Mark-UP Features

Are there mark-up features available for Adobe Reader 9 - specifically the pencil and textbox tools, or are these in a version of reader that is not free?
If these upgrades are available for the free Adobe Reader 9, where might I go to download them and install?

  • Flash Builder 4 Beta Annoying - Keep imports organized - default feature - fix

    I Began using Adobe's Flash Builder 4 Beta and started coding Actionscript code; I imported classes and at time intervals, Flash Builder 4 beta deleted my unused imported classes. It was really annoying since I imported all of the classes I need in the project. I think that the Flash Builder 4 should have this option turned off by default. I searched around the internet and found this to fix it. GO TO: Window -> Preferences -> Flash Builder -> Editors -> Actionscript Code. Uncheck "keep imports organized". See the image below. Hope it helps someone.

    That is the "Mark Occurances" feature. Click into the editor window, then on your toolbar you should see the "Mark Occurances" button, looks like the tip of a yellow highlighter. Toggle it off and that goes away. Obviously something some folks like on, others hate, but since you can toggle it shouldn't be a big deal.

  • PSE 11 crashes using 'Mark Face'

    I am using PSE 11 on Win 7 x64.  The catalog is newly repaired and optimized.  Using the 'Mark Face' feature in the organizer causes PSE to crash immediately after clicking the green check mark to accept the entered tag.  I have used the 'Mark Face' tagging feature before without problems.  What possible root cause is there and how can I repair it?  Thank you for positive feedback.

    I found the problem NOT to be related to the catalog at all.  I store all my images on network-attached storage device.  In order to access them the same way from two systems, I have stored the catalog also on the network.  I have PSE11 loaded on both systems.  One is used as an media entertainment system with our home theater and we use it to view photos and videos only.  The other is used to manage the photo and video library, edit images and files and so on.
    This setup has worked fine since the I installed PSE11.  Then I performed a full backup with PSE11 for the first time and encountered the crash problem.  It occurs when I manually tag people in images using the 'Mark Face' feature.  It does not, however, crash when the Organizer adds the virtual people tagging frame showing "Who is this?".  I can enter the tag name just fine without any problems.
    In talking to support, I found that "BreezeDB.dll" is used for the manual tagging process while another module is used when the Organizer creates the virtual frame.  I was informed that "BreezeDB.dll" requires certain network access rights in order to function correctly.  It was hinted that PSE does not work well on the network and some unpredictable behavior could occur.  Why the other module does not exhibit the same issue was not explained.  Also, the module "BreezeDB.dll" enjoys maximum access rights on the network.  There was also no explanation given why the installation configuration worked without a hitch prior the the backup.
    I moved the catalog to a location on the local system and the feature works without problems.  Although that is operationally satisfactory, it does not allow me to view photos in my home theater using PSE11.  I acknowledge the problem to be with the module "BreezeDB.dll".  But I am not convinced it is caused by rights issues.  Unfortunately, Adobe has a very poor track record with making its application functional and stable for network operation.
    I took issue with the quality of initial support provided.  Adobe's first response to almost all problems seems to always conclude a "Corrupt catalog/database".  The resulting recommend course of action is the creation of a new catalog and re-importing of all images.  It simply astounds me that this is considered acceptable provided that some users have thousands of images in their catalog with tag, album, keyword, version stacks and other information not written to file.  None of the users have created such catalogs overnight, most of them have developed over years.
    I wish Adobe would perhaps forego some "sexy & new" features and instead aspire to a trully stable platform that is universally functional across modern installation configurations.  They must have noticed the explosion of home network installations (wired & WiFi) in the last 10 years.  Overall I like the product (with all its little quirks) and the company.  But I am growing increasinly concerned with every release that the effort I am putting in managing my media (and its growth) is not protected.  I don't think Adobe is rewarding my decade-long loyalty to the product (they know who I am and that I have registered a new product every year).  I don't believe Adobe has my back.

    Is there a way to mark multiple emails/contacts and delete without having to go to options and mark them one by one? My E71 used to be holding shift and select, but the 5230 has no shift button. What can I do??

