Mapping buttons from imac Bluetooth Keyboard to Macpro

I tried a friend's new mini bluetooth keyboard (one that sells with new imac) on my Macpro, and some of the buttons do not seem to map correctly. Example: volume was effecting expose. Is it just not meant to be used with anything other than an imac, or can the buttons be properly mapped?
Thanks.

You need to install the keyboard software

Do I need a keyboard that state's it is for ipad?  Or can I use the Apple iMac Bluetooth keyboard for my ipad?
I don't see anywhere on the Apple iMac keybaord box that states it is compatible.

  • Occasional duplicate characters on iPad from Apple bluetooth keyboard

I'm using an Apple bluetooth keyboard on an iPad mini retina on iOS 7.0.4. Occasionally, but not always, when typing a new line (I think it might be after the keyboard has rested a certain period of time, but certainly not very long), I'll get a double character.
    llike this
    oor this
iit;s always the first character of a sentence,
Iit may be like this as well
Wwhere the first letter is capitalized as it should be, and the second is not.
Any ideas on what would cause this or how to fix it?
    Thanks
    -Joseph

Just to say that I use a Ipad Air 2, iOS 8.1, and a bluetooth keyboard recently purchased from apple and i experience the exact same issues.
And if it looks like something insignificant, a duplicate character here and then, i assure you that is a bit annoying.
I guess there is a sort of trust in keyboard input developed over time by ppl who use it a lot, that one does not expecto to be broken
Cheers, hope there is a fix for it.

  • '07 iMac & Bluetooth Keyboard

I have an intel Core 2 Duo iMac running 10.6.2 that won't recognize the Apple wireless keyboard that I've been using with a variety of Mini's over the last year. The iMac connects to the Mini via Bluetooth just fine.
When the power button is pushed on the keyboard, the LED lights and stays on for about 3 seconds and goes out, as if paired to the iMac. Bluetooth shows up as powered on in System Profiler.
I've tried every method of connecting with the keyboard with no success.
    Any ideas appreciated.

As a test, create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account. Are you able to connect to the keyboard in the new account? If you can, there is something in your normal account that is interfering. If you cannot, even in the new account, the cause is at the system level or related to hardware.
If it's NOT a user account specific problem, try starting up from your Mac OS X installation disc for Snow Leopard; insert disc and restart with the C key held down. See if the keyboard is useable when started up from a different system. You may need to go up to the menu bar (at the Installer screen) and run Disk Utility from the Utilities menu, to have some fields where you can use the keyboard to type.
Alternately, you may be able to connect your Mac mini in FireWire Target Disk Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
and start up your iMac from the Mac OS X system on the Mac mini. Since the keyboard works properly on the Mac mini, if it is a software-related issue on the iMac, it should work when the iMac is booted off the Mac mini's system.
Another thing you might try is go to System Preferences Network pane on the iMac. If Bluetooth is listed in the sidebar as a networking service, remove it from the list using the minus sign. I'm assuming you are not using Bluetooth for networking. There may be some interference between the networking and device connectivity functions of Bluetooth.

  • IMac Bluetooth keyboard not showing up under devices in my iPad

Even after I remove it from my list of iMac devices, if I touch a key on the keyboard, it reconnects to the iMac.  So after I removed it from the devices on my iMac, I shut the iMac off to see if I could get it to work with my iPad (first generation) and it doesn't show up under bluetooth devices on my iPad.  I can't figure out what I am doing wrong, or is it not possible to do this?  I even paired (and unpaired) my iPad to my iMac.  I followed all the directions to unpair/disconnect my keyboard from the iMac, but I still cannot get my iPad to find the keyboard under bluetooth devices.

  • IMac Bluetooth Keyboard Not Working On Windows 8 :/

Well I've had an iMac for about 2 years already and my keyboard and mouse have been working flawlessly! Oh and I only use Windows 7 on Boot Camp and I've had no problems what so ever UNTIL I upgraded to Windows 8 about a week ago and that's when the problem starts. When I play games on Steam my keys on my keyboard work flawlessly like always but when it comes to typing words say like in the Internet or ANYTHING other then my games it DOESN'T WORK! Please if you have the same problem or know how to fix it please tell me. Thanks in advance! :)

if your signature say win8 does that imply that you used to run win8 and it worked there but not with win8.1
if so then you may have to wait for apple to release official support for win8.1 in terms of new drivers you can likely download from their site as a zip
at least thats what I hope will solve my huge page pool fatal bluescreen crashes in win8.1
which I also suffered from in win8 before the official amd drivers was released

  • I keep losing my connection from iMac to keyboard and mouse any help please

I keep losing connection between imac and my mouse and key board.I then have to power off and reboot to get connection can anyone help please!!!!

