Mapped Folders Stay

Good Day,
I am a little perplexed about something.  I have a MS 2008R2 domain, with windows 7 clients and we are switching from log-in scripts to using the GPO preference to map folders.  The GPO is build with multiple OU's and different GPO's per OU specifying
which mapped folders the users in that OU get.  One problem keeps popping up though.   If i move a user from one OU to another OU, the original mapped folders will still show up.  i.e. if OU-A maps folders to  R, S, and T, and I move a
user to OU-B that only Maps S & T, R still shows up.  How do i make it not be as persistent?   I do not have the reconnect checkbox checked.

Are you using (C)reate, (R)eplace, (U)pdate, or (D)elete ?

  • How to make folders stay collapsed in list view in finder?

could someone please tell me if there is a way to make folders stay collapsed next time you open that particular folder (like they used to in tiger)
let me explain this in more detail
back in tiger, when you were in list mode, when you press right arrow on a folder it was expanding its contents, but the next time you open that folder those folders were collapsed, whereas in leopard it remembers the folders you expanded and they stay expanded forever (or until you collapse them all again manually)
i think its a lot more logical for them to stay collapsed next time you're opening that folder because if you have a lot of subfolders and they're all expanded when you open the folder next time its huge, the side scroller bar is tiny and its very difficult to find your stuff
if someone has a solution for this it would be greatly appreciated
    thank you very much

    thanks for your reply
actually CMD+A & CMD+left arrow only collapses the folders of the folder youre in, and not all the levels of subfolders that youve opened
if i could do CMD+A & CMD+left arrow to collapse all the levels of expanded subfolders that would be fine but imagine how much time it would take to locate everything that youve expanded and collapse it manually if you have about 10 levels of subfolders?
i find this incredibly frustrating, has anyone else got any suggestions?

  • Finder folders stay open in list view

I am having a problem with the Finder. When looking at folders in list view, certain folders stay open every time I look at a certain directory. If I close the folders and re-open the surrounding folder, the triangles are back down again! These are folders I had open a week ago and I don't need them open any more. It is very frustrating to open a folder, and have five open folders within it that I don't need open! I have to close them several times a day!
How do I make it so that my Finder rembers that those should be closed? I am not sharing files or folders with any other computer or user.
I had this problem on my laptop and I thought that maybe my external HD had some indexing issues. But now it is happening on my brand new imac with folders in the hard drive.

Maybe some of the invisible .DS_Store files in your folders are corrupt.
Launch your Terminal and paste the blue code below into it.
Press Return and type in your password - press Return again and wait for the word 'done.' to appear.
    Then quit the Terminal.
sudo find / -name \.DS_Store -exec rm -fP {} \;;echo done.
Next, relaunch the Finder - press Command Option - click and hold down the Finder in your Dock and select Relaunch.
    Good luck,
    Tom

  • Acrobat 9 and X folders stay in registry and program files.

    Hi,
I could see two folders of Acrobat 9 and 10 are present in my program files folder and also in registry. Our installer searches path and copy .api file in the folder.
Now, it would be bit confusing for the installer to pick up the active installed version (either 9 or 10).
Can anyone please let me know how to recognize the active version?

  • Error Code 0x82bc1095 trying to map folders in Address Book synching with MS Outlook 2003 SP3t

Help please. My BB Curve 8900 OS v5 has suddenly stopped synchronising with my MS Outlook 2003 SP3. It gets as far as address book then stops, giving error message " One or more configured folders is not availablr. Update mapping field and try again". Configuring my organiser, when I click on a tab I get another message saying "No available Message stores". I click on OK and get the tabbed page opern but the mapping folders field is empty and greyed out.
If I click on Map Fields, I get another error message "Error encountered. Error code 0x82bc1095"
No synchronisation takes place at all.
I am far from technically minded, say about one step above being a Luddite. Can anyone please advise me?

