MapBuilder Base Maps - Can multiple connections be used?

Hi all,
I'm a complete MapViewer and Oracle newbie, and instead have a GIS/cartography background. I am currently looking to design an enterprise wide mapping service using MapViewer middleware.
I have built up a base map using MapBuilder containing various raster and vector layers held within an Oracle DB, but i now need to add an address data layer which is held on a seperate Oracle DB and therefore requires a separate connection with MapBuilder. My first question then is, is it possible to build a single base map in MapBuilder that include's geometry/georaster themes from more than one DB source?

Hi Robin,
no. Basemap definitions use themes that are in the same schema. But you are able to add individual themes based on tables from different schemas.

This Airport Extreme base station can't connect to iCloud

I have a Airport Extreme base station (model A1408) running firmware 7.6.4.
In troubleshooting a Back to My Mac issue, I noticed that the configuration page for the base station had a yellow dot next to my apple id in the "Back to My Mac" section of the "Base Station" tab, with words underneath that say, "This Airport Extreme base station can't connect to iCloud".
When I delete the id and re-enter it, the dot goes green and no errors are generated (the id/password tokens are accepted). Then, I push "Update", and after the base station comes back, the light is yellow again. (To be clear, the dot next to the apple id is yellow, not the base station status light, which is always green.)
I'm connected to Xfinity Cable Internet service via a Motorola SB6141.
Everything iCloud related works for my various iOS and MacOS devices except Back to My Mac.
Can anyone point me to a solution? I've already been through Apple's troubleshooting and support docs related to Back to My Mac.

NEVER MIND!
After reverting to the old LinkSys router, I left the AEBS powered up all night. This morning, I tried once again and the AEBS mysteriously started working with my laptop after reconnecting and power-cycling the cable modem. Go figure!
Unfortunately, the iMac in another room doesn't seem to be able to join the new network, but I'll close this thread and perhaps open a new one after doing some more trouble-shooting.

For what purpose are you trying to connect the two?
Bluetooth between iOS devices is limited to only specific peer-to-peer apps for specific functions (like mutiplayer games).
You cannot just pair the devices, you need an app that specifically uses Bluetooth for communication.

If the printers connect using wireless only, the Time Capsule will support up to 50 connections.

Can multiple APEX application use the same parsing schema?

Hi,
I have 4.2 APEX thru pl/sql Gatewat, 11gr2 DB and using theme 24.
Due to the APEX limitation for version control I would be splitting 1 big ERP applications into 24 different APEX applications and each application would be considered as 1 unit for version control.
I have about 800 tables and I would assume that all of these would need to be stored in 1 schema since a lot of these table are linked thru FK.
Can I have multiple APEX APPS using the same parsing schema? or is there a better way to do this?

Hi,
Multiple applications can have same (one) parsing schema.
You can test that on e.g. apex.oracle.com, where normally you have only one schema and you create multiple applications and all use that same schema.

Can Cisco connect be used for small business web filtering?

I am searching for a web filtering solution for our small church. The core requirement is to use a hardware-based solution to filter all internet traffic. Our current wiring looks like this: [ISP router] --> [switch] --> [Open Mesh wireless access points]. Can I connect a Linksys EA2700/3500/4500/6500 between the [ISP router] and the [Switch], disable the Linksys wireless, and use Cisco Connect to filter all the internet traffic?
More info: We will only have a handful of wired/wireless devices which we have control over. We expect most of the rest of the traffic to be generally outside our control via personally owned devices connecting thru the public wifi. Therefore any solution which requires installation of software on individual devices will not work.
(If there are other threads on this topic I'd be more than happy to read them, I just couldn't find any.)

Can't connect and use 2 Store.E Canvio HDDs at the same time

Hi there,
I have 2 Store.e Canvio devices: 2TB and 3TB respectively but, it looks like I can't connect/use them at the same time, as if I do, one of them (the lastest I have connected), becomes inaccessible ("denied access").
If I disconnect the first device I connected, the second one, starts working,,,
Is a weird issue,and I can't find anyone experiencing something similar...
Any idea how could it be causing this, and/or how could I solve it?

Im wondering if the same problem appears using another computer or additional USB hub with an additional power supply.
From my point of few this issue could be related to low power provided by single USB port.
Both HDDs seem to support the USB 3.0 standard.
The common USB 2.0 port provides 500mA and USB 3.0 requires 900mA
So this means that two USB devices connected simultaneously would use 1800mA which might be too much for the notebooks USB ports

Can't connect iMac using wi fi

I had been connecting to the internet on my iMac via wi fi for a number of years. Until today. Can't seem to connect no matter what I do. Strange thing is, my iPhone and iPad can both connect to my wi fi network just fine. I'm using ethernet now, but would prefer to use wi fi (hate the cables, but yes, I think ethernet is faster). How can I start from scratch and get my mac to forget all the wi fi info save on my mac. I had played around with the settings and I think I messed up everything.

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

Galaxy S5 can't connect to use google maps

I can connect to the internet using either data or wifi. But google maps doesn't work on either. Is there a GPS on/off section. It's a brand new phone. I have no idea what I'm doing or why I can't use the maps.

Fixed it. I searched for GPS and checked the correct box.

