Maps in landscape mode

Why doesn't Maps auto-rotate to landscape mode like many of the other built-in apps (mail, safari, photos, etc..). Incredibly annoying not to be able to see certain map views in a landscape mode. This seems like basic functionality and I can't believe it was overlooked.

I get the probelm he describes as weel. What he means is is that when running Google Maps in landscape mode, first, GM does not go full screen. I takes up about 3/4 of the screen on the left and the buttons on the right never go away. The buttons on the right are the standard top 1/4 is Search (or See List or whatever the context may be) the bottom 1/4 is Option (sure it changes based on context as well) and the middle half (where two 'buttons' would fit are empty and you can see through to your home screen if that's where you invoked GM from.
The two questions are, why can't GM really be Full Screen in Landscape, and is this a GM issu or a S60 issue?
I tried to take a screenshot but Best Screen Snap can't deal with Landscape I guess. I have to let them know.

how do I get my 5800 with maps 3.0 to display landscape mode. Just bought the 5800 as i was sick of my N96 but is there not a way to display maps in landscape mode or am I just missing something really obvious?

I´ve tried that as well and unfortunately there is no way to make the phone display Nokia Maps navigation in landscape mode...very annoying...
Since the software has some other more serious bugs, I hope they´ll update it soon and maybe, if we´re lucky, they implement a landscape view as well...

N8 won't go to landscape mode

Hey everybody,
I've had the N8 for a month now and I'm loving it. The main reason I got the phone was because of the picture and video quality and it's ability to become my all-in-one device.
I've ran into a problem now that I need help with. My phone won't rotate into landscape mode. This is a problem because now I can't type texts and messages in qwerty form and using the portrait keyboard is a pain in the butt. Has anybody else experienced this? Is it a hardware or software problem? I've already searched throughout the internet and have tried the following solutions but they didn't work:
Change the sensor settings on the phone and ensured the auto-rotate display was activated
Removed any apps that i downloaded since the problem occured
Restarted my phone several times to see if that worked
Did a soft reset on the phone and chose to delete and restore the phone to factory settings.
test out the accelerometer by downloading the level app (app did not run for some reason)
None of these solutions worked for me. I haven't done a hard reset because I've read that Ovi Maps will not show up on the phone. I have a feeling it's a problem with the phone's accelerometer. I am tempted to call Nokia support but I'd rather fix this problem at home if it's a simple solution.

One final thing you can try is a factory reset of the phone.
If you dont already have it, download and install Nokia Ovi Suite
Connect phone to computer and do a backup of its contents through Tools -> Backup
Disconnect phone from computer
Choose Call -> dial *#7370#
Phone asks if you want to restore phone to factory settings, answer yes
Phone restarts.
Try the landscape mode again.
If it still doesnt work, seems the sensors dosnt work properly and phone needs service.

While on my way to meeting today and iPhone maps doing it's usual poor job of being a map, it somehow turned to landscape mode. How do you switch it back to portrait mode?

IPhone 6 month view in landscape mode??

hello, was wondering if there is a way to view an entire month in landscape mode on the regular iPhone 6 just like we can on the iPad?? Couldn't find it and would love this feature if it doesn't exist. I don't schedule things by the hour. I think the screen is plenty big for this and the month view in horizontal mode is useless since the little dots won't show colors.

Keyboard won't react when in landscape mode on SMS?

Hi There.
I updated my 5S to the IOS8.
After that, I had problems when writing an SMS. Sometimes (almost every time) the keyboard doesn’t react to anything when turning to landscape mode. I then have to turn the phone upright, and the down to landscape again. The screen then goes black, and I can press the home-button to see the screen again.
I actually thought this was a bug in IOS8 since it appeared after the update.
Now I bought the IPhone 6. And I set that up with the complete backup from my 5S. I then updated to IOS 8.0.2, and the problem is also on my IP6
I can’t find anyone else with this problem, so what can I do now?
Is the only solution to reset the IP6 to factory default, and install sms, and contacts via iCloud?
But then I have to install all the apps manually?
I have a lot of apps with personal settings, and different mail accounts. I really don’t want to do all this.
Anyone have a solution?