Thanks for your suggestion, but things have moved since then. I tried swapping my mapisvc by changing the extension to 'old' and running the repair, but this did not recreate a mapisvc.inf file, so I changed the extension back to inf. I also uninstalled Outlook Connector as other threads have suggested.
However another thread suggested resetting the organiser using the reset settings button.  I did this, but the DTM will not now let me set up synchronisation with my Outlook. Outlook is shown as an option, along with Yahoo and ASCII.
It just lets me go through the process but does not produce a tick in the appropriate box at the end.
I did tell it to synch with Yahoo to see if it would take and it does, but when I try to change it to Outlook it does not register the change (leaving it as Yahoo). I have to select 'none' to clear the tick.
You can probably tell that I'm useless at this sort of thing and I'm getting very frustrated with the whole thing. I've had numerous problems ever since I upgraded the device software. I think that if I ever get this working again, I will not do anything else.
Hope you can help an old duffer and thanks again for your input.

  • Reading files from shared mapped folders

How is the correct approach to read files from a volume which maps a shared disk?
I mean, we have the Y:\Folder which maps \\bla_bla\root\folder.
Our application has to read into Y:\Folder.
How do we create a File object which points to Y:\Folder?
    Thanks.

    > We catch a java.lang.NullPointerException
Okay. You know how to debug those, right? Some condition exists that is causing an NPE (that line alone won't do it), so you'll need to do some investigating.
    How to resolve a java.lang.NullPointerException
You'll want to ensure that the directory actually exists, you've mapped it correctly, you have the appropriate permissions to access it, etc.
    Good luck!

  • Deleted Folders Stay Visible

This seemed to start just recently, but when I delete a folder from a project (using right-click, delete from within CFB), the folde stays visible with the red X.
How do I get these to go away?
    RLS

Yes, I am using a source control.
I have committed numerous times, rebooted once, restarted ColdFusion Builder twice more on top of that. They just won't go away. Quite frustrating.

  • BB Maps Screen Stays White-Urgent Help Needed

I'm using a BB Pearl 8130 under Telus and it seems that whenever I activate the GPS option in BB Maps and it begins to move with my position the screen begins to appear white where the new part of the maps should be.  This eventually results in a white screen with my arrow position on it and that's it.
I've tried closing and reopening the app., pulling the battery and waiting for 5 mins. nothing, I've also cleared the memory for BB Maps and nothing happens.  I've also checked my phones total memory and it is at 12401841 bytes of free space so that shouldn't be affecting the program.  The only thing that I haven't done yet and am dreading is to completely reset the phone back to it's default.  If anyone has had this problem or know how to fix it, it would be extrememly appreciated as I usually use BB Maps alot for navigating around in areas I'm not familiar with.
    Exodus_161

I've checked around the forums regarding issues with white screens and it seems that the issues everyone else is having is a full out white screen.  In my case I still have control over my Pearl and can still close and run any other program effortlessly.  I can still see my tracking arrow in the BB Maps as well as my dashboard containing heading, speed, etc. and they all report accurately, I just lose the actual map itself.
I did read that Telus has their own GPS program now as well for an "additional" fee monthly but that is ridiculous because if Rim created a map program and Telus makes a point to let you know about this option then it should work, should it not? lol

  • Server 2008R2 mapping to shared folders fails users of Windows 8.1 but seems OK on Windos 8.0 and no problems for Windows 7

