  • After dragging a map and navigating away all other scenes are off centre..

    My Flash document contains several scenes, one of them is a draggable map including hotspots/buttons to navigate to another scene.
    After dragging the map then navigating from one of the buttons the next frame is remains off centre (as if when the map was dragged the whole Flash movie has been dragged away from the centre stage).
    The map is a graphic, inside that it is a button and then inside that the navigational button.
    In the timeline in an actions layer I have:
    stop();
    mapisland.onPress = function(){
        this.startDrag(false,296,317,-55,10);
    mapisland.onRelease = function(){
        stopDrag
    mapisland.onReleaseOutside = function(){
         stopDrag
    And applied to the hotspot button:
    on (release) {
        this._parent.gotoAndPlay("Arrow");
    The navigation and drag work fine, however as I stated before when navigated to the "Arrow" scene the all that can be seen of it is just a corner.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
    Ric

    If your Jetpack is powered on then you are going to be liable for any data usage that occurs.  It doesn't matter if the usage was intentional or not.  The best practice while investigating a data usage/overage situation is to power down your Jetpack when you are done using it.  That is the only way you can be sure that your sleeping devices are not actually communicating and pulling updates.  Situations like this are often why I do not suggest Jetpacks as a primary internet connection from home.  Jetpacks are designed to be temporary and mobile internet connections best suited for a traveling business man or someone frequently on the move.
    It sounds like you have done everything that VZW can normally do in an overage situation.  You had your first overage wiped, had the device swapped out and changed passwords (although that shouldn't matter from your description).  The only loose end you haven't tended to is leaving the Jetpack powered on when not in use.  That or switching to a different Jetpack model or 4G LTE device (ex. USB modem+router or 4G LTE router) to see if they behave any better.
    My suggestion would be to terminate considering the amount of time and money you have already invested in this situation.  Give another service provider a chance and see if the performance is any better.  If you spend more time troubleshooting it should be on how to handle the termination fee (which is pro-rated). VZW will still be here if you decide to return down the road, perhaps things will be better.

  • Maps and navigation with the Nokia E75

    Hi
    I am thinking of buying the Nokia E75. Can you now download maps from the noikia store for free
    or is there a one of price or perhaps a subscription And would then also cost to use GPS for turn by turn navigation?

    As E75 is an S60 3rd Ed. FP2 device there are a couple of things to point out. Firstly whilst you can download regional mapping for offline use using Nokia Suite you would need to purchase a navigation license for voice navigation and secondly as device uses map data series 00.01.29.100 it is getting further out of date as time goes by.
    There can be an issue with license manager to allow you to purchase navigation license from shop and may need to backup essential data and restore device to "Out of box" state by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by user) and re-install nokia_maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis ‏5410 KB

  • HERE maps and HERE drive for Universal app

    Hi All,
    Is Here Launcher supported in Win RT apps?
    Our requirement is to show the following in the map both in phone as well as in tablet
    1. user's location on the map with lat/long
    2. multiple locations on the map with (lat/long collection)
    3. directions on the map with (source lat/long, dest lat/long)
    4. live traffic updates
    5. show different types of pushpins on the map with (lat/long collection)
    Right now I'm launching HERE maps and drive in phone using uri scheme, but it is not supporting point no. 2 and 5.
    In Phone, is there any other way to launch HERE maps/drive other than uri scheme?
    I'm not able to find HERE drive in windows store, is it not available yet?
    In Phone, is it possible to go the HERE maps directly without hitting HERE splash screen? I know we are launching another application so we dont have control over splash screen, but is there any way to accomplish this?
    Regards, Sivaraman

    Hi Sivaraman,
    >>Is Here Launcher supported in Win RT apps?
    Based on the official
    HERE Launchers API document, it looks like Here Launcher is not supported in Store app.
    >>In Phone, is there any other way to launch HERE maps/drive other than uri scheme?
    As far as I know, HERE Launchers API and Uri Schemes are the only way.
    Quote from:
    http://developer.nokia.com/resources/library/Lumia/change-history/archived-content/maps-and-navigation/here-launchers.html
    The services provided by the HERE applications can be used in two ways:
    1.By utilising the HERE Launchers API provided, or
    2.by utilising the Uri Schemes implemented in HERE applications.

