Maps 3.0, N96, v30 Firmware, device reboots

Just upgraded to Maps R3 having had no issues with the beta versions, and having driven it hard (Pun intended).
Now, when using GPS navigation, the device reboots itself with no warning and no identifiable cause, except that I am using the GPS navigation features. usually it reboots after about 20-30 minutes of using navigation.
Any thoughts?
Device is an N96, V30 f/w, and I've checked for Maps updates recently. I'm using the UK maps, but also have France and US maps loaded as well (as I have planned trips).

i have this same problem. happens in maps, google maps, and garmin.
never had this problem on previous firmwares, and this one has added nothing to the phones feature set or usability. its just created problems. it crashed twice in the 4 months i had it before this firmware update, now its crashing 2-3 times A DAY, gps or no gps.
ive formatted the phone and memory card, reinstalled the firmware using NSU and then tested it with just google maps installed on the phone, same problem.
frankly im furious nokia can put out such a buggy firmware update that changes nothing of any use and causes crashes like this. they better sort it soon.
the bluetooth connection with my PC is also broken since this firmware. crashes explorer everytime i try ot access the phone, even using the nokia suite. again, never had this problem before.
Have you installed applications in your phone?If yes, maybe this cause the crashes.Uninstall all your apps, and do a reset.
Factory settings reset. In standby, dial *#7780# and the phone's security code (the nokia's default security code is 12345). This reset restores phone's original settings.
Soft reset. In standby dial *#7370# and the phone's security code (the Nokia's default security code is 12345). Soft reset deletes ALL your phone's data.

  • N96 v30 firmware restarts/reboots randomly

    Hi.
    I updated OTA to the new v30 firmware for my N96 (EURO1).
    Now, the phone restarts 3 or 4 times a day, usually when I'm not even touching it (i.e. it's sat on my desk at work and it'll just turn off and then back on again.
    It doesn't ask for a PIN / lock code when it powers back up either which it always does when I switch the thing off and on manually.
    I've tried the hard reset and reinstall options but to no avail
    Anyone got any suggestions (other than throwing it in the river?!)?
    Rich.

    If you have tried the multi finger reset and a firmware reinstall via NSU to no avail then you have problems
    The behaviour you describe is not typical of an N96 with v30 and suggests a deeper problem
    If you have a memory card installed remove it and see if the behaviour persists
    If it does then look at your installed apps and try removing some of these
    Otherwise a Nokia Care point for a warenty repair maybe your best bet

  • Ringer off & device reboot

    i bought this bb curve 9320 on 15 Aug 2012 from mobile store, since then i'm facing this issue of ringer going off n device reboot all of a sudden, got this checked twice with redington service center, according to redington official software needs to be updated, but they are themselves are not sure whether it will solve my problem or not, infact they suggested to use the device on 2g mode only, have checked the version, it has a latest version installed i.e 7.1.0 bundle 1319. Request help. I'm very disappointed the way blackberry provide customer service and cud not believe that this is actually happening, 15 k price tag not worth for this kind of device :-(

    Welcome to the Community
    Sorry for the problem you are having but as you know this is User Support Forums here user like you and us try to help each other.
    And regarding your problem we can try to help,Can you tell us How many Third party Applications you had installed in your device or you can try starting your device on safe mode   KB17877   and run for say 1 hrs to see if problem appear.If on safe mode those problem does not appear it means your Application ( if any installed ) are responsible .But if problem persist you can try Reloading your Device software by yourself to rule out any software.
    KB11320 : How to perform a clean Reload of the BlackBerry Device Software using BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows.
    But if your problem reappear then I think best option is to Contact your Carrier for Warranty replacement or Repair.

  • Down loaded latest Maps 3ovi on N96. program wont ...

    Hi
    I Down loaded latest Maps 3ovi on N96. program wont open. The task bar goe's across the screen then stops then goe's back to the main menu screen.
    Can anyone help? I have uninstalled it but even maps 2 wouldn't work now .

    When you used Maps Updater to install Maps 3, did it successfully install the app AND continue to delete map data and replace it?
    Delete the Cities folder and the file called QF from the mass memory, then restart Maps - it should start OK and then you need to let it connect briefly to the internet. You can then redownload the maps for Maps 2 from Map Loader.
    If you update again to Maps 3, check that the update process completes fully, including replacing the map data, and if not do the same thing - kill Cities and QF then restart Maps

