Marker positions

I am fairly new to MapViwer / Builder so appologies if this is has been asked before.
I have uploaded a .gif image as a custom marker into mapbuilder and added this to a theme which correctly displayes when I preview the theme. The issue I have is that the image I am using is the Google Map style marker [http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?chst=d_map_pin_letter&chld=|FF4848|000000 ]
When this marker is rendered, the center point of the image is used as the location. What I am after is the long stem at the base of the image to point to location.
My image dimensions are: width 21px, height 34 px
In essence, I want the hight to move up 17 pixels for this marker when rendered.
Any suggesitons would be very helpful.
Regards
Duncs

Hi Duncs,
the center of the marker is always used as a reference do render the marker. At this point we do not have an "anchor" point concept that could be used to make this shift. Therefore your solution for now would be to generate a new marker with the long stem being the center and making the bottom part of the marker transparent.

  • Can't Build project: "Marker position in movie not at GOP boundary"

    I am doing a slideshow project in DVDSP4, my first using Aperture as the raw converter instead of ACR. Since I'm not liking the way the colors look in simulation mode, I decided to build the project now, before it is finished, so that I can see how it looks on a DVD player hooked to a TV. However, as soon as I start the build, I get the error message that one of the photoshop files has a "Marker position in movie not at GOP boundary". How can that be—these are stills, not video. Would the fact that I have not renamed the file cause this kind of error message? The rest of the files have been renamed in sequence, this particular one has not. I know I have done this kind of thing successfully in past projects, and am not sure why things are different now.

    Hi:
    I never experienced that error but try this: go to DVDSP preferences and in the Track settings select the option "Fix invalid markers on build" and try building it again.
    Search is your friend !

    What does it mean and how do I fix it?
    Thanks

    False alarm folks. I posted this prematurely. I did a search and Drew13 answered this exact problem in a previous post.
    Thanks search function and thanks Drew.

  • Invalid Marker Position on Build

    When I attempt to Build and Format a project in DVD Studio Pro 3, I receive and error message: "Invalid Marker position. Distance between markers must be at least .4 seconds".
    I find no markers on export from FCP that are this close.
    I would much appreciate any suggestions...

    Hi Steve
    Welcome to the forum.
    In the DVDSP preferences window, in the Track tab there's a check box that says 'Fix Invalid Markers On Build'. Tick this box and that should solve your problem.

  • Trim marks positioning incorrect for files that have a larger crop box than trim box

    I've seen this question in one other place on the forum, but it doesn't look like it ever got answered. It's been driving me nuts for months, so I'm going to try to do a very simple walkthrough for this problem to find out if this is a glitch in the software, or I'm doing something wrong.
    When telling Acrobat XI Pro to print a PDF with "Trim Marks," the marks are applied to the "CropBox" instead of the "TrimBox." As far as I'm concerned, this is incorrect behavior. Acrobat 9 Pro, on the other hand, applies the Trim Marks to the TrimBox. Since I receive files with bleed and need to print out a sample on the printer on a regular basis, I have found it necessary to leave Acrobat 9 installed just to print these files. I've done a very simple walkthrough on how to generate a very simple mockup file from InDesign and output it to better illustrate the problem.
    I've created a new InDesign document that is 5x7 inches with 1/8" bleed. To make it easier to spot the applicable boxes in the file, I've made a box with a 1/2 point stroke. I made a magenta stroked box that's 5x7 inches to signify the trim, and a cyan stroked box that's 5.25 x 7.25 inches to signify the bleed. I then output it to a high resolution PDF. For the purposes of this example to make sure this can be replicated easily, I'm using the built-in [PDF/X-4:2008] preset to start off with. The only adjustment I'm making to this preset is going to the "Marks and Bleeds" section to check the "Use Document Bleed Settings."
    When opening the resulting PDF in Acrobat XI Pro, you can see that the various "Page Boxes" have been applied properly. "CropBox" is set to 0 to include all of the artwork in the file, "BleedBox" is set to 0 since there's nothing outside of the bleed area in this pdf, and "TrimBox" is set to 0.125 in since we gave this file 1/8" bleed. When going to print the file, you can go to "Advanced" and then "Marks and Bleeds" to enable printing with the "Trim Marks." Once you click ok, you can see in the preview image that the trim marks are lining up to the cyan box instead of the magenta box.
    As an extra step, it's possible to confirm that the trim marks are going to the crop box and not the bleed box or trim box. If you add a slug to your InDesign document and reoutput the pdf (being sure to include the slug area in the "Marks and Bleeds" section), you will find that the Trim Marks are even further outside of the cyan box. If you output your PDF from InDesign with Trim Marks already applied, you can turn on the Trim Marks option when going to print in Acrobat to see that Acrobat's Trim Marks are going outside of the crop box as well instead of overlapping the ones generated by InDesign.
    Is there any fix for this behavior aside from opening the files in Acrobat 9 and printing from there instead?

    yes, in the pure definition of the word in the world of print, Crop DOES equal trim...in the exact concept of what YOU see it as.
    in Adobe's little bubble, they decided to call the outer box the "Crop" so that they could differentiate between trim and crop in the page box model.
    These pictures should help, if not, I'm not going to continue to explain something that you don't want to grasp.
    Each picture shows what Acrobat is calling each page box line.  since they felt the need to call one trim and one crop, you have to widen your concept of what Adobe is defining "crop" as.  Not saying its right, but it is what they are doing, and what is causing the whole issue.
    All that aside, if you are not understanding the page box model, then your PDFs are probably not set up this way, so you probably wouldn't even notice the change... So why are you posting on this thread?

