Mapping output/bus channel strip parameters

I'm unable to map any parameters on AUs inserted on output or bus channels, only input channels appear to be mappable. I wanted to set up a 4 channel in and out to use in smaller venues so I could get stereo in and out system left/right as well as reverb in and out and delay in and out to use instead of a FOH effects rack.

You can only map to them on concert level.

  • Re-assign outputs to channel strip

I could not find the answer to the following question: how do I change the outputs of a channel strip?
More details: I got a logic project file from someone else. The file uses outputs 23 and 24 for all channels. These outputs do not exist on my machine, so I don't hear those tracks. I would like to reassign the outputs to 1 and 2. If I clic on the output icon on the channel strip, nothing happens. I did not find anything in the menus, the manuals or this forum either.
If I create a new track, I can assign outputs 1 and 2 to it and I hear the music on these outputs.
Thank you in advance for any help.

In your Mixer highlight all the tracks routed to 23-24 by sliding your mouse over them with left click pressed, all channels turn greyish-> then long click on one of the Ouput slots above the channel fader->menue opens->select 1-2->all of the selected channels will be routed to 1-2.

  • Saved user patch not saving aux send channel strip settings?

    Hi all,
I was reading the 'Using and saving patches" article in the manual and came across this quote:
"patches also save any aux channel sends that are needed to reproduce the complete patch,"
I was extremely excited and tried to create my own patch. My User Patch saves, and the aux send amounts are in the main channel strip, but the actual bus channel strips are not created.
I noticed that other logic patches actually create the bus strips with their predefined settings when you load them, but I can't seem to get my user patches to do this. Am I missing a step when I save my patch?
    Thanks in advance!
    Robert
    P.S. - if it's useful, I am using Logic 10.0.7 on OSX 10.8.5 on a mid-2012 15" MBP Retina

Just thought I might bump this topic since I have the same problem.  Any suggestions on a solution would be greatly appreciated!

  • Basic Q, Routing all the audio tracks to a bus or aux channel strip ?

I'm a little confused on this issue.
I've been doing separate tracks for the sax solos and vocals using the best parts of several tracks with automation. I've been adding the same effect in each track separately and I know this is not good. I'd like to send all the sax tracks to an aux. strip with an effect and all the vocal tracks to another strip with a different effect but I'm just a little confused about it. I see in the Mixer you can add AUX channels but I'm not sure whether to use stereo or mono for this situation ? It seems like I should use stereo because many effects are stereo.

    Sampleconstruct wrote:
Ok, select all your vocal tracks in your mixer->channels strips turn grey->now in the third box above the Channelstrip fader select the output to be e.g. Bus 1->Logic will automatically route Bus 1 to Aux 1 if you haven't created Busses in your environment before->insert your fx into the Aux->select all your Sax tracks->route them to Bus 2->insert your fx->done
I guess you shift select from the arrange window for multiple selections in the mixer but I just did them one at a time.
In this situation there appears to be no need to use the add AUX button. In the lower of the two I/O slots I selected Bus1 for the Sax and a new Aux1 track was created. For the Vocal I selected Bus2 and a new Aux2 was created.
---Thank you Sampleconstruct . I'm still in the dark but this was a huge help.

  • A problem with channel strip outputs in Logic Pro 8

I have a Power Mac G5 2.3GHz dual core processor with 2GB memory, running LogicPro 8 connected to a MOTU 2408 Mk3. I originally assigned the outputs on the individual channel strips on my Logic default work page to the individual outputs on the MOTU, (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.,) as this is the optimum configuration for the amount of channels required for the recording I do. Checking theses settings recently though, I find the menu only gives the option to set outputs to 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 & 7-8? What has happened and how can I change them back?
    Thanks

Sounds like your channel strips are stereo and not mono.
Click on the little linked circle button (format button) in the bottom of the channel strip to set it's mode to MONO (single circle).
If you have effect plugins inserted on the channel strip make sure they are mono and not stereo. (Click and hold on the effect on the insert slot and choose the mono instance of the plugin from the plugin menu).
    Hope that helps

