Mapping of enterprise structure

Dear Experts,
Right now i am doing implementation project in aluminium metal plant. Now we are in the 2nd phase of the project. So i have to map the enterprise structure of the plant.
There are main 5 departments in the plant GAP,BAKE OVEN,RODDING,POTROOM,CASTING.Here all the departments finished products are interrelated, like GAP finished goods will go to BAKE OVEN. BAKE OVEN finished goods will go to RODDING.RODDING finihed goods will move to POTROOM.POTROOM molten metal will move to CASTHOUSE,and finally metal from CASTHOUSE will go to customers.
So here how can i map this scenario, like i have to create 5 plants for 5 departments or 5 sections?
Regards,
Prashantha

Greetings Prashantha,
You need to approach this from a functional perspective. Define what is the Plant in SAP. A Plant is a location, which has an address, a language, time zone etc. and for this Plant the maintenance is planned as a whole on some level. Many configurations in PM are done on Plant level. Also, note that the Material Master data is maintained on Plant level.
So taking this all into account, consider whether those elements are different for the 5 Departments you mention? I would venture a guess "no". Your departments will have distinct Functional Location hierarchy branches, distinct Planner Groups, their own Work Centres, perhaps their own Storage Locations, but I assume they will have the same processes, the same Company Code, the same high-level Maintenance Planning Plant, the same Order Types. So it is probably reasonable to use Plant Sections, Planner Groups etc. to differentiate below the Plant level.
But of course, this is dependent on your business and how it is organised.

  • Enterprise structure

    Dear friends,
    Iam Implimenting SAP.
Company gets order from customer for setting up power plant, Our client manufactures all the connected mat like turbines, switch gear, compressors ,,etc.
These are manufactured at each unit respectively in same compound. Each unit is having raw material store, finished stor, semi finshed store,
there are 2 common material stores used by all the units, each store is having raw material stores/returns stores, dispatch stores, finished stores, cut to sizes shop where all material is cut to sizes. This cut to size is also within the store.
How to map this scenario as enterprise structure.
How cut to store in Store is mapped.whether stores like return stores, semifinished stores, raw material ,dispacth store all are defined as stores. These common stores are to defined under which plant.
Whether the intermediatory store is also defined as one store.each plant materials is procured by one pur org.and common stores materials are procured by 3 other purchase organisations.
    How to define enterprise structure.
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Cheruku.Dayanand

if ur plant is using the material which is procured by many organizations then i think u need to go through the funda of reference purh. org. and standard pur. org
that is if ur plant is assigned to no. of org. then u have to assign some of them to ur plant and assign 1 of them as standard org
and if some head office or centralized org. is also involved in procurement for plant then assign that one as refrence org. for u r plant level org.
and i belive u need to look from wherehouse management point of view because in mm u only have storage location but if go in depth then go for wherehouse management

  • Enterprise structure for PS

Please help me understand the pre-reqs for PS implementation. As in what are the enterprise structure elements and pre-requisites for project implementation in PS.

    Hi,
SAP Project Systems supports comprehensive functions for planning, controlling & organizing all activities carried out during the course of a project. It helps you manage your project structures, dates, costs, and resources throughout the entire project lifecycle. Project Systems is management approach which enables users to compare and analyze various projects effectively with a clear and comprehensive integrated methodology in order to ensure an expeditious management decision making.
Project u2013 activities executed by different departments for a common objective/purpose and in which the total budget satisfies a standard amount for each objective/purpose.
At the highest level of SAP PS, projects are defined and then structured into an organizational form that maps to the specific project.
    1. Work Breakdown Structure : The project is first broken down into work breakdown structures (WBS) which map to specific project deliverables.
    2. Networks : Each WBS can then be broken down into networks of activities.  A network can be thought of as a list of tasks organized into a process flow with specific timing.
    3. Activities:Activities are the key tasks to be completed.  These activities map to internal activities, external activities, cost activities and materials components.
    4. Work Centers:Internal activities are assigned to work centers (resources) to be completed.

  • Responsibility of consultant in Setting up Enterprise Structure

Can guru's explain what are the main responsibility of a consultant while setting up enterprise structure in a client company please.
    Thanks in advance.

Enterprise Structure is the basic for a successful implementation. If this is not correct, mapping of bussiness processes will also fail, as basic requirement is not met.
It is important to understand the requirement of the client & with close co-ordinationwith team members from other modules, this should be freezed.