  • How to get your contacts to your new phone

    These days, most of us live ane die by our mobile phones - our personal and business lives revolve around them; and yet technology moves so fast that our phones become outdated and are replaced so quickly. Luckily, the days when buying a new phone means that you have to laboriously re-enter all of your precious contact numbers are long gone.
    There are a number of different ways that you can transfer contacts between your old and your new phone, including:
    1. SIM CARD
    The original and simplest way to port your contacts is via the SIM card. This system sells itself on the ease of use and the fact that it guarantees universal compatibility, but this simplicity also brings with it the inflexibility - the SIM card can hold just one name and one number per contact, and a typical limit the number of contacts it 250, so it is rapidly ending its tenure as a medium for the storage and transfer of contact information.
    Advantages: Ultimate cross-device compatibility
    Disadvantages: Limited capacity
    2. BUSINESS CARDS VIA BLUETOOTH
    Bluetooth connectivity allows data to be relayed between two phones within a range of about ten metres. All Bluetooth-enabled phones can send and receive contacts as vCard files, which allows you to transfer a complete contact to another phone with ease. Using the "Mark/Unmark" feature of your Nokia device, you can also send a batch of contacts at once - the phone still makes a separate transfer per contact, but provided the two devices are paired and set to automatically accept transmissions from each other, you can set things in motion and put the kettle on whilst the phones do most of the hard work - it's as easy as Options>Send business card>Via Bluetooth. The down side is that the vCards go into the Received Files folder of an S40 phone or the Messaging inbox of a Symbian smartphone, you will need to individually save each contact transferred to your address book, so it still isn't an ideal solution for large numbers of contacts.
    Advantages: Quick and easy, wide compatibility, all contact information can be transferred
    Disadvantages: Still laborious in the case of large numbers of contacts, bulk sending may not work correctly from a different brand of phone.
    3. DEVICE-TO-DEVICE SYNC
    Many Nokia phones have a Synchronisation or Switch feature which allows you to transfer personal data such as contacts between compatible devices. This is an effective method to transfer data, but unfortunately different versions used in different phones (depending on age and OS) mean that even two different Nokia devices might not be compatible for this method.
    Advantages: Easy to use and almost entirely automatic
    Disadvantages: Not a reliable cross-platform method
    4. SERVER SYNCHRONISATION
    A growing feature of the mobile internet is the ability to transfer your phone's personal data with a remote server, which is not necessarily the ideal way to transfer between devices but gives the added functionality that you can recover your data wherever you are in the world as long as you have internet access through your phone, so if you lose your data (or even your entire phone) on a business trip abroad, you don't have to wait to get home to recover it. An example of a server synchronisation service can be found at www.ovi.com
    Avantages: Remote storage of data means you can use anywhere
    Disadvantages: System still in its infancy for personal consumers
    5. PC SYNCHRONISATION
    Using Nokia PC Suite, N-Series PC Sutie or Ovi Suite you can synchronise your PIM (Personal Information Management) data with your PC (Outlook, Outlook Express, Vista Contacts, Lotus Notes etc.), allowing it to be subsequently transferred to another Nokia device. For Mac users, there is Apple's iSync software which does the same thing, though whilst it makes transfer between different brands of phone possible it does not guarantee compatibility with all phones from any manufacturer.
    Advantages: Any PC-connectivity-enabled Nokia phone is compatibile (PC only), cross-brand support (Mac only)
    Disadvantages: Synchronisation software not always reliable
    6. CONTENT COPIER
    Using Nokia Content Copier from any of the three PC Suites mentioned above, you can copy all or a selection of personal data from your phone into a backup file that can be restored to your phone after a repair or update, or transferred to another compatible phone. This gives ultimate protection as almost all of your phone contents can be saved, but the big downside is that this method is no use to you if you are coming to Nokia from another brand. Wise users back up their phones with Content Copier regularly to ensure that nothing is lost if the phone is lost, stolen or broken. Me, I remember to do it now and again
    Advantages: All data can be backed up, and most data can be restored to most Nokia phones
    Disadvantages: All of the big manufacturers have their own version, but they are not inter-compatible