  • Duplicate Output channel strips

I see a thread about duplicate aux channels appearing. I'm not seeing that on my end, but what I am getting is multiple (and it's more than two now) Output channel strips. Thankfully, they only appear at the concert level, and don't appear more than once in each patch or set. But the behavior is really bizzare, and a little worrisome because i've found that if I try to delete one of them, if I can successfully do it, then the file will become corrupted and will never reopen! When I'm at the concert level, if I adjust any of the controls on one of them, it's adjusted for all of them... very strange indeed.
I've created multiple Concert files, and I see this behavior exhibited in all of them. The more patches I add, the more the number seems to grow. I believe that every time I copy/paste a patch, it adds one, but I'm not sure exactly what the exact criteria are to make this happen. Is anyone else seeing this?
Also, I have two unrelated questions:
    1) There isn't, by any chance, a way of creating alias or shortcut patches, is there? Some way of creating duplicates so I can create multiple sets with some of the same patches (I'd like to create some "Show Setlist" sets, and a main "All Tracks" set, but have some of the same patches in each, that would get modified when I modify any instance).
    2) I'm coming from Jambalaya, a similar, and simpler live host that I would continue to be using today if the developer continued supporting it. One thing that was really nice about that was it had a virtual rack where you could store common instruments and effects. It would be accessible to all "songs" (patches), and would save a major amount of load time. Since every one of my patches contains from 2 - 8 instrument channels, it was really helpful. I don't suppose there is any way to reproduce this functionality in MS? I also use this feature in Digital Performer, but I don't use that as a live host. So far, I've noticed that if you add a channel strip at the concert level, it plays back on all patches without any routing or way of arming it or not, so that won't work for me. I guess this is more a feature request than a question, but I'm new enough to MS that maybe someone has found a way.

I haven't experienced any of the channel strip issues, at the concert level or at patch level. It's easy to copy patches or make aliases. To copy a patch, select a patch, go to edit>copy or command>C. To paste, edit>paste or paste as alias(command>V or option-command>V).

  • Mapping output parameters

how can we pass values as output paramters what ever I assign it says it is restricted and cannot be done.
What values can we pass as output parameters. for a mapping output parameters.
    Thanks in advance.

datatype for that variable is string.

  • Output channel strip blank

    Has anyone seen this ?
I'm using Logic Pro 9. In one of the songs I'm working on, the output 1-2 channel strips ismblank. It doesn't have any of the insert buttons and I can't select any of the presets. (ie. Pop mastering, etc.)
I tried deleting the output strip and creating a new one, but that didn't work. It just created another blank channel strip.
    Thanks for any help...

Do you accidently have a channel set to surround?

  • LP 9 NOT DISPLAYING EQ or INSERTS ON OUTPUT CHANNEL STRIPS

This is odd: Logic is not displaying EQ or Inserts on some of the Stereo Output Channel Strips. Instead of "Output 1 - 2" I have a "Master Output" with no EQ or Inserts. When I check the other stereo output strips I find that only one (output 7-8) is displaying properly. How can I fix this?
    Thanks!

The output is turned on, yes. This is a session I did in Logic Pro 7 and opened in LP9. Again, as I said, OUTPUT 3-4, 5-6 also do not show up properly. Only Output 7-8 shows up w/EQ and Inserts showing.
I've opened several other LP7 sessions in LP9 and not had this problem. LP9 refuses to see the output (1-2) correctly.
When I turn off "Master" in the mixer window (upper right corner buttons), nothing changes. When I turn off "Outputs", the Master disappears.

  • My output channel strip is in the middle of my mixer. How can I replace it next to the master?

In the mixer window of Logic Pro the output channel strip has moved to the middle of the audio strips. How can I move it back to its usual spot next to the master strip?

Sounds like you have created an Aux track for your Output channel strip, and the position of that track on the arrange page now determines the place of the output channel strip on your mixer. So, you'll have to move that track so it is the bottom track in the arrangement, then the output channel strip in the mixer should move to the right again.
It is a sorely missed (and often requested) feature to be able to move channel strips around freely in the mixer.

  • Why can't I save inputs, outputs, or colors with Channel Strip settings? :(

I am really just starting to embrace the library for Channel Strip settings - I love that it saves the plug-ins and cusotm Icons, but I kind of thought it would make sense for everything to be saved, no?
I would like to choose a Channel Strip and have it show up with the I/O routing and a saved color. Is this possible and I am just missing it?

You may be hitting a bug. On my system, when I double-click a bin, the new instance of the Project panel inherits the column layout from the current instance. A screen capture video may help get a better handle on what you're seeing.
like a feature request to be able to save Project Panel column order independent of the saved workspace.
If I'm just misunderstanding and PPro is behaving as expected, then you have two options:
Have each user save a workspace with their own particular panel layout and a common column order. Then, after taking hand-off of the project, select the preferred workspace.
when the project is handed off, have the recipient enable the "Import Workspace from Projects" option in order to get the column layout (Window>Workspaces), then move the panels around as desired.

