Maps of Russia

For some reason Nokia removed whole regions from newer maps of Russia. For example, in maps that was available when N95 just came out, there was even Chechen Republic covered, now it's completely missing. They did make maps of larger cities like Moscow or Saint Petersburgh much better, but at the cost of completely removing some cities, or even regions.. It's like 'here we fix, there we break' ... I'm not saying those maps were good, they absolutely sucked, but better something, than nothing.

By the way: Nokia recommended me to post a claim here:
http://mapfeedback.teleatlas.com/index.htm
But as you can see, Russia is missing in the list of countries, which could be selected there!
What is the "Teleatlas", if they didn't include the world biggest country in their list?
M... Probably I will not recommend my friends to buy N95for using GPS features.

  • How to create Map report?

    Hello experts.
I'd like to know how map report works in OBIEE 11G..
Upon researching and trials, I have successfully downloaded and loaded the MVdemo stuff into my DB. I am able to import layers and back ground map into OBIEE. So at this point, I think I have set up the map metadata successfullly and I am able to use map as one of the view.
However, I'd like to know how to actually use the map view to create reports that are meaningful with my data..
I have 1 table, base table, where I have base name, attribute 1...10, latitude and longitude. I also have some fact tables that goes with this table.
It seems, as I was going through the MVdemo metadata, the cities table doesn't store all of the cities in the world (this is understandable), so the part of Russia where my bases are located aren't found in the spatial data.
My base table only has latitude and longitude, it doesn't have geographic region names.
Now I want to create one report that shows all of my bases over east part of Russia on a map, so I want to see a map of Russia with Base names plot all over it.
How would I be able to do it? Do I need additional tables or data to do it?
The examples I get from internet seems to be too generic
Please let me know your thoughts
    Thanks

    Hello
    I like this article:
    http://prasadmadhasi.com/tag/obiee-11g-maps/
    However, I have a few beginner's question..
    1. I notice that the author has a subject area 'Map', which was used to create map.. Is this subject area any different from normal subject or is it created specifically for making maps?
    2. The author has state, city columns in the DB, which was used to map to the report.. In my case, I only have longitude and altitude of my base in the base table, what can I do in this case?
    Thanks

  • N95 has bad GPS map inside!

Guys, is anybody here, who uses N95 as GPS navigator in Russia? No?
    Don't try, I guess.
N95 has wrong, old and very unfinished map of Moscow inside. Streets, directions are invalid. Road junctions are absent. For example, this map doesn't show the 3d transport ring of Moscow, but this is very important and strategic highway for any driver! Or if you take a look on Sadovoye ring - you would see some wrong crossroads, i.e. where Sadovaya-Koudrinskaya street intersects with Tverskaya.
I very appreciate Nokia for this beautiful and powerful smartphone, but I don't appreciate their map of Russia. Probably I will use another device for GPS routing in Moscow.

  • E72 Compass extremely not accurate

Hello. I have problem with E72 digital compass. It's not accurate - it is mistaken about direction I face in about 30-35 degrees and it makes compass useless. I've tried to turn off compass in Ovi maps, restarting device and recalibrating compass- still not accurate at all. I've turned all rotate sensors off and recalibrated compass- still no result. I live in Moscow (Russia) and got map of Russia downloaded by Nokia Maps Loader (or however this application made by Nokia called). Is there anyway to hard reset compass to factory defaults and recalibrate it? Or any other way to fix it's accuracy?
P.S. After each calibrating compass indicator tuns green, but in fact it isn't well calibrated as accuracy is very bad. And it always mistaken in the same way - compass points direction like it is turned to the right for 30-35 degrees. So the same accurate problem all the time - compass thinks he is turned to the right for 30 degrees but in fact it's not accurate.

Dear hadimassa, thank u for your reply. Unfortunately it is not very helpfull, but I appreciate your help anyway. I've read E72 manual and it's part about compass calibration. I know how to calibrate it so the indicator turnes green. And the point is not the accuracy of GPS - the GPS itself works brilliant if there are no hight buildings around. The point is that even 'calibrated' compass (when indicator is already green) points the direction wrong. Not totally wrong, but compass is mistaken for about 30-35 degrees. And even if GPS status bar is nearly fully green (many satellites seen by device) accuracy of compass doesn't improve. Maybe it is connected with my journey in tram. When I turned on Ovi Maps in tram digital compass went completly mad - pointing different directions every 3 seconds. But I thought it was because of electromagnetic field of the tram. Maybe it did damaged compass of my E72 by anyway? Is it possible?

