Mark all clips from playhead/skimmer?

Hey all,
You FCP 7 users, you know the T tool (track tool), right? I used that for nearly all my edits. It very quickly selects everything from the point where you klick, down the whole timeline.
Did you find that function in FCP X? I mean, when I want to select everything from the point of my playhead, and move it a bit to the right, am I suppose to use the lasso and drag it over the whole time line, every time?

Hi,
you need to understand that FCE works only with specific standard video formats (video formats and frame rate and resolution)
FCE4 works only with DV, HDV and AVCHD. Last two using the Apple Intermediate Codec. AVCHD works only on Intel Mac based.
If your source material matches one of those, then you need to use the proper easy setup, matching your material.
Doing so, you won't have to render (except when using some filter, color correction, etc).
If your source material is not in one of the specified formats, you can often use Mpegstreamclip (www.squared5.com) to convert it into one of the supported formats.
Search on the forum for Mpegstreamclip: you will find tons of info about it.

How do I move all clips from an event into the edit line...

If I have an event of tons of clips that comprise an hour of footage, how can I select all of those clips at once from the event library and transfer them to the edit line above?
There is no Select All feature, that I can see, and it takes forever to highlight each chunk of clips, one at a time, and drag them up.
I'd like to drag the whole 1 hour's worth of clips in one event in my library up to the edit line at once.

I am trying to somehow "select all" clips, (not just all shots within a clip), but all 100 or so slips from an entire tape, from the first clip, to the last clip, and everything in between, and move them all up to the edit pane at once.
As it is now, I have to click on a thumbnail, select the entire clip, and move one clip at a time up to the edit pane.
I want to move all the clips up at once.

All clips from Canon 60D come out lagging

I just recently bought both a Canon 60D and Final Cut Pro X for my Macbook Pro. I have since tried repeatedly, in several ways, to upload my shot footage from that camera, and all of it lags and is choppy, at many points, having the frames dropped left and right.
I have tried:
1). Converting my .mov files to Apple ProRes
2). Changing the frame rate
3). Uploading the clips from their converted states off of a 1 TB hard drive into Final Cut
Among many others. The above methods didn't work.
I also tried editing the clips in Adobe Premiere... it lagged on there, too!
Two things though....
1). It DID play on iMovie just fine... along with Quicktime Player and a few other mediums that don't do what I want to do
2). Playback on the camera itself is smooth and clear just like I shot it.
HELP!! I've been trying to figure out my lagging issues for a week now. Help, PLEASE.

If they didn't play back smoothly with Pr or FCPX, I would wonder about hardware issues. Check to se that you have adequate free space on your system drive ~ 20% would be good. What are your system specs?
Also, here you're singling out the DSLR clips. How about HD footage from other sources?

Yes, there are other programs that will put a movie on a DVD. I have tried most of the other substitutes. None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40. (works with all Mac OS 10.5 and newer.)

All my clips are shot ona iphone, several ql1000 softbox lights with a green screen, nothing special, using the camera app.
I added photoshop layers nested, just some funny objects over the videos with transparent backgrounds.
And i also added mojo, keying effects and cropped some stuff

While working in iMovie, computer shut down and all imported clips from that project disappeared. The project still existed, with titles, but all video clips were gone from the movie as well as the computer library.

Clips were imported from SD card into iMovie project. While working on the project, computer shut down. When restarted, all clips from that event were no longer in the project, or in the computer library. Project existed, with titles, but blank spaces exist where clips had been.

OH MY GOD! This EXACT thing just happened to me! It didn't save my event and didn't show the date in the iMovie library but if I look under all projects, the project is there. Except that there are little blank place holders where all my clips were. Also the title of the project has a little yellow "!" symbol next to it which I can only assume means that the file is corrupted.
I can't believe it destroyed like 8 hours of work!

How to copy a clip from one event to another?