    Hi
Update date for anyone who ha suffered with the problem of losing connection to an ext HDD.
For me, the solution appears to have been achieved by making use of my old 802.11 b&g Airport Extreme base station and my new 802.11 n Airport Extreme Base Station.
My network is now setup as follows:-
    Airport 802.11 n - 5GHz
    Macbook Black
    Apple TV
    Time Capsule
    Airport Express Base Station
    Airport 802.11 b&g - 2.4GHz
    Playstation 3
    Xbox 360 Elite
    Nintendo Wii
    iPhones
    iPod Touch
    Canon Wi-fi Printer
    iMac G5
    Sony VAIO TX2P
I connect my ADSL line to both AEBS by ethernet, changed the settings and this has dramatically improved my connection reliability and speed when streaming movies and/or music.
Through trial & error, I have also discovered that the other problems that I have are connected to situations when restart my Macbook after a shut down or restart and my iPhone is connected. This causes iTunes to start up but due to the restart, the ext HDD is not ready and therefore, ITunes opens its local library - I now just try to remember to use the Option key to choose the library. Finally, if the laptop just runs out of juice, the ext HDD doesn't have the chance to have a friendly handshake before losing its connection. When I restart, the connection does to the HDD fails and I have to restart AEBS
I hope that helps anyone with similar problems or who wants to make the most of their fast 802.11n equipment by making is use of that kit that was maybe considered redundant - by creating a dual frequency network that maximizes speeds on 802.11 n whilst allowing use of the legacy 802.11 b&g devices.

  • When I try to view account under the cellular data feature it wont give me an onscreen keyboard and it wont take input from my connected bluetooth keyboard

When I go into "Settings", "Cellular Data" "View Account" when I'm prompted for username and password no on screen keyboard pops up and it will not take  input from my bluetooth keyboard.  It wont show on screen keyboard even if I have my bluetooth keyboard turned off before I go into settings....

I get this, but the onscreen keyboard returns when I turn off bluetooth, also I found that if you only select the plan first and press next, when the form returns with errors the fields work again.

  • IPhone 3GS with OS4 upgrade - using Apple's Bluetooth Keyboard

    Help!
I just upgraded my iPhone 3GS to OS 4. I also bought an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard.
It's awesome except for one thing. After I type a text message and go to send it, I push the "Send/Enter" button and it just goes to the next line, it won't actually send the message. I realize the keyboard came out way before OS 4, but surely there must be a button you can use to actually send the message without having to go back to the phone each time.
Does anyone know what button on the Bluetooth keyboard you use to "send" the text or do I have to just tap "send" on the actual phone?
    Thanks! [email protected]

I am coming across the same issue! help anyone?

  • N8 & BlueNext Mini Bluetooth Keyboard

I have a BlueNext BN1000 Mini keyboard which I have paired with my N8 but some of the keys are not being recognised by the phone: eg: Shift key won't work if you want to type a capital letter followed by a lowercase one & ome other key functions requiring the Shift key are not working. I have keyboard set to UK but have also tried US-English. The keyboard came with various Symbian S60 drivers but the N8 either said it had them or that they were not compatible when I tried to download them.  I would like to have the keyboard fully functional if possible as I can type much better with it than the rather cramped onscreen option.  Is there anything more I can do?
    Thanks.

    @tjdo
Unfortunately there seem to be quirks with whatever Bluetooth keyboard is used apart from Apple Bluetooth keyboard where UK keyboard can be chosen from selection available. Even Nokia's SU-8W is not immune to such issues as can't type "y" as keep getting "z" instead as referrred to in my post here:/t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/N8-and-bluetooth-keyboard-mouse/m-p/972815/highlight/true#M26055...

  • Bluetooth keyboard not working.....power light flashes

    Hi everyone,
My iMac bluetooth keyboard stopped working on the weekend. The green light adjacent the keyboard's power switch started flashing rather than staying on. I replaced the batteries but that didn't seem to help. My bluetooth mouse is working fine. Has this happened to anyone?
    Cheers,
    Jeremy

Yes it has happened to me. Just added it to my long list of repairs. Do you have Applecare? In July, I had to have the logic board replaced. After the tech installed it, wham!!! Power supply was gone. Then it was the hard drive 3 weeks ago, after a few hundred bucks to get everything backed up then Lo-and-behold the keyboard over the last weekend. I called apple and then ran thru a few things. Like have you checked the batteries, try toggleing the on switch, unplug and replug it back in. After 10 minutes, the rep said "I can send you a new one." So if you do have Apple care, call and get a new keyboard. I just hope it is the keyboard and not the bluetooth.

  • How can I use "enter" on a bluetooth keyboard to send iMessages?

I just purchased the Logitech folio case with Bluetooth keyboard for my iPad. When using iMessage and texting apps, for some reason when I hit the enter key I cannot send the message I have to rather tap the send button on the screen. Is there a setting I need to change? It works fine when I hit enter to search when I'm on the internet. The key itself has "return" as its first function and "enter" as its second. I tried hitting "shift" and another time "fn" before with no luck. I feel stupid for asking this question but who knows someone else might be having the same problem. Any advice?

I tried to find a way I tried pressing most of the buttons on my Bluetooth keyboard but nothing works
So the only way you could send is by pressing it manually on the screen

  • Why can't I use the spacebar on my Apple bluetooth keyboard to wake my iMac?

I'm pretty sure I was able to use Apple's Bluetooth keyboard to wake the machine before. The only solution I have so far is use the power button on the back of the iMac to wake it and worse, not letting the hard drive sleep in the first place. Neither of these options suit me very well.  Anyone have a suggestion?
    Thanks!!

    Hi iNstaPro,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iMac isn't waking from sleep reliably, I'd try these steps from our display troubleshooting article:
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
