Mark_Lenovo, is there going to be fingerprint sw/driver for Win 10?

How does that work?  You have to enter a pin each time you want to use the FP scanner?  --That can't be right...

This should be working.  What version of the driver is installed?  Look in Device Manager -> Biometric Devices -> Synaptics FP Sensors.  Then click on the Driver tab.  You need 4.5.3xx or later.  If instead you still have 4.5.2xx, then you need to upgrade it.  Click on the Update Driver button and then click on Search Automatically.  Windows should automatically download and install the 4.5.3xx driver that you need.
To get preboot authentication working, you may need to remove your existing fingerprints and then re-enroll them using Windows Hello in the Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-in Options screen.

  • HT6147 is there going to be a Security patch for 1st Generation iPads?

Is theis there going to be a Security patch for 1st Generation iPads? one has been released for all of the other devices.

Probably not for the recent problem because the code error didn't show up until iOS 6. Since the original iPad cannot run iOS any later than 5.1.1 there is no need for an update in this instance.

Is there going to be a firmware upgrade for mountain lion customers that have a Macbook with a soild state drive so we can use the Power Nap feature?

    here: http://www.apple.com/osx/whats-new/
"Power Nap requires a Mac notebook with built-in flash storage. May require a firmware update."
We have to wait for the Firmware-Updates. Some are already here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5394
And I am shure, that you will need for Power Nap one of the newer Macs with SSD from 2011 and 2012.

Is there going to be no more update for iPad 1 ?.

This is an iPad user to user forum, so we don't have any way of knowing what Apple will do. But probably, iOS 5.1.1 is the last update.

  • Is there going to be a new update for the iPad 1 because a lot of game requires iOS 6.0

There has to be a new update for the iPad 1

Probably not, except to fix security holes; any such updates will not allow the device to run applications which require iOS 6.

  • Is there going to be any major updates for the iPhone 5c

It's really annoying me because I was goin to get the iPhone 5s but I chose the 5c and there haven't been many updates to focus on the 5c but mostly for the 5c there should be a better layout like the 5s has a different. I know you people might want to read this or I might not ever be even recognised

What exactly are you talking about? iOS 7.1 is the same on a 5s as a 5c (with the exception of hardware specific functionality such as touch ID). The "layouts" are the same.

  • Is there going to be a coverflow update for our not so new ipods???????????

I really want coverflow on my ipod video i bought at the beginning of the summer, so bummed i never waited for the new ones coz coverflow rocks. Has any one heard about a firmware coming that gives us this update? ive tried googling but its only pre august stuff and speculations. Ive not even seen anyone ask this question yet.

Based on the fact when the late 2006 5th gen iPods (also called 5.5) were released with the new search feature, that feature was not made available to the earlier iPods, I would say that CoverFlow won't be available for existing iPods.
It hasn't been Apple's policy in the past to add new features like this to older iPods.
Ive not even seen anyone ask this question yet.
Then you haven't been looking in the right forums!

  • Validity Fingerprint Common Driver for Windows 10

Hi,This is a solution. You'll be able to use your fingerprint scanner through Windows Hello without any HP softwares (i didn't even try to use simplepass). I'm running Windows 10.Download and install:http://support.lenovo.com/in/hi/downloads/ds103635 I hope it works also for you

    Thanks for posting this..
The driver is working for me on an EliteBook 8570p, though i did have to foce it a bit...
I upgraded from a  Windows 7 install (not factory image) to Windows 10 and decided to try out the new build-in OS sensor support. On Win7 I didn't use it because it needed the HP tools installed and that was more bloat then i am comfortable with.. of course the problem is getting the drivers.. Windows seems to have installed a driver which  is over 2 years old and doesn't even seem compatible with the OS fingerprint API. I'm not entirely sure whether Win10 is using the same one as Win7, but in any case, driver update didn't find a newer one which was compatible with the OS fingerprint features.
I downloaded and installed the version Lucadebe posted ( Removed link for error in link ). (Note that the installer does seem to dissapear all of a sudden, this is normal i think, it just adds the driver to windows, it won't actually update the device.)
I restarted, but unlike for the other people that wasn't enough in my case. The reason for this was that the posted driver does not actually list the VFS491 as a compatible sensor..
So basically i had 2 options:
       1. use the driver (from lenovo) posted by the thread creator which is certified as Win10 compatible, but doesn't officially support my sensor.
       2. use an older (but still relatively recent; a few months old) driver (from lenovo) which does support my sensor, but isn't certified as Win10 compatible. There are several versions to chose from here, although NONE from HP..
The first driver does list the newer VFS495 sensor (mine is VFS491), so i figured i'd force it and see if it works, rather than use a slightly older driver (also from Lenovo) not listed as Win10 compatible.
I went into device manager and opened the properties for the biometric sensor. On the driver tab i selected 'Update driver' -> 'Browse local dirvers' -> 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'.
Next, because the new driver doesn't actually list my sensor as compatible, i had to uncheck 'Show compatible hardware'.
If you are using the HP provided driver it will by default have a driver selected from manufacturere 'Validity Sensors, Inc.'. They were acquired by Synaptics, so the new driver will be available under 'Synaptics FP Sensors'. I actually installed a number of newer drivers, but the one posted above should be listed as 'Synaptics FP Sensors (WBF) (PID=003d)'. Select it and click next to install..
After installing the newer driver, opening the Sign In options screen suddenly showed an additional header "Windows Hello" with a button to add a fingerprint...
So far, working like a charm.
@PeerOne: I would get the driver from the HP site with the right driver match... IF HP actually bothered providing driver updates. As it is, the only recent drivers for the VFS491 are available through lenovo.  I have the HP Softpaq manager installed.. while the application itself got an update for Win10, the only 'driver' still being updated through it is the BIOS. Everything else is ancient...
I find that especially dissapointing because these are generic drivers provided by Synaptics.. the OEMs simply have to repackage them.. but even that's too much of an effort it would seem.
Also, considering windows 7 can upgrade itself to windows 10 in place, there are going to be a lot of people who will need win10 compatible drivers..
It saddens my that we have to rely on another manufacturer to provide us with drivers for HP products... Lenovo is still providing drivers for laptops that are older than mine, even drivers for newer operating systems..
Will definitely have to consider this when we have to replace our current laptops..
