Margins ignored on OfficeJet Pro K550

I have a VB 2008 .NET program that I wrote.  It prints labels.  It works perfectly on my HP LaserJet 1018.  I set the margins depending on which label on the sheet I want to print and it prints on that label.  But on an HP OfficeJet Pro K550, it shifts the print down and to the right.  I tell it to have a 0.5" left margin and 0.6 top margin and I get 1" at the left and .75 " at the top.  The other two margins are correct and the resultant labelis the correct size, just shifted down and right.
Obviously this won't work because it doesn't print on the label!
I tried MS word 2003 and told it to print with 1/2" top and left margins and it worked.
So why does it work on the LaserJet and not the InkJet with the same margin settings?
Thanks.........  Carl

  • Unable to install officejet pro k550 in windows 7

Driver failed to install. Have also tried info from this page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02663702&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us and still cannot get printer to install. Either as a network or when connecting via USB. USB printing gets installed and is ready and working but not the printer driver. I am doing everything on the Win 7 laptop as an administrator. I've installed Dell, Lexmark and an HP Color LJ CP1215 with out any problem but not this officejet pro k550.

  • Ink low lights on the Officejet Pro K550

I have this officejet pro k550 in which some lights went on indicating I'm running low on ink in some of the color cartridges.  I replaced all the cartridges and the lights didn't go out.  Now I look at "utilites" (on my Mac computer) and it says that I'm running low of ink.  Do the lights automatically go out when you replace the ink cartridges or do I have to reset something?  How can I be out of ink when I'm using new HP cartridges?
    HELP PLEASE.

Did you find a solution? I have done the exact same thing and spent many hours trying to resolve this to no avail! Now I have 2 printers that won't work!!!

  • Officejet Pro K550 Driver Failure in 10.6.8 & 10.7.4

A coworker's HP Officejet Pro K550 has stopped printing.  Initially the error codes from the front panel indicated a paper jam.  After disassembly (which is NOT easy btw) and a complete cleaning, the printer still refuses to function.  I can print test pages all day long by holding the Resume button on the front panel of the printer.  However, once I send a page to the printer from Microsoft Word, Preview, or any other program, the printer seizes and both the Power and Resume button flash as if there is a  paper jam.  There is none as no paper comes out.  Curiously, if I use a Generic PCL Printer driver instead of the HP Officejet Pro K550 driver, I can print in black and white just fine.  I've tested this on laptops running 10.6.8 and 10.7.4 with the same results.  I've reset the printing system on both machines with the same results.  I'm officially out of ideas.  Can anyone think of what's going on?

    hi there,
i get the exactly same error,
i can also print by Generic PLC driver,
or output a config test page by holding power and pressing red X once on the printer.
but i always get "drucker ist belegt" which means "printer is in use" error when i try hps mac osx K550 10.7 driver !
everything works (hp utility tools to calibrate etc. stuff) except for printing from whatever application i use
what the hell is happening here? and how can i get full funtionality back?
i already have Firmware version 20061019 SPP0013H which seems like the only one i could download-
but, although i would possibly need this firmware update-
there is no way to install the firmware update,
since clever people of HP decided not to leave a tool for osx lion users,
the manual for doing firmware updates is only written for 10.4.8 users (maybe half a dozen years ago?!)
i cant find a update firmware option anywhere although i see a firmwareupdate.task plugin which seems to be for hp printer utility.... but i cant use it sensefully ....
what are you up to? making me crazy? making people buy new stuff?
is there any solution in sight?

  • Officejet Pro K550 in Windows Technical Preview

The most recent update to Windows Technical Preview Build 9879 keeps stopping the print spooler when the Officejet Pro K550 is attached. It worked fine in the previous builds. Any ideas? I need to keep the USB cable disconnected until I want to print and then uninstall the printer each time or keep restarting the print spooler each time I want to print anything.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Try running Windows Update and check if any driver update is available, any drivers for the Technical Preview are only available from Microsoft Update servers.
If the issue persists, you will need to wait till an update will become available by microsoft, as a beta OS you are likley to experience this kind of issues, devices hasn't have been tested much, as well as the entire operating system.

  • Officejet Pro K550 won't manually duplex

My Officejet K550 used to manually duplex. Now it prints all pages continuously, even though the "reload paper" window appears on the screen!
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, the latest version, with all updates.
Thanks, in advance, for any advice.

    Hi Linda,
I found some colleagues who had worked on that printer. There are some things to try, however it's not all good news.
The engineer believes the nozzles on the printhead may be clogged for one of 2 reasons. The first is that there is just some ink residue. Here's what he says: "Perhaps you can suggest the customer to try remove the printhead (just the printhead that has the cyan nozzles), and use a wet cloth or cotton swab to clean away the ink residue around the nozzles. Then replace the printhead, and perform the cleaning sequence that the manual says. This procedure might be able to recover some nozzle clog scenarios, but it will use up some ink."
However, it could be that air has gotten into the printhead: ". If the printhead is deprimed, it means air has got into a certain chamber after started up, that can never be purged out, causing ink not able to flow through anymore. For such cases, I think the printhead need to be replaced."
The engineer also talked with customer assurance, who believes this particular product is past its end of life, which means that it's technically older than Hp designed it to function. I know you've only had it 3 years, but wanted you to be aware of that.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro K550 - IP Printing

Primary issue: printer model does not show up on the "Print Using" list.
Detail: I have downloaded from HP, and installed correctly, the driver for the K550. In fact, if I simply plug the printer in directly via USB, it shows up, with the right driver, perfectly installed.
However, the printer is not intended to be installed via USB. It resides on a D-link print-server connected to my network. When I try to install the printer using the Printer Setup Utility, I select IP Printer and LPD. I enter the correct information regarding the IP address (192.168.1.200) and Queue. *However, in the "Print Using" drop-down list, the printer model (driver) that I know is installed does not appear in the list.*
How do I select the driver if it doesn't appear on the list? How do I get it to appear on the list?
    Thanks.