Having read what I could from the related questions, the answers still elude me.  This issue apparently is specific to Windows 8.1.
    First, a little background.
1:  The server is not on a domain,  The system runs Server 2008-R2 standard with all folders shared across a standard "Workgroup" type network.  They would prefer to
    leave this layout intact.
2:  The shared folders are nothing but Data files.  There are no active system folders or anything used in an "active" environment.  They are mostly Word doc, excel
files, pdf, txt, etc.  However, due to the requirements of the software that needs to access these files, they Must
reside on a mapped network drive letter. Nothing else works due to the way the SQL database program stores the reference points back to the data.
I have had some success using what amounts to a “simulated” mapping using  WebDAV to access the server.  But access speed is a lot slower ad file size is limited.
3:  The system has been configured as-is for the past 3 years with Users all on Windows 7 x64 (mixed OS, some Home Premium, some Professional) and the only problems that come up are when
access is through an ISP that blocks port 445.  This was the original reason for finding a WebDAV/Cloud method just for those Users since they were unable to Map drives to anything on the Office Servers from their Home Internet even when using a VPN.
When Windows 8.0 became the only version available, I added a few users whose new laptops came with 8.0 from the vendors.  While there were a very few minor problems, for all practical
purposes, I was still able to provide access to the mapped folders.
As the Windows 8.1 roll-out progressed, some users were successfully upgraded while others  are still stuck in Windows 8.0.  The issues with this seem to be hardware related and vary
depending on the Make and model of the laptop.  I have been assured that eventually all of these will be able to advance to 8.1.  But this delay has given me an excellent mixed OS environment for testing.
On the users who have not yet purchased new equipment and who are still using Windows 7.  There has been no change.  Their drive mapping is stable and they can always connect as usual.
Those blocked from lack of port 445 or still blocked.  Systems inside the Office and those with ISP's who allow port 445 can use all mapped drives as normal.
Users who had Windows 8.0 and who have not yet been able to upgrade to 8.1 also have been unaffected.  Same results as Windows 7.
Users who got the Windows 8.1 upgrade as well as those that came factory loaded with Windows 8.1 seem to be a never-ending list of problems.  The ones that came native with 8.1 are worst
of all.  The list of error codes runs through everything that has to do with “communication with the server”.  As far as I have seen, this appears to be the issue.
Whether they are in the office on a wired network connection or at home on a Wi-Fi connection, the issues have the same results but the actual error codes may vary slightly.  All of
them refer back to an inability to communicate with the server.
Nothing on the server has changed in any way.  Users with Windows 7 continue to have zero problems,  Users with Windows 8.0 seem to be doing fine as well.  Only those with Windows
8.1 are affected and their problems are dramatic with everything from a total loss of drive mapping to misdirected data when the maps are active.
I have tried to make the drives automatically remap on reboot. I have tried registry modifications.  I have done everything I can think of to make a difference but the results are the same
for every system using 8.1.  The mapped drive letters invariably disappear.  Sometimes while the system is in use ( I think I have been able to trace this to times when the system enters Sleep or Hibernate) but always when the system reboots.
One detail that might point to somewhere is that the "time to connect" when mapping the drive is so long that I believe some of the original failures were due to not waiting for a
minimum of 3 or 4 minutes to give time for the Shares to show-up in order to map them.  Once the mapping is successful, the file access speed seems normal.  But invariably, the drive becomes "unmapped" repeatedly each day.
I know this was a long question but I have tried to provide every possible detail for anyone who has experienced events like this who may already have a solution.  I would even be glad
to purchase a 3rd party application if that is what it takes to get this to work.  My next planned effort is to try using Server 2013 but I am afraid that might open another can of worms for those who still use Windows 7.
I have also been told that this is in some way related to the push to "Cloud" support in Windows 8.1 OS but I do not see where this would come in.  I can say that this was the
one place where things continued to work as before.  People who had Windows 8.1 and who had to use the CLOUD copies of our data are still able to connect to it with no problems.
Any suggestions appreciated.  Preferably those that would not need extensive changes to the basic network structure.  This "workgroup" consists of less than 25 users and any
extreme measures would be hard to justify

    Hi,
I sugget you try to ping server so that we can verify the connectivity.
Can windows 8.1 access Windows Server 2008R2?
Also, please check the event viewer to see if some error log appeared when the issue occurred.