  • "send for shared review" cannot connect to server

    I'm trying use the "Send for Shared Review" feature in Acrobat 9. I want to send a pdf document to acrobat.com and share with others for review and comment. I first used this feature about 2 months ago and it worked without a hitch.
    Every time I try it by clicking in the menu "Send for Shared Review", I'm asked for my user name and password to connect to Acrobat.com. I type it in (I know it's correct because I can go to acrobat.com using my browser and the password works), the Acrobat.com dialog box comes up telling me it "can't connect to server." It has my correct log in information. If I use my browser to go to acrobat.com, I can log in fine, but then of course I can't get the mark-up feature for my shared pdf files. Any ideas what I can do to troubleshoot? I'm at a loss.
    I'm using Acrobat 9 and Mac OS 10.5.8

  • Scripting Selective XML into a Single Text Frame? (& Some Other Stuff...)

    Hi all, I could use some help (using version CS5.5).
    I want to import (via Javascript) an XML file similar to this:

    </movieRoot>
    I've been able to successfully do this, so no problem there.
    Then I want to dump the child elements under the XML element "<dvds>" into a single text frame that spans 2 columns per page. That's easy enough too, except:
    1) I want to filter the data so that empty elements or whose contents equal "NOTHING" do not appear.
    2) I want to add static text title above some of the elements that remain (outside the XML proper).
    3) Then I want to format the text (using Paragraph Styles).
    Tall order, I know, but I'm keen on figuring it out. I initially created a document using placeholders and used the standard XML Import to populate it with data, which was filtered using scripts to remove extraneous placeholders and static text. It gave me the result I wanted, but as the XML will be regularly updated and since the "filtered" tags result in non-standard XML entries, it means starting over from scratch after every XML update. So I turned to scripting...
    For point #1, I was able to filter properly using a recursive IF statement, tested here using message alerts:

    It worked great until I tried to get it into an existing text frame. Since I want all the info in one text frame, placexml was out of the question, and markup worked but overwrote XML tags -- such as assigning the entire text frame to <movie/title> when I wanted it assigned to <dvds> with <movie/title> tags nested within it.
    If you can help me with anything, this is really where I need pointed in the right direction most. But if you're feeling generous or bored...
    Then for points #2 and #3, I want to take what's left ("filtered" XML data) and add additional text and formatting wherever certain tags are found.
    For example, applying the paragraph style "MovieTitles" for any text within <title></title> XML tags; or adding the phrase "Special Features" (with paragraph style "Headers") above any text marked with <features> tags, while the content within those <features> tags applies the paragraph style "NormalText."
    I've got some of this worked out in pieces already, but it generally falls apart because I can't get the tag structure correct in the text frame. I can provide more info as requested. Any help would be mighty appreciated!
    UPDATE: Surprisingly, I've actually had some good success this evening on solving most of these problems. I'll post my results once I've finished up just in case anyone else can be helped by what I've learned.
    One question remains for the moment: I've inserted text within an XML element, but outside of XML tags (e.g., </title>EDITION:<edition>) using "insertTextAsContent":

    Does anyone know a good way to apply a paragraph style to that text without using a find & replace function later (after placing the XML into a text frame)?

    Yes, each record will be in its own frame.
    You can use one of a couple solutions to stitch (link) each frame to the other, delete all but the first page and the first merged record, then resize that first merge frame and reflow the entire document.

    Please review this thread. There is a couple posts with a script and you would want the last version of that script. You would have to follow the directions, as well as add a column at the beginning of your data and fill it with consecutive numbers.
    Alternatively, there is a free plug-in by Rohiko for stitching merge data frames together, then follow the process above to reflow the document.

    Although the answer is going to be the same, I would prefer to know what version of Premiere Elements is involved and on what computer operating system it is running in order to get version specific when necessary without requesting the information later than sooner.