Hi all... I need some help please.
I have several events with multiple clips in them.
I want to create a new event. I would like to COPY multiple different clips to this new event. I don't want to move clips from the events they are in now.
I want to do this because I want to put together a movie with several clips that I want to consolidte from several events. But I don't want to move the clips, I want to copy them into a new event. So yes, basically have duplicate clips, but in two different events.
Is this possible? Please tell me it is

Here is my situation. I have an external hard drive with several years of events (2005-2011). I want to take several selected clips from those events to put on my internal hard drive. The clips I want to use for this video (a surprise video for bday too) I want to bring to a Newly created Single event on the hard drive. This way I have all clips I want to use to make this video in one location. I don't want to move them from the EHD.
This way I can work on the video without that EHD (on my MBP).
After I am done making the video, I'll likely delete this event with the duplicates. So it will take up hard drive space for only a few months. And it won't be tons of clips... just selected ones.

p.s. Wait, if I move them from an EHD to a new single event on IHD, will it move or copy them? Maybe it does copy them rather than move them? I don't know.
The other issue is I have all clips from 2012 on my IHD. I would like to copy some of those clips to this new event also. Again, so all clips being used in the video montage are in a single location. This will be for ease of making video since I will have all clips being used in one location/event.

Export clips from a sequence seperately with effects as a batch export in CS 5.5

Hi there,
I'd like to know if there is any possibility to export all clips from a sequence/timeline seperately with all applied effects as a batch export or similar in CS 5.5.
I know there is a chance to do that via the project manager, but a far as I know this way doesn't include the applied effects on each clip.

The only way to export a single clip with effects is to manually set up each individual export. This applies to all version of PP.

Trouble getting clips from XDCAM EX1 SXS Reader into APProCS4

I am having troubles with importing clips from Sony SXS reader to my APPro CS4. I was wondering if anyone could please tell me what I should do to solve this problem.
I have transferred all clips from Sony SXS reader(INPUT Files: .XML/.MP4 format) to Output Files ((.MXF format = .MPEGHD format) using clip browser s/ware to the desktop. So it's in the harddrive. So then I tried to grab the files(with file extension .MPEGHD to the Project window of CS4. Then it says under "XML Files" that "File import failure and the file format not supported.
I hope u all will explain things like to a amature, as I am not familier with this type of file conversion.

Using Clip Browser, copy everything on the SxS or KxS card to the hard disk. In PR import the complete BPAV directory and disregard any error messages. Do not import individual files.

All clips missing after import from camcorder!

All clips are missing after import from camcorder - Canon ZR20. For some tapes all clips are there, for others there are none. All the files are there in the finder, but I don't know how to have them show up in Final Cut Pro X.
Any suggestions?

Ok - this is frustrating. I have been importing my old miniDV tapes again into FCPX as I wasn't able to transfer all of these projects from iMovie - don't get me started... After importing about 7 of the tapes the first 3 came in fine, but the last 4 didn't have any clips as I said in my original posting. Now after restarting FCPX a couple of times all of a sudden the clips are all coming in! Strange! Guess I'm OK now.

I saw that there, but was hoping to remove just unsharp mask from all the clips but keep colour correction effects.

The Duration of Stills is set with Edit>Preferences to the number of Frames required, where ~ 30 Frames = 01 sec. of Duration.
Unfortunately, the Duration cannot be reset (Edit>Preferences) for material that has already been Imported. The procedure is to Delete those Imported Stills, and make the change, then re-Import them, and you will get the Duration that you have reset.
The only other option at this point is to manually Click-drag on the Head, or Tail of each Still in the Timeline, to adjust the Duration. I do this with the Info Panel open and visible to make it easier. Personally, unless I am well into the editing process, the Delete, change and re-Import option is my choice.

PS - the ability to alter the Duration en masse for Imported Stills in the Project Panel has just been added in PrPro CS5. I do not know if it has been added in PrE 9 though.

Your Comcast accounts are POP (unless you enrolled in the Comcat Beta test of Imap) so they won't sync at all. Either enroll in the Beta test or don't use Comcast.
Your iCloud account is Imap and should sync just fine, unless you have set it up incorrectly.

You can undo your permission changes. Probably the most relevant one is cookies. Try one or both of these methods:
(1) Page Info > Permissions tab
While viewing a page on the site:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Permissions
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Permissions
(2) about:permissions
In a new tab, type or paste '''about:permissions''' and press Enter. Allow a few moments for the list on the left to populate, as this information needs to be extracted from a database.
Then type or paste ''rcn''' in the search box above the list to filter it to the most relevant domains. When you highlight a domain, you can adjust its permissions in the right pane.