Good day! How it could be?  In map of Moscow (Russia): street TVERSKAYA named as GORKOGO?
P.S. Info from Wikipedia: Tverskaya Street (Russian: Тверская улица), known as Gorky Street (Russian: улица Горького) between 1935 and 1990, is the main and probably best-known radial street in Moscow, Russia. The street runs Northwest from the central Manege Square in the direction of Saint Petersburg and terminates at the Garden Ring, giving the name to Tverskoy District. The route continues further as First Tverskaya-Yamskaya Street, Leningradsky Prospekt and Leningradskoye Shosse.

We are not Apple, we are users here just like you. When in Maps, you have the ability to report a problem with a map, make use of that avenue, rather than just provide information here. We cannot do anything about it.

  • Gps maps in E71

I am trying to use my maps GPS but my phone keeps telling me I'm in Russia when in fact I'm in UAE ( So's the phone ) How do I get it to recognise the place it's living.

Go somewhere where you have good access to clear skies (no tall buildings, etc), turn on Maps and wait...
    ...and wait...
It could take a while to get an initial fix when you move from one part of the globe to the other. In some extreme cases you might have to wait for half an hour (though the US should have pretty good satellite coverage, so it should only be five or ten minutes).
Once you get an initial fix, the next time you open Maps it will find your location quicker.
The reason for all this is that Maps remembers your last location and then uses that as the starting point for gather GPS satellite data. When you move a significant distance - like from the UK to the USA - then the satellite data that is cached is all wrong. This means that the program goes on a wild goose chase looking for particular satellite signals that it "thinks" it should be able to see. When it eventually figures out that it can't see those satellites, it goes looking for others.
End result is that when you haven't move too far between uses of your GPS, you get a reasonably quick satellite lock. But if you move to the other side of the world, it'll take a lot longer than it should.
So be patient and see how you go.
If I've helped you, you can thank me by clicking the green 'kudos' star on my post. Cheers.

  • WP8 Nokia Maps Lumia 820 - Offline Maps Can't Dele...

    Hello,
I have a Nokia Lumia 820 with approximately 1GB of memory free.
I am trying to download an offline map (approximately 150 MB) but I am always getting an error stating: "Not Enough Room, you need at least 1,137 MB of free space on your phone to get this map".
I get the same message when I try to delete a previously downloaded map!
Anyone had this issue before? Any help wuld be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

One year later, this bug is still around: Nokia Lumia 1520 (1028.3562.1402.0001) with HERE Maps 3.5.486.8.
In our German section, there is a guess, this relates to ‘maximum memory use’ (quota) which we all know from our Symbian days until Nokia Maps 3.01. It looks like the quota is fixed at 50%. Or stated differently: If your map data is larger than the remaining free memory, you get this error. or stated correctly: If your remaining free memory gets smaller than your existing map data, you get this error.
    Therefore, my solutions are:
to remove a very large country like Russia or China,
(three dots, horizontal ellipsis) Options » Delete all maps, or
to use a memory card and Lumia storage check beta.
The beta version still works on my Lumia Black. Because the now included Storage Check does allow Maps on memory card, you still need that beta. And because you cannot search and find that app from the internal Windows Store, you have to enter the above link into the Internet Explorer within your Lumia – or you download and install the XAP file manually.
Consequently, to download the whole HERE world, one needs a 64 GB memory card.

