Maps 3.0 won't install on N96 (30.033)

I've tried installink Maps 3.0 several times on my N96 (firmware version 30.033), using the Maps Updater. It downloads the required files, and transfers them onto my phone, where I am asked to install it (Ovi Maps 3.01 (17) - upgrade from Maps 2.00 (1) ), and to install License Manager v6.21(4). After accepting everything, I get an error message on my phone: "Unable to install", and a similar error message on my PC: "Cannot update the maps application. The installer is not supported by your phone (114).".
I've tried downloading the .sis(x) installer from a 3rd party website, to try installation without using Maps Updater, but similarly, I get the "Unable to install" error.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to install Ovi maps?
A great thanks to everyone willing and able to help!

Thanks Angelrico101 - help yourself to a star
I tried to install the Maps software after deleting Cities and the QF file but to no avail.
Inadvertently I clicked on Maps and it worked so before I started downloading map info I ran the Map Updater software and I have half of Europe on there.
I can now save the battery on the X6 by using the N96 for geocaching.
Thanks again

  • Nokia X6-00 16GB - Ovi Maps 3.06 won't install

Currently I'm using Ovia Maps 3.04 but I have an update to 3.06 for this model.
When I try to install this update via Nokia Ovi Suite, the upgrade goes bad with message inducating the update service has an error.
When I manually download the update and double click this in Windows Explorer, the update gets loaded and starts the installation with some preview information. After some time the message 'file not found' appears and then the message 'Instalation successful' apears. When I start Ovi Maps, the version number is still at 3.04
When I copy the installation-file to the Installations folder on the device itself and open this via the menu, the same happens.
After these install I tried restarting the device and recheck for any changes but the 3.04 version still is used.
Uninstalling the current version won't help either. The 3.04 version still resides. The funny this thing is when I try to re-install 3.06 the device replies to overwrite the current version (3.06) with the new version (3.06). This was previously 3.06 over 3.04. It looks like it's installed but the Ovi Maps programs shows 3.04 instead? Got me kinda goofed...
Other updates like Ovi Music 11.4 and Facebook do install successfully. So the device or firmware isn't broken or something. Re-installed 32.0.002 firmware and tries the above again to no avail.
    Some information
    Model: Nokia X6-00 16GB
Firmware 32.0.002 (the lastest for this model)
    Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.0.91
Full battery when trying the above
Connected to pc with provided USB cable
PC -> Windows XP profiessional SP3 with all the updates installed (system and hardware)
What can I do to fix this so I can use version 3.06 from Ovi Maps? Do I need to revert back to Factory settings? (I have a full backup ready to use)

Your post is incorrect, because the problem is that the program is installing but not being read, rather it is a system file issue.
As I said, It's happened to me before. I have 3 different versions of 3.06 on my PC and none worked. Only after a hard reset did it work. It happens when you 3.06 gets uninstalled improperly, some file used for recognition remains, and interferes with the system reading the app. No matter how many times you'd try to install, system file associations have already been corrupted. This is akin to installation errors in Windows where reinstalling wont make it work or clean everything out because there are registry fragments left.

  • HERE Drive+, HERE Maps, access point won't install

These three apps are stuck in my download list. They all say: attention required. Tap here.
When i do, I'm given the option to retry. That downloads the app again, then the install immediately fails and I'm back to the same position.
I've tried a soft reset. And cancelling and redownloading the apps again. But it makes no difference.
Please help, i bought a Nokia Phone specifically intending to use HERE Drive+ so much this is really frustrating.
    Thanks,
    Scott

Whilst you tried the first part of holding on each of the stuck downloads and deleting them one at a time, did you try going back to the home screen and then into the Store? Does it show "n" downloads waiting, but this time it will show you which ones > tap on the first > go to it's Update page > Update > Repeat?

  • Hf901-00001 won't install at all on some instances.

