Maps, lack of color / contrast in drive mode

I have updated by n8 with Anna and Maps 3.08, 11wk41 b02, map version 0.2.43.117. It works fine except when driving to a destination on a freeway / motorway. The roadway is a gray color that blends into the background and even though it zooms in at interchanges it is small. Thus, at 70 MPH you cannot clearly see where to turn without staring at the scene, very dangerous. This makes it unusable and unsafe for freeway driving and it must be changed. Can I go back to the old version, or do I just start using my Tom Tom GPS and dump the phone.

BTW I have v3.06 and there is a 'Gears' Icon in the Bottom - Middle.. If its similar in v3.08, Change the options there to see for any difference.. Probably the Night mode is ON..

A/B Color contrast in develop module

It would be really nice to hace a slider (or three, I'll explain) for "color contrast".
Threre is "contrast" slider that influences the luminosity basically. What I would want to have is a way to control color contrast while preserving luminosity as well as preserve color balance.
A single slider implementation
Basically the simplest way (but a bit crude) to do it would be with a single slider.
The slider defaults to 0.
Moving it to the right would be equivalent to the following photoshop procedure:
Change mode to LAB
Curve adjustment
Steepen both the A and B curves linearly (pull extreme points in and leave the curve straight, plus keep the center where it is to preserve color balance)
Leave the L curve alone
Apply
switch mode back to RGB
Moving it left would be the same, except the AB curves would be made shallower rather than steeper (rotate the curve clockwise instead of counter clockwise about the center)
A two slider implementation
Same as the above, except that you would have separate A and B sliders (you might call the tint contrast and temp contrast to be consistent with the color balance sliders, which are just like moving the center point of the AB curves)
A three slider implementation
Basically this is like having bothe the one slider ("overall color contrast") and the two sliders ("temperature contrast" and "tint contrast"). It's a bit redundant but having the single control there makes it easier when you simply want to globally increase the color contrast without being too picky about the two separate controls (I guess easier for beginners)

Not at all. The saturation control has quite a different effect that this, and much les subtle. Saturation just increases saturation without changing the hue. This actually changes the hue causing a separation in hues that is impossible to achive in any manuver you would to in RGB space. It drives colors apart rather than increasing their chroma.
Try it yourself on a few images (especially on images that have nearly uniform color, such as deserts or faces. You will see that this is an entirelty different thing than saturation.

Should I seek a 3rd party for color/contrast?

I installed Mountain Lion a couple months ago.
Although there are a few feature I really like, Apple took away a lot of real basic stuff away for no apparent reason.
One change in Mountain Lion is the lack of color in icons (like in the Mail SideBar, and the in Finder SideBar). They also took the contrast away (like in the Next/Previous buttons on Safari).
Sure, everybody has their opinion as to what they like and dislike. Sometimes just preference. But other times it's a matter of usability. If you are older and/or your eyes are not as good as they once were, upgrading to Mountain Lion may make you feel like you've aged 10 years overnight. The lack of Color and Contrast makes the OS harder to use for some.
There are some third-party tools/utilities that bring back some of the color and contrast found is older OS X version (e.g. Snow Leopard).
So my question is this. Should I risk causing problems with my OS X by using these 3rd party utilities, or should I wait to see if Apple puts the color and contrast back into OS X? Is Apple working on this, or are there too many more important issues to work on?

Not strictly true; 10.6.8 and up have Quarantine with definitions for known trojans etc updated by Security Updates.

I can't restore my Nano or force to Disk Drive mode

Help!
I have a 4 month old 2GB Nano that I cannot restore with IPOD updater nor can I force into Disk drive mode. It isn't recognized. Basically all the things I find on the help page. If I reset the IPOD (menu and select buttons) the nano will reset but it will not be recognized by Itunes or IPOD updater. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Palm Drive Mode not working with Mac OS 10.4.9

Since upgrading to Mac OS 10.4.9, my Palm LifeDrive PDA does not work in Drive Mode (no hard drive icon appears when connected by USB). There were no problems in 10.4.8 or earlier. This issue has been mentioned by other users on the Palm Discussion forums but no solutions have been offered. Palm Tech support also seems to be in the dark (for now).
Does any one else have a similar problem and any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated?

Yep. Found the same thing with my Tungsten T5. I even tried the trick that seems to be working for the TomTom guys by plugging it in through a USB 1.1 hub but that doesn't work either. It just locks up the Palm and I have to reset via the button on the back.
Apple doesn't seem to be doing anything from what I can see either as I've not heard of any proposed fixes from them on this.

