Maps can not find my location, or gives incorrect results

when I tap the "locator" icon at the bottom right of Maps, it can't find my location, or gives incorrect results such as San Francisco, or somewhere south of Detroit, MI

This is what I did, and it worked for me. My location was coming up in the correct city, Philadelphia, but at the wrong neighborhood, a couple of miles away. I turned off the wifi, and made the locator find me by Edge only. Then I turned the Wifi back on and had the locator find me again, and it went back to the wrong location, but 2 seconds later found the correct address within a few blocks. I have the Original iPhone BTW.

Do you have a wifi signal?  In order for the wifi only iPad to get any location fix, it needs to be connected to a wifi node - it's only way to determine locations is by looking up the wifi networks hardware address in Apple's wifi node location database of approximate locations (as mentioned already, it has no GPS chipset to use GPS location data).

May be I shall change any settings?

    @alexMoscow
It should only be obtaining the very first postional fix that might take time, although if inside building WiFi/Network GPS positioning method should very quickly grab position from previously determined router access point location.

  • HT1420 I can not find the location of the "authorize" button.

I can not find the "authorize" button on the itunes menu?

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • Removed a connection from network map, can not find again

I removed a home computer from the network map, intending to block access. While I did achieve that, I am now trying to remove the block and allow the computer to reconnect. There seems to be no way possible to do this. Everywhere I search has told me to simply remove the intruder status from the network map, but the computer I'm trying to unblock does not show up on the map whatsoever. I've reinstalled my router, and that affected nothing. Is there another way to completely revert the router to factory default? Or is there some piece in the software that could fix this that I am not seeing? The computer's OS is Vista-32bit (that can not connect).
    Thanks for your help,
    Steve.

  • Can not find my location

Since i update to ios6 location services not working, please help..

I searched a bunch of forums and the only solution that worked for me was to change the default DNS from my router's address to something more generic like Google's DNS:  8.8.8.8
You can find this setting under your network settings for your WIFI, and see if this works for you.
Other things you can try are restarting your Ipad, powering down and repowering on, checking that your iPad has Find my Ipad enabled in the iCloud and Location Services.

  • Any body has the problem that the map can't find your location?

I have the problem that the map doesn't give my location correctly. Is it because of my wifi net work? or it's the map's bug?

Yes I had this problem, a restore fixed it (I didn't restore because of that problem but after the restore it was able to find my current location again)...

  • Maps app not finding my location after upgrading my iPad to 4.3.3

Most of my other apps are having the same problem. The location services is on for the apps that are doing this. Is any one else having this problem?

Spent all night on this, ended up completely wiping the iPad from scratch, still no location services.
(I also tried, unsuccessully, to downgrade to 4.3.2, but hit problems)
I've seen other people mentioning this problem and being able to solve it with the simplest things, like resetting Network Settings under Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.  We've a second pad that hasn't been upgraded yet and it's working fine, so this is yet another botched upgrade from Apple.

can not find file, must locate each song one at a time need to restore my whole library

    Hello BadSteve,
It sounds like iTunes seems to have lost track of all your music and you must locate each file individually. I would recommend at this point that you check for 3rd party plugins to see if there are any causing an issue:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3430
If the issue persists after removing the plugins, I would next try recreating your iTunes library:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I tried downloading iTunes to my computer. It gives me an error where it says can not find iTunes Helper. I uninstalled all iTunes, restarted my computer, and then tried again. I keep getting the same error everyime. What can I do?

Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes.  Please uninstall iTunes,  then install iTunes again.  Error 2 (Windows error 2).
Many thanks. That issue will be causing the iTuneshelper error message too.
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version). If the following link takes you to the WinRAR home page rather than the WinRAR downloads page, click the Downloads header in the box at the left of the WinRAR home page to see the trial version downloads:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Download ios 7, and the location function is off, I can not access because I forgot the key constraints, I can not restore the iphone because I can not find iphone app access

download ios 7, and the location function is off, I can not access because I forgot the key constraints, I can not restore the iphone because I can not find iphone app access

If you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten, restore the device from the computer to which the device is synced. For information and instructions, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If that will not work, you'll need to put the device into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If that still doesn't work, as a last resort try DFU mode:
    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034
If your device is running iOS 7 and you set up Find My iPhone (iPad/iPod),  however, then it has the Activation Lock on it and you'll need to enter in your Apple ID and password to activate the device after restoring:

Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base, before you post a question.