    The idea is that whenever the Blu-Ray comes up, it always shows the beginning 25-second sequence, then always goes to a menu that says "Play Movie" and "Scene Menu" or something to that effect
    Stop markers do not function in the playback of Premiere Elements (any version) Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc. They do in the playback of Premiere Elements (any version) DVD-VIDEO format on a DVD disc.
    You would have to find another video editor for that purpose or export your Premiere Elements Timeline to a file saved to the computer hard drive and then taken into another program for menu creation (with a stop marker like feature) and burn to disc there. You would need to determine ahead of time what formats the other program support.
    Blu-ray burn to project
    If you have 9 scenes and place scene markers for each
    a. the viewer can select any one of the scenes from the scene selection page
    b. with or without stop markers, it will be the same at playback of the Blu-ray disc, example
    if the viewer selects scene 5 from the scene selection page, playback will be scenes 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 with automatic
    return to the main menu
    if the viewer selects scene 1 from the scene selection page, playback will be scenes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 with automatic
    return to the main menu

  • Menus in Premiere Elements 12

    Previously, I have used Adobe Encore CS3 to add videos to the  menu.  In Encore you can add as many separate videos as you want to the menu.  You can play them separately.  I do not see this feature in Premiere Elements 12.

    Are you referring to Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc and AVCHD on DVD disc, or DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc?
    Hope I am interpreting you question correctly....
    If you have more than one movie on the Timeline and want to navigate through them in a menu after burn to, Timeline markers, including stop markers, need to be placed on the Timeline at the indicated locations. Stop markers are an essential part of this type of workflow.
    HOWEVER, stop markers in the Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc or AVCHD on DVD are not recognized by the players. Stop markers function for this kind of workflow for DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc.
    If your question does go to Blu-ray and AVCHD described above, then, if you want to keep Premiere Elements in the workflow and achieve you menu navigating goals, you would have to export your Premiere Elements Timeline content to a file and then import that file into a 3rd party software for menus (which support a stop marker or stop marker like feature) and burn to disc.

  • Is there a capability for COMMENTS in FM7?

    Hi, everyone:
    Sorry if this is super-basic, but I'm returning to FrameMaker for the first time in something like three years.
    Is there a way to add Word-like "Comments" to an FM7 document, for the author's own use in reviewing, for reminders of issues to question, etc.?
    I've identified the option Special > Marker > Comment, and have used the Comment dropdown selection, and entered the text of my question/reminder to myself. I'm guessing I may have succeeded in adding something to the document.
    But for the life of me, I can't see the thing, the way you would with Comments turned on via Review > Comments (Markup and all that) in Word.
    About the only options I could think of were turning on Text Symbols, and viewing the Master and Reference pages. I knew these were all likely not to be it, and apparently, they're not.
    Am I thinking about this Marker > Comment feature all wrong? Is it merely something that can be made to appear in a list produced upon publishing?
    If Marker > Comment isn't what I want it to be, then back to my original question:
    Is there a way to add Word-like "Comments" to a FM7 document, for the author's own use in reviewing, for reminders of issues to question, etc.?

    I get the uneasy feeling I never saw your answer, much less replied and expressed thanks. I apologize. I remember getting another suggestion, that I don't think was yours. I felt like I was too harried at the time to experiment, and am simililarly harried now. However, my need to use some sort of commenting capabilty has grown, and I'm going to try this.
    I find myself collaborating with determined non-users of Framemaker, and so FM9's capability for import of PDF Comments may come into play, IF I can sell FM9 to my bosses.
    In any event, I am working with FM7 for the time being, and thank you once again for your suggestion.

  • "can't connect to server" in Acrobat 9

    I'm trying use the "Send for Shared Review" feature in Acrobat 9. Every time I try, the Acrobat.com dialog box comes up telling me it "can't connect to server." It has my correct log in information. If I use my browser to go to acrobat.com, I can log in fine, but then of course I can't get the mark-up feature for my shared pdf files. I used this feature in Acrobat about a month ago with no problem. Any ideas what I can do to troubleshoot?

    Any suggestions ?

