Mapping EBS account codes to Group Account Numbers - Customization

Hi,
I want to map the account codes that are present in the Oracle EBS to BI Mappings.
I am aware of the changes to be made to the following three files:
■ file_group_acct_names.csv - this file specifies the group account names and their corresponding group account codes.
■ file_group_acct_codes_ora.csv - this file maps General Ledger accounts to group account codes.
■ file_grpact_fsmt.csv - this file maps Financial Statement Item Codes to group account codes.
The overview of my case is as flows:
The client requires the general accounts to be clubbed into different sub-groups based on their reporting practices. This would lead to generation of around 60-70 odd group account numbers. My queries are as follows:
1.There are cases where accounts belonging to a single parent account needs to be bifurcated into two different group account numbers. In that case, to which group account number should the parent account be classified?
2.Can we go about modifying the existing group account numbers and adding new group account numbers as long as we are able to categorize them in the existing 6 financial statement buckets?
3.What are the changes needed to be done in the RPD file to reflect the changes made to the group account numbers? Any documentation highlighting the same would be highly helpful.
Thanks,
Regards,
Rajit

Hi Krishna,
I have the same required as yours.
I implemented the note 914437.
I noticed two peculiar cases from the standard mapping i.e. (standard BP Role sold to party)
1) In BP transaction, in Display in BP Role drop down list box there is no custom BP Role as shown above but if I select the detail Icon I can find it there as shown in below screen shot.
2) I found in Tx BP there is only one BP Role as shown above but in CRM Web UI there are two BP Roles in the ROLEs assignment block.
Could you please add your comments or solution for it.
Thanks,
Raja

  • Account mapping from Target account to Source accounting code

    Hello Friends,
We are working on 10 different Opco's/Entities and 5 of them have a single Chart of Accounts. Every time we map the source account codes to Target account codes we do this for every entity.
Can you please help me to find an option through which by updating mapping in one OPCO/Entity I can update automatically all 6 opcos/Entities mapping similarly in all Opcos/Entities
    Thanks..

Thanks SH, now it is really working fine.
I have changed  Parent Locations to all of the 5 locations to one of the locations.
If I update mapping in anyone of the location, mapping in other locations are also changing.
    I have two questions:
    1) Will this effect uploading of data?
    2) Say for example i have 5 locations A,B,C,D & E and I have chosen A parent location as NONE,  B to A, C to A & D to A.
If I make any changes in any one of the location this will reflect in all other locations but if in the same case I want changes only in C (after selecting A as parent location) and not in any other location can I have any control over it. Its like any changes from A reflect to B,C,D but not from C to A.
    Thanks..

  • Group Account Number

    Hi FiCo Masters,
I'm getting the Error message text " Make an entry in field  Group Account Number" while i am trying to createa a GL account.
Can you pls help me to create a GL account without giving Group account number.
    Regards,
    Yatheendra Nath

    Hello
Are you trying to create a GL account in chart of accounts area.
Probably, you should create in company code area.
When assigning the group account number, please note the following:
Accounts of the same type may be stored under different numbers in different charts of accounts. You can group these accounts together under a single group account number.
Accounts with the same account number may actually be different types of account in different charts of accounts. You can assign these accounts to different group account numbers.
In the financial statements, the system displays the group account number.

  • Group Accounts

    Hi
What for the Group GL Accounts are used? We are trying to implement financials Consolidation in SAP. For this I wanted to know more about GL Accounts, Group GL Accounts and how they work in Consolidation. Where is the integration for GL Account and Group Account number.
    Thanks in advance
    Kalyani

    Hi,
Group Account numbers are created basically for Corporate Consolidation of Financials. Number of GL accounts will be several based on the business scenarios and requirements. However for Consolidation purpose the details are not required at minute level. For example for Traveling expenses there may be 30 GL Accounts, however the Top management may require only the total of traveling expenses and not full details. Hence, Consolidation is carried out at Group GL Account.
When a Chart of Accounts is configured a group chart of accounts is assigned in Transaction code – OB13. Further, in each GL Account the field Group Account number has to be updated.
    Thanks

  • Practical need of G/L Account Code in SAP B1

    Hi All,
Is there any way to avoid the G/L Account Code in SAP B1?
Is there any practical need of the G/L Account Codes when the Account Name itself is sufficient and unique in an organization?
    Thanx and Regards

    >> Have u used any time the popular accounting application named "Tally".... one of its popular functionality is "CODE-LESS ACCOUNTING"...
    >> if a user gets a account just by typing a few characters of the beginning of the account name then where's the utility of the G/L account codes?
    >> and to maintain the uniqueness and indexing in database level - the the tables may have several keys hidden to the users.
If you/ user do not want to create journal entry by using G/L account code:
Option 1: open form settings of journal entry/ corresponding document and uncheck visible for the G/L acct.
Option 2: instead of using numbers(digits) for G/L acct code, use descriptive text itself as G/L acct code. This is not recommended practice. But, it is upto your implementation practive/ customer requirement. To do this, you either have to edit existing chart of accounts / create new coa.
Hope these options will help you to resolve your query.

