Hi newboss
It is just the "voice navigation" feature that will cease to function, you can still find your position on map, plan journeys but you won't get real time instructions unless you purchase a new license.

  • How to install OVI Map navigation for N95

Ok, getting very frustrated with this now.  I have given my dad my N95 to help him get around but just cant get the map navigation to work.  I downloaded the Nokia Map Loader (I had to go to a third party website as the Nokia links were all broken) and have the map/voices but when my dad tries to use the navigation it tells him he has to pay.
Obviously, I know that Nokia have now made these services free to complete with other company's devices, I'm just being stupid and not going to the right place to download them.  When i go to www.nokia.com/maps on the phone it doesnt do anything.  I've been trying for over a day now and the phone has almost made contact with the wall a few times - sorry to be a numpty, but how do you install the OVI map navigation stuff on the N95! :-)

    @Cowes67
Let's clear up any misunderstanding here, upon N95 there is no legititimate way of obtaining free voice navigation with version of Ovi Maps upon N95 as you would need to purchase a license!
You should run Ovi Maps application with a microSD inserted in N95 which will re-create necessary folder structure for Nokia Suite > Maps to recognise it.
Please note that standalone version of Nokia Maploader apart from version for Mac users ceased to be functional several years ago.
I still have N95 in use so post again if any further queries over this issue.

  • My n8 ovi maps navigation - is Completley unreliab...

I was trying my new n8 ovi maps , navigating in Lithuania, before going on our family annual caravan summer trip.
This proved to be a catastrophe. The software is copleteley unreliable, and in fact , the worst navigation software I ever tried. Here are some of the issues:
    1. Navigation uses unpaved roads as default choice , even if I choose "no" on preferences.
    2. routs are often proven completely false, often misleading the user to dead ends or no road at all. This happens almost every time when traveling outside of the capital - Vilnius.
    3. Browsing the map on chosen rout during navigation is quite difficult and not useful.
    4. Addresses search is not practical , since it usually ask for exact address, and spelling mistakes are not recognized otherwise there are no results. This is very important when traveling abroad.
I was very disappointed , because the main reason I bought N8 , was of the promises for free navigation . We are planning to go on a trip within 2 weeks , and I don't know what to do.
is there any other good compatible navigation program ?
    can you solve these problems?
are these problems confined to Lithuania only (hard to believe)?

  • Google Maps Navigation and Google Music problem

    Hello,
I love the LG G2 but it has a few concerning issues. First, is the squealling, hissing, cracking, popping, etc. during phone calls, but I have seen that brought up by others.
The second problem that I've discovered, and the most upsetting to me, is that when using the Google Maps Navigation and Google Music All Access at the same time, whenever the navigation voice instructs a direction, the music shuts off. It is then silent until the navigation voice instructs the next direction OR when a new track starts. This was not a problem on my droid bionic, so it must be an LG G2 issue. This is a huge problem to me as I travel a lot for work and usually use GPS to find where I'm going, and I subscribe to Google Music All Access so I listen to music in the car. This problem makes that impossible to do (I have to choose).
A related issue, is that my Alpine CD player displayed track information (Artist, Song, Album) with my Droid Bionic, but with the LG G2 it displays 'UNKNOWN'. I find it hard to believe that a two year old phone has capabilities that a brand new phone wouldn't, so I'm hoping these issues will be fixed with a software patch.
Has anybody else experienced these issues, or does it work fine with your LG G2?

Hawaii is a part of the USA so you will be fine there. Mexico on the other hand, you will be roaming for data there and could see extra charges for international data.

  • HT4993 Maps navigation has been deleted, how can I get it back?

Maps navigation has been deleted, how can I get it back?

If you mean the built-in Maps app, you can't delete it.  Search all your screens and inside all your folders.  You can also use Spotlight search on your phone to locate it and if it's inside a folder, the name of the folder will show to the right of the Maps icon.  If you still can't find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.  This will restore the home screen to its original configuration but may move other apps around to do so.

The least problems you'll have with miniDV cameras. About any miniDV camera will connect to a Mac via Firewire. HDD cameras are an open invitation to trouble, especially as you speak of older computers.
There are well-featured models out there now for 2-300 bucks. But watch out for cameras that connect to the computer via a dock. I had two Sony with these @#$% docking stations .... both docks broke and rendered the cameras useless for capturing. replacing the dock was nearly the price of a new cam.

You can make some limited changes in Settings>Maps.

  • Installing ios8.2 does not resolve Google map navigation problem or gps tracking!

Installing ios 8.2 does not resolve Google map navigation problem.

