  • Steve Jobs keynote speech - how to get that quality and speed?

I watched Steve Jobs keynote speech with interest and envy.
How is it possible to get the video quality so good combined with so fast download - even on a relatively slow bandwidth I could more or less instantaneously scroll to the end?
I run a local net based TV station in Denmark http://www.tv-moen.dk and would love to supply that quality and speed. Can anyone help, please?
    Sincerely
    Sigurd Bo Bojesen

    Dav Sigurd!
You are right, the videos on your site do not run smoothly - lots of stopping and re-buffering.
    Presumably they are Flash videos?
    Have you tried contacting Adobe?

  • Steve Jobs Keynote and the ipod

I was wondering how steve jobs gets the screen to mirror the screen of the touch (or any ipod) Can I do this? Also, How does he hide icons?

    Jaz Dude,
First, the Keynote was done before YouTube was announced as a feature of the iPhone, and before the iTunes WiFi store, those icons weren't hidden, they just didn't exist on the iPhone.
Second, when he first connects the iPhone during the Keynote presentation he states it is a special unit for doing those kinds of demonstrations.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Steve Jobs keynote style overlay?

Is there a built in way to do the kind of effect we see at keynote addresses, where the video of Steve is in a small box in a corner, and the graphic he is talking about is more dominant in the frame?

sure, 3 'tracks', background, the charts, the video. by keyframing it, you can manipulate size & format of the two 'inserts'.-

  • No audio on Steve Jobs Keynote 2006

I have tried to watch the 2006 Macworld Keynote online. I am able to receive the video but cannot get any sound at all.
I am on Mac OS X 10.3.4 with the latest updates; Quicktime Pro 7.0.4 with automatic default settings. On the A/V controls the volume is on maximum.
I note others on the forum with various error display when accessing this but no one appears to be having a sound problem. I have check other streaming video and there is no audio difficulties.
    Can anyone advise?

Found this note on Mac Help in Finder...
"No sound from some applications, but system alert sounds play (Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4)"
    Solution
Open Audio MIDI Setup (/Applications/Utilities/), then check the Audio Output setting.
Change the Audio Output setting to 44100.0 Hz.
    Quit Audio MIDI Setup.

  • Cannot copy Steve Jobs' keynote onto iPod!

I managed to download the keynote (over an hour of video) onto my iTunes on my computer but when I tried to syn my iPod and transfer the video onto the iPod, there's an error message: "iPhone (i.e. the video) was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod." WHY?
And when I played the video on my iMac (iMac G5 with 1.6GHz CPU speed and 256MB memory), the video sometimes is not smooth. Is it because my iMac is too slow?
    iPodian

    iPodian,
First of all, what type of iPod do you have?
It will have to be a Fifth Generation iPod in order to play this, because no other types of iPods are capable of video playback.
Then, if you do have a Fifth Generation iPod, what format is the file in? Be sure that it is in a compatible format for your iPod (either .mp4, .m4v, or .mov format).
I'm not sure, but it's possible that what you said about your iMac's processing speed is true in this situation.
But, since that error message usually indicates that the video format or your type of iPod isnt compatible, I normally deal with those two main possibilities initially before delving further.

  • Playing video of Steve Jobs' keynote from yesterday -- won't start on iMac

I'm trying to play the video of the keynote from yesterday. When I click on it, it brings up a Quicktime window with the big Q in it. I hit the play button and nothing happens. Can someone help? Thanks. Lisa

I'm using QT V10.0, and it works fine. Which version are you using?

  • Download Steve Jobs Keynote

    Hello,
is there any way to download the keynote?
    Thanx

One of the features of using "Streaming Media" is that no "local" copy of the file is created.
Without a copy on the local machine no other files can be created from the "streamed" version.

  • Steve Jobs Keynote at Macworld January 10, 2006

Does anyone know if Apple will provide a link to watch this live? Thanks, Happy New Year!

Not live but you can watch it right after the event. It will be on under the quicktime section of apples web site.

  • Steve Jobs Speech

I was wondering if it was possible to download Steve Jobs' keynote speech from the "One More Thing..." event a week ago. I don't have a video iPod so footage of it does me little good but I think it would be cool to download the speech, as a podcast maybe.
    Thanks.
    $lafa

Apple used to make his speeches available as a download, but I think for the past couple years they have only been available as a stream. I'm sure there are ways to record a stream, but this is the wrong forum for that discussion. Try looking in the QuickTime discussions.

  • Steve Jobs' iMac Keynote Address Video

Is there an URL for the video of Steve Jobs unveiling the new iMac and iLife 08? I had seen it before but the link to the video is gone and is now replaced by the new iPod unveiling. I would really like to watch that video again.

    Try one of these!