    >>I'm not able to find HERE drive in windows store, is it not available yet?
    Yes, I can only see Here Maps in Windows Store now, so I think it is not available yet.
    >>In Phone, is it possible to go the HERE maps directly without hitting HERE splash screen?
    I don't find any explanations to talk about this in the above API documents, so I think it's not possible yet using official way.

  • The map guide and navigation will not work again

    i had guides and navigation for a couple of months now, but after upgrading the phone's software it's not even there, i try to enter the license keys it says code not valid. That's a big disappointment, and the problem is i have emails for all my phone purchases! when i enter the license keys it says license keys not valid, can somebody tell me what can i do??!!

    I have done this on several occassions. This works for 1 time then it stops. It "connects" allows me to set it up and then flashes amber. It did backup 1 time today, but now it says it is delayed and there is no back up. It worked fine until I updated the software and tried to extend my network. After this, it will NOT work at all, for any length of time. i just reset it, and was able to set it up, but it gave me an error message, is flashing amber and is not being recognized. Very frustrating.

  • Ovi maps and Nokia Maps

    I have recently downloaded the ovi maps update for free navigation on my 5800 however now I seem to have 2 programs in my installed apps menu, Ovi maps and Nokia maps. This is causing me some problems as my phones built in memory is now completely full and I am unable to do some things as I have ran out of on phone memory space. Which one is the main map software? And also can I uninstall one? If not then can it be installed on a MSD card and if yes how?

    As far as I can determine Ovi maps is the mapping software (program) which installs to C (phone memory) and Nokia maps is the map data that you have loaded which I believe are installed to E (mass memory).
    I can confirm that you do need both installed.
    The problem as far as I can see is that the previous maps versions 3.01 is built into the current firmware (v20 for N97 - not sure for 5800) and installing maps 3.03 does not remove or overwrite the earlier version so you end up with both versions installed and thus the extra memory footprint.
    This will remain a problem until a newer firmware is released which will hopefully have maps 3.03 (or later depending when next firmware is released) thus reducing the extra 9 megs or so used.
    Hope this answers your question

  • Nokia Map and Drive+ Beta on Lumina 920 Feedback

    So I took my new phone down to MD/DC area in the last few days and here are a few things that I would like to post as my feedback on what would be nice to have, fixes, etc.  [I used both my new Lumia 920 and my wife's Samsung Galaxy Note 2 as comparsion).
    1. Highest priority for me is that the routes from Here.net need to be able to sync down to the phone.  Nothing more is more important then this because when you have a custom route that you want to use (for example, to route around high traffic or potential high traffic areas).
    2. Extremely disappointed that a new road in MD (MD 200) was not used by the Drive+ and didn't even show up on the map on my Lumia 920 while it was used and did show up on Google map.  This road is a toll road and is over a year old already.  [And yes, I have enabled toll road in the navigation as well as selected 'faster route' as the routing to use under smart routing].  I cannot stressed how disappointed I am to not see Nokia Map have this route at all.
    3. Allow route changes on the Nokia Drive+ app.  As good as pre-planned trip and using Here.net, there are just tmes that it's much better to allow us to change the route based on latest condition.
    4. Never once did I see ANY traffic updates at all on both the Map and Drive+ Beta.  When it does shows on my wife's Google's Map/Navigation.
    5. I love that under Drive+, it tells you which lane to get into ahead of when you need to make a turn or merge onto another way. However, the flip side of that is that there's no way to know which road you're currently on.  This is probably more important for when you're in an area with a lot of highway/local way intersections.  Also, it would be great if it also will display the next major 'road' that you will be getting onto.
    So far I'm happy with some of the functionality and disappointed in some of Nokia Map and Drive+ and I have about a week left to decide to either stay with WP9 and Nokia or do I want to switch back to Android and Google Map.