I have tried to install both of them lots of times but in each case I receive the same in my XE.bat file:
    Instance created.
    DIM-00019: create service error
O/S-Error: (OS 1387) Unable to add or remove a member from the local group because this member does not exist.
Have checked OS 1387 error at Microsoft Support and as possible cause of the problem they give as follows:
This issue can occur if the environment has a disjointed namespace (i.e. the domain has different NetBIOS and DNS names). For example, assume that the domain has a NetBIOS name of "domain.com" and a DNS name of "domain-old.com." When users are added in the Windows UI, they are displayed in the format of domain\ComputerName. However, you notice in the error log that there was an attempt to add a computer account in the format of domain-old\ComputerName. (System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager install fails and generates ID: 4323: "A member could not be added")
Tried to find out my DNS name, but it is impossible because I don't have any domain installed and my machine is not connected to it. Some other blog (Install Oracle 11gR2 on Windows) advices to work with adding my computer account to some non-real windows domain (just for the purpose of resolving the network) as well and reinstall the database then. If I undestand it right I need minimum 2 machines for this. But I own just one, where the server is based and thought that is enough to run the database... no idea ..

  • OVI MAPS NAVIGATION EXPIRED

@bbao back in July 2014, Nokia created a FAQ article, stating the discontinuation of paid Nokia Maps licences. There was no reason given. Obviously, that statement was wrong in parts. With the end of HERE support through Nokia (now ‘Microsoft Mobile’), they removed that FAQ article. ‘Therefore’, this link is broken now.
    bbao wrote:

Well, it is an issue in parts:
    Certificate Warning
    to workaround, install Nokia » Menu » Internet » traud.de/ta » intermediates » VeriSign …
transferring a licence to another SIM does not work for me, anymore
Please, do not even try! You are going to loose your lifetime licence for walking (City Explorer).
Nokia Maps » Options » Shop & licences: Does not update, anymore
buying any new licence does not work for me, anymore
All you can do is to renew an already bought region licence.
You need to start a journey (‘drive there’). Then, when you have a GPS lock and after 30 seconds, only then, you are able to renew your navigation licence for driving.

    Help

    Guys,
I have been suffering from all the problems you mention in this forum. However, I have just found this link which is for the Maps 3.0 downloader. Seems to have a lot more features. Lets hope it has a few less bugs. Downloaded it, but it is taking rather a long time to install. It had to delete all old map data, as it is apparently not compatible with this new version.
Will let you know how it runs, eventually !!

  • N97 - Maps/Navigation Question (probably a rather ...

