Mark up files

I used to be able to add text, comments and high light text within my files, but now when I click on the page, no edit bar comes up. Please help! I use this app for my college classes and don't want to find a new one.

You may have a PDF which is an image, not real text. (Like someone took a picture of the text.) You can't highlight text if that's the case. You should be able to add comments.

  • Communication Channel marked all files as being read on FTP

The Mailbox FTP has all the files flagged as being read when a single file is read through a communication channel.  I manually unflagged the status field so all files had a status of N so none were pulled.  I had 14 files for this test flagged as N.   I turned off all our CCu2019s.  I activated one that was pulling the last file in the list based on the Service Ref# which is unique file name.  I refreshed the dir of the FTP several times as the CC was running.  One by one as the flag was changed to Y (file read) from top to bottom.  It only took a second for each one until it got to three very large files and the status stopped while it was reading the file.  After a minute it continued to change the flag until it read the last one.   All 14 files on the ftp now had the status flag changed to Y.  It appears it actually read the file content one by one and set the flag until it was done.  Do you have any ideas why it would do this?  From a dos prompt I donu2019t have any of these issues so Iu2019m guessing itu2019s something unique in the SAP FTP adapter that is doing it?
From a dos prompt I can successfully do a get 003520827870964903 c:data.txt and it will only update that ST flag for that one file as being read.  I can also do a get %EDT39A22%W_Z1JI4960 c:data.txt  and it will only flag the four files as being read that have that Mailbox/APRF value.  Now I'm trying to get my CC to do the same but no matter what I try it marks all six files as being read.   I have in my source directory %EDT39A22%W_Z1JI4960 and * for a file name and this will mark all files as being read when activated.   I have entered 003520827870964903 for a file name to further qualify and it still marks all files as being read.  It seems to be getting the file I want cause when I view the communication channel monitor it shows the right data in the payload but it always refers to another file for the archive / delete / test option from the processing tab.  There are no problems having a CC write a file out using similar parms for Mailbox/APRF, but trying to read a single file using the Service Ref # or a collection of files using a Mailbox/APRF mask seem to update the status for all files as being read.  Any suggestions are welcome.

Have you installed any apps that auto display the emails when they come in? If so the auto read feature may be triggering this, I had a app at one time that showed my emails in the preview window and it made the emails be listed as read... I would check your apps and make sure you are not using something like this unknowingly.

  • CS6/ACR 7.x not recognizing Canon 5d Mark 3 files previously edited in same version. Help?

Why are my previously edited canon 5d mark 3 raw xmp files no longer recognized and all sliders set to zero? I can see the xmp files associated with the raw file in their folder. The files were originally edited in CS6/ACR 7.x -in July 2012 - and recently re-opened in the same CS6/ACR 7.x.
The canon 5d mark 2 files from the same time/event are showing up fine. I have updated everything, but both before and after the update, same issue with the Mark 3 files.
    On a side note:
We have found that opening mark 2 files (that were originally edited in CS4 / ACR 5.7) in CS 6 / ACR 7.x and making any changes such as color coding causes all previous xmp information being zero'd out in the mark 2 xmp file. Not sure if this is a symptom of the same problem? Except the difference here is the Mark 3 files have never been touched outside of version CS6/ACR7.x - however the folder which holds both mark 2 & mark 3 files from the same event has been opened in the CS4 / ACR 5.7 window but without touching the files. By opening the folder in CS4 I can see that the Mark 3 files aren't reading and then know this event was originally edited in CS6/ACR 7.x
    Specifics:
    PS CS6 13.0.4 x64
    Mac OSX 10.6.8
Canon 5d Mark 3 Raw files
This is the first time in these circumsances that this issue has presented itself.
Any insight would be much appreciated
    Thank you!

First check to make sure your view mode in ACR is set to Image Settings, not Camera Raw Defaults.  This is accessible as the top item or three in the menu that comes up when you click the little threelines-arrow icon at the right of the tabs title bar, for example to the right of the word Basic.
Otherwise, did you switch your Camera Raw settings location to be the central database instead of XMP files and/or are you on a different computer that might have a different metadata storage location?
Open up one of the XMP files in a text editor, perhaps one that hasn’t had a picture opened for it, recently, yet, and see if you see any non-zero settings.  Also take note of the last file creation time.  This will help determine if the XMP files, themselves, have been written with ACR defaults or if they are just being ignored.
Also, check the date and timestamps of a CR2 and XMP file that hasn’t been opened, recently, and see if the XMP date/time is before the CR2 date/time.  There has been a bug, not sure in LR or PS, where if the XMP file date is BEFORE the raw-file date, then the XMP is ignored so maybe that could be happening.  If it is a LR bug, then have the files been edited in LR, which might have ignored the XMP files and the rewritten things with the LR default settings?
If no explanation can be found on your side, can you zip up a raw and its corresponding XMP, preferably one that’s not been looked at, recently, then put them online somewhere like http://www.dropbox.com/ and reply with the public download link, so others can take a look?
What version of Camera Raw are you using?  ACXR 7.4 just came out this week.

