MapViewer spatial data for UAE

Hi Experts,
I have been integrating maps for OBIEE implementations. Now I have landed on a requirement to create a map for UAE countries.
Is there any spatial data available in oracle for UAE.??
Thanks in Advance,

  • Spatial Data For India

    Hi,
    Can someone please help me to get the co-ordinates (such as Latitudes, Longitudes) to render India Map in OBIEE 11g version?
    I did have sent mail to NAVQTEC for the same, but still no response. Can someone please help me in getting the Spatial data which is compatible with Oracle 11g?
    Please let me know if there is any other vendor who can help me provide the spatial data for India.

  • Controlling access to Oracle Mapviewer spatial data through VPD

    I am building a web GIS application in Oracle Application Express (APEX) and have used the Virtual Private Database feature of Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition so as to ensure row level security. I've integrated APEX with Oracle Mapviewer through Oracle Maps API in order to display a map.
    VPD feature is working properly through the command prompt at the database level but I also need to use the VPD policy at the application level so that each authenticated user can only see his own spatial data on the map.
    So far I have accomplished that by creating as many data sources as the number of application users on the mapViewerConfig.xml file. Every time a user logs in the web GIS application, the correct data source is being employed.
    I was wondering if there is any other parameterised way that I can perform this access control functionality without having to create all these data sources.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Yes you can define a single "secure" MapViewer data source to achieve VPD or make use of your database VPD setup. For more details and how to get the Apex app user to MapViewer and then onto VPD you can check out my blog post here: http://oraclemaps.blogspot.com/2008/09/apex-oracle-maps-and-secure-mapping.html
    hope this helps,

  • Mapviewer - Spatial Data Cache

    I am trying to clear the spatial data cache in two different versions (mv10 & mv11ea) of Mapviewer without success. To confirm that the cache is being cleared I have enabled the report_stats as below in the mapViewerConfig.xml for both versions
        <spatial_data_cache   max_cache_size="64"
                              report_stats="true"
        />After a few requests I note the following in the log:
    Cache group PARCEL_VIEW_SHAPE_82473_PDT_GEOM statistics:
       capacity: 262144
           size: 145988
    load factor: 0.95
        # of chains: 88837
    max chain depth: 8
    avg chain depth: 1.6433242905546113
    empty bucket %: 0.6611137390136719
    total mem size : 28169KBKnowing (assuming) that this cache group is populated by a single theme that references the PARCEL_VIEW table I then issue the following via the Admin section of the Mapviewer control.
    <?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
    <non_map_request>
      <clear_theme_cache data_source="vicmap" theme="THEME_PARCEL" />
    </non_map_request>Then, after waiting patiently for the next set of statistics to appear in the log (BTW, is there a way to change the frequency from 10 minutes to something more regular?) I notice that the information for the cache group has not changed.
    Am I following the correct steps here? If I wish to clear the spatial cache, should I be monitoring these statistics?
    All advice most welcome.
    Ross.

    Hi Ross,
    we'll review the statistics reported and check why it is not changing. The frequency is currently hard-coded (5 minutes), and there is no parameter on the configuration file to change that. We may consider this in the future.

  • GetLiveFeatureAttrs() in MapViewer returns data for wrong coordinates

    Hi forum
    I am trying to build a small Java application to fetch and display data from MapViewer. I have a set of predefined themes and want to add a query theme, from which I can fetch further information through live features. From reading the docs, to my best understanding, the procedure to do so is this:
    1. Define a query theme with attributes and make it "clickable", and use the "raw" image format. GEOLOC is the sdo_geometry column, the rest are for the live features.
      String sqlQuery = "SELECT gravstedsnavn, nummer, areal, geoloc FROM gravsteder3 s where s.dblink in (" + retline + ")";
      mv.addJDBCTheme("bssys", "QUERY_DATA",  sqlQuery, "geoloc", "8307", null, null, null, true);
      String[] boundingThemes = { "QUERY_DATA" };
      mv.setClickable(true, "QUERY_DATA");
      mv.setImageFormat(MapViewer.FORMAT_RAW_COMPRESSED);
      mv.setBoundingThemes(boundingThemes, 0.05, true);2. I use a JPanel to render the map image, for which I want a tooltip to show the live feature given the mouse coordinate, when the mouse moves around the JPanel (mapDisplay being the JPanel):
    private void mapDisplay_mouseMoved(MouseEvent e) {
      Insets is = ((JPanel)e.getComponent()).getInsets();
      int x = e.getX() - is.left, y = e.getY() - is.top;
      mapImage = mi.getMapUrl("5", x, y, mapURL);
    }getMapUrl does the following to display the live features in a tooltiptext on the JPanel:
        String[][] test = null;
        try  {
          test = mv.getLiveFeatureAttrs(x,y,0);
        } catch (NullPointerException ex)  {
          System.out.println("No information available");
        if ((test.length == 0) || (test == null)) {
          jp.setToolTipText(null);
        } else {
          String gravstedsnavn = "";
          String gravstedsnr = "";
          String areal = "";
          if (test != null) {
            for (int i = 0; i < test.length; i++) {
              for (int j = 0; j < test.length; j++) {
    if (j == 0) {
    gravstedsnavn = test[i][j];
    if (j == 1) {
    gravstedsnr = test[i][j];
    if (j == 2) {
    areal = test[i][j];
    jp.setToolTipText("<html>Gravstedsnavn: " + gravstedsnavn + "<br>Nummer: " + gravstedsnr + "<br>Areal: " + areal +"</html>");
    This code works - the only problem is, that the attributes returned from the getLiveFeatureAttrs() function returns values from a completely different coordinate from the map than expected. I believe, that its my mouseMoved event, which causes the problem - but I havent figured out the way to pass the right mouse coordinates to getLiveFeatureAttrs().
    Does someone have a working live features example, and can anyone eventually see, what the problem with my code is?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Joao
    I have setup a public MapViewer server and modified your code slightly, so it can run against my server. The code should return a single rectangular polygon, and if you try moving your mouse around in the JFrame, the live features are available where they shouldn't be, ie outside the marked rectangle, so something is still not working right... Could you do me the favor to try to compile and run this code? My testsite testbooking.brandsoft.dk should be publicly viewable. Could it have something to do with the value of the SRID?