  • Nokia OVI Maps - Free Navigation

    Nokia OVI Maps - Free Navigation
    Mobile navigation for everyone, the Ovi Maps takes you where you want to be and shows you what you want see, with navigable maps for over 70 countries worldwide. All this with only one click. And it's all free.
    - Free Drive navigation
    - Free Walk navigation
    - Free maps and map updates
    - Free Events guides
    - Free Lonely Planet guides
    - Free Michelin guides
    You thought Garmin and TomTom were in trouble when Google announced its free Navigation service? Wait until investors hear Nokia's news.
    Reuters is reporting that Nokia will offer free navigation on its smartphones. However, instead of just the US (the current Google limitation sans hacking), Nokia will be demonstrating its reach by offering free turn-by-turn directions in 74 countries and 46 languages - a move that should cover 20 million smartphones globally with Ovi Maps available in over 180 countries.
    Update: The original San Francisco Chronicle report has been pulled but Google cache caught a bit more saying that Nokia's navigation service is "capable of operating completely offline" unlike Google Navigation which requires data connectivity.
    Update 2: Nokia just made the download link live. Hey, where's the N97 and N900.
    Update 3: And it's official. Starting today, Ovi Maps walk and drive navigation is free across the globe. Drivers receive turn-by-turn voice guidance including lane assistance, traffic information (in 10 countries including the US), and safety camera and speed warnings while pedestrians will be guided on shortcuts through parks and pedestrian-only zones in over 100 cities across the globe. It all works offline too, which should extend battery life and keep that navigation humming even while puttering about in data dead zones without racking up international roaming charges (take that, Google). From March 2010, all new Nokia GPS enabled smartphones will come installed with the new Ovi Maps application and pre-loaded with local country map data and walk and drive navigation with access to location-aware Lonely Planet and Michelin travel guides at no extra cost. Additional premium guides like a weather service and events / movies are also included. Just 10 devices from Nokia's massive catalog are available today a list that includes the N97 Mini, 5800 XpressMusic, 5800 navigation edition, E52, E55, E72, 5230, 6710 navigator, 6730 classic and X6.

  • N95, updates, maps and going online

    Hi
    Updated my trusty N95 to V 35.0.002.  Have managed to update maps using latest Ovi suite.  See below for hints)    Have just installed UK maps and English voice and now have 30 days only free navigation. (Just what does happen to my old licence that I paid for 3 yrs?)  'Old' maps was set to go online via WiFi at start up using one of several wifi access points and always worked perfectly.  Now, maps starts and after a few seconds a message comes up saying that there is 'no internet connection, go to Tools" etc. I then go round in a loop where I tell the phone to go online and it tells me that it can't connect.  (This can be during a time when I am connected via a browser to WiFi - ie I have wifi internet access. It also won't connect if I am not already connected via wifi.) My N96 is set up to do exactly the same ( log on via wifi) and manages to log on to wifi by itself.
    Any ideas on how to make my N95 connect to the outside world with Maps?
    Hints for updating maps.
    As can be seen from the forums, Ovi maps are a pain.  I too found this.  My recommendations are:
    Uninstall any previous versions of Ovi - it doesn't seem to update properly.
    Use something like CCleaner to uninstall anything with Nokia in the title.
    Download the latest version of Ovi suite and install.
     This seemed to work for me.
    Note:  If you have PC Suite installed and Maploader 3:  This worked for my N96 on my work PC running XP SP3 and is recommended because you can select lots of maps and queue for auto  download and installation.   It doesn't work on my laptop running Vista.  I had to use Ovi and install one map at a time on the Vista system
    PC Suite and Maploader 3 running on XP refuses to recognise my N95.
    Also, it is possible to download a maps package for both the N95 (nokia_maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis)
    and N96
    (nokia_maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.2_lm_rom.SIS)
    from Nokia.  If you try to install using PC Suite to either a N95 or N95, both packages say that they are not supported by either the phone or PC Suite.   So why are they there and how can you install them???