  • Camera Raw stopped opening Canon 5d Mark II files

After working for a few weeks, Camera Raw has stopped opening Canon 5D Mark II files. Says it is not a readable file format but I know the files are not corrupt because they will open in the Canon utility.
    Help appreciated.
I have already reloaded the latest version of Camera Raw from the updates.

    Hi There
I encounter problems with the RAW format also in Bridge / Camera RAW / Photoshop.
In my case the show up corrupt (at random, this means that some are fine and some show corrupt/damaged).
I have encountered your problem also, I think this was solved by updating both the canon software and the adobe software.
At the first time opening bridge after updating it took a bit longer and then the images started to show.
But obviously there is a problem with Adobe software combined with Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
So my advice .... update Canon and Adobe software to the latest versions.
Restart computer a couple of times.
Open bridge and then open a folder with Canon EOS 5D Mark II pictures, walk away and drink a cup of coffee and then the images should visualise.
This longer time for showing the images only occured the first time opening a folder with 5DMark II images. It looks like the program has learned something and after that the thumbnails show as fast as with other Canon cameras.
    At least, at my computer....
    best regards

  • 5D Mark II file conversion with CS3

I just bought a 5D Mark II, but CS3 Bridge won't open my files. So I downloaded DNG converter 4.5, but when I tried to do the conversions I got a message saying "There was an error parsing the file". How can I use CS3 Bridge with my 5D Mark II files?

So let me make sure I'm understanding everything correctly. Since my studio now additionally shoots with a Canon 5D Mark II camera, me and my staff of photographers has to use the DNG converter after every shoot to convert the Mark II files into a compatible .dng file?
I'm in the process of converting a shoot from today with the 5.2 DNG converter and it's anything BUT quick. This is basically forcing my studio to upgrade every computer to CS4 because this creates a serious kink in the workflow since we need to remain efficient after each shoot.
I have 8 computers that could potentially need upgrades to CS4. This is hard on small businesses when Adobe is updating their software so often. Regular updates I understand, but total version changes is another. It's hard for me to believe that this wasn't intentional to drive more sales towards CS4 upgrades. Maybe I'm totally wrong though; I'm just really frustrated right now. Any help?

Open the Script Editor or AppleScript Editor in one of the subfolders of Applications and run the following:
    tell application "Finder" to quit
    try
if (do shell script "defaults read com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles") is not "1" then error
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 0"
    on error
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 1"
    end try
    delay 2
    tell application "Finder" to run
If you change your mind later, run the script again.

  • Multitrack Audio - save as does not create marker xml file

    Hi,
I'm new to Flash and have been following the quick starts, forums etc.I'm currently trialling CS 4 and Soundbooth.
I want to create a swf with an flvplayer. The flv file that I want to import contains audio only.
I have created an asnd file - which is a compilation of 16 audio tracks (so multitrack) but have placed all the tracks on one audio panel.
Each of the individual asnd files have a navigation marker inserted at the start of the file.
when I play the compilation in Soundbooth I can jump to the start of the next track by clicking the fast forward button.
after encoding the asnd file to flv using media encoder, and then using import video in Flash, the media player does not respond to the navigation markers, which should have become cue points if I am following the tutorials correctly.
Also in Soundbooth I do not have the option to save as - flv file.
if I open an individual track and then navigate to Export -> markers, an xml file is created for that track only.
when I try to export -> markers on the multi track file this option is greyed out (disabled)
I did try the Export -> MultiTrack Mixdown, which gives me a wav file but no xml file.
Inserting cue points in Flash only allows me to use action script. I cannot insert navigation points.
Please can you guide me as to what I'm doing wrong, and how best to resolve this issue?
    thanks
    Helen

    Hi again,
I've found a work around - and thought I'd post it in case anyone else runs into this problem.
Markers cannot be added to the multitrack file - only to each sound clip.
So I saved the file as mp3 and then exported the markers from the mp3 version.
then in Media Encoder, when encoding the mp3 file, I selected the settings tab - unchecked video and imported the marker xml file before encoding.
now the navigation cue points work in the flvplayer.

