Gif file won't animate in Muse's preview mode or in Muse's view in browser mode

Created a gif file with Photoshop that's 7.5MB in size. Placed the gif file on a Muse page. But, the gif won't animate in Muse's preview mode or when Muse sends the page to be viewed in browser mode. I'm using a Mac running OS X 10.9.2 and I'm a creative cloud member using Muse. Any solutions?

Step one to enable the community to help debug what you're encountering would be to provide the URL for the page where the GIF is being used. My first guess would be there are effects applied to the image (i.e. inner glow, bevel, etc.) that require Muse to re-encode the image and Muse does not support encoding animated .gif. It only supports passing animated .gif files through unchanged. (And to get an image to pass through unchanged it needs to have no effects that require rasterization applied in Muse.)
Given you've stated the GIF file is 7.5Mb I have to question your choice of .gif. At 7.5Mb this single file will take ~8 seconds to download on the average US broadband connection and will be much slower for many broadband users and most cellular users. GIF is a reasonable choice for very small short animations used sparingly, but is seldom (if ever) a good choice for larger or longer animations. Better choices for those are to use a video or a tool like Edge Animate to create a HTML5/CSS3 animation. The end result will be vastly more user friendly in terms of page load performance.
A huge percentage of first time visitors to a webpage will cancel the page load rather than waiting 8+ seconds for the page load to complete.

Where is "Tools Resize" feature in Internet Explorer 11 (F12 Developer Tools)?

Please tell me I'm missing something...
In previous versions of the F12 Developer Tools for Internet Explorer, I could easily resize the browser window to a specific size (e.g. 1024x768).
However, after upgrading to IE11, I cannot find this feature.

you can create full resolution screen shots and scale them in your web pages by using only the width rule of 100% to the containing block element.

I use ifranview to capture screen shots and resize and compress the image to my requirements.
If latency or client screen size is an issue I will create two images... a thumbnail and a full screen image and use the design pattern above to link to the full resolution image in a new window.
or for HTML5/CSS 3 aware browsers use the CSS flexGrid with media queries.

thanks for that reply, after doing that I can not select this DD-view from sql-prompt anymore (which I don't wonder ;-). Can you tell me, what idea you had behind that test ?
I found another instance, where the procedure works and I will compare those privileges, but it's hard to sort out that complex structure of nested roles and sys_privs.
How ever, I will update here, when I found the missing privilege.

For option: "install new versions automatically", we can simply prevent it via GPO or registry (the registry entry can also be deployed via GPO)

Why is httpwebrequest result different from page source viewed through browser?

I am trying to use httpwebrequest to download the page source code from Yahoo Finance pages, e.g., https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/q/op?s=AA&m=2015-04
The httpwebrequest method returns much less information than the page returned by using "page source " in Firefox. How can I use visual basic to return the full page of data?

It is most likely because the page is executing some java script to obtain the additional content, or there are additional links which need to be traversed.
But it doesn't really matter because you are not allowed to build a program that scrapes a Yahoo website. When you use their services you agree to their terms, and within their terms it states "You agree not to access the Yahoo Services by any
means other than through the interface that is provided by Yahoo for use in accessing the Yahoo Services."
This is common for most major websites. If the website wants to provide programmatic access to its content, then it will provide an official API for that purpose. You may wish to review their
Developer Network and see if there are any options for programmatic access to their financial data.

Can't access weblogic server from internet but can from intranet

Hopefully this isn't the wrong place to post but I've searched through many many
newsgroups to figure out where to post this but can't find a specific enough one.
I've recently run into a problem with my weblogic server in that it can not be
accessed from the internet now. This was all working several weeks ago, when
I had the wl server listening for SSL communications on port 7002. I could access
the server from both within our corporate intranet (kind of) as well as access
it from the internet. I say kind of for the intranet in that when I chose to
setup SSL on the the wl server, I couldn't get port 7002 to communicate through
our proxy server. After a little research I determined that it would be best
to communicate on the default SSL port of 443. After switching to 443, I didn't
need to bypass the proxy any longer, when accessing from within intranet, but
now couldn't access the server from the internet. The wl server is behind a firewall,
but I had the network administrators open up port 443 on the firewall. They ran
a network sniffer and determined that the wl server is sending a TCP FIN packet
immediately following the last ACK packet in a TCP session establishment. I don't
really understand what that all means, but it seems really strange that everything
works great when inside the intranet and I don't get any TCP FIN packets sent
from the server, but when you try to communcate through the firewall you do.
Does anyone have any insight into this issue? something else I could look at.
The network administrators are basically saying it's the webserver that needs
configuration (even though it worked great in the past when listening on port
7002 instead of 443). PLEASE HELP!!!

