Maps for BlackBerry 9900

Hi,
I recently bought a used 9900 and it doesn't have BB Maps installed.
I've tried downloading it from here
http://us.blackberry.com/apps/blackberry-apps/blackberry-maps/blackberry-maps-download.html
but when I enter my email address and click Submit it gives me an error. I don't see it on Blackberry World either.
Is there any other way to get it?

  • Skype for Blackberry 9900?

    What about BB 9900

Hi, OB3, and welcome to the Community, Skype has not made any recent announcements about plans to release versions of the Skype app for older BlackBerry OS devices - that includes OS 5, 6, and 7. Skype Lite, upon which we were able to use Skype, was decommissioned in January 2013: https://support.skype.com/en/category/SKYPE_LITE/
Skype is now available on the newer BlackBerry devices such as the Z10, Q10, and Classic running at minimum the 10.1 OS. As the BlackBerry 9900 workhorses continue to age, I do not believe it likely that we will see any further updates either to the device, operating system, or apps.
    Best regards,
    Elaine

  • 7.1.0.074 for BlackBerry 9900

How do I get OS 7.1.0.074 for the BlackBerry Bold 9900? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Thank you for answering me. I have searched hi and lo. You'd think BlackBerry would have an archieve of older OS. Too much to ask for? It's such an easter egg hunt looking for anything on this site. Oh well.
RIM (btw -- "BlackBerry" is a device, RIM is the company that makes them) does not control any OS releases to end users. The carriers are 100% in control of that process. It is that way due to the support model, and that support model is contractually controlled. The carriers, by agreeing to be BB carriers, further agree to providing 100% of the formal support to their end users...as part of that, the carriers test and certify the specific OS packages that they will support for their specific customers. And, like all things, they roll off older versions as newer ones come along -- it's way too difficult to keep their staffs fully trained on too many different versions.
So, if RIM were to do what you desire, they would be violating the terms of their contracts with the carriers. Not something that is easy to accomplish at all.

Anybody have any ideas on where I can get a download of 7.1.0.074? I must have it to have 2G capabilities.
As a formally RIM-sponsored site, it's not allowed to discuss things that are outside of the contractual controls. So, while I'm sure that there is some archive site out there somewhere, links to it cannot be provided as per the Ts and Cs here. But, I'd be hopeful that your favorite Internet search engine could provide you with possible results, or at least pointers to archive sites at which the friendly site managers might be able to answer your quest.
If anyone wishes to provide PaulaJava with links, please do so via Private Message on this site, not in the public posts.
    Good luck!

  • Maps for Blackberry

Can anyone help with this?  I am trying to download Blackberry Maps from the official Blackberry site.  It keeps telling me though that I am using an incorrect browser and Maps can only be downloaded using Internet Explorer and no other browser.  The strange thing is I am actually using the most up to date version of Internet Explorer yet I still receive this error message.  I am confused but am I missing something/doing something stupid?  Help?!?!?

It may be nothing to do with your problem but I had something similar following the unsiccesful removal of Google Chrome and the installation of IE8.
    Have you recently done similar?

  • Software update 7.1Os for blackberry 9900

Hey, I have recently tried updating my software to the new 7.1, and when I try installing it, my screen stays frozen when it is backing up "social feeds" my mobile network connection has also turned off... It has been frozen like this for over 5 hours... Any ideas on what I do?

If you're updating via BlackBerry Desktop Software, unplug your phone, shut down the software, plug your phone back in, start up the software again and wait.  Once the software tries to connect to your phone and sees that your phone doesn't have a proper OS installed, it will suggest one to you and will ask if you wish to install it.
If you're updating OTA (Over The Air), remove your battery then reinsert it.  If you're not offered the opportunity to install an OS, you'll need to plug your phone in to your PC and use BlackBerry Desktop Software as I've described above.
Keep us up to date on your progress.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • Tube Map for BlackBerry 10 requesting password after being removed from device

Deleted this app from my Z10 and everything was fine.
Changed my mobile carrier from O2 to BT and now I'm getting a notification once a day from this app about my account password needing attention.
I reinstalled the app and changed all the permissions to NO and then removed the app again. Still getting the notification everyday.
Anyone know how to totally remove this 'invasive' app?

OK, I'm one of those people who switches off my mobile every night and back on in the morning.
The notification occurs either when I make the first call of the day or when I connect using Blackberry Link. Sometimes I can make a call without the notification occurring and then it happens when I connect to Link in the evening.
I have installed and removed this app twice. Neither time have I created a user account and have the settings inside the app set to location only so no personal details are allowed to be passed across. When it was installed and not set to run, even in the background, I was receiving alerts about problems on the tube system/network. My concern is that Blackberry World needs to investigate this app with regard to what it's doing without the users permission.
I have looked at the developers support website and to send an email you have to give out personal details that I'm not willing to do to a company that seems to already be obtaining data from my phoine even though it's, supposedly, been removed.
This app, under my definition, is spyware/malware. As such the security integity of my Blackberry phone is being comprimised.