  • KA03--Group Account number what for

    hi all,
in the Cost Element setting, there is a tab for the Group Account Number setting,
    what's the functionality of this?
Is this value defult from the GL account master data group account number(two place same number)?
If we add this GL code to the account grouping(KDH2 ), is this filed nust need to input?
    Please advise thanks

Go to T Code OB13 and then double click on the Chart of Accounts you are using and remove the Group Chart of Accounts mentioned over there and save it. After that, you should be able to save the g/l account without any Group Account number.

    Hi,
There is not a real rule-of-thumb you can use here. Without knowledge of how the chart-of-accounts is implemented or used by your company's financial team, it is near to impossible to correctly configure the group account codes. In my experience, the financial controller(s) is/are the one(s) best equiped to assist with this issue.. I would strongly advice you to include his/her/them in configuring Financial Analytics..
    Good luck!

  • Financial statement by group account number

    Hi,
I need a financial statement version list by the group account number. I thinking of creating a chart group of account and assign it in the operational chart of account. Then, I thinking of enter the group account number in the master account data ' field group account number' and finally create a statement version with the option flag 'group account number'. As I was reading this functionality is possible, but I want to confirm with someone. It is important to mention that I won't use consolidation, only I want to report a financial statement with the group chart of account.
Does anyone use this functionality without consolidation and tranding partner?
    thanks,
    Cecilia

Yes, the steps you mentioned are correct.
By this you will be able to report the same balance sheet in Group Chart of Account Financial Statement Version format. (It is not mandatory to do the consolidation.)

  • ICR Process 003 - Running Data Selection for Accounts without a Group CoA

    Hi Everyone,
I am getting an error "Account 'CoCode'/xxxxxxxxxxx: Group Account Number could not be determined" on the reconciliation of some accounts when I run FBICS3.
Currently, the operating chart of accounts is not assigned to a Group Chart of Accounts.  This may change after Go Live u2013 for instance due to consolidation requirements. But for now we are without group CoA.
I am wondering if this is a requirement for the ICR program to have this field active on the GL master data and populated?
If not, is it possible then to  switch off the error message or change the settings somewhere so that the error is not generated?
How will this effect accounts without a group account number?
    I've included a link a screenshot below

  • How do I delete Group account?

In my Outlook send/receive message it shows that I have both my regular user email and a Group Account containing my same user email. I don't remember setting up a group account and don't need it so would like to delete it. When I click on the edit in the send/receive and click delete, it says I can't delete it. Anyone know how to do that? I realized I had a problem when I saw 2 send and 2 receiving status in my Outlook email progress window that pops up, I should just show one. Any ideas?

Thanks so much for the help, astro_guy. I tried that first, but it said I couldn't delete it. When I click on the send and receive button, it shows that there are two accounts listed--the group account and my regular email account. I think the problem is that my group account only contains one account in it and it is my regular email account, so it doesn't want me to delete it. Somehow I got my email address coming in twice--once thorugh the group email account and once as a regular email account. I"m not sure how this happened, but I sure would like to delete the group account.

  • Financial Analytics (Map GL natural account to group account numbers )

on what basis we need to decide what range of accounts can we grouped as CA/ FG INV/ AP / AR etc. Are there any ERP tables that holds these information.