  • Drag and drop mapping UI element/functionality

    Hi All,
we are searching for functionality, in which the UI should contain drag and drop mapping options.
    e.g.
    we have ztableA(cities) containing values:
    NewYork
    London
    Tokyo
    Moscow
    we have ztableB(countries) containing values:
    Russia
    UnitedStates
    Germany
    England
the UI should contain above two table values vertically (cities on left side, countries on right), and the user should be able to map by dragging and dropping the cities with appropriate countries.
initially, the screen will look like:
    NewYork     Russia
    London      UnitedStates
    Tokyo       Germany
    Moscow      England
after drag and drop actions by the user, it will look like:
    NewYork     UnitedStates
    London      England
    Tokyo
    Moscow      Russia
                Germany
after the mapping is saved by the user, i can save the paired values in 3rd ztable.
for this UI, how can we achive, are what is the preferred way to get this, using webdynpro abap or fpm or any other?.
which UI elements we can use. We are on SAP ECC6, EHP7
    thanks in advance.
    Madhu_1980

    Hi,
You can use Table UI with drag and Drop. create an Event handler for onDrop and read the drag source and drop target then you can append those to new table.
Drag and Drop - Web Dynpro for ABAP - SAP Library
    Hope this helps u,

  • Mapping a scenario

    Hi,
I have to map a typical scenario.Company A is situated in Russia and  having no plant. Another company B is situated in india having manf. plant. when custsomer x based in Russia orders material  to compant A. Company A sends the requirement to company B in india. Now. I plant to map this with intercompany sales .
My problem is how to consider  factors like tax, currency conversion, documents involved in cross-border transfer like Cert.of origin, BOL etc.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Pramod

First of all be clear whether this is agency sales or third party.
If its agency sales then the company which sends you the requirement directly on the company in india will be eligible for an agency commission and this needs to be handled so. IN this case the company in india will direclty invoice the customer
If its intercompany sales the delivery will be to customer and the commerical invoice to the company giving the order.
In this case an invoice will go with the shipping docs which need not be for the full value. The ctual commerical invoice will go to the orderer.
Third scenario will be where the materal is supplied to the russian copany placing the order and the company supplies to the customer in Russia.
In case of all three scenarios, it needs to be handled as exports. Therfe will be no taxes or dutes applicable in this case. But for sales tax reporting you need to use tax codes to extract the data and also for excise you need to maintain a record of this transactions as well.

  • Can't see maps in Norway?

I purchased an E52 last year in Latvia, and successfully used its GPS feature in the Balic countries, in Russia and even in Italy.
But last month I moved to Norway, and suddenly... no maps available anymore
It gives the geographical location, but no streets or street names whatsoever. I thought it was depending on the roamning, but if I use a Norwegian SIM card, the result is the same.
I was using the Norwegian SIM card on another E52 that I got locally in Norway from my office, and GPS navigation was working perfectly, but this one just broke down so I have to use my old one purchased in Latvia.
I tried downloading the new Ovi, updating the phone software but... nothing.
    Any suggestions?

    Brunost69 wrote:
By the way, when you say "maps", do you mean the OVI Maps software or country maps?
These are separate entities so that although device may have version of OVI Maps application installed there is no country mapping data to go with it.
It is confusing as devices such as S60 5th Ed, Symbian^3 and Symbian Anna using OVI Maps v3.06 can use "Update" feature within application upon device to download maps directly via WLAN connection obviating need to utilise OVI Suite > Maps for this purpose.

  • IPad iOS 6: Took iPad to Russia and iTunes store thinks I'm still there 3 months later!  How to I rest it?

I took an iPad 6.0.1 with me to Russia.
I have been home for 3 months and though I have scoured the internet and tried all the different fixes I found -- nothing ever changes.
    I have reset:
    The Whole iPad
    Locations Settings
    etc
    etc
When using maps - it recognizes I am in NYC.
But every time I access the iTunes store - it thinks I m still in Russia.
And thus, for example, will not let me use HBO GO because it keeps telling me I cannot use it in that country.  [mind you - this is all in Russian text - not English]
Can someome give me a cponctrete solution or am I stuck wasting my day at the Genius Bar?
    Thanks in advance.

Go to Settings>General>International>Language>English. If everything appears in Russian, you know what the settings app icon looks like, the General Settinghas the Settings icon the left of it, International is the third setting up from the bottom, and Language is at the top of the next window
If you need to change the store .... go to the App Store. Tap on the featured tab, swipe to the bottom and tap on your ID. Tap View Apple ID. Enter your password. Go to Country/Region and change the store in there.
you can go to the Music section of the iTunes Store and swipe to the bottom and access your ID and change the store in there as well.

That likely means that you are not able to access that option from the US. You may have to consider giving up on the vodka.