    Following the below steps and it will be fixed( a bit lengthy procedure but it will work):
    1)Using the "mark all" feature mark all contacts, in this the blank ones will get selected too,unselect them one by one,so now you should have only the non blank contacts marked.
    2)Copy these to the memory card and if you are prompted with deleting the contacts you have on memory card already, then do so ,as we need to have only the non blank marked contacts copy to restore from the memory card.
    3)now comes the tricky part as you wont be able to delete all contacts from the phone because of the blank ones.
    so we will need to format the phone.but before that keep in mind that we need to have another backup medium preferably nokia pc suite to backup the rest of the data except contacts as contacts we will get back from memory card  later.So backup your phone using nokia pc suite on a computer using data cable but remember to NOT SELECT contacts while backing up.
    4) now hard format your phone.For that :
    a)switch off your phone.
    b) switch it on keeping the green dial key,(*) key and the (3 ) key pressed together till you see the nokia screensaver.
    c) this will format your phone(not memory card).
    5)now u will see there will be no contacts, so restore contacts from memory card.you can check the problem will be fixed now as you can select contact now and forward send messages etc.
    6)Last for the rest of the data restore it using nokia pc suite, as you already did not select contact while backing up,so it shud not matter if u select it or not while restoring,but for precaution dont select contacts while restoring from your backup.
    You are done!

  • "Cut" an element out of XML?

    Folks,
    Please does anyone know a shortcut to "snip out" XML elements as serialized XML?
    The scenario is: We're SAX parsing a potentially very large (I guess upto maybe 200 MB) XML document. The data ("features") therein will be edited by the user in a third party GIS application... and then I need to quickly detect which "feature" elements have changed.
    I need to turn the modified features back into XML and send them back to the server, which updates the database. Currently the users have to manually mark which features have been modified and which have been deleted... a process which is subject to human error (and there have been some doozies, apparently).
    So... I'm trying to knutt-out a practical way to detect: "Has this feature been modified (or deleted).
    My thought was to calculate a hash (SHA1, MD5, or maybe just CRC32) of the serialized XML which represents the feature (both geometry and attributes) before and after... if they're different the feature has been modified. If the feature (identified by a unique id) is missing from the after shot then obviously it's been deleted.
    So... My question is: does anybody know a cheats way to get the XML-string for an element from a SAX parser? Note that I can't use a DOM (even for one feature) because the largest existing feature has a tad over 500,000,000 points.
    My best approach (the obvious one) so far is:
    IMPORT XML
    foreach feature
    1. parse the feature-XML into a model
    2. serialize the model to a StringBuffer
    3. calculate the hash (or whatever) and store it against the featureId.
    EXPORT XML
    foreach feature
    1. serialize the feature to StringBuffer
    2. recalcuate the hash (or whatever)
    3. compare the hash.
    Does this sound reasonable to you? It sounds slow but simple to me... Got any better ideas?
    Note that the third party editor has no "callback hooks" which allow me to handle the "feature modified" events, and whilste I can query and update it's internal database (dBase4 based) via the API, doing so is cumbersome.
    I've also looked into timestamps, which appear impossible... atleast I can't imagine how it could be done, short of writing my own dBase driver (which I'm not up for, thanks anyway;-).
    No ideas will be rejected... I'll try (almost) anything once.

    But you could read up on XMLFilter, which is a useful but little-known tool which works with SAX parsing.

  • Want to have Open Menu options inline

    I've created a community site and created a discussion. I could find options for 'Like' and 'Reply' are coming inline but remaining options like 'Edit','Alert Me', 'Mark as featured', 'Delete' etc. are appearing in Menu. I want all these options to appear
    inline with 'Like' and 'Reply'. 
    Similarly, in 'Discussion List', 'Recent', 'What's hot' , 'My Discussions' are appearing inline but 'Unanswered questions', 'Answered Questions' etc. are appearing in menu. I want all the menu options to appear inline not in Menu.
    Please help me out on this!!!

    I guess you should be able to add jquery and change the style on render time, use browser F12 developer tool and see what style is being applied on that portion of html