  • ITunes Truncate Track Ending, Unsolved in 2+ Years: My Letter to Steve Jobs

I have posted this problem twice in this forum. Twice they were answered with something totally irrelevant, and then marked "Solved" and deleted.
Finally, I am going to mail the CD, and this letter to Steve Jobs, to let him know personally the bug, after so many years of iTunes, and the bullish way his stuff has been treating my questions.
    Dear Steve,
My name is Leping, Ph.D. in Physics, working in the San Francisco Bay area as a senior medical imaging scientist. I am a long time and loyal Mac user and promoter -- actually I have not yet really needed to use a PC in my life (except for serious music ripping -- see below), and in the graduate school days our five+ million dollar NMR lab was run from a Mac.
Unfortunately, I am also an avid classical music enthusiasts, and part time musician. Needless to say I am now with my 6th iPod, and I believe I understand all the bells and whistles of iTunes. I am not talking about the higher-level bit-wise accurate CD ripping, that is only available on the PCs, through the EAC software, since also, as a well-regarded and published photographer, I know when is the time to use the pro level applications, such as Adobe Photoshop instead of iPhoto. For my photography works please check out my website at http://www.lepingzha.com -- I will be more than glad if you and/or Apple have use of any of my images.
However, I know a long time iTunes bug, that have never been addressed. Actually I posted it twice to the Apple web discussion forums, but was twice offered irrelevant answers, followed by the subject flagged as "Solved", and subsequently deleted.
Please open the still sealed compact disc in this letter, which I got in a retailer just to show you the problem. The title, Deustsche Grammaphon (DG) B0003902, is "Lang Lang plays Rachmaninov Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 and Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini". It happens I am a Chinese American, but I want you to listen a bit into the disc not because I am a fan of Mr. Lang's playing -- as a matter of fact I actually not, but for the much more serious reason.
Please rip the Rhapsody in iTunes, to any format (AAC, Apple Lossless (ALAC), WAV, MP3...) starting from track number 4. A few tracks after that point would be adequate -- these are very short (10-30 seconds) tracks that truly highlight the problem. Listen to the resulting music, and the original CD, you will immediately hear the big problem, start right at the end of track 4 and at the end of every of these short tracks -- fraction of the ending second(s) are harshly chopped off, brutally truncated, and uncover-ably lost.
The same thing happens anywhere I use the Apple codecs, for example, converting the EAC (bit-wise correctly, as confirmed by its check-sum feature against the known sum database) ripped WAV files to ALAC or AAC, for instance, either on a Mac or a PC. The very same thing just happen, while there is no problem to any other non-Apple codecs (mainly to flavours of MP3 -- since Apple has the AAC and ALCA codec nobody bothered to write their own, I guess). So for our serious classical listeners, the iTunes and the Apple codecs are very problematic if not useless in many cases (operas immediately in my mind)!
Please alse not that, over the time the same problem has always been reported here, there, and basically everywhere, but every time there are gurus made comments which does not solve the issue. The followings are some recent examples.

I hope you, my much respected and praised Steve, realize, that, how could, and mostly unthinkable, after so many great years, there can be still such very basic and serious issue the iTunes codecs can not handle in the right way? Does the track length information get truncated somewhere (or floored to an integer)? Why it is so difficult to acknowledge such a basic issue, and to have it fixed in the next release?
Thanks for your time and hope you enjoy the music.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
    Best regards,
    Leping Zha, Ph.D.
    San Mateo, California, U.S.A.

Finally found the reason: in the track's option field for some reason the "stop time" flag is checked and the timing is always about a second earlier than the actual track length.
Searched Doug's scripts and there is nothing to batch reset, or unflag the "stop time" tag. Anyone has a better idea rather than trying to deselect the tag track by track?
Once the "stop time" is unset the converted tracks will play through without truncations at the end.

  • Choppy Playback of Jobs' Keynote

I tried to watch the playback of the most recent Keynote address by Steve Jobs and it was choppy as all heck. I also tried to view the new iPod commercial with the U2 video and that was also choppy. I upgraded to QT 7.0.3 but I had this problem since Tiger. I am running on a 500 Mhz iBook with 640 mb of RAM. I don't recall having this problem before upgrading to Tiger. I did test it with a QT video I had saved on my computer, and that played fine. It seems to be a problem with streaming videos. Anyone have any suggestions? I did a search here for help and found suggestions like changing Transport setting to httm and that did not help. Thanks.
    Thom

I have a Dual 1 Ghz G4 with a radeon 9800 XT card and 1.5 GB RAM and it puts my procs at 70-75%. Granted I can push them to 180% or so w/o skipping but I can't believe you guys get it to play at all. The new video standard and QT 7 in general eats the processor. Sorry. The streaming only has to do with your internet connection speed. Other h.264 videos on my machine run at 70% as well. So do .avi's. Oddly the VLC eats about 18% with those same files. Go figure. Outside of Apple's streaming stuff you might want to check out the other video alternatives.

You need a fast internet connection, typically 1Mbps or better. Fast ADSL, cable, etc, otherwise the optimum playback window is no bigger than a matchbox for streaming video. At 512kbps it will still be choppy at anything bigger than miniscule. If you've only got dial-up, forget it.
