Margin line in pdf (xsl fo)

hi
i want to make margin line for entire pdf page using xsl fo code can any one help

You have two questions here.
1. Can you have rotated text in PDF?
2. Is there an XSL-FO construct to produce that?
3.
three questions...
3. There must be a third question here about Java Programming somewhere.

  • Thin lines in pdf file

    Hi all!
I have a question. The same problem in Illustrator CS6 (but it appears from a few version of CS back).
I have document in an Illustrator. The document is generally for print, I don't using them to making website, so without using Slice tool.
I need have separation pdf so first I print the document to postrscript usind pdf ppd. Always the same settings:
    1. General - only media size
    2. Marks and Bleed - none (i mean all off)
    3. Output - mode: Separations (host-based), and rest like is: emulsion: Up, Image: Positive, Printer Resolution: 71lpi/600dpi
    4. Graphic - none
    5. Color Managment - none
    6. Advanced - none
    7. Summary - none
After printing I have a separation, pdf file. Always appears vertical and horizontal thin white lines, like document was preparing for website and sliced.
Why this happend? Can I use some settings to avoid this situation? I tried a various setting but the lines always appears.. Help!

It always was in a bitmap.

  • Numbered lines in pdf file

Converted Word file with numbered lines to pdf, but the numbers themselves did not convert. How do I add numbers to pdf lines?

Closely evaluate the authoring file's configuration. If an "auto-number" style prefix was used you may want to look that over. Regardless, with a correct configuration the numbers would be part of the content that goes to the PDF.
    Be well...

  • Setting margins for "Create PDF from Clipboard"

I'm posting this because I could not find another question that dealt with my problem directly, but after A LOT of searching, and a few failed attempts, I did find the solution.
Problem: When creating a PDF from content copied to the clipboard from a webpage, everything on the page was way off-center, with almost no left margin.
Once the PDF was created, since there is no easy way to adjust page margins, the only way to center everything would have been one page at a time (for 24 pages), by dragging the page contents manually to the center of the page. I tried using the "Set Page Boxes" function, but I ended up with 24 blank pages. Yes, I could export the PDF as a Word document, and then reprint that Word document as a PDF, but I knew there had to be a simpler way.
Solution: When you create a PDF from a clipboard containing text (or in the case of the above document, text and images), Acrobat uses the settings for "Create PDF from Web Page."
Unfortunately, if you look up Convert clipboard content to PDF in Acrobat Help, it doesn't tell you that. AND the settings for "Create PDF from Web Page" are NOT included in the list of settings under Preferences > Convert to PDF. There is an HTML option in that list, but there are no editable settings for that file type (There are actually quite a few such file types listed there, and my question is, if there are no editable settings, why are they even listed under Preferences?). Batch Conversion of Text Files also uses the same settings.
So, here's how to do it:
Select File > Create > PDF from Web Page
    Click on Settings
To adjust the default margins for new PDF files created from a clipboard containing text, select the Page Layout tab, and adjust the margins to your liking. Notice how small the Default right and left margins are... hence my problem.
Click on OK to save your new settings, and the simply Cancel out of the "Create PDF from Web Page" dialog box. If you read this page, it says you have to actually create at least one PDF file using the "Create PDF from Web Page" dialog in order for your settings to stick, but I never did, and my settings were saved just fine.
If you're copying basic text (or converting text files), that's all there is to it.
With web page content, there could still be a problem (as there was with this web page), if the content you've selected is not the full width of the web page. I think this has to do with the fact that web pages often use Content Style Sheets to format their page elements, and those styles are transferred when you copy that content to the clipboard. The PDF page margins are technically correct now, as you can see by the position of the image at the top of the page, but the text portion (at the bottom of the page) of the PDF only fills the same percentage of the text area (between the margins) as it did on the web page.
The only solution I have found if this happens, is to export the PDF as a Word document, and adjust the margins there. In the document I was working with in these examples, there were boatloads of different invisible subsections to the document, and each subsection had different settings for right and left indent, fonts, font sizes, etc., so there was a lot more to it than a simple 'copy & paste' type of procedure. Once I corrected all the different elements (and this one had a whole lot of weirdness going on), and then printed it as a new PDF, everything looked much better.
Hopefully this helps someone else find their answer much easier than I found mine
And of course, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for asking. Yes, with either the Crop tool or the Set Page Boxes tool, I could trim the page just fine, removing the excess from the right side, but as soon as I tried to add space to the left side, it just blanked out the whole page. It seemed like it should have worked, and maybe on a simple text file it would have. But that particular array of content proved to be most troublesome.
I also could have just cropped the page down to 6.5 x 11, and then centered it when I printed it.
My primary goal in searching for the answer, and my main reason for posting this, was for setting the margins for future documents (and to help others find those settings, too). Since I still had the web address, I could easily recreate the PDF once I figured out how to set the margins. Of course I didn't realize that there would still be problems once I got the settings right. Like I said, that particular web page seemed to have several unique difficulties.

  • How can I find the words which spans across end of line to next line in pdf ?