  • An Update for BlackBerry Maps is Seriously Overdue

I've been with BlackBerry 10 since day one with the Z10 and I've noticed that the BlackBerry Maps app never really gets any love. This is a bare bones app that has still not gotten the update it needs and I believe many of us feels it is time.
It seriously needs public transit directions and schedule updates and incorporating nearby POI when asked (much in line with what the BlackBerry Assistant does). I'm personally not a person who drives and prefers transit and I find this really frustrating not to have such a great feature built into this app.
The option to view in satellite and and a hybrid of the satellite and standard map view is also important.
Performance updates is needed as it is taking longer than usual for the app to load due to 10.3.1.
Please update the app soon if you want to attract more users.

I've used BeMaps Pro, Google Maps and Blackberry Maps in tandem at one point, but I just don't get why Blackberry doesn't do what Apple did for iOS, Nokia with Windows Phone and Google for Android. It's a native app and a no-brainer that should come standard on any smartphone eco-system!
It shouldn't be hard to provide an update these days, I mean, Blackberry should be able to figure it out why it hasn't been able to attract more new users and actually RETAIN them.
I get the fact that the bottom line for Blackberry is corporate base and security, but to really get them locked in, the native experience is really what matters the most. A user shouldn't need to rely on several apps just to do one thing. I'd say re-invest in TAT and Blackberry World, make it attractive and maybe even make it into a cash cow too.
I find Blackberry Maps more reliable than Google Maps, but am hesitant to say 100% simply because Blackberry Maps feels like Google Maps lite and so does other apps. I don't want to sound like a whiny fan, but please, the phone is supposed to make your life easier, not harder.

  • Podcast for Blackberry - no Explore Podcasts option on Bold 9900

    Hi,
Just got my new Bold 9900.  Originally supplied with a Orange sim and number and has recently had my Vodafone number ported across to it..
With the orange supplied Sim and number, the Podcast for Blackberry app worked fine and I was able to use the Explore Podcast option and find a couple of podcasts that worked well.
Since my old number being ported across, i have lost the Explore Podcast option and no longer can add podcasts.
I found KB25642 which explains the exact problem, but following the workaround does fix the problem.  Can anyone help?  I am in UK.
    Cheers

  • Travel and Map Applications for Blackberry

Can anyone tell me what's a good (free) travel/mapping application for blackberry?  I had google maps, and wasn't so in love with it.
I checked the blackberry website and found "poynt."  Is that a good one?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Poynt is not a great mapping and directions application, but it is a good yellow pages type app.
Aside from Google Maps, there is AmazeGPS, Nav4All, and may others.

  • Camera flash light switches off my blackberry 9900

Whenever I want to snap with the flash of my blackberry 9900 the fones goes off..why

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Can I get a QQ software for Blackberry Z10

I get two Blackberry mobiles , one Blackberry 9900 , one Blackberry Z10 ! I am Chinese living in London , The QQ , just like face book it is really important and necessary for European or Anerican etc. There is an increasing number of Chinese people use Blackberry , it means people need it when they use it or after buy !If the soft ware is not already they won't buy it after the people checked information about APPs online, and RIM will lose a big part of prospective customer .So I am waitting for the Chinese APPs not only for QQ , we need others also like : wechat , renren , 58 , QQreader , FM radio , QQlive , baidu ,Qzone, etc. Thank you very much !