Same issue here. Just did the download now I'll hit the alpha key on the screen and it does not register. Only happens in landscape mode. Only tried it on imessage and SMS, did not try email yet.

Problem with rotation and landscape mode in iOS 8

From start of iOS 8 I have got problem with rotation in my iPhone 5S 32GB as well as in my iPad mini retina 32GB. Automatical rotation to landscape mode is not working correctly. For example if you take the phone or tablet to landscape mode in base display and tap to Safari, Mail, Messages, the app will start but stay in normal mode, not landscape. Then you have to back the phone to normal portrait mode and back to landscape and only then the phone do the landscape mode. I have never seen this problem in iOS 7 or older.
Could you help me anyone with this problem? Or is the problem generally in iOS 8.

Brian, thanks, but it's not a rotation lock issue - at least not relating to the rotation lock setting. It's just a general use setting. Right now i have my iPhone propped in landscape mode. If I now hit the home button, essentially returning to a portrait setting though my phone is still positioned in landscape, then open any other app that supports landscape, that app WILL NOT orient itself to landscape mode. It will stay in portrait mode. The phone has to be physically oriented to portrait, then back to landscape for the app to register landscape mode properly. This is a glitch, and not a rotation lock issue. it ought to be noted that this was not an issue in iOS 7 or any previous iteration.

How to print a report in landscape mode?

I have tried to print the report output but i could not found an option to set LANDSCAPE mode and also how to change the font size.

CRVS2010 Beta 2 - report does not print in Landscape mode correctly

I am using Crystal Reports Beta 2 for Visual Studio 2010 on Windows XP. I am trying to print a report in landscape mode. The WPF Crystal Report Viewer displays the report correctly in landscape view. When I print it, it moves all the data to the center of the page, prints it in smaller font and to the left and cuts off a lot of the data on the right hand side.
I have tried various different suggested solutions from reading other forums and nothing seems to work. Is this a known Crystal Report Viewer issue?
Solutions I have already tried:
1. Page setup under Crystal Reports - selected no printer (optimize for screen display)
2. Page setup under Crystal Reports - checked dissociate formatting page size and printer paper size
3. Setting paper orientation and page orientation at run-time to landscape.
4. Printing to different printers
Something to note, I can export this report as a .pdf file and it prints perfectly from adobe. This only seems to be an issue when printing directly from the WPF Crystal Report Viewer to the printer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have been stuck on this issue for a while...

Hi Sharon,
There have been issues with printing and printers in CR 2008 and the same routines are in CR 2010. The patches we have done to help with standard paper sizes in CR 2008 are not in the Beta releases.
Not sure if they will make it into the GA release next month. As a work around I suggest you continue exporting to PDF and then printing the PDF file until they have been resolved and patches are available.

Landscape mode not attainable

From FILE -> Page Setup -> I select "Landscape," but the view remains in Portrait mode and I am not able to work in Landscape mode. I found one solution here that says I have to set the width and height for Landscape... any ideas as to WHY landscape isn't working?

Hi Yvan - I am using the latest Appleworks for OS X, 6.2.9. Also, the post you referenced is the one I had already read telling the reader to manually set the width and height for landscape mode. I'm wondering why I can't simply choose "Landscape" and have the view in Appleworks change to Landscape? Landscpe is a standard feature in all page setups for all applications! Seems to me it should work without having to manually set it to a pre-determined width and height. Any suggestions?

This could be from having restrictions enabled. Icons completely disappear when "restricted"

Since I upgraded to iOS8, my iPad screen permanently shows the bookmarks bar down the left. This means I can only use about ⅔ of the screen when in landscape mode. Is there something I am missing which allows me to hide/show the bookmarks bar? Thanks

You need to write HTML and JavaScript code for this, the code will display a print dialog box, from print dialog box you need to select the landscape and click on print.