I am using Acrobat Adobe X Pro version for our form development and maintanence. I am writting a Acrobat JAVA batch script which reads through all the words and execute spell check and reports the mispelled words in a excel sheet. Since I am running this script in batch mode for more than 1000 pdfs - I am getting many words joined together. When I looked in to those pdfs all such words are looking okay because it is appearing in end of right margin and the next word is in the next line. Since there was no space between them it was extracted as a single word. Hence the failure.
I used wordf = this.getPageNthWordQuads(i,j)  to get the word begin and end coordinates. when I closely observe the values are creating a rectangle and that doesnt span across lines. I got the coordinates for the regular word and the word which span acoross two lines. both of the coordinates are same.
I think I am screwed - I have 8000 such words and no clue of how to get rid of them from the actual misspelled words.
please help. let me know if any class /method if I call will give me the end of line or do I need to go to next layer to find this split.
the addnot is somehow marking the words using this coordinates - please hellp me understand how this works. Thanks.

If Acrobat is reading each word part as separate words, you have a problem.
The way I approached it in some of my tools was to check if a word ends
with a hyphen, and if so, to check if it's the last on the line. If both
conditions are true, combine with the next word on the next line. This is
not fool proof, of course, as there are documents with columns are other
structural elements that prevent this from working. Better than nothing,
    though...
However, it is also possible that Acrobat does see both parts as parts of
the same word. In that case, getPageNthWordQuads() will return multiple
quads arrays. As you know, that method returns an array of quad arrays.
There's usually only one, but in principle there could be more... Something
    to check before giving up.

  • Carriage Returns / Line Breaks & PDF

I have a requirement to display a customers address in 1 column of a PDF report.
The address is stored in the RPD as Address1, Address2, etc. etc.
I use the answer of the question "Carriage Returns / Line Breaks" as a basic startup.
    ( Question Registered the 02/24/10 from user12673225 )
I get a great result in the HTML report.
But, when I print the report in PDF the HTML control codes appear in the PDF report.
    e.g.
    LTHEA A | P.O. BOX 877 *<br* | KY | VERNON A 100000479 |
    VERNON | /> GRAND...........|....|.............................|
    ...........| CAYMAN.............|....|.............................|
    ...........| KY1-1103 *<br*......|....|.............................|
    ...........| /> CAYMAN.........|....|.............................|
    ...........| ISLANDS.............|....|.............................|
Presently I generate the report in HTML then I convert it in PDF format.
Is there a way to print the report directly in PDF without the html control appearing in clear in the pdf file. Is is possible to do the job in one step only?

    Hi Will,
The [   instead of   <  does not work.
The character "[" is not recognized as an HTLM control code.
    It worth the try.
    Thanks

  • Can you add extra margins to a PDF?

    Hi,
I am curently in the process of printing my PhD thesis, which includes a range of published manuscripts in PDF format. To bind the thesis, each page needs a 2.5cm left margin. I was wondering if there is a way to add a 2.5cm margin to each page of my PDF documents? I also tried exporting them to a tifff file then copying and pasting to word and changing to the correct margins there, however I lose a lot of resolution doing that which affects the quality of the images. So I'd prefer to print the PDF directly with the altered margins if possble.
    Any help is greatly apreciated.
    Thanks!

You can by setting a custom page size. You'd do this by opening the Crop dialog and setting a custom page size in the Change Page Size area. Deselect the Center cehck box and set the XOffset to 2.5 cm. Set the width to the current width + 2.5 cm and set the height to the current height.

  • Thin lines in pdf file displayed on mac

    Hi,
I don't know if this is the right place to bring this up.  So redirection elsewhere is appreciated!
I've noticed a problem with displaying certain pdf files on a mac.  The files are 2D filled plots produced by the free scientific software Yorick (http://yorick.sourceforge.net/).  It happens when I view it in Preview or Powerpoint on a mac.  But not if I use a pdf viewer on a unix system.  The yorick source code for a simple example is below.  I can't find a way to attach files to this messages or I'd include the pdf's.  Is there a way to do this?
Both png's are fine, and the pdf of the pli plot is fine.  pli assumes uniform grid spacing, is fast, and must use different graphics primitives than plf, which does not assume uniform grids (i.e. you can have non-square elements).  In this case both x and y grids really are uniform.  The problem is with the pdf of the plf plot.  Look at it in Preview, you should see some thin lines.  Put it in powerpoint and the same.  If you put some solid colored box in back of it, you'll see the color.  So the lines are transparent or something.
David Munro, the creator of Yorick, suggests it's an issue with anti-aliasing.
Anyway, the problem isn't that severe in this example, but in others (which don't have simple source code) it's more annoying.
Either way, any advice on this, or the right people to report this to, is appreciated.
    Cheers,
    David
// 10dec10: bug of contour plots in pdf's having white lines on mac

    y=span(-2,2,30);

As I suspected, the problem is that the other viewers are not savvy enough to handle the "stitching problem".
What looks like a single image is really a WHOLE LOT of single squares.  I took a snapshot of the Edit Object tool in Acrobat with all the objects selected.  See <https://photos-3.dropbox.com/i/o/R6asqv64sEP1Tf7eIEBfNbFbMw0F7qKEaFwfnXQVKLo/1644474/12950 96400/0fa9181>.
As you can see from that, each square is a separate image that needs to be rendered and if the viewer doesn't understand how to proper stitch the pieces together then you will get empty pixels (which appears as white lines).
Either contact the author of the program that authored the document and see about getting that fixed (if it's not you) and/or contact the other viewers about improving their products.