  • Jdbc-updating spatial data

    i looked to the next link:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/basics/connecting.html
    I want to update spatial data.To the previous link i found how to update tables but not how to update tables which contain spatial data.For example:
    CREATE TABLE customers (
    customer_id NUMBER,
    last_name VARCHAR2(30),
    first_name VARCHAR2(30),
    street_address VARCHAR2(40),
    city VARCHAR2(30),
    state_province_code VARCHAR2(2),
    postal_code VARCHAR2(9),
    cust_geo_location SDO_GEOMETRY);
    INSERT INTO customers VALUES
    (1001,'Nichols', 'Alexandra',

  • Best Practice for Storing Spatial Data in Multiple Projections?

    From what I've been able to determine MS SQL can't do reprojections is that correct? Assuming it is, the state of Washington requires that our GIS data be managed in Washington Stat Plane South
    but for our web mapping sites need the data in Web Mercator.  Is it OK then to have two geometry columns in a spatial enabled table, say a county table, one in WSPS and the other in WM?
    I’m coming at this from a 30 year background in GIS using ESRI software.
    Usually we would store the shape / geometry in one projection and project it to other on the fly when needed.
    That way there is only one definitive source.  I don’t see a way to do this in MS SQL.

    Hi Scott.
    Storing two columns of spatial data is fine in SQL Server. And you are correct that there is no built-in reprojection in SQL Server, most folks do that as part of data loading. There was talk of porting parts of ogr2ogr to SQLCLR, but I don't think anyone
    did that.

  • Conversion of .dgn file to .shp files for spatial data processing

    Hi All,
    Presently I am working oracle spatial database (10gR2). I have following task:
    Task: Spatial data loading into oracle database 10g Release 2:
    Task process description: Client has given the input file as with .dgn extension. So we have to convert that to .shp file and load to spatial database.
    There is utility in OTN site for loading data .shp file data into spatial database. This we can able to do.
    Now I am looking for how to convert the .dgn file to .shp file? I mean, if there is any tool for it or any commands to do this in specific environment.
    Any help would appreciate.
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

    Hi,
    There are several ways to do this.
    Get a general GIS format translator. I use FME. This can be obtained from SAFE at safe.com. There is a free 30 day evaluation.
    Get GIS software which has a data translation facility. Take your pick of the systems.
    Write some code to read the DGN into Oracle. The DGN format can be found at http://www.bentley.com/en-US/Products/MicroStation/OpenDGN/. You need to know the version of DGN.
    Ask your client to supply data in SHP format.

  • MDSYS Schema in the Database for spatial data

    Hi
    As MDSYS Schema is required in the oracle database to hold the spatial data, The client database server has no MDSYS schema installed.
    So, when i import the mvdemo.dmp file in the database it is erroring out since there is no spatial data, Please let me know how to get the MDSYS schema in the database.
    Thank You

    Hi thanks for your response, i found this out in the oracle site, DBA ran this script for creation of MDSYS..but there was no data in some of the tables which are needed for development.
    --- COMPATIBLE init.ora parameter is set to 9.0.0.0.0 or higher
    show parameter compat
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    compatible string 10.2.0.3.0
    If you create an Oracle database using the Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA), Spatial is installed by default and you do not need to perform the installation steps described in this section.
    Steps to create the MDSYS schema and objects
    1) Connect to the database instance specifying AS SYSDBA.
    2) Create the MDSYS user with a command in the following format:
    SQL> CREATE USER MDSYS IDENTIFIED BY <password>;
    3) Grant the required privileges to the MDSYS user by running the following procedure:
    SQL> @ORACLE_HOME/md/admin/mdprivs.sql
    4) Connect as MDSYS.
    5) Install Spatial by running the following procedure:
    SQL> @ORACLE_HOME/md/admin/catmd.sql
    SQL> ALTER USER MDSYS ACCOUNT LOCK;
    So this solution dint work out.......
