Maps Application on Ipod Touch 2g

My partner recently bought an ipod touch 2g but cannot get the location to work on maps at home via our wireless router even though i can detect it on my iPhone. Safari works on it just not maps - any ideas how to rectify??
Thanks
Ange

The iPhone used GPS to determine location, while the iPod touch uses WiFi triangulation, the latter of which doesn't always end up with the correct or any location. I'm in WI and my Map's Location Services says i'm in OK! Granted, I don't live in a major city or anything.... Would be nice if Apple could put GPS in the touches, too, but I know that serves the smartphone market better.

  • Comment fermer totalement une application sous ipod touch 4g ?

Bonjour a tous ^^ voila mon probleme :

  • Unusually effective Map app in iPod Touch

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
My first Gen iPod touch seems to know where I am when I'm using the Maps application even if I'm not connected to any wifi network. This happened to me in San Francisco once but I chalked it up to the prevalence of WiFi network there. But recently I was driving around Oxnard (not a place with great free and open wifi coverage) following directions on the map app I had set up ahead of time, and I found that the blue dot showing my position changed as I was driving around, showing my current location in real time.
How the heck does this happen? The thing doesn't have GPS AFAIK.

You might have come into an area that allowed your iPod to update your position. (It happens.)
No iPod has a built in GPS that I am aware of. That's an iPhone feature, because they have the 3G thing.

  • Lost Applications on Ipod Touch 2nd gen

I dowloaded applications directly onto my ipod touch from my wireless connection. When connecting to my desktop to sync I lost these applications. They are not showing in my library on my desk top or my itouch. How do I get these back - I used @$50+ itunes cards to purchase these. HELP please
    Message was edited by: jbq1966

So far it is working - we are dowloading them now. Another question - if we sync to the desk top again - will they disappear again - or is there something we should do to keep this from happening when we sync?

  • Download Applications on iPod Touch

Can user download applications on the iPod Touch?
Or I can use only apps that I have on my Touch?

first, how come above you say 'my ipod touch' and now you say you want to buy one?!
Anyway! the ipod touch is amazing!
    * the internet feature is almost like the safari on mac or pc (im using safari on my windows pc!)
    * the music download is cool and allows you to download music from almost anywhere (aslong as there is wifi)
    * the touch screen tops it off! making using it easy and fun- alot easier than a click wheel
    * the picture viewer is also good, and you can zoom in by 'pinching' the picture!
    * also the music is quite good quality, not as good as the ipod video though!
    * youtube is cool, and when you are in a wifi zone you can watch all the music from youtube!
it seams, so far the only downside is the music quality, but unless you have really sensative ears (to sound quality) you wont notice it!
    hope this helps!

  • New Applications on iPod Touch

I was wondering if you could put other programs on the iPod Touch? For example, I'm a pharmacy student and was wondering if I could put drug programs on it? Thanks!

So, let me get this straight, I cannot download applications to my itouch but rather I just access the website when I want to use the application, but on July 11 there will be new software that will enable a true download where I can access an application even if I am not connected to a wifi server?
    Thanks

  • Aim chat applications on ipod touch

i was just wondering if apple, or possibly later in february, will release an application for the ipod touch that will allow instant messaging programs like AIM to work on the touch? i know there are web apps that can be used like meebo.com or flick.im but i think it would be great to have an app instead of having to log onto a website to chat. if anyone has any news on an app like this id very much like ot hear it.

Yeah I've pretty much been wondering the same exact thing.
I have the iTouch, and I know you can jailbreak the touch, but I hear it's not good for it and it could possibly screw up your touch completely. So I'm not so sure that I'd like to do that..
I'm a high school student, and all Aim sites are blocked by the schools internet connection, and I wish I could have a permanent Aim App for the iTouch without jail breaking it, that way I could be on Aim while in school.
and I'm a senior and it's the middle of the year, so you really can't tell me to focus on school

  • How To Delete old applications in iPod Touch

I downloaded many applications when I bought my iPod touch,, now that I wanted to delete some applications,, I can't delete it,, I tried to touch the application longer, but there are no "x" in the upper left of those application that I wanted to delete,, How can I delete those applications??

    No good.
    - If the Restrictions passcode was added since the last sync/backup then restore from that backup. Turn off Autosyncing otherwise when you connect the iPod to the computer the old backup will be overwritten and the backup with than have the Restrictions Passcode.
    - Otherwise you will have to restore the iPod to factory default/new iPod.
If the Restrictions passcode is i the backup, restoring the iPod from backup will also restore the Restrictions passcode.

  • Mobile Maps Europe met Ipod touch 4G

    Goedemiddag,
Mobile Maps Europa GPS Navigatie, v8.2, Ontwikkelaar: Sygic (4+) .
Graag een oplossing voor dit probleem.
    Met vriendelijke groet, Davey Hajema

Here is the translation in English...
Recently I bought Sygic MobileMaps Europe EUR 49,99 for my  IPOD touch4G 64GB.
Acording to Apple specs, the APP is working with this generation IPOD touch
    However, GPS location is constantlylost.
Mostly a message appears ‘No GPS signal.
    I turned 'location available' ON.
PDA-site is mentioning that Ipod touch is working fine with this App. Mobile Maps Europe GPS Navigation,v8.2,

I hope somebody has a solutionfor me.

  • Also unable to put applications on ipod touch

We just "found" my son's ipod touch after many months and cannot put applications on it. It does not have an appstore icon. We downloaded seom free apps from the itunes appstore, but when we click on the applications tab of his device, it does not let us select any of them for syncing. I saw an earlier post about having an updated ipod version so I just purchased the ipod 3.0 software and there is no difference.
    Please help. Thanks!

A couple of things to look for:
    1. Do you have an iTunes store account set up?
    2. Go to Settings > General > Restrictions and see if you have any restrictions set up to block iTunes, app installation, on so on.

  • I'm missing some Apple applications on iPod touch.

Twice now I've had stuff disappear from my 1st generation iPod Touch. The first time it was all the music - about 17GB worth, which was restored. Now I've had at least three critical apps disappear, namely Safari, iTunes, and the App Store, which has effectively stopped some other applications from working. Neither time was the iPod attached to anything.
I updated to 3.1.3 after this most recent loss hoping they might re-appear, but no such luck. I didn't think the default applications could be deleted, intentionally or by accident. Any way to bring back the three missing Apple applications without restoring the whole thing again? I'm on the road now and about 8,200 miles away from my iMac backup, but I do have a MacBook.

Check Settings > General > Restrictions. If restrictions are enabled for those apps, they are disabled and their icons are hidden.

  • Maps application with I touch

If I am at home and using I touch find directions using maps application, and then leave my location, will I still be able to access the directions?

will I still be able to access the directions?
You mean the 'turn by turn' words?

  • Delete applications on ipod touch

How can I delete applications from the ipod touch? Thanks

By the way if you remove the app through your iPod you will also have to delete it in iTunes by going to the Applications tab, selecting the app in question and pressing delete to completely delete it or else every-time you sync the app will be reinstalled.
If you have a problem with a specific app, I usually just uninstall it through my iPod then just sync it with iTunes. It will reinstall the app and that has always fixed any problems for me.

  • Maps, pins and ipod touch 4g

I've been dropping pins like crazy on maps in my 4g touch... after they turn red(purple when first dropped) I can not remove them... any help in deleting those pins?
    thanks

thanks... that's fairly intuitive. the pin/pins are NOT associated with any bookmark, or if they were they association was terminated yet the pins remains. even after relaunching the app.
even if I have multiple pins associated with 1 location they all remain.