    Hi,
We have multiple servers with CF 9.0.1 installed, all with the multiple servers configuration and all with multiple instances.
Yesterday I started patching to hf901-00001 (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/890/cpsid_89094.html).  It worked properly on 30 some instances over 4 servers but for a few instances on one server it just won't install.
The server in question has 7 instances + 1 main cfusion instance.  The patching worked fine for 4 of them, but with the others it blew up the CF admin and I had to restore my CFIDE from a backup.
Right now I am trying to get cfusion up-to-date here's what I see.
    Server Product: ColdFusion
    Version: 9,0,1,274733
    Edition: Enterprise
    Serial Number ******
Operating System: Windows 2003  OS Version  5.2
Adobe Driver Version: 4.0 (Build 0005)
    JVM Details Java Version: 1.6.0_17
    Java Vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.
When I try to update with the hf901-00001.jar file, everything seems to work as it should. I get the "For the hotfix to get applied, you must restart the ColdFusion Service." so I restart Macromedia JRun CFusion Server and it starts up fine.
However when I go back to the CFAdmin I still see
    Version 9,0,1,274733.
    I don't see Update Level /C:/JRun4/servers/CF_Academic2a/cfusion.ear/cfusion.war/WEB-INF/cfusion/lib/updates/hf901 -00001.jar
So I assume that patch isn't going through.  If I look in C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\updates\ I can see the hf901-00001.jar files though.  At this point if I proceed with the rest of the patching (Copying CFIDE, WEB-INF, etc) the CFAdmin starts throwing error --- class def not found on some critical CF parts.
As anyone else had issue with this patch or have any suggestion as what to try next? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    Charlie,
Thanks for the reply, ok going to double check everything point by point.  Going to use my main cfusion instance for my testing.
    Before patching:
My CFIDE is mapped to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\CFIDE (from the mapping section)
C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\updates has only one file empty.txt
ColdFusion version is                  9,0,1,27473 from the CF administrator information section.
Version confirmed by dumping server.coldfusion.productversion (9,0,1,27473)
    Patching process:
    Using hf901-00001.jar from update (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/890/cpsid_89094.html#main_ColdFusion_9_0_1)
Successful, I get "For the hotfix to get applied, you must restart the ColdFusion Service"
    Restarting "Macromedia JRun CFusion Server"
    C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\updates\ now has 2 files, empty.txt and hf901-00001.jar
Checking log for the restart in C:\JRun4\logs\cfusion-out.log, everything start up as it should but there's an error.  No details though, see dump below.
Starting Macromedia JRun 4.0 (Build 108858), cfusion server

At this point if I continue with the manual steps and copy the file in CFIDE and WEB-INF it break the instance and I can't access it without restoring from a backup.  (ClassDefNotFound errors).  So the jar isn't being applied for some reason, the log is quiet as to why it's rejecting the file or think it's invalid.  It's the same file used to patch the other instances.  I suspected a corrupted jar and redownloaded it, same result for those 4 instances only after I patched another production server, our development, acceptance and lab servers the same way.
One thing that I noticed, the one that did patch correctly have chf9000001.jar in their /lib/updates directory which is hotfix1 for CF 9.0.0.  I am under CF 9.0.1 so it shouldn't be required right? Not sure why it's missing from the cfusion instance.
I tried copying  chf9000001.jar and restarted and it shows up as my update level in CFAdmin.  I still get the invalid file error for hf901-00001.jar though.
I never installed Cumulative Hotfix 1 (CHF1) for ColdFusion 9.0.1 (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/862/cpsid_86263.html) as Adobe only recommend it if you experience one or more of the issue listed.
Other points I checked following your post:
    1) neo-runtime.xml does have <var name='/CFIDE'><string>C:\inetpub\wwwroot\CFIDE</string></var> so as far as I can tell I am using the correct /CFIDE
    2) You say "Or are you using the external web server (IIS or Apache)? If trying one, what happens if you try the other?"
I am using IIS default website to access it (it's currently bound to port 8080).  How do I try the other? In JRun Launcher I see my Web port as 8300 for cfusion but if I go to http://localhost:8300/ I get a blank site (it just shows Index of /)
The only thing I have to go on is that the jar isn't loaded as per the log, but there is no error or anything so I am kind of at a lost as to what I can try next.

  • Acrobat XI won't install if My Documents is redirected

We've seen this issue with Adobe Acrobat as well as HP print drivers and a few other installers. To say it is frustrating is an understatement. Hoping someone can shed some light on this.
As a standard part of our workstation setups, we edit the properties on the My Documents library and change it's location from C:\users\username\documents to H:\Documents  (H: is mapped to a network "home" drive for each user). This ensures that the user's files are saved on the network, where they get backed up daily.
However, several installers seem to take issue with this and won't install, saying they can't find the H: drive. Adobe's installer is among the guilty parties.
We have a work-around for the issue... we change the My Documents library back to it's default c: drive location. Run the install, then re-direct it back to the network volume after the install completes.  We have observed that the installer writes nothing to this path (even checking hidden/system files), so it obviously doesn't really need this path to function.
What is the issue here, and why hasn't Adobe and other vendors addressed it? We know we aren't the only company who redirects libraries in this manner. It's good practice to safeguard your users data. Why do the installers barf on this?
    Inquiring minds want to know!