  • Enterprise Structure for a diversified Business

    Hi all,
    1. There is a client who is into diversified businessess.
They are into Manufacturing,Hotel, Industrial services, IT etc
In each of the above mentioned businesses there are 3 legal entities respectively. Like Manufacturing business has 3 legal entities and like wise the others also.
But all these businesses comes into a single group.
From the Organisational elements point of view, how should we structure the enterprise structure keeping the Consolidation in picture.
The client wants the Balance sheet at respective industry(Manuf,  Hotel, IT, Industrial services) and also at the group level.
Please share your experiences in designing a fruitful org sturcutre.
    2. One legal entity has two branches one in India and the other is in Australia. How to treat these two branches as. As far as i am concerned as two different countries with different legal issues, there should be two company codes. Please correct me if I am wrong. Is there a wayout to create only one company code and treat these two branches as Profit centers ettc.
Please throw some light on to these.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Goodluck

    Hello Ajay,
    Thanks for your reply.
    1. Its perfect that we have to create Company codes for all the legal entities, but if Clients want to consolidate the Business at Manufacturing, Trading etc level and also at complete Group level is it possible.
What I thought of is, to create these verticals as Business area, and map the respective company codes into the respective BA so that consolidation will happen at BA level and also if we consolidate all the BA we can see financial statements at Group level. Advise.
    2. I didnt work on this scenario previously, but tell if we create Profit center for the Plant at abroad(if its plant or sales office), the currency for this will be different from Controling area and company code currency. Will this have any issue.
Let me know how to deal with it.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Problem in work flow of PE while mapping 2 source structure into 1 target

We have scenario in BPM where in we have to mapp 2 source structure's into target.
To be more specific one structure occurance is 0 to unbounded and other one is of single occurance.
We have done the mapping with target structure and tested it manually in mapping . its working fine..
While testing it in Configuration scenario, In the workflow process i.e PE process flow, we were not able to get one of the source message structure as the input Message. Instead of two source messages, it is seen only one. Please guide us in this issue.

actually we are receiving only one message, henece we do not need a correleation. But once we receive this message we are splitting into multiple messages in the transformation step. and we use these split messages in different transformation steps. but in one of the transformation steps we are unable see one of the split messages in the transformation step(though we have used the proper container element.). Please let me know if any ideas on this.

  • How to map multiple source structures to single target structure

    Hi all,
I have the scenario of 2 input files so i am using BPM for it. I have created the message types of the 3 input files. I have to finally generate an XML file which will contain the data of all the 2 files. That is i have to do 3:1 mapping.
    Source Structure of File 1:
    <b>DT_PWC_Customer</b>
    <i>RECORDSET</i>
      <u>CUSTOMER</u>
       <i><b>REF_NO</b></i>
       <i><b>CUSTOMER_NO</b></i>
    Source Structure of File 2:
    <b>DT_PWC_Customer</b>
    <i>RECORDSET</i>
      <u>METER</u>
       <i><b>REF_NO
       METER_NO</b></i>
Target Structure of Final Output File:
    <b>DT_PWC_CustomerMeterData</b>
    <i>RECORDSET</i>
      <u>CUSTOMER_METER</u>
       <i><b>REF_NO
       CUSTOMER_NO
       METER_NO</b></i>
Above nodes i have shown in a heirarchical order..nodes with same indentation are at same level.
Can anybody tell me how to do this mapping in IR in graphical editor.
    RAJEEV GUPTA

    Hi,
To elaborate my requirement, I want to tell that since i will be having 2 input files- one for Customer & one for Meter. I want to finally generate one XML file which will have data from both these 2 input files. That is, if Customer file has 3 records(3 REF_NO, 3 CUSTOMER_NO) and Meter file has 4 records(4 REF_NO, 4 METER_NO), the final output XML file  will   have 7 records(7 REF_NO, 3 CUSTOMER_NO,4 METER_NO).
    Thanks,

  • Message mapping---1 source structure and n target structures

I would like to know how many message mappings we need if we are mapping one source structure to 3 different target structures of a single receiver. I am assuming its just one message mapping.
Depending on the above answer how many interface mappings do we need.

    Kalyan,
you need multi-mapping that maps one source structure to multiple target structures. Just search multi mapping in SDN and you will find many good posts.
Basically, in MM editor, go to signature tab and in the target messages add additional message types. Simple.  --> Only one MM and one IM

  • Plant adress change in enterprise structure .

    Hi All,
During print preview of purchase order in delivery address only plant name is coming which it is taking from the delivery address maintained in Item detail of PO .This address is fetched from the plant address maintained in SPRO-> enterprise structure-> logistics general ->
define, copy, delete, check plant ->define plant .So if I change the address now in denelopment and transport it to production will that be any harm to the system .Why I am asking this question is ,I heard enterprise structure is very critical portion ,so we should not touch it after 4 months of SAP running in a plant .
Anybody who is 100% sure reply .
    Regards
    Abhijit Das

    Hi,
It is correct that you should not hamper the Enterprise Structure in a Production Environment. But if it is regarding deletion of any Organisational Element or assignment of Organisational Element or removing the assignment of any Organisational Element, etc...
If it is regarding Plant Address change then it is OK, you can do it.