  • Cannot open Canon 5D mark III files, but I can open MarkII Cr2s

Any updates for the mark III

If your using pse 10 then you'll have to wait for camera raw 6.7 to come out of beta.
In the meantime you could download the 6.7 dng converter and convert your mark III files to
dng copies which will then open in photoshop elements:

  • 2008 imac - beachball lock ups and no-boot 'question mark in file' issue

Firstly apologies am new to this forum.. am happy imac user (2008) but recently my imac is freezing in use and/or failing to boot on startup; the grey screen showing for a bit and then a file with a question mark in it.  This now happens frequently and I find my self having to wait hours before my mac will boot.  I have looked through forum responses and tried disk repair utility, but that showed no problems other than repairing a few permissions - also downloaded and run EtreCheck - but again nothing obvious, although I'll readily concede I don't really know what I looking for.  Before I sadly head off on a long journey to a Genius Bar appointment maybe for a new hard drive?? Can anyone suggest anything please - all advice welcome. Thank you

    Hi triffiid,
I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've been having with your Mac. If you are currently booting to a grey screen with a flashing question mark, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful (apologies if you have already seen it):

  • Power book G5 flashing ? mark with file icon !

My power book G5 is showing a flashing ? mark in the middle of a file icon, it doesn't want to respond to any disk's or function keys, please help.

I might add, here is an image of the machines known as the PowerMac G5:
A very similar Mac which is not a G5, is called a Mac Pro:
Note the extra drive bay on top for the Mac Pros.
iMacs came in both G5 and Intel models and are both white in appearance. To tell the difference between those two, you need to read the EMC model on the foot, and use Apple's article here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1463?viewlocale=en_US
Powerbooks and iBooks are both clearly indicated what machine processor they are under the screen. If your 4 or 3 key is broke, feel free to use Roman numerals:
    III is 3
    IV is 4
It is very important you state which Mac model you have, so we can tell you what article can better identify your Mac so we can troubleshoot your problem further.

  • Canon 7D Mark II files won't open in bridge or photoshop

I am using photoshop CS5 and purchased a canon 7D Mark II and my files won't open. I updated to the photoshop 8.7.1 and my files still won't open. How do I fix this?

    gregh57206245 wrote:
…I updated to the photoshop 8.7.1…
Assuming you mean ACR (Adobe Camera Raw plug-in) 8.7.1, not "Photoshop" what you write makes no sense.
ACR 8.7.1 needs at least CS6 to run.  You will never be able to open your raw files from that camera directly in CS5.  There will be no further updates for the obsolete, unsupported CS5 applications.
You have to go the free, stand alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1.  Locate it, download it, install it and then launch and run it on ever folder of raw files to convert them to raw DNGs you can then open in your CS5 setup.

  • Cannot open Camera Raw in Bridge with 5D Mark II files

Just bought a Canon 5D Mark II and Adobe Photoshop CS4 - no experience with Adobe so far. Neither Photoshop nor Bridge opened raw files initially.
After copying Camera Raw 5.3 manually into the (Windows) Photoshop "File format" I can now open RAW files in Photoshop (the automatic Adobe update program reported errors at installation and did not work) but NOT in Bridge. Maybe the 5.3 plug-in needs to be placed elsewhere - anyhelp on that for windows application would be great.
When opening my raw files in Bridge, the automatic DNG conversion did also not work.
My issue is that I don't know how to see and work on raw images in Bridge with the Bridge command "File/open in camera raw"  also not working. I was reading about the same issue in another forums and also in this space but after hours of trial and error and testing all the published wisdom I got stuck now. I am very keen to learn from the experts. Thanks in advance for support.

Hello, and welcome to the forum, Ludwig.
It seems that you missed both the readme ( http://www.adobe.com/special/photoshop/camera_raw/Camera_Raw_5.3_ReadMe.pdf ), or the detailed instructions on the bottom on the very page where you downloaded the update: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4365
The correct location is: Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats . You will need to remove the other copy from the Photoshop tree.
Please post this information on the other forums where you also saw unresponded questions on the same topic, so that you can help others!

  • Flashing question mark and file

My mac book is showing a question mark with a file and it is flashing when I turn the computer on, what has happened and what should I do?

There are four general causes of this issue:
    1. The computer's PRAM no longer contains a valid startup disk setting when there aren't any problems with the disk itself. This can be checked for by pressing the Option key and seeing if the drive appears.
    2. The internal drive's directory structure has become damaged. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to perform the repair.
    3. Critical system files have been deleted. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to reinstall them.
    4. The internal drive has died or become unplugged. This is the most likely case if the computer took a sharp impact or there are unusual sounds coming from its location.
