Maps v3.01, .sisx and 6220 Classic

Hi,
I've recently updated my firmware version to 05.15, and upon starting Maps (sorry I don't know which version I have currently), I get an error saying "Cannot open application. Get latest version from nokia.com/maps".
I've downloaded the appropriate file (selected using the tool on the website), but I cannot install version 3.01 as my phone will not install a .sis file. Is there a .sisx version of Maps which I'm obviously not seeing somewhere? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
If someone could point me in the direction of an answer I'd be really grateful. Cheers!

guys this is the link to ovikovi's sis file: try installing it:

  • 5320 expressmusic vs 6220 classic features

Which has better features and music quality?? 5320 or 6220 classic??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

i think i read somewhere i reviews that they are comparable in music quality, but if you are looking for a music-minded phone the 5320 is the one to go for. it has about double the music playing time, also runs on Series60, has worse camera (2MP vs 6220 5MP w/xenon flash), and does not have GPS navigation. oh and 6220 classic has 2.5mm audio jack port, not the standard headphones 3.5mm as 5320 has. it all boils down to whether you will be using your phone for imaging/GPS or music mainly. music = 5320, 6220 classic = imaging/GPS. but both are great phones.

  • 6220 classic, downloading maps

According to the manual (among other places) One should be able to download maps to the 6220 classic, from the website http://maps.nokia.com. On this page you are informed that "ovi-maps" does not support 6220 classic.
So OK, but how do I download maps to the 6220 classic then.

Assuming that you have latest version of OVI Maps for your device installed from here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/compatibility-and-download?intc=ncomsup...
You need to run OVI Maps application on your 6220 Classic with memory card in place to initialise and define folder structure needed by OVI Suite > Maps on your PC to allow download of regional maps.

  • 6220 Classic and New Battery Fun!

    Hi
I have a 6220 Classic and purchased a new Nokia battery for it (as a spare) but when I insert it the phone after maybe 10 mins says "Insert Sim Card" but when I put the battery that came with the phone back in all is fine.
Has anyone else had this problem

Are you sure you have bought an original nokia battery and not one of the many fakes that circulate through places like ebay?
If it is an original it is very odd and can't explain why it's doing it. I would certainly return it and try another.

  • 6220 Classic and iSync (v3.0.2)

The current version of iSync (v3.0.2) is unable to sync with the 6220 Classic. Will a plug-in be made available by Nokia that will allow it to work properly any time soon? TIA

    Problem Solved!
I went to a mac store and we found out that for some reason all the data concerning the old telephones you have needs to be deleted. I had a e51 before and it wasn't enough that I took that away from the sync, I needed to delete all the files from the I sync folder concerning the previous device. (they told me that it should not be like that) After deleting everything I had in Isync and bluetooth folders under the applications I installed everything from scratch and everything worked nicely.  DO NOT choose to set up your telephone as a modem at the same time! just Sync the contacts, calendar etc.
So, it was not necessary to upload the .sis file to the telephone at all. Just to upload the file from nokia/mac and run the Isync again without the old data in it.
(took me 2 days + was a real pain in the **bleep**, just to get my summer telephone linked with my laptop...)

  • Nokia 6220 Classic and iSync?

I'm trying to get iSync (v.2.0) to recognize my Nokia 6220 Classic phone. But it won't. I've tried downloading the Nokia iSync plug-in from their website, but each time I try to intsall the package, it says
"You cannot install the phoen plug-in on this vlume. Plaese upgrade to the latest evrsion of iSync using Software Update".
However, running Software Update doesn't find a proprietary update. Nor can I find one...?
    Thank you for any advice.

Move your iSync application back into the main Applications folder. You should never move Apple application from the default locations.

  • 6220 classic GPS, camera sound and flash off

    Hello,
How do I do the following (if possible)on the 6220 classic:
1.) Use GPS without going online (i've tried everything doesn't seem to work)?
2.) Turn off the shutter sound when using camera?
3.) Turn off automatic flash (it keeps switching back on)?
    Thank you for any response.
    Solved!

    Thank you for your response!
Exactly, it has never locked into position. It searches for satelites but doesnt find them (even if I turn off A-GPS).
Question: Could you explain what you meant with WLAN as an access point, since the phone doesnt come with WiFi?
My positioning server is set on 'automatic'
Accespoint: 'obligatory' (or similar, transl. from swedish)
    Serveraddress: 'something with ...3gpnetwork.org'*
    * sorry, dont want to give it out completly, could be a specifik user setting from my mobile operator.
    Thank you