    Hi,
    If you come out of the Maps application and go to Options > Settings > Connectivity > Destinations > Internet/ WAP Services.
    you can then select which access point is used for the various network destinations.
    Search for existing Access points and see if you can set your O2 Prepay WAP access point as priority 1 Access Point.
    Then within Maps ensure that Internet/WAP Services is the method selected to go online in Options > Tools > Settings > Internet >  Network Destinations.
    Cheers
    Although i work for Nokia, my opinions are my own!

  • Apple Maps and 3G/4G GPS?

    I have a third generation iPad running iOS6.1.3 with the latest version of Apple Maps - I think!
    I do not have the 3G/4G facility operational as there is currently no SIM installed.
    I also have NavFree maps and this latter uses my iPad's GPS ability to allow me to track my movement when out and about, it loads the map, finds me and tracks as I travel.
    Apple Maps, however, seems to present a series of grey patterned lozenge shapes unless I am connected to wifi.  The little blue pin is there, beaming away, but whether that is actually where I am I cannot tell as I appear to be in the middle of a landscape of grey lozenges!  The pin does, though, appear to "move" as I do, although that may be either an optical illusion or wishful thinking!
    Is this one of Apple Maps legendary bugs - sorry, undocumented features?
    Can it be that the free NavFree maps harness the inbuilt GPS facility available on my model and yet Apple's own Maps doesn't?
    Surely not!
    If it is a still to be resolved bug, then when is it likely to be fixed?
    And if not a bug, then just why does Apple provide GPS ability and yet not provide a mapping system which can use it?

    Yes, ofcourse its supported. I am in United States
    Yes, My APN settings are corretly entered. I have no problem with other applications.
    Infact the WAZE social navigation app is working perfect on 3G

  • OVI Maps and bluetooth carkit at the same time

    I tried to use OVI Maps on my Nokia 5800.
    If my bluetooth carkit is connected, I don't have audible route descriptions. As soon as the carkit is disconnected, I can hear the driving instructions again.
    Is it possible to use navigation using OVI Maps and a bluetooth carkit at the same time?
    Erik

    @ErikdePotter
    Welcome to the forum!
    This was possible if you used Nokia CK-300 carkit (now discontinued) which had dedicated CarMenu application installed upon device:http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/nokia-ck-300/application-software as option to route "All audio events" via car speakers!

  • N96 - GPS local maps and voice guided navi for 3 m...

    I see on the box of the N96 :
    "Including local maps and voice-guided navigation for three months"
    So after 3 months there is no local maps and voice ?
    Why that ?
    Even a cheap GPS at 100 euros has maps and voice forever
    I dont understand. I have paid the phone and his features or not ?

    I have to disagree with you there.
    The system is designed to suit all users, not just those that use the phone for navigation in the car. Plus many people won't use the phone for navigation but will use it as an interactive map book.
    Also with all the new and upcoming location based services that nokia now offers it is very important to have up-to-date maps.
    If we had to pay for map updates then many of the location based services wouldn't be accurate or worth using.
    So for a phone based navigation program it makes much more sense to get free maps. Obviously they have to recoup the map costs from somewhere so they have to charge for the navigation feature.
    For dedicated in car sat-nav systems such as tom toms then it makes sense for them to give you the navigation for free. They make their money by charging you for new maps and maps for other countries.
    So in some ways nokia's system is better because you have maps of most of the world totally free. It's also the only system that could suit the majority.
    At the end of the day no one is forcing you to use nokia maps either. If you don't like it then install a program like garmin XT. This program is like in car sat-navs where navigation is free but you pay for maps. A very expensive option if you travel to many countries.

  • Maps stops navigating after leaving wifi

    My wife has been trying to use maps for navigation on her phone. It starts out fine, but as soon as she leaves the wifi connection from our house the voice navigation stops and won't restart. Any suggestions? Tried restarting her phone. Checked her settings. Only thing I can think of is restore the phone.

    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