I have managed to update my actual maps. So that's good. My compass seems to work, so that is also good.
Before the Maps update I managed to save my home address and set it as a Favourite. Since the update of Maps (the app) and the actual maps themselves, I can't seem to save another Favourite location – such as my work address.
So, this may be a very dumb question, but I'm allowed a few surely? LOL Phones I'm OK with, computers are my livelihood – but GPS is a whole new confusing world to me. OK – I get the basic concept – my device communicates with a silver dish in the sky and decides where I am, I tell it where I want to go, it determines where that is and charts a route for me and guides me on my way (I hope – if the Telstra ad on TV here is any indication, that could be problematic).
How do I save a darn new address and make it a Favourite – I can't even save an address now, yet clearly I did before, because my home address is still there.
Also, I gather I have to subscribe to this thing if I actually want driving instructions etc. For $79.99 a year, it seems rather expensive – what am I actually getting for that $79 when the use of the satellite seems to be charged on my phone bill.
    I'm so confused.
Can someone please give me a kindergarten intro to GPS/Maps/what am I paying for/anything else I need to know?  How to save an address would be a good start!  Or is the answer to that, that my trial period has run out?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Dear Advanced Sage.
There are 4 components to a "SatNav" system.
1 - A GPS device, which triangulates your position using satellites in space. The same principle that land surveyors use to locate a point by measuring its distance from (at least) 2 other points.Your location is identified as a pair of co-ordinates on the world mapping convention system, latitude and longitude.
    2 - A digitised map (or twelve).
3 - Some software which  locates the identified co-ordinates on the digitised map, and the co-ordinates of any other "known"location. The map includes data about the various roads between the 2 identified locations, and determines the permutations of ways to get from A to B. According to your chosen priorities (faster route, shorter route, no toll roads, no ferries, etc) the software will inform you of the "best" route. It will normally do this by showing you this route, possibly step by step, on the screen of your SatNav.
The cost of these 3 elements  is paid for (once and for all) in the purchase of the phone.
To make the work of the number 1 component easier, that is, the task of the GPS to locate you in the first place, the GPS designers came up with AGPS - "Assisted" GPS. The assistance comes from the phones natural ability know where it is to a crude, but useful, extent by knowing the location of its "cell". This knowledge helps the GPS to calculate its position more quickly, by narrowing down its area of search. For the GPS to acquire this information, it needs to use the phones data connection to send and receive a small chunk of data about the cell, which gives the initial rough position to the GPS.
If you select this AGPS option in your "Positioning" settings, you have to pay for the data connection, or it will come from your data allowance. It's not a lot, and speeds up the operation of the GPS, but it's not necessary for the operation of the GPS.
4 - If, in addition to the visual directions from A to B, as shown on your screen, you want the SatNav to give you directions as you travel, this is known as "Navigation". It's like having a Navigator (as in rallying) sitting in the passenger seat, giving you directions as you go.
Nokia charge a license fee for this "Navigation". From what I've seen recently, the current licenses on offer cover periods up to 1 year. I bought my Navigation license for my old N95, and I was then able to buy a 3 year license, which worked out cheaper per year. I've now tranferred my license from my old N95 to my new N97.
Actually, I didn't have to do anything to "transfer" the license. You can set the license, on the Nokia server, to be linked to either your sim card, or your phone. If you link it to your phone, it will work with any sim card in the phone. If you link it to the sim card, your license will work. no matter what (nokia SatNav) phone you put your sim card in.
    That's about it really.
To sum up, the GPS, software, and maps are all included in the price of the phone, including the software and maps updates. If you choose AGPS you will have to pay for the small data charges from your data allowance. (There's no point in buying this phone without an "unlimited" data allowance - personal opinion). For "Navigation", turn-by-turn direction, you will have to pay for a license.
For what it's worth. I still have my old N95. I felt sorry for it, it's still a great phone, because it was left with no "Navigation" license, although I still had a perfectly working GPS. So I treated it to a copy of Garmin Mobile XT software. This installed perfectly on the N95, and, unlike the Nokia "Navigation" license, you only pay once. There's no term license. Once you've bought it, it's yours. It cost £50 GBP, and is accurate and easier to use than Nokia Maps. It wouldn't work on my N97, though, so I guess it is only for Symbian 3 devices, not Symbian 5. I bought a cheap "Pay and Go" sim card, to enable the Garmin software to use AGPS. The first time I used it thoug, it worked perfectly, and was quick to find my location, even without the AGPS assistance. A lovely bit of software.
    Phew ...

  • IView Navigation Help

    Hi Experts,
How can I navigate from a Nested iView to another Nested iView one level up?
My application is such that the Parent iView contains multiple Nested iViews, which individually contain the logic to Book Holidays, Display Holidays, and Modify Holidays etc. After creating a holiday request, I want the application to jump to the Display Holidays iView, where the new request can be seen on a graph. The problem is the iView I want to navigate to is one level above where the Create logic is so I can't map an event from the Create Form's submission to the Display iView.
I've tried using the 'Navigate' components under connectors (which sounds perfect) but this is an unsupported component and doesn't work (on our setup).
For clarity, the application's structure can be visualised as:
    Holiday Application (Parent iView)
    ...1. Display Holidays (Nested iView)
    ...2. Create Holidays (Nested iView)
    ........2.1 Submit Form (event)
    ...3. Modify Holidays (Nested iView)
    ........3.1 Submit Form (event)
After submitting the form I want to jump to the Display Holidays nested iView.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Andrew

    hi,
First let me confirm if i understood your problem correctly.
You have 3 nested iviews display holidays, Create holidays, and modify holidays.
From display holidays you are navigating to create holidays and modify holidays.
once you navigate to create holidays or modify holidays and after creating or modifying the holidays you will press a button on the form, once you press this button you want to go back to the display holidays.
what are the other things that you have in the layers along with the nested iviews. If you dont have anything other than nested iviews use the following steps.
    1. Remove the layers and keep only the nested iviews.
    2. create a data store to store the value for the action in display holidays. for eg: when you click on create holidays store 'Create' and when you click on modify holidays store 'modify'. now use the outport and assign the value stored in the data store.
    3. Create a similar data store in create holidays and display holidays and assign the values 'displayholidays' to both these actions.
    4. Create a data store in the main screen that is in the level where you have all the nested iviews and connect all the outports to this datastore and assign the corresponding values coming from the nested iviews.
    5. set the visibility condition on all the nested iviews. eg: visibility condition for display holidays will be true when the store@maindatastore=='displayholidays' and visibility condition for create will be true when store@maindatastore=='create'.
by doing this you will see only that screen which will satisfy the condition.
let me know if this solves your problem.
    Regards,
    Rk.