  • Leopard won't install on G5 tower

Hi I have consistently run into problems installing Leopard on my G5 tower. I have an original Leopard install disc family pack version 10.5 that I have used to install Leopard on my G5 Tower. It is a dual 2 gig 1st version of the G5 tower and it hates my install disc. It keeps claiming there is a fault with the install disc, but I have used it on other machines and I had it replaced once so I know it is not the disc. If I keep trying I can eventually get it to install ... sometimes, but I have had to install Tiger and do an upgrade from that to make it work in the past, and then to get it to 10.5.6 I had to download each update separately and install them rather than using a combo updater to do so. It is a time consuming pain and i was wondering if anyone out there has any information about this or has had any similar experiences. I love my G5 otherwise. Thanks for any help!

I've been installing leopard on G5 Dual core systems all week and I had problems myself but I found a good workaround (based on what I had available to me installation disk-wise).
I installed retail Tiger 10.4 (a user-burned backup copy), booted the machine once to do the registration info.
I then used the retail 10.5 Upgrade DVD (which is different from the normal retail 10.5 install DVD).
CRUCIALLY I didn't select the option to install "X11" during the installation process. That one simple omission enabled the 10.4 to 10.5 upgrade to run perfectly without a hitch or error on the G5.
I guess the moral of this is uncheck the "X11" box when installing. I usually uncheck the extra language translations and printer drivers too.
G5 towers don't much like certain Dual Layer DVD media as you may have heard already. Though the drives are rated to use them, they are very picky about the type so only make a backup copy of your OSX disks with the actual computer you will use it on so you're sure it can handle the media.
I say this after wrestling with variations of the install for a good 24hrs. I also found that if the drive you are installing to on the G5 is not formatted using the Apple Partition Map (for PPC-based installs) but has instead GUID (for Intel-based installs) Partition Map it just won't work so check through the tabs and options in Disk Utility to do with Partitions.
Even on a normal retail OSX disk I say leave X11 out when making a G5 into a Leopard machine and then install it later on.
Hope you save hours of time with this info.

  • 2.16 MBP trying to use 128gig SSD, system won't install

    I've got a 2.16 MBP with 2 gig ram. I have a g.skill 128gig SSD (non-titan) that I'm trying to use.
When the SSD is plugged in via USB, it mounts, erases, etc. like a disk should. When installed in the computer and I boot from the install disk, the system disk says that it can't install on the drive- both 10.4 and 10.5 versions. In giving the error it shows the hard drive, but with the red sign on it.
Under the disk aid on the system disk the drive mounts, verifies, etc. I talked to mac telephone support, and they (talked to a macbookpro champion) said that the sata II on the disk is incompatable with the sata I on the MBP. I've seen YouTube videos with the same architecture SSD's running on the same laptop. And, sata II is supposed to be backwards compatable. And... the replacement drives that apple lists also are all sata II, every last one.
So, summary, the disk mounts externally. The disk mounts internally. But the system install disk won't install the the hard drive.
Is there a way to do a system install through the usb connection? Is something cracked out somewhere else on my computer causing this?

"Is there a way to do a system install through the usb connection?" yes and through firewire also.
Attach an external drive( I partition mine , a small one for the OSX install and the larger for my files or TM back up or what ever.
Anyway back to that small partition. Mount your Leopard DVD. Open Disk Utility and select restore. Drag that DVD to source and drag that small partition to destination. Select restore. Once done you can now boot into that small partition and install leopard from that partition as if you are using the DVD.
Intel Macs can boot from USB or firewire external drives. The partition mapping should be GUID.

  • Help...PC User, LR 5 Map & Web Modules won't load

PC DESKTOP User, Windows 7, LR5 Upgrade (did the same problem in LR4), Internet connection is fine.
Map & Web Modules won't load on main screen. Based on what I could find in the forums it looked similar to a MAC OS issue with Flash. SO...I updated Flash and it seemed to work fine. A few days later...problem was back. I re-installed Flash again. Fixed. Upgraded to LR5...worked ok. A few days later...problem was back. Reinstalled again...worked ok. Now problem back again.
Web Mod. - I can see the templates in Web, but nothing will load. When I select layout styles I either get a gray screen or a "gallery not found" message.
Map Mod. - No map comes up. Sometimes the MetaData panel will load, but it's empty like it's not seeing the photos. Sometimes the whole panel is blank.
(Side note: all of this works fine on my Laptop.)
    Help!!!