    Hi zzan

Hi everyone, i recently purchased Nokia 6220 classic and i have some questions.
    1. MicroSD Card
I want a good microSD card(large, fast n stable). Whats the best for 6220c?
According to gsmarena 6220c only supports upto 8G microSD but according to Sandisk website 6220c can support 16G microSDHC. (?)
Can 6220c support microSDHC card with (2 in circle) and (4 in circle) rating? and which one is better?
The 8gb is the one to go for, asputting the 16gb card may make the phone run slow as the processor may not be able to cope
    2. Phone Lock
I can't find this option anywhere. I want the phone to ask the phone unlock pin(~4 digits) when i first turn on the phone.
If you go into the phone settings, then security, you have various ways of locking the phone either by locking the sim card or the phone.
    3. Video Recording.
Screen goes very dark during video recording sometimes, would new firmware fix this? i have Software version: 03.23, Software version date: 27-Jun-2008.
Also is it possible to disable the red light during video recording?
Not sure about the first part, but you cannot disable the lamp it is to let people know they are being recorded I think
    4. GPS, i'm on prepaid, is it possible to get free GPS service? if not which prepaid network would be cheapest for using GPS?
Nokia maps is very good, so long as you download the mapping download software first from Ovi.com to load them to the phone. It only costs about £50.00 (not sure) for the voice prompts as well.
    Thanks in advance.

  • 6220 classic

Just got a 6220 classic - tried connecting with my pc - dont think that really worked. Anyway my phone is now frozen and I cannot switch it on. What can I do ?

    @BIGTONE1
If I remember it correctly after release of Ovi Maps v3.04 an exception was made for two devices E71 & E66 to release v3.03 with free voice navigation, not sure where you got the idea that 6220 Classic ever ran v3.03 from.

  • 6220 classic GPS, satellite?

I'm looking at the 6220 Classic. Just wondering if the GPS can be completely Satellite based only? This is because I'm on a prepaid and do not have much money to spend per month so data is a no no.

You need to pay to get any navigation, not just voice. Without the license Nokia Maps will basically just show your location on the map.
If you are considering paying you should consider a longer license as it works out cheaper than paying by the month or week. I only pay by the week or month if I am going overseas for a holiday.

    Hi,
Delete your  remove action from the GPP and push it again, does this issue still occur?
If it still exists, let’s collect the GPP log for analysis:
Group policy Preference debug logging policy settings are located under:
    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy
Click Logging and tracing, select local users and group preference logging and trace.
Meanwhile, just a similar issue, but it is worth trying:
A user is added to the wrong group on a client computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

  • NSU error on 6220 classic - lost connection

Hi, I'm new on the forum but not a newbie on computers.
I've bought a Nokia 6220 Classic with fw 3.06, and installed NSU on Windows Vista SP1.
During the update to fw 3.23, I get a white screen on the cell phone with "03.23 Local Mode" and Nokia logo in green.
On the halted NSU it's 28 seconds to finish and after about 3 minutes it says connection was lost with the phone, shortly prompting me to remove the battery and restart it, trying to reconnect. I can't connect to the phone after that. NSU is then closed.
The phone, otherwise, seems to be working all right - it says that have fw 3.23 installed and all the applicatons I've openned worked so far.
However, this error is bothering me. What can I do?
PS: I've tried it 2 more times, always getting the same error at the same part of the update.

Very True Indeed, I Had The Same Problem & Am Not Able To Figure Out Why. What I Did As a Solution Though is that I reloaded My Firmware & at The Point Where it shows the Nokia LOGO checked My Device Manager & Found An Unknown Device, Manually installed the driver for it by pointing to C:\Program Files\Nokia\Flashing Cable Driver. Worked for me, But still I couldn't understand why the error occurs.
One Question To You doritosbsb, have you checked ur life timer(*#92702689#)lately? When I checked it out on My 6220c I found that i was running Unusually high. Like If I talk for one Minute it would show a increase in 6hour. MY Current Life Timer reads 0001875.00. The Funny thing is that I had the Phone for Just 5 Days..... Any Ideas?????

  • Fatal error connecting Nokia 6220 Classic

    Hi All
I have just installed the latest PC suite and am having trouble connecting my 6500-Slide & Nokia 6220 Classic.
I have also installed Nokia Software updater.
Basically i had a 6500 slide - this has connected fine no problems at all since i have had it. I have just got a 6220 classic lugged it in and got the following message:
    "Cannot install this hardware"
"There was a problem installing this hardware:
Nokia 6220 classic USB phone parent
An error occured during the installation of this device
    Fatal error during installation
    Click finish to close"
So i downloaded the latest software (Suite & updater) and tried to connect either 6500-s or 6220 Classic via the supplied CA-101 cable and get the same message each time i try to connect either phone!
I have tried uninstalling, re-installing, updating software and am stuck now.
Any help would be really appreciated.

    Hi,
wow, good fix and worked too (for my 6500 slide that is). For the benefit of those reading this post, i will re-post lillyplop's solution here:
Either rename or delete the file: c:\windows\system32\drivers\wdf01000.sys
Then reboot and prob should be fixed.
Also, perhaps nokia, look into the cause of this problem and maybe when nokia pc suite is launched, get it to rename this file then name it back when closed?
