and have the note "map is offline."
Woody 77 may be correct but the problem follows me from location to location and happens when others are getting no problems at all.
I was wondering if there was some form of optimizing I could do to improve performanc. Perhaps I am having a problem with my airport card.

  • Ovi Maps with stored offline satelllite images fro...

    Hello
So far I know that it's not possible to use the built-in satellite view from Ovi Maps when offline.
But might it be possible to configure Ovi Maps such that it takes stored satellite images from a specific location on the phone (e.g. memory card) instead of downloading them from its pre-configurated map server?
If so, it would be possible to download maps / sat images from Google, Microsoft Live, Yahoo or whatever and include them in Ovi Maps - would be a great feature!

    nobody an idea?

  • Can I use offline maps with GPS on the 5C?

I am going on vacation abroad soon and my new iPhone 5C will be non-roaming because of the stupidly expensive internet data charges when out of the phone provider's home country. I will probably even pull the SIM card out to be 100% sure.
But I would still like to use it for GPS positioning when I am out walking about and then I must use off-line maps (like I have done with Google Maps on my Android phone).
Is it possible to download off-line maps to the iPhone while I am in the hotel and have a Wi-Fi connection and then the phone will use the downloaded maps when I am walking about the place outside of WiFi range?
If so, how do I set it up?

On the Android phone I have used MyTacks, which I believe is a Google app. I use version 1.1.16 currently and it is NOT able to use cached maps even though I can save maps in Google Maps for offline use while driving.
So if I use Google Maps I can see where I am now on the downloaded offline map, but there is no tracing of the walked path being done. If I use My Tracks it records the track but I cannot see it on a map until I am back in WiFi range.
I had hoped for the iPhone 5C to at least provide the possibility to use cached maps when locating my position....
What app do you suggest I use?

  • Offline view of Google My Maps (and Editing too)

I used to use Mapsy, a great little app that allowed to edit Google My Maps. It no longer works
I also looking at option to view my customize maps (Google My Maps) offline.
A web search did not give me quite the choices I was looking for...
    Tks
    Max

As this also had me stumped for a while here's a small howto for everyone else.  The basic problem we're solving is you will be travelling to an area where you have no data connection but want to store a Google Map of the area you're going to.  You want to retain zoom levels and all details of the original maps.
To do this I am using a Linux PC with Firefox to prepare maps for offline use on an iPad 2.  The basic instructions can be found here on youtube I elaborate a bit and fill in the blanks.  First install the current screengrab plugin for Firefox.  Then visit Google Maps and select the area you want, and set the correct zoom level you need.
If you do not want your map centred around the pin you must clear the pin (by using the drop down on the right of the map with the other satellite/terrain options) and re-center the map.  Finally copy the link to the map, which is currently on the left panel of Google Maps, paste into a text file and edit the size as in the video.  Save this as a map.html file and load again into Firefox.  Use the screengrab plugin to save this as a large .png image file (can me many Mb in size).  At this stage you can modify the image to add markers to points of interest if you require.
To get this file on your iPad - Use a site like this one to convert the image into a .pdf.  Upload this .pdf to your Dropbox account, then finally using the Dropbox app on the iPad download the .pdf onto your iPad's bookshelf.  The png and pdf files can be big, 10Mb or more, so be patient with the iPad while it renders them.
Et voila, a permanently stored copy of a piece of Google Maps.

  • LR4 Offline -Map Module etc

I'm at a loss, been using Lightroom for past 3yrs with no network problems but recently when attempting to use the Map Module I am receiving a Lightroom Error stating that the Map is "Offline" and to check your network connection? My Mac Pro is connected to everything throughout my Network with no problems except for the LR connection. I'm unable to trace to any past installation of any Apps or Software, it just appeared out of the blue a couple of weeks ago. As stated, any and all apps and software requesting a network connection to the Internet or Home Network connects without any issue-all EXCEPT LR 4!
Anyone who may have heard of this issue and may have a suggestion as to how to address this mystery would be greatly appreciated. I'm totally baffled!

I have issues with tha Map module in LR 4.2 as well. My internet connection is fine, but I get a flashing world map and message "Map Offline" every time Google Maps are not updating instantly but have a response time of more than half a second. This sometimes happens several times a minute. This is extremely annoying and I would consider this a bug. Can the time-out for detecting that maps really are offline due to no internet connection being available be increased somehow?
PS: Sorry for the stupid screen name, but I didn't want to spend more than 10 minutes receiving error messages saying that all sensible names were unavaible.

  • Accessing maps offline

Could someone please explain all the little details to accessing maps offline like, what positioning methods you have to use, etc. Thanks because its frustrating. Oh, I have E5
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    There are 2 separate things...
First you have to set the Maps to OFFLINE by going in the Internet Option in the Maps Settings / Options..This will now use the already installed Maps Data. If the Maps are set ONLINE, the latest Maps data gets downloaded continuously and the amount of data usage will be quite high..
Other point to be set is under 'Positioning'.. Enabling ONLY the Integrated GPS Method will ensure that absolutely NO Data usage takes place. But you need to be in area open to sky..and to get the initial positioning (GPS Lock) it may take in excess of 30 minutes depending on the Topography of your location and the Weather. Area with tall buildings / trees and rainy / cloudy weather means a much longer wait. A-GPS will provide a much faster LOCK but will use a few KBs ( just about 10-20 KBs) of Data every time the application is launched.