Change background color during text edit mode

THis is a wacky problem...
I have a presentation template. The slide master has white copy in the title and black copy in the body/bulleted list.
When I try to use the template and edit the title copy, the background color for editing that line is white, just like the text, so I can't see what I'm typing. I can't figure out how to change the background color during text edit mode so that I can actually see what I'm typing. Is there a way to make this transparent?
For some reason, the body copy edit works fine: black text edited in either a white or transparent background color.

SD Card in Drive Mode

When I use Drive mode on Windows XP, the SD card, which previously was visible, is not showing up on my computer, only the Life Drive shows up.

The Life Drive sees the card ok and it is visible on the Life Drive Manager, however, it is not showing when in Drive Mode. Using XP, my computer only shows Life Drive but not the card.

Lightroom 2 & 3 Beta color, contrast WAY off on display 2

Lightroom 3 Beta 2 / Windows 7 64bit / Dual calibrated displays
Display 1 connections are HDMI out to digital in, display 2 is digital out to digital in.
PROBLEM
In both the Lightroom 3 Beta 2, and Lightroom 2 v2.6 632038, color, contrast and so on are WAY off on my number 2 monitor. If I drag a Photoshop CS4 window from the left display to the right display I see no difference, looks fine. This is also true with Picasa 3, and iMatch Digital Image Management software and preview images in Picasa photo viewer. The issue seems to be just with Lightroom.
I don't see any settings for adjustment of the Lightroom right hand screen in either version - Help appreciated, IM

If you want to, you could zero out all the settings and then save this as a preset and then automatically that preset to all imported images. Not really sure why you would want to do this though. All your images look pretty flat. The default settings do a fair job of approximating what you see on the back of you camera when you made the shot and give you a good place to start. I tried zeroing things out for a while, and then found out I was bringing every image pretty much back to the defaults, and so stopped doing that.

Using the Color Panel in HSB mode

Using the Color Panel in HSB mode. I start by selecting a color in the spectrum at the bottom using the eyedropper.
As I drag the eyedropper through the spectrum it seems the H slider moves to the same color.
1. Is the H slider showing the same exact thing that is in the color spectrum at the bottom?

Yes if you drag a strait line so that the other two sliders don't move. In other words you are changing only the Hue (H). If you drag up and down the other two sliders Saturation and Brightness will be affected.

The new update to AT&T Drive Mode app turns off the touch screen lights and the blue indicator lights on the Samsung Galaxy S5! This needs to be fixed in the next update!!!

Pre Doesn't Allow USB Drive Mode in Snow Leopard Mac OS X 10.6

Hi All--
One other question. I have two Macs, a MacBook Pro late 2006 running Mac OS X 10.5 (leopard) and a MacBook 2008 running Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). The older MBP prompts me to choose USB Drive Mode, but the newer Macbook does not. I was hoping to transfer some Amazon MP3 store purchases to the newer mac and cannot. I have not tried any sort of hacks or anything... the phone's fairly new; only had it a couple of months.

Hmm, Snow Leopard doesn't treat the phone any differently, if its a standard USB port you should still get the on-screen prompts for USB Mode or Just Charge.
However, you can try the Option-Sym-U keys pressed all at once, this should also kick you into USB Mode (it was put in place for folks with a broken screen to get their photos, etc, off the phone before replacing).

Want to use Drive Mode with Bluetooth

I would like to know who is calling before answering the phone. I have Drive Mode on my phone, but if the Samsung Bluetooth HM1700 is on then the Drive Mode will not work.

Doing NOW()-120 is a very simplistic way of seeing the problem since it's extremely ambiguous. I.e.: NOW minus 120 "what"?! Minutes? Seconds? Years? Oil Tankers?
Precision is key. NOW() yields a timestamp (an object of the actual DATA TYPE timestamp!), so I am just assuming you mean days.
Timestamp data types are modified (projected through time) using the TIMESTAMPADD function which in your case would result in this formula:
TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_DAY, -120, NOW())

After syncing my iPad2 my color/contrast settings are all messed up. Reds are blue, greens are grey. It resembles infra-red images I've seen. How do I restore normal color/contrat settings?

Try going to Settings > General > Accessibility > white on black and turn this OFF.

Nvidia Windows Kernel Driver Mode 347.52

I play World of Warcraft and recently my game has been crashing and this message keeps coming up Nvidia Windows Kernel Driver Mode 347.52 has stopped working. It also tells me my computer was unable to download the solution and to do it later but