  • Mapping output on 2 ch speakers

Hi, i need some help, i'm a beginner with audition cs5.5, sometimes i use my laptop to work on 5.1 tracks only with 2.0 speakers.
To be able to listen the full track i have to map the other channels from the settings to play other channels on these 2 (without that i can't hear the central channel with the voice). But everytime i close audition it forgot the setting and i have to set it manually everytime.
Plus in multitrack even with the right mapping output i can't listen the other channels. Is there a way to solve this?

What did you try, precisely?  I didn't give you a lot of detail but if you did precisely what I tried to explain, you'd have it.  Make sure you're familiar with how the effect rack and power on/off buttons work, as well as how the matrix works that the Channel Mixer contains (6 source channels can be mapped in any proportion to 6 output channels).  The preset you want is "Downmix to 2/0," except that you'll have to click on the "L" and "R" tabs and raise the LFE level from 0 to 71% if you want to hear it, as it's normally dumped from a 2.0 downmix.
Another trap is that the session itself must be a 5.1 session (5.1 master bus) and your panning must create surround mixing, or if you have 6-channel source files, they must be placed on a 5.1 track.  I'm assuming that's not a problem because you're describing a situation with sound missing.

  • Finding new channel strips

I am creating channel strips using my own sounds on EXS24. However the channel strip finder cant find them....it only shows channel strips already created by Apple, or whoever. Is there a way to find channel strips you have created yourself?

Create the following folder inside your home folder (the first 2 should already exist)
    ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Channel Strip Settings
    Then create these:
    Bus
    Instrument
    Master
    Output
    Track
All channel strips inside "Instrument" are for all software instruments (like the EXS24), "Track" is the folder for audio channels.
Simply store your channel strips in these folders and they will be available in the browser.

  • LP8: "Create New Auxilliary Channel Strips" won't create stereo

I have recently reloaded Logic Pro v8.0.2 onto a newly reformatted drive running OSX 10.5.8. I have opened a previous session, and brought Logic back out of Universal Track Mode. My mix busses had been converted to mono, so I deleted them and am attempting to recreate them. I'm having trouble creating stereo Aux channels to serve as stereo Bus channels.  I try:
Mixer > Options > Create New Auxilliary Channel Strips
    I choose these options:
    Format: Stereo
Input: Bus 3-4 (for example), "Ascending" is checked
    Output: Output 1-2
Upon clicking "Create" I get a mono track. In this example, a channel named Aux 3 which will only accept a mono input. I can therefore assign Bus 3 as the input on this Aux channel, but not Bus 3-4. There's no mono or stereo link-rings icon in the lower left of the Aux strip for me to toggle between stereo and mono.
Could someone explain what I'm doing wrong? Happy new year, all. - Jeff

I've got Core Audio going, and my interface is MOTU 828 mkII. My typical workflow has been with Universal Track Mode (UTM) deactivated. What I have seen is that when UTM is enabled on my sessions, the Aux channels switch from stereo to mono with the fader rotated all the way to the left.
That's what I saw when opening my session under the re-installed Logic, which defaulted to UTM enabled. So, I disabled UTM. But now, when creating new Aux strips, I get mono channels even when requesting stereo channels.
Also - typically, when I enable a bus send on an audio channel, the corresponding bus channel would appear in my Mixer. Now, that's not happening.
Thanks for your feedback thus far, Erik. - j

  • Send and returns to Auxiliary channel strips

    Hi,
Does any body know how to make the Auxiliary channel strips appear on the list of possible output sends for the individual channel strips?
I would like to send a number of channels to a single Auxiliary strip but I cannot figure out how to do so.
    Thank you.

THis is part of the messy way Logic uses Auxes and Busses... At least in my opinion.
But the answer is, send all the drum tracks to a bus. Either with a 'send' pot, or by assigning the output of the channels to a buss.
Logic will then create that buss (if it doesn't already exist) AND an AUX with that bus as its input.
So then, from that new AUX (which has all your drums going to it) you can add a send to another buss.
And logic will again create that buss (if need be) AND an aux with the new buss as its input. You can put your reverb or other effects on that new AUX and you're done.
I won't start the whole AUX vs. BUS debate again. Or I'll try not to. But I'm not a fan of the current system. BUT it does work.
Best idea is to create a template with your busses and auxes set up as you like. I've got 8 auxes fed by submix busses (drums, keys, lead vox, backing vox, gits, orchestra, keys, and leads) and then 8 fx auxes (fed by busses 9-18) with various reverbs, delays, etc on'em.
    Good luck.