No events from CWDataSocket. Viewing from ActiveX Container Tool

Using Labview 6.1 on Windows 2000. Exploring ways our C++ program can get and set values into a VI. Was looking at the CWDataSocket ActiveX Control in the VC++ ActiveX Test Container Tool and was trying to get it to fire events.
I set both a VI control and The URL in CWDataSocket Control to "dstp://localhost/clay". The DataSocketServer window received my connection, but when I changed the variable in the VI, I couldn't see any events (Expecting OnUpdatedData()).
I'd like the events to fire so I don't have to poll.
The VI control was set to "Publish", and for accessMode on my CWDataSocket I tried both the read and the readAutoUpdate settings.
Ultimately I would like to map many variables from a C++ stru
cture in a shared memory (Map File) to values of controls in VI. If there is a better way to do this than datasockets (like DDE) I am very open to suggestions.

I have never done it from outisde of LabVIEW but ActiveX maybe the ticket.
LabVIEW serves upits front panel controls and indicators. You may be able to get at them as variants by reading from;
LabVIEW>>>FrontPanel>>>Controls
will return an array of ActiveX references to all of the Controls and indicators.
Read the "Label" Property of of each of these refferences to get the name of each control. Search through this list for the control or indicator you wnat to access. Then you can use the property node called "Value" to get the value you are after as a variant.
I have never done this thing myself in C++ but I was able you look at the VBA examples to use navigate PowerPoint from LabVIEW, so in theory you should be able to do the
same thing backwards.

Macbook air keeps disconnecting from internet when going to sleep mode

New macbook air keeps losing Internet connection when going into sleep mode. Have tried deleting and re adding network and adding DNS 8.8.8.8 still is disconnecting.

It did merge them after a fashion, glad I took a backup first even if I did only perhaps create 3 or 4 bookmarks today. So if I have bookmark separators, it's going to figure out which group to put them in (no way). Anyway I thought they would just go down to the bottom of the bookmarks menu like the other method, like when I export and import bookmarks in Firefox where they do go to the end of the Bookmarks Menu folder and would simply delete one folder.
Anyway this would not be typical because I don't want any bookmarks from IE.

Private Browsing mode sometimes doesn't remember cookie info when opening links in new tabs

Also, when in Private Browsing mode, and I go to view the cookies in Options -> Privacy, I can see the cookies from the normal non-private browsing mode. All of them. It's not a fresh, clear, list like it should be.
I don't think any info is being read or recorded between the two sessions types, though. Just that sometimes, when opening a link in a new tab or window, it forgets the cookie information. Again, this is in Private Browsing mode.
I never had this problem until I upgraded to Firefox 19.

Any progress or additional information yet?
I also can see all of my "normal" cookies after switching to private browsing. (I remember that in the past I would see only a "blank" window when first switching to private mode.)

Ovi Suite 2.0 no photo view in grid mode

Hi I have the latest Ovi Suit and I am connecting my 5800 music express. Once the photoes are synched with my computer only a small version of the actual images is imported (3KB per image). I am sure that the version on the phone is about 550KB in size. Also when I come to view the images in view thumbnails no preview is avalable of the images. The low res picture comes visible only in vew single photo mode.
Is this a software bug or do I have some wrong settings ?

Sorry for this mess. There was a bug in the photo import from some devices that has now been fixed but the damage done by those faulty imports does not correct itself in the database.
The safest way to re-import the photos is to do it manually, that way you will know what has changed.
Open Ovi Suite and connect your device (preferably with USB, BT also works but it will take longer).
Go to the photos view and check from the device view (select from lower left pane titled "Photos in <device name>" the "All" folder) that your images are visible there.
For each image you want to restore, go to the PC view (select from upper left pane titled "Photos" the "All" folder) and find the corresponding image on the PC. If you can't see thumbnails for the images on the PC then you will have to find the correct thumbnail by checking the filenames that appear on mouse roll-over or by left-clicking and selecting "Properties".
Delete the image from the PC view (press DEL key, left-click and selecte "Delete" or drag and drop to the "Deleted photos" folder). Note that this doesn't actually delete anything, it just prevents the image being shown in Ovi Suite.
Select the "Deleted photos" folder from the upper left pane
Select the image you just deleted and delete it again. Be sure to choose "Yes" when asked if you want to delete the file from the computer.
Now you can manually import the image from the phone.
Select the photo from the device view (from lower left pane titled "Photos in <device name>", "All" folder)
Drag and drop the image on the "All" folder of the PC navigation pane (upper left pane)
You should see a progress bar for the import and the thumbnail and correct image should then be available in the PC.
Once you get the idea of what to do you can also use multi-select (Ctrl-click) to delete and re-import serveral images at a time.

I have purchased kindle ebook to read from iPad. Told private browsing mode needs to be turned off. How is that done?

There is not a setting for turning on & off private browsing in Firefox mobile.

I could be wrong so let me do some more digging and see if there is a easier way.

Firefox does not display my customised Adobe Air browser based skin when viewed from a server

Hi,
I have edited the skin for my Adobe Air Browser based help. It appears fine in Explorer and Chrome, but Firefox displays the default black Air skin when viewed from a server.
However, it appears OK when viewed locally on my machine in Firefox?
Does anyone know why this is or if there is a way to make my customised skin display when viewed from a server using the Firefox browser?