  • Udev to map multiple entries to *few* *partitioned* devices

    Having read then followed wiki's Using udev to map multiple entries to a device, I cannot yet adapt it for my externel 160GB partitioned HDD.
    Here is what I have :
    - plugged the HDD to my laptop with no other external storage
    - Found its supposed SYSFS{serial} :
    # udevinfo -a -p `udevinfo -q path -n /dev/sda` | grep SYSFS{serial}
    SYSFS{serial}=="DEF1091BE9A1"
    SYSFS{serial}=="0000:00:05.2"
    - Created /etc/udev/rules.d/00.rules with those lines :
    # DD usb
    BUS="usb", SYSFS{serial}="DEF1091BE9A1", KERNEL="sd?", NAME="%k", SYMLINK="ddusb", GROUP="storage"
    BUS="usb", SYSFS{serial}="0000:00:05.2", KERNEL="sd?1", NAME="%k", SYMLINK="ddusb", GROUP="storage
    - Edited /etc/fstab with
    # DD usb
    /dev/ddusb1 /media/ddusb1 ext3 user,exec,noauto 0 0
    /dev/ddusb5 /media/ddusb5 vfat noauto,user,noexec,nodev,nosuid 0 0
    /dev/ddusb6 /media/ddusb6 vfat noauto,user,noexec,nodev,nosuid 0 0
    - checked /etc/group for "usbstorage" which was here with "hal" user, on which I added my main user.
    - Restarted udev.
    Now I found
    /dev/ddusb -> sda1

  • How can map bookmarks be transfered to new devices?

    Book marks on maps cannot be transfered to new devices through icloud. This makes you have to re enter each book mark into the maps of the new device.
    If icloud saved map book marks and transfered them to new devices, then setting up a new device with information from previous devices would be easier

    I have an Epson 4180 flatbed scanner which will copy my 35 mm slides 4 at a time. It takes about a minute a slide. The software that came with the scanner imports the pictures to the mac in JPG form. I then import in into I-photo. I had about 4000 slides collected over 50 years and there are a 1000 in my I-photo library. This software will also scan the slide and convert it to PDF which is handy for copying and sending correspondence or whatever in E-mail.

  • So, are we going to have the new v30 firmware for ...

    After talking about new v30 firmware for the N97 we got the v22.0.110 which is good and fixing all the known bugs.
    So are we going to have the v30 firmware or not?

    as an N97 user I also hope there will be updates , but fear it will be left dead in the water , the severe memory limitations of the phone restrict how much can be done and so I expect it's had it's day Hope I'm wrong , but not very optimistic , hoping Symbian^3 will give the experience I had hoped for !

  • Nokia Maps (Navteq) from N96 to N97

    Hi,
    Is it possible to move Nokia Maps (Navteq) from N96 to N97 and how?

    Map Loader tells me I'm using
    Map Loader 3.0.28.0
    Nokia N97 (Map version 0.1.22.103)
    And the phone tells me I'm using
    Maps 3.03(54) (from Betalabs).
    There is no Services tab any more, and the Map Loader Help only tells me I can download Maps and Voices. The Help doesn't mention Services.
    I got my 3 year Western Europe licence about 18 months ago, for my N95. As soon as I plugged my old sim into the N97, and ran Maps (2.0 at the time) it went off to the internet and "verified" the licence info.
    At that time the Map Loader app had a brown interface, and didn't change for a long time. The Services tab gave a priced list of all the extras, and you could buy them through the app. It also explained that you had the choice of whether to link your license to the sim or the phone. I remember thinking it through at the time, and deciding to link it to the sim, because I still have my N95, and sometimes switch the sim into that phone. Since Ovi has taken over the app, all that choice and explanation has gone (at least for me).
    Maybe I'm not seeing the Services tab because I'm using the Betalabs version  3.03(54)?
    Edit:-
    By the way, I used to get the Services tab when I linked to my N95 running Maps 2.0, but I don't remember the version of Map Loader I used at the time.

  • N96 v30.033 problem

    My n96 v30.033 have some problems witch is: when recive sms my phone restarted i formated with *#7370# and problem exists again i reinstalled software and again problem is in the phone
    i thing the n96 v31.xxx fix this problem and set to n96 any screensawer like n86

    Hard format procedure is here. For that, backup your mobile's contacts, messages, notes, calender and bookmarks via Nokia PC Suite backup utility. Don't backup anything else like settings or user files etc. Now backup your images, videos and music files using Windows Explorer. Now format your memory card and switch off your mobile. Now press and hold this 3 key "green call key, * and 3" together and switch on your mobile. Press and hold down that 3 button till country insertion dialogue appear. Now restore all your backup using PC Suite and explorer. This will solve your problem. If problem still causing then go to nearest Nokia Service Center and give them your mobile for repairing.