  • Enterprise Structure-Company Code/Customer Master

    Hey Friends,
I have a question here. Consider that there is a production system ABC. Within ABC When I go to the company code transaction within the Financial accounting, I see a list of lot of company codes existing. Also I saw that not all the company codes have their related data, by this I mean that I saw that certain company codes have no data like no vendors,no customers existing for that company code. I just want to figure out whats the real Enterprise structure within the system ABC.
,Not only based on SPRO, but to investigate actual data in some of the data tables...to get a 'real' enterprise structure. since from actual data in tables, we can tell if we're truly selling to what countries etc.
Can you tell me how do I analyze this. Do I check each of the company codes and check if we have any reevant dat for the company code. Also do I see what customer master exists under the particular company code in order to determine which countries we are selling to?
Please can you answer in detail and explain me?
    Appreciate it. Thanks.

    Use tcode SE16.
provide Table Name KNB1 - Customer Master (Company Code) and press enter.
In Data Browser: Table KNB1: Selection Screen, put Maximum No. of Hits as blank and execute (F8 from keyboard).
There you will be list of Customer Master with respective company code.
    Hope this can assist you.
All the best and take care.
    Thanks & Regards

  • How to enhance the length of standard UI element which maps to DDIC structure?

    Dear Webdynpro Expert,
I got a requirement to enhance the length of UI element which maps to DDIC structure attribute. I have tried by using
View Enhancement by hiding the standard UI element,
Adding the required field in the standard structure through append structure,
mapping the appended structure field to the UI element.
But it shows error as data compatibility.
Can you please share some light on it.
    Thanks.

    Hi Mohsin,
When and where are you getting this data compatibility error???
Try to create a new context attribute and add your new DE.

    1.FI Enterprise Structure
my answers:Collection of organization units is called fi enterprise structure.
    2.Organization Units
a.An element in the logical structure of sap system is called organization unit.

    Best Regards
    priya desai

    Hi Priya,
The Enterprise Structure represents the structure of a company according to personnel administrative, time management and payroll perspectives. The company structure describes elements of the company and there dependencies.
The 'Organizational Units' in SAP, are the elements or structures representing the business functions, and are used in reporting. for example, Client (across the various modules), Company Code (FI), Controlling area (CO), Plant (logistics), sales organization (SD), Purchasing organization (MM), Employee Group (HR) etc.
    Thanks

  • Enterprise structure -work from home employees

    Hi all,
We are in the process of setting up our Enterprise Structure. PA will be set up as 4 physical offices of the company in US. PSA as to be set up as Divisions of the company. We also have work from home employees working at different locations (15 states) in USA. Right now they are tracked statewise. They are categorized by work from home- per state. Also all work from home employees are treated the same way as other employees who work from office locations in terms of benefits and pay. They are considered as Active employees in current legacy system.
I want the advise on how to go ahead for setting up PA, PSA, EG and ESG for thses emplyees. One option is to set up 15 personnal areas as 15 states which will divide the work from home emp (in addition to 4 PAs as offices) or the other is just to set up one PA for all homebase employees in US and then maintain their locations/states somewhere else.
Has anyone come across the same situation ? How the work from home emp. in other companies are categorized? Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Manoj and Sikinder.
And how to categorize them under PA? As I said ealier, we have 4 PAs as physical offices and I am confused where to put the work from employees in Enterprise Structure.
    Kindly suggest.
    Thanks.

  • Business Area in Enterprise Structure

Can someone please explain the purpose of Business Area/Business Unit in the Enterprise Structure? I'm wondering, functionally, how it is different from personnel area and personnel subarea, as we use the PA and PSA to distinguish  between departments and business units, respectively. Are there integration differences, or is there not a significant difference?
Thanks for any replies and help.
    -Nick

    Hey Nick,
If you bring up the help on Business Area within the IMG, you get the following:
    Define Business Area
    Use
In this section you create business areas. A business area is an
organizational unit within accounting that represents a separate area of
operations or responsibilities in a business
    organization.
When defining a business area, you enter a four-character alphanumeric key
and the name of the business area.
In a client, you can set up
several business areas to which the system can assign the postings made in all
    company codes defined in
this client. To ensure consistency in document entry, you should give business
areas the same name in all company codes.
You make all other specifications for your business areas in the Financial
    Accounting Implementation Guide.
So as this and Theo also indicated above, this is relevant for FI.
    Hope this helps!