You have come accross the infamous CUPS driver problem. The network printing protocols in OS X including Windows Printing are provided by CUPS (common unix printing system). Hardly any non-postscript printer drivers (Brother is the exception) work "with" the CUPS system - they are Carbon drivers that bypass CUPS. You need a CUPS driver. I'm pretty sure your model is supported by hpijs, but you should check to be sure:

  • Adober reader X and windows 7 PC cannot print to HP Officejet Pro K550 printer

Any suggestions for getting PDF documents to print using the above?  Had exact same printer and same model HP PC printer working previously.  I connect this printer to my current PC and it prints everything except PDFs.  I am able to print PDFs to other printers.  I have relaoded printer drivers and Adobe reader.  Any suggestions?

    Same Here,
Windows 7 professional 64 Bit Adobe Acrobat Reader X
Can print everything else on K550 But No PDF.
Can print PDF's on  two other HP printers.
As stated No errors, Print never goes to printer que, just disappears ??
Funny used to print PDF before some Update ???
Was it Windows or Adobe  that broke the PDF printing??

  • I have a HP OfficeJet Pro K550 with a default static IP address and I can't access it to change it.

Because this printer's default static IP is not in my subnet and my network does not have a DHCP server I am unable to access the settings I need to change the IP address to one I can use.  I am using Windows 7 64-bit and am plugged into the printer via USB.  I know if I had an IP address from my network I could type it into the address bar and open up far more settings but I am unsure how to do that since the default IP is not on my network.

I assume you cannot log into the printer's subnet temporarily?  Can you disconnect the printer from that subnet temporarily?  Can you connect an Ethernet cable between the printer and your PC?

  • Hp officejet pro k550 will not print a test page using control keys on the printer.

How do I print a test page to ensure that this printer is still operational?
I have tried all instructions for clearing the printer of possible jams, removed and reinserted the print heads, and cleaned the rollers.  When pressing the appropriate keys on the front of the printer, it will not print a test page.  and no error lights appear.
The printer has been connected to a different computer and ceased working last summer.  The printer would not respond to commands from the computer nor would it respond to keys on the front of the printer itself.  I can get the printhead to move using the controls on the front of the printer, however.  The printer is not currently connected to any computer and the nearest computer does not have the appropriate drivers installed.  Originally the printer was connected to a Dell desktop running Windows XP (sp 3).

  • HP Officejet Pro K550 Not Powering On

When I press the power button on the printer, nothing happens.  The printer is plugged into an AC power outlet.  The power cord has been tested as well as the AC power outlet.  Power is coming to the printer but the power switch or something beyond the power switch is failing.  This printer has worked fine up until recently.  I need to know how to go about testing the printer from the power on switch to inside the printer itself.  The power cord is fine and I have determined that power is getting as far as the power switch.  Any problem to be resolved only exists from the power switch forward to inside the printer.
Is there a fuse that can be replaced?
The power cord has no inline adapter like most printers.  Therefore, the adapter, if one exists, must be inside the printer beyond the power on switch.
How do I go about taking the printer apart?  I am willing to do the work to determine what the problem is.  I understand electronics and can trouble shoot most issues.

  • Will only print the first line or so to a HP Officejet Pro K550

The Mac has been connected for a number of years to the printer, but suddenly it started to only print the top line or so of a text. The problem occurred later in the day having worked fine in the morning.
The self test for the printer works fine, producing a full test sheet, including all colours (and there is no indication that ink is running low).
It looks as if it is almost certainly a problem with the Mac itself, especially since the printer works with other, non-Mac - laptops.

    Jane,
Run Software Update and see if there are any new drivers available. If none appear then follow Apple's steps in Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system

  • HP OfficeJet Pro K550 not working after restoration

I have succesfully restored from a SuperDuper! backup. Everything is working, however I noticed that I cannot print. The HP software was installed and finds the printer, but when I click on print, it brings up the printer queue, and then stops it after 5 or so seconds.
I have removed the software and re-installed it countless times, even from a separate administrator account. When I remove it, it says that some files were shared and couldn't be deleted. No matter what I do it always says this. I've repaired permissions on the disk (for which it finds plenty that HP has mucked up), to no avail.
Has anyone else had similar problem with HP software?

I don't know what the **** was wrong with it, but I did a clean install of Tiger, and put back my backup DMG and it is now working. I just hope it doesn't break!

I am having problems with printing pages from all programs. They will start to print, then I get the flashing lights indicating a paper jam. I have ran all the tests/solutions suggested on the website with no success. Test pages print out fine, but actual documents will not finish printing. Any suggestions???