  • Very strange error: unable to activate any messgae mapping in IR

    very strange error,
i m unable to activating any message mapping in IR,

Which i assume is created dynamically created on activating a message mapping,
Now, i saw that the directory in which these Map* folders were created, already contained 32765 folders....... since this machine is UNIX, the max no. of directories that can be inside a directory cannot be more than 32768(not confirm).....

  • Mapped Drive - Location Not Available

I have a small recurring problem that is starting to get a little bit bigger.
    My environment is:
Server 2012 Standard, AD, File Server, Print Server. Running on Hyper-V (2008)
Clients are Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8.1 all professional.
I have a number of mapped drives that all go to this same file server. If I open a Windows Explorer window on any client and leave it open, after a while (always seams random), I will eventually get an error message saying "Location Not Available"
The contents of the directory I was looking at goes blank when this message comes up. I can click OK and immediately hit refresh on the Explorer window and the contents will come back.
Most of the time this is annoying but I am finding a couple of applications that do not like this behavior. They crash or close connections when this happens.
I have had a Remote Desktop connection open to this server while getting this and it does not get disconnected. I do not see anything that looks related at all in the log files of the client, the server or the Hyper-V host. I have made sure that the drivers
on Hyper-V are up to date as well as all firmware (especially the network cards).
I am not sure if the problem started when I upgraded my personal workstation to Windows 8 (from 7) but that is when I first started to notice this.

    Hi,
Do you mean the issue only occurs on Windows 8 systems?
Also whether these mapped folders are DFS shares or just normal shared folder?
If DFS is involved, test to disable Client Side Caching to see if it is related. Please add this key in all DFS target servers.
    HKLM\System\CCS\Services\LanmanServer value=<sharename> cscflags=48
As it is a random issue, it will be difficult to find out the root case. You can try to capture a network trace with Network Monitor when the issue occurs. Let's see if any specific information could be found.
    Detailed steps could be found:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812953
Note: As the issue occurs randomly, the package may be large as you need to wait until the issue occurs.
Note2: you can upload package to OneDrive however as is open to public so everyone could see that package.

  • Maps App

I couldn't find anyone else that has complained about these two problems although it seems unlikely that I am the only one that hates this. I am posting this in hopes that there is a fix out there or at least bring it to the attention of Apple.
    Here is the first problem.
When I am using the Maps App and I want to get directions to an address, I go to directions, then enter the address and get my directions. The next thing that happens is that the map shows a blue line as the route I need to take. Of course, the map is upside down from the direction I am going so I hit the directional button to get the map oriented in the direction. Now it shows me as a blue dot going the correct way. Now if I need to know where to turn and it isn't on the map, I have to drag the map so that I can see the next turn but as soon as I touch the map to drag it, the directional feature turns off and the map spins backwards and MOVES so that I am going the wrong direction and am in a different position on the map. WHY!!!!!
Why would the map not stay oriented the way it was? Once it spins I am back to trying to figure out left and right and trying to figure out where I am. Why can't I drag the map and have the directional feature still work and the map just drag without reorienting itself? This makes no sense and I can't for the life of me figure out how Apple thinks that works well.
The second problem. In some cases, why are hwy numbers UNDER the yellow street lines? How am I supposed to read them UNDER the lines? And its not this way all the time. Only some hwy numbers are under, some are on top.

It sounds like you need to direct your issues to Google since it sounds as if you are trying to use GoogleMaps as a car navigation system.
It would probably be safer to buy one of the actual car navigation solutions in the App Store rather than mess with GoogleMaps while driving.

  • Using map with 3gs

I was using the map program on my 3gs last week and while driving for about 30 minutes the map always stayed on. last night I tried using maps again and after 5 minutes it went off so I had to unlock it again to see the maps. Isn't the map function supposed to stay on as long as you are using it or do I have to set my phone to never auto lock while using the map?

If you engage the tracking mode as described on page 115 of User Guide, your present position will center with a moving map display. This moving map will prevent automatic sleep as the map is constantly changing.