  • Questions about Mapping GL Accounts to Group Accounts

    Hi,
I have some questions about mapping gl accounts to group accounts while configuring OBIEE APPS 7.9.6.3 with EBS R12 as a source:
    FIRST QUESTION.-
For file file_group_acct_codes_ora.csv, I have the following accounts from my customer:
    101101 - Caja Administrativa
    101102 - Fondo Revolvente
    101103 - Caja de Cambios
    101104 - Efectivo en cajero
This group of accounts is named CASH, now my customer said that this group begins in 101101 and ends in 101199 but in this moment only have this 4 accounts in GL, the rest of the accounts, I mean 101105-101199 are not used right now, they are gonna used in the future.
So, my question is, in file_group_acct_codes_ora.csv how I need to put this group:
    In this way:
    CHART OF ACCOUNTS ID,FROM ACCT,TO ACCT,GROUP_ACCT_NUM
    50308,101101,101104,CASH
    Or in this way:
    CHART OF ACCOUNTS ID,FROM ACCT,TO ACCT,GROUP_ACCT_NUM
    50308,101101,101199,CASH
I mean, is there any problem if I use the second way, or is necessary to do it in the first way, and why?
    SECOND QUESTION.-
For file file_group_acct_names.csv, when I update with a new group of accounts, is there any rule or size boundary for GROUP_ACCOUNT_NAME?
    THIRD QUESTION.-
For file_group_acct_names.csv, what is the value in column LANGUAGE? I mean, is EBS language?, DB language?, server language?
I hope that someone can help me, because I need to clarify this and don't do the first full load and this load ends with error because of this.
    Regards,
    Arnulfo

I'll take some broad swipes at this and let the smarter people come fill in the details.
We have a true 1:1 setup in our office and have moved to PHDs as a means of protecting against downtime. The thinking is that we will have a spare machine lying around with our base installation ready to go. If a user's machine fails we'll replace it with the spare machine, let it sync the user directory from the server, and we're back in business. It's no substitute for a real backup system, but it potentially avoids having to run a restore from your backups. It also reduces network traffic compared to plain networked homes, and still lets your users work if the server goes down, but provides the benefits of centralized management. John DeTroye wrote a nice article about this.
If you've already got data on your "client" Mac you will need to move it onto the server. PHDs will download data from the server to the client on the first sync, but will not upload a complete home directory from the client to an empty directory on the server. You'll find some posts in this forum discussing how people have gone about migrating data prior to that first sync.
WGM allows you to establish exclusions for stuff you don't want to sync.
One thing to watch out for in the scenario you describe is the so-called "rabbit effect." Assume Bob uses Mac1 as his primary machine. If one day he logs into Mac2 his home directory will be downloaded to Mac2. Once he returns to Mac1 he'll still be cluttering up Mac2 with his data. If he logs into Mac3 the next day and Tom and Sue are also periodically logging into different machines, you can see how you'll end up with a mess pretty quickly.
    Hope this helps.

  • GL Group Account customizations - alpha-num range in "natural" segment

    OBIEE 11g
    BIA 7.9.6.3
    EBS 12.1.3
Trying to configure custom GL Group Accounts per the BIA documentation and not all of our custom groups are being populated in w_gl_group_account_d. Basically none of the out of the box group numbers are meaningful to us, so we configured the 3 csv files with 29 custom group accounts - only 10 are being populated in the group account table, and I am still looking for the relevant log file to determine why only the 10 (a few of them do have alpha-numeric values).
Chart of accounts is 9 segments. Segment 4 ("Category") is set up in EBS as the "natural" segment - however, it has both numeric and alpha-numeric values, i.e.:
    101,140,140,FED REV
    101,199,199,FED REV
    101,F101,F108,FED REV
    101,F110,F115,FED REV
    101,212,212,FIXED CHARGES
    101,213,213,FOOD SRVC
    101,203,203,INSTR
    101,B120,B142,LOC REV
Question 1: Will mapping non-numeric ranges in the file_group_acct_codes csv file even work? Has anyone done this successfully?
Question 2: If it is not possible to use alpha-numeric ranges in this csv file, that forces us to use another gl segment - will using another segment that is not set up as the "natural" segment in EBS work? Segment 7 ("Object") is numeric, and can also be mapped to custom gl group names.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Rhonda

As it turns out, the main problem we had was that the account ranges have leading zeros, and those leading zeros got stripped when the csv files were opened in Excel then saved to the server. The account ranges now look like this:
    101,0140,0140,FED REV
    101,0199,0199,FED REV
    101,F101,F108,FED REV
    101,F110,F115,FED REV
    101,0212,0212,FIXED CHARGES
    101,0213,0213,FOOD SRVC
    101,0203,0203,INSTR
    101,B120,B142,LOC REV
After re-running a full load it looks like things are populated correctly in both the dim and fact tables. We are still in the process of verifying that the alpha-numeric codes are working properly but at first glance it appears so.
I'd still like to know the answer to my second question though, whether you can map gl account nums to a segment that is not the "natural" segment in EBS.
    Thanks for the assistance.
    Rhonda