Can multiple Virtual Devices use the same IVI Driver Sessions?

I am using Switch Executive 2.0 and I'm having problems creating multiple Virtual Devices.
I have created a virtual device on a development computer that has no hardware connected to it. This virtual device uses specific drivers to simulate the devices. The problem I'm having is that when I create a second virtual device and try to add the same IVI Switches as the first Virtual device, I'm getting the following error:
An error has occurred while attempting to access the device deviceA_ivi.
Error -223116 occurred:
Internal Software error occurred in Switches software. Please contact National Instruments Support.

Can someone please explain why?

Can you please elaborate on how did you create those simulated devices? Namely, what does your IVI configuration look like? What does the driver session for the logical name look like? What's the software module? What's the hardware module? What is the driver setup string, and what is the simulation mode for the device in question?

Can multiple OracleIDs be used to access datatase in a single HTMLDB app?

In one of the apps we're looking to put together (w/ HTMLDB), we currently control database access using Fine-Grained-Access (with policies on tables that generate WHERE predicates based on the Oracle UserID in the session context). The way we currently have HTMLDB set up, it seems to be using a single "proxy" ID (HTMLDB_PROXY_USER) as the means of accessing the database, which means FGAC can't work.
Can this be configured to use other UserIDs when accessing/querying the db?
And...if so, can those IDs be specified somehow, either programmatically or at login time?

So - is it safe to assume that the "v()" function is an element of HTMLDB that is installed and made public when HTMLDB is installed then?
Reason I ask is because we are thinking we could modify our existing predicate logic to check for the existence of the APP_USER value, and if it exists, use that instead of the SYS_CONTEXT() call, in our predicate generation function. However, seems like we'll also need some check as to whether the "v" function exists (ie. whether HTMLDB is installed), since the policy might be running in an environment where the HTMLDB app wasn't installed. But to even be able to compile Or, even where HTMLDB was installed, the query could be coming from a connection outside of the HTMLDB app. Does that sound reasonable?
Further, whether we use the existing SESSION_USER context var or the APP_USER one is really no big deal. The bigger question seems to come from mgmt of the user accounts used to access the application. Ideally, we want to be able to support access to the tables, either from the HTMLDB app or from external points (SQL*plus, Discoverer, etc). So the least common denominator seems to be Oracle (database level) UserIDs. However, can an HTMLDB app authenticate
using actual Oracle database UserIDs? That is, delegate the authorization to the database itself? And if it does, will the UserID be available via the APP_USER var, or some other...?

Can I connect and use a Dell projection unit..several years old...with my new Macbook Pro? do i just need an adaptor for the multi-pin plug?

I would like to use my old Dell projection unit with my new Macbook Pro laptop, but obviously there is no such plug in the Macbook. Is there an adaptor I can connect and make it work? Without the old "F" keys, how do I get the Macbook to provide output to the projection unit? I don't see an icon on a button anywhere?

You have to determine what connection options are available on the projector. You probably will need a Mini-displayport (Thunderbolt) adapter. that can accommodate the projector.

I firstly need to apologise for being not that technically minded when it comes to soundcards and audio equipment. I have good ears and really appreciate high quality music. I have nearly $2000US of AV equipment that I want to connect to my sound card.
In the past I have been unable to use any of the Creative Labs products (looking back a few years) as they did not have an SPDIF inerface. My old motherboard did, but has now being retired.
) I need to be able to connect my AV amp via the SPDIF connection and also a microphone using a normal headphone plug (no idea what you call that connection), and be able to use both at the same time. My old motherboard allowed this with ease, but it would appear that not all of the creative labs sound cards will!
2) The SPDIF connection must be located at the back of the computer. Connecting it at the front of the machine will be unsightly and dangerous to have the lead lying around in my current situation
3) The mic connection can be located at the front or the back of the computer. A connection at the rear of the computer would be preferred.
May I ask what is the cheapest X-Fi soundcard in the range that will allow this. I don't believe that spending more money will by me better sound quality when it comes to playing movies and music over the SPDIF interface.
I am not interested in any fancy features, or special game acceleration modes or enhancments. Just good quality music through an SPDIF connection, and the ability to use a mic to talk to ppl online.
From my research it would appear the cheapest option is the (expensi've) Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum

Yes, you can connect the card via a jack situated on the back of the card - you just need a cable with stereo minijack and RCA. All the older Creative cards (since Li've!) have that SPDIF output on the back, on the form of a mini-jack. It is labeled as "digital".
The ONLY problem is that you will be able to send surround sound via SPDIF only if it is encoded DD or DTS on a DVD-ROM. The card itself will not encode surround sound CREATED in the PC. So, games, mp3's, CD's all will be stereo PCM. I guess that your old MoBo SPDIF was in the same situation (except for a SoundStorm integrated from nVidia that does DD 5. encoding on the fly). If you don't care about gaming performance, Turtle Beach make a card that does DolbyDigital encoding on-the-fly - they are calling this Dolby Digital Li've.
About mikes: one mike input is existing on the back of the card, and another one on the expansion bay (if you have platinum version). both of them will take only a el-cheapo (electret/condenser mike), not a proffesional one.