    How often does your phone re-boot itself,
    Regular reboots are not endemic on an n96 running v30
    Are you using a memory card, if so try removing and seeing if that improves things
    How much free space do you have on the phone memory, (c too little could cause issues, try moving messages, images etc to the mass memory and see if performance improves

  • Loss of authentication only solved by device reboot

    I am having a very strange issue with just one of my two 3TB MyBook Live units. When this single unit "goes gonzo", it refuses to properly authenticate any access whatsoever. That is, when I try to access any account directories on it, it prompts me for a username even though I had previously authenticated with it. When I put in the correct password, it refuses to accept it. Attempts to reset the password from the web interface are 100% unsuccessful. The only way to resolve is to reboot the device, whereupon the very next connection is automagically authenticated without requiring a password prompt. I would like to know if this is a known issue and if there is a resolution path available. This device has the latest firmware, which auto-installed itself on 2015-06-22. Also, it has a very annoying propensity for overheating at any temperature above 18 degrees. I need to have the aircon on 24/7, otherwise my inbox is deluged with reports of the device overheating, rebooting, and other alerts which are just filled with question marks (????????) where status is supposed to be auto-inserted. This unit recently passed a full analysis run without any issues. I don't mind having the aircon on, as my preferred temperature is between 16 and 18 degrees (I can't stand room temperatures above 22 degrees... I start sweating uncontrollably) but the unit appears to be particularly twitchy where temperature is involved. It is sitting about head-height halfway up a wall about a metre away from the aircon, with plenty of free space around it. My other 3TB unit? Right beside it, peachy keen and without a care in the world as long as the temp doesn't exceed 22-25 degrees. At which point it too will begin throwing eMail alerts and hissy fits. But it doesn't have that auth issue at all.

    Why don't you roll back the firmware using a manual update in SSH to the previous firmware.   Look on the forum for how to do this - trick the MBL basically.  Then turn off the auto update for firmware. Then get some USB fans and place them under the MBL to cool them.  SInce i put two 80mm fans under mine, i've never had any problems with heat, looping, rebooting, etc.

  • ISA570 1.2.20 Firmware-Random Reboot and Errors

    I updated the firmware to the latest version about a month or so ago and it seems this version has had some issues.  Currently, I have a support case opened with Cisco to figure out what happened today when all of a sudden the firewall rebooted on it's own.  Not too mention, there are tons of errors and warnings since upgraded from 1.2.15 to this new version, which fixes the heartbleed vulnerability.  Anybody else having random reboots or a ton of new errors and warnings present?

    Yeah, I had to go back to .15 which seems the most stable and I am sure there are many others who are doing the same.  It is unfortunate that none of these issues are fixed and I can say these issues probably will never be fixed after speaking with Cisco small business support.  If nobody calls in and speaks up about these issues Cisco won't know there is a widespread issue with this firmware. They assured me from .19 to .20 the only fix was the heartbleed, but I have a hard time believing that as others have had issues with the reboots I believe in .19.   At some point in the near future we will have to move to another product all together for lack of support.  Don't get me wrong this is a great product with the old firmware, but right now I can no longer use SSL to the device or SSL VPN remote access because of the heartbleed vulnerability.  Sad but true.

  • N96 No firmware for RM-247 Product Code 0573563

    Hello,
    It has been more than a month since 2 11.x software updates have been released for the N96 series. I don't seem to be the only one currently stuck on the 10.0.65 firmware which has a few bugs (the handset freezes from time to time).
    I've had sereral Nokia handsets previously, but never seen such a long time to get one.
    Can anyone confirm that it can even take longer to get such an upgrade?
    I have tried via the NSU and the phone updater on PC.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    The latest version of N P C S is V2.2.78
    If you have V7 you are running the OLD Nokia P C SUITE NOT i say again NOT N GAUGE P C Suite which comes on the disk with the N96
    There are 2 versions of P C suite now the Old type and the new N series You can run both on the same PC but I have now removed the old version as N gauge P C Suite does seem backwards compatible and will connect to the 8310 and 6510 which are the oldest phones in current use
    The N 95 also had the N series PC suite but the download of the Nokia site shows V7 as the new version
    this IS LIKE THE SOFTWARE V12 is NEWER THAN V30 as V30 is on N95 and V12 is on N96
    N Series has its OWN updater which shows newer versions than StandARD UPDATER

  • N96 next firmware?

    I have been very fond of Nokia over the last few years. I am however getting slightly disappointed by the frequency of firmware updates for the n96, they were necessary (v11 and v12) to fix crashes and other messed up things on the device. The latest firmware (v12) did introduce some bugs such as the # shortcut not available anymore... I see plenty of firmwares for the 5800 and E71, so what gives...
    So any rumours about a new version coming out?
    Also, been lurking on the n97 but got slightly put off by that news:  http://www.symbian-freak.com/news/009/04/dream_is_over_n97_processor_details_revealed.htm
    Thoughts anyone?

    My friends tell me soon. Better get out your USB cables and start checking the site.
    Make sure you go through the software upgrade rather than seeing if there is an upgrade for the phone code.Message Edited by sapporobaby on 03-Aug-200704:31 PM