    Hi,
    Try repairing permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done.
If you see any warnings re: SUID messages, they can be safely ignored, information here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US

Restart your Mac. If that didn't help, go to Safari / Preferences - Autofill. Make sure *User names and passwords* is selected. Now open Keychain Access. (Applications/Utilities). Select Passwords on the left. Delete all keychains related to the sites you have problems logging in.
Relaunch Safari and try those sites. You should be prompted to save the login data to a new keychain. If that didn't help, login to another user account. Launch Safari. If you see the same problems there, then log back into your admin account, launch Disk Utility. Select MacintosHD in the panel on the left then select the FirstAid tab.
If Disk Utility reports, you will have to boot from your install disc to make repairs, instructions here.
Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

  • Windows Vista won't install Ipod

Latest version of Itunes 7.4.2 has been installed, unfortunately Windows Vista has located Ipod mini in "other devices" in "Device Manager", but it won't install the Ipod. I've reinstalled Iteune three times and searched the Windows Vista disk, but with no luck.
I'm on the verge of selling the ipod - any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks

I suggest either getting a Mac or going back to Windows XP because Vista is known to have these problems.

  • My new blank hard drive won't install OSX from the disk?

For some reason my Mac book pro won't install OS through the install cd or through the flash drives. It will load the disk but then freeze when I click install. It won't load through the USB either. I have done multiple diagnostics at the mac store and they tell me that my hd is bad. Twice the hd was fresh out of the box and installed that day. I spoke to a supervisor via phone when I called apple care and he told me that unless I have all apple parts in the computer they can't accurately diagnose the issue. It feels like they're trying to con me into paying double for a "apple hd". What can I do to get my computer working?

I would purchase an external USB enclosure for the HDD. With the HDD in the enclosure, install OSX and then mount in your MacBook. If you continue to have problems, it could be a faulty internal SATA cable.

  • ITunes won't install (at all) on my Windows 8.1 64 bit computer

I've tried downloading iTunes for Windows 8.1 64-bit computers and it won't install on my machine. I did everything like I think I was supposed to ... but nothing happens. In addition I've tried connnecting my iPhone 5S to a USB port ... nothing good happens. My computer recognizes the iPhone but it won't do anything with it. Also I've tried the suggestions from "windows 8.1 itunes wont recognize iphone: Apple Support Communitites" which entertains that I can open control panel ... find Device Manager and try to install new driver software from my disk ... with the suggestion that I 'browse' and find "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. ... and "Apple" does not exist under Common Files of either "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)"
    So now what????

What is the full text of the error message?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

  • Creative Cloud Desktop app won't install error 207; Adobe server?

Is there a problem with some of Adobe.com servers? My employer just purchased a CC subscription for my work Mac, and the CC Desktop App won't install. I've restarted my Mac, quit all Adobe products, redownloaded the DMG file (creativecloudinstaller.dmg), and checked to make sure my firewall is off. But I still get an error message #207. My DNS servers are set to the same ones that other Macs in my group are set to, and they have CC on their Macs.
I don't know if it's related, but I can't load "adobe.com" in my browser, either. All other webpages are fine, including (obviously) this forum.
I am using OS 10.8.5, connected via Ethernet, and my browser is Chrome.

Thank you for your help, Ned. I also called Adobe help via phone, and he confirmed that my company's server needed to whitelist several Adobe sites. The company had revised their servers not long ago, and evidently did not transfer their old whitelists (which is why my coworkers had previously been able to access Creative Cloud). The phone support person emailed me a helpful list that I could forward to our company's tech support center—but the link you supplied in your response was also perfectly relevant.

  • CS4 master Collection won't install on XP

After paying the big bucks for this CS4 Master Collection software, I can't get it to install. I have 1.5 gig of ram, all slots full. Will it not install with that? The install won't let me install on a drive with 123 gig of free space, the install pop-up says there's not enough room please change location. I change it to another drive with 197 gig of open space and it won't install.
Customer service is closed until Monday...I'll be back in class and don't get out until 8pm every frickin weekday.
I'm working on a sony the runs 3.20 ghz with the 1.5 gig of RAM. I just reformated the harddrive but windows takes up the C: partition but the extention is 123 gig, and I have several other drives (with hundreds of gigs open) I've tried to put it on....it says they're too small.
I've tried to install the trial version and it does the same thing. I'm at my wits end with this!
If there's only one out there willing to help me I would really appreciate, because Adobe doesn't seem to give a fig about helping me.

How much free space is on the C:/drive? Without a lot of room you'll have a hard time installing any program even if you install it to a different drive. Windows needs lots of free space on C: for installing applications.
If you have little free space, then whoever set up that machine did a very poor job of it. There is no benefit at all to installing applications on a different drive than the operating system.
