Maps App satellite view has switched to old images

When I got my iPhone 5 a couple of weeks ago, I was pleased to see the satellite view in Apple's Maps app comprised of recent images and even showed my house which was only built 18 months ago. BUT today, I went into the app and the image showing my house appeared for a split second and was then replaced with a view from many years ago which showed buildings which have long gone.
I live near Leeds, England and checking views of the city, I was amazed to see that the images are at least TWELVE years old!
Why is this? Very disappointed! :-(

Same here, I use Find my friends regularly around leeds area and it like its suddeny stepped back in time to like 1990 or somet, Its rubbish

Unable to open maps in satellite view on my E6

lately i was asked to perform an update to the latest version of my E6, and after i did that i was unable to view my maps in the satellite imaging, instead only road line showed up as if in the map view. any suggestions ??

Google and Apple have apparently parted ways in the 'bundled apps' area.
If you don't like the bundled map app, then your option is to look for a replacement in the app store.

Why did map apps downgrade after upgrading iOS 6?

I expect upgrading OS means every apps got improvement. But why did my google map downgrade into apple map? Does anyone know the reason?

Had it happen on my iphone 4 that I use as an ipod now and I did a complete restore and it fixed the problem. I did do the over the air update the first time and this time I did it by connecting to itunes.

Removing the Google map app

I made a terrible mistake by upgrading to iOs 6, I cannot believe that theGoogle map and street view has been replaced by a crappy app from Apple. Its terrible, I cannot explain how much I hate it. I'm thinking leaving my iPhone and iPad to another system which handle Google map. Bad mistake, I'm sure that Steve Jobs would never permit to release such a crappy application.

First letter shortcut in app list view - Lumia 800

Hi all,
I recently downloaded a couple of apps of my Lumia 800 and I noticed that the app list view has been rearranged in to groups by the first letter of the apps name. Although I find it functional and overall it looks well, I’d like to know if this can be turn off. The only downside I see is that I find myself scrolling down a for longer period of time.
I appreciate any support.

This subject has been discussed before, and it is a built in feature that automatically triggers once the number of apps reaches a certain level so you can quickly search for a specific app in a long list. It is a built in feature and cannot be changed AFAIK, there may be changes in future updates, but I doubt it, Personally I find it very useful, and assume most users do as this is only the second thread I've seen mention it as an issue, and as the number of apps available for WP increases I would assume it will become even more useful. The only way to remove for now, as far as I can see is to remove apps you don't use/like untill your list is short enough not to require it. Also, this is a software issue and it may be worth commenting in the Microsoft Windows phone forums, as they may be able to give more SW issue related info ?

Web App detail view.

We are going to rebuild a property listing site in BC. We can create a web app with list view and detail view as per the knowledgebase. What we need to do though is make the background image change for detail view page.
Please see http://www.cadigal.com.au/Properties-for-Leasing for an example. Each detail view has a different background image. Can this be done? How?

You can create a custom string field in your web app for the image URL and then use jQuery to append the background image style to the body or some other tag. Perhaps you can look at this function http://api.jquery.com/css/. Or you could maybe use this function as well http://api.jquery.com/append/. There are probably other ways of doing it, but that would be my approach.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Updated my iPad 2 to ios6 and wish I didn't. Lost the wonderful maps app and I'm miserable. Is there a replacement app coming from google with street view for iPad?

Looking to the community for a suggestion for the best replacement map app for my ipad2. I regret "upgrading" to ios6 when I lost the old maps app. I used it daily and had perfect functionality for my purposes. Now I wish I'd researched it more before I clicked '"install." Is there a google replacement coming soon with street view that works like the old one? Is apple working on fixing the existing app to include the features of the old app? So sad....wish I could go back!

I tried the google Maps app on my iPad2 but it looked terrible. Blurry when expanded to 2X, clumsy and not intuitive. Terrible for my purposes and way different from the old Google Maps app. Per International Business Times (12/13/12):
"While iOS users may be rejoicing at the return of their favorite navigation app, it should be noted that Google Maps has not yet launched for the iPad. The version currently available in Apple’s App Store is only for the iPhone, and Apple Maps will still act a the default Maps App on iPhones even after Google Maps has been installed."
Perhaps it'll look/behave better when an iPad version is eventually released. But thank you anyway.

Can we save satellite images from the Apple ios Maps app?

The Apple Maps app has a more recent image of my property than Google: I'd therefore like to save the satellite image to file. Is this possible?
The only option I can find is the 'Print' command, but this just prints the Standard map without any satellite imagery.
As an alternative, can we view Apple's maps on a standard browser, e.g. Safari ?

You can do a screen capture of the Maps display. Just press the On/Off and Home buttons at the same time (briefly) and you will hear a click. The image can be seen in the photos App.

You do a restore as new to wipe the iPhone then at the end of restore you will be asked to restore from backup. Choose your iPhone backup.
Note you cannot restore an IOS newer than the IOS on iPhone, you need to update iPhone first.

No satellite view in Maps?

Satellite view still works on my iPhone and on my mac, but the controls to switch to sat view are not there on my iPad. is there a way of changing to satellite view?

You should have at the bottom of the map something that looks like a turned up page. Click on that to set satellite view. Click here for Gmap image

How to create the floating message view like Map app and Safari does?

I am trying to implement a information message view like the Map app and the Safari does.
Here is the description:
1. When you drop a pin in the Map app and then tap on the pin, you always can see a floating transparent message on the top of the pin.
2. When you tap and hold on a link in the Safari app for a few seconds, you can also see a same message view like the Map app does and without showing the disclosure button.
All I want is such kind of thing, but I had look through out the documentation and the Interface Builder components list. I can not find such a component.
Does anybody has a similar experience on implement this?

You're not going to find a control to do this for you. You will have to create a subview and set the properties (color, frame, etc) yourself.

Satellite view of OVI Maps

Hi Folks,
Can anyone give me some advice about the Satellite view (and even terrain view) of ovi maps. I've put version 3.03 (but the problem existed in the previous 3.01) on today - which currently looks nice and works better, but when I select satellite view (map displayed -> press Cogs -> press Satellite View) the map view is replaced block by block by a repeated patteren of green stripes.
Is this the expected behaviour, or should I be seeing a satellite image? I have left the phone (N97) displaying the map for about an hour hoping that perhaps the map would get updated, but so far only 16kb has been downloaded.
The map was loaded onto the phone by Nokia Map Loader.
The green stripes result is the same regardless of whether drive mode or walk mode is used.
Am I doing anything wrong?

This is very frustrating.
I've been using my maps OK Offline on my Nokia 5800 (I downloaded the maps via the internet).
I now want to view in satelite but I just get green diagonal stripes instaed of trees etc.