Click on the BlackBerry World™ icon and then search for Telstra 24x7
Click on Install to start the process. The App is provided subject to its own End User Terms
    Click Accept & download
Click on the icon once the app has finished installing to launch the app. The App has been designed specifically for use with BlackBerry smartphones running operating system 10 (OS 10). As of July 2013, the models available that will work with the app are the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10.
    Troubleshooting
To access the full features of the app, you are required to log in using your My Account.
You can use the app without logging in to My Account; however the application will have limited functionality. If you've skipped the My Account log in - you are still able to log in by following these steps:
Select the Settings icon (two cogs) from the menu screen
Select Manage services, provide username/password in My Account login panel
    Select Connect to My Account
If you have trouble logging in:
You'll need to either be connected to 3G or Wi-Fi - check that you can browse to a website
There may be technical issues connecting to Telstra systems to obtain data - if this happens, wait a few minutes then try again
Make sure your Username and Password are correct. If you forget either of these, go to the My Account login page and follow the instructions to reset your Password or retrieve your Username
If you receive an account restriction error message
You aren't a Legal Lessee, Full Authority, or Limited Authority on the account. Only these account holders can access the account functionalities of the App OR
You're a Telstra Business or Enterprise and Government customer. Telstra 24x7 App currently only supports Telstra Consumer customers
If the app can't connect to My Account
Ensure your data connection is enabled, either via 3G or Wi-Fi. Please note that if you connect via 3G on a Telstra service without logging into the App, we may be able to automatically retrieve some service details about your device, but not all functionality.
There may be a high volume of users - wait a few minutes then try again.
Note: You will not be able to register for My Account within the app. This feature is currently not supported in the application. However, to create your account, navigate to the My Account registration page from your computer or laptop.
    Usage not displaying
Telstra 24x7 App is unmetered for mobile data usage within Australia when on the Telstra network with the following exceptions:
Store Locator with map view set on
Help and Support - Using 24/7 Support on Twitter
Help and Support - Accessing 24/7 Support on Facebook
Standard data charges will apply when downloading the app from BlackBerry® World™
Note: Standard International Roaming charges to access data through a mobile internet connection will apply when roaming overseas.
Estimated usage will be shown in the same display format as mobile services and will appear for select Telstra broadband services.
You will be unable to see 'My Usage' data for all My Services at this stage. We currently only support usage information for Pre-Paid mobile services, mobile services on a plan and select broadband services.
The app may not be able to update your usage details for a number of reasons:
There may be technical issues connecting to Telstra systems - if this happens, wait a few minutes then try again
You may not be logged into My Account. Check by going to Settings then Select Manage services
You might not be connected to the internet, try opening Safari and visiting a website.
At this stage only newer and select BigPond then Internet services are supported.
Why are my recent charges on the app different to what I can see online?
The recent charges on the app is different to what is displayed online in order to help you gauge your current, pre-bill estimated usage. The final list of charges will appear on your bill.
Bill summaries may not be displayed for a number of reasons:
The app currently only displays a summary of your current bill and 7 months prior. All previous bills are accessible via theTelstra My Account website. To further drill into your bill details and information, please visit Telstra's My Account website to view your itemised bill. Service details are the Telstra services associated to the bill you are currently viewing.
A bill may net yet have been issued
There may be technical issues connecting to Telstra systems to obtain data - if this happens, wait a few minutes then try again
You might not be logged into 'My Account'. You can check if you're logged in by viewing Settings then Manage Services. If you skipped the 'My Account' registration, the app may be able to display limited usage and service details, but you will not be able to view bill summaries
You might not be connected to the internet, try opening Safari and visiting a website

Bills can be paid via the app, and all payments will occur within the Telstra 24x7 App and you'll have access to a stored payment method.
You can choose to receive bills via email through the My Bills screen. When viewing the bill history, click the email icon in the top right hand corner of the screen. You will be prompted to review and accept the terms and conditions, once accepted you are required to enter and confirm your email address. Once registered to receive a bill via email, you can edit the email address via the App. This is achieved by following the same process as to register - the option to edit the email address will be presented to you in the app. If you want to change back to paper bill, you'll need to log into your My Account from T.com to change back to receiving paper bills.
    My Services not displaying
You can add your Pre-Paid service to your My Account via a computer to ensure it's displayed.
The difference between My Usage and My Services
My Services provides a full list of your accounts and services linked to your My Account profile.
My Usage provides a list of your mobile and select internet services which have associated usage information.
The Telstra 24x7 application only shows the following services:
Service details associated with your My Account user profile
Service details for the current device you're using if you haven't logged into the app
New services may take up to 48 hours before they appear.
At this time, services are not able to be added within the app. To add and view a service within the app, you'll need to login to My Account or you can us on 13 22 00 anytime.

    Pre-Paid recharge
Recharge is currently only available for your Pre-Paid services associated with the My Account login you're using or the device you're using if you are a Telstra mobile customer connected via 3G.
Tap Recharge within the side bar to view the Pre-Paid services available to recharge. You can then recharge the following ways:
Within the App by using a stored credit/debit card associated with your Pre-Paid service. Simply select the recharge amount, tap continue, and then enter your recharge PIN. If there is no stored card found, you will be presented with the option to recharge in Safari.
Using a voucher - simply enter the 12 digit authorisation number and tap continue
Online, via SMS, Facebook® and my phone
When you recharge online you're provided with an option to store the card details along with your account. You'll also need to set a PIN for your credit card. Once this step is completed, you'll be able to access the stored card with the app and recharge using your PIN.
Your PIN is associated with the stored credit/debit card on your Pre-Paid service. Recharge online to store a credit card against your Pre-Paid service. Note: You must be connected via 3G.
There are a number of reasons why your recharge might be failing:
You have provided an invalid PIN
Technical issues connecting to Telstra systems to complete recharge - wait a few minutes then try again
You have failed to provide the correct PIN 3 times
You only have 3 attempts at providing your PIN. After you've failed 3 times, your stored card details will be deleted and you'll need to add it to your account again by recharging online.
Your account may be suspended due to multiple failed recharge attempts.
    Plus Packs
Click on the View Bonuses and Plus Packs to view the amount of bonuses and plus packs remaining as well as the expiry that's associated to your current Pre-Paid mobile number. You'll need to recharge your Pre-Paid service and the amount of bonuses that you'll receive is dependent on your recharge amount.

That's a pretty comprehensive list. Not much left, except you missed Apple maps, now they really do "need some attention". (avoiding your unpleasant 'merkin phrase).  Not having a phone that has more than a numeric keypad I haven't seen Blackberry maps, are they better?
Seems such a waste of fuel and effort and aviation time for everyone to repeat what Google have already done just for competitive advantage.  Build a new street and they all have to fly over it again (on a sunny day of course, not cloudy like Apple did. Couldn't see half of England)