  • How can I make the marker event pulse width longer in NI-FGEN?

    I want to generate a marker event on PF0 line using NI-FGEN.I can set the marker event pulse width but when I was trying to make the pulse width units as 65 I was getting an  error-1074115931.
    How can I make the marker event pulse width longer without using script as I am using PXI-5412 which is not supporting Script.
    Can anyone help me out in doing the same?

    Unforunately, as you mentioned, the PXI-5412 does not support scripting mode. This will limit you to 1 marker using sequence mode. However, the PXI-5421 and PXI-5422 would allow the functionality.
    As far as making the pulse width longer, and as the KnowledgeBase Article that you linked to discusses, I don't think it will be possible to create a marker as long as 1us - 10ms using just the Marker properties and without using scripting. You can still try to do this with property nodes and see if you can get a usable result. Start with an example such as "Fgen Arb Waveform Marker" and use the "Marker Position" value to set the start time (you would want 0 here it looks like), and then "Marker Event Pulse Width Value" to change the pulse length, but again I am afraid you will probably reach the maximum of 640 ns here. If you're not able to get this going with the property node, you will need either a FGEN card that supports scripting or another card that does Digital I/O to accomplish this.

  • How can i get "just 1 point data" a marker fr my instr?

    thanx you JAB for ur answer.but i 've already done all and i can display graph from my instrument.What i want is not th graph but the markers(just 1point data to display).Do you have an tip??

    Next time, post a response to the original question instead of starting a new thread. I was a little confused about your original question. If you want to read the position of a marker that your instrument is displaying, then you'll have to get out your instrument programming manual and see if there's a command to do that. If you gave us the name of the instrument, someone here might have experience with it and provide more help. If you have a marker position from an instrument and want to display it on your LabVIEW graph, you can use a cursor. Create a property node for the graph and you can set cursor position either by specifying either the array index (when cursor is locked to the plot) or an x and y position.

  • In DVD SP when setting a target use track or chapter marker?

    If you have muliple tracks, slideshows and menus in your project and the tracks have only one chapter marker and you have the option of setting as a target, the track or the chapter marker which should you use or does it matter? Also would the same rule apply for setting the "next or "previous" targets in the advanced connections? I hope I am being clear on this, if not I can add more info.

    Jeff
    In DVD SP there will be some limits on how you can move markers, they will not be frame accurate.
    I usually use the key commands to jump back and forth between markers, then use inspector to nudge
    You can also try to just export the Final Cut movie with the new marker positions and use that to set the markers in DVD SP then use the previously encoded video
    Take a look here for this workaround that is good if markers do not show up and also will do what you need now

  • Position Class...- Simple question - urgent help needed

    I am only having problems with Position parameters....what the hell does a Position refer
    to? A number? Do you supply a number for Position parameter to find a node in a
    doubly linked list? It seems that it goes by that way, but how the heck do you located it
    with a Position parameter p (Postion p)? Doubly /singly linked lists have no reference this
    with numbers....I am only confused when you have instances like:
    public Object remove (Position p) {.....}
    How do you instantenously locate the appropriate node in a Linked list via Position p
    parameter?
    Everything else I understand!!!! It's just that Positioning is bugging the hell out of me...Do
    I supply number 3 for a third node in a linked list? or what?

    i can not see a Object remove(Position p) in LinkedList , and the only Position class I can think of is in javax.swing.text - which is to do with marking positions in text documents. ?
    can you explain your problem better ?

  • Lock a marker so it doesn't move w/ tempo change?

    Hi, and sorry if this is a remedial question but I'm wondering how to make a marker in the marker bar that won't move when I change tempo. I'm basically scoring a piece to picture, and I want to make markers for when certain things happen in the video, then play with tempo so that I can move my midi around to try and fit events to the picture events. If my markers move every time I change tempos it's useless! Thanks in advance for any help.
    Matt

    I think you can go to the marker list and lock the smpte position.
    I think.... Haven't done it in quite a while.
    Hang on, I'll boot Logic semiPro again, coz it just crashed on me again...
    (while we're waiting, hey wouldn't it be cool if Apple offered tech support for their 'professional' software? dum dee dum dee dum.. yeah it would. Oh, we're ready. Back to business)
    Okay, create some markers.
    Open up a "marker list" (in your 'list view').
    Make sure the marker positions are displayed in SMPTE numbers
    Then select the marker in the list you want to lock, and choose "Lock SMPTE" in the edit menu. Or use your "Lock SMPTE" key command. Mine is Control L, with Shift-Control L for unlock)
    Yer done!

  • Jump to marker dilemma

    Hi. I'm placing markers within subclips so that I can easily find the clips I need while editing. In my bins, I'd like to be able to double click on a marker and have it jump to that marker within the subclip. However, what is happening is that the clip defined by the marker (between clip marker and next clip marker) opens in the viewer.
    I know you can navigate between markers with shift+up arrow or shift+down arrow, but this means I have to jump until I find the marker I want. Is there any way to get directly from the marker description in the bin to the marker position WITHIN the subclip, rather than have it open in the viewer?
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Anthony Sergi wrote:

    No way go from the Browser to the Viewer in the way that you're asking. (Unless I'm missing something.)
    However, if it's a suitable workaround, you can load the (full, marker-laden) clip in the Viewer and then Control-click (right-click) on the Timecode Field in the upper right corner and select the Marker by name from the shortcut menu. That will jump the Viewer's playhead to the marker.
    Or does that not fit the bill?

  • Marker Thumbnail customized

    Hello just a quick question because I've not found an answer in the DVDSP user guide.
    Is it possible to set a custom thumbnail for a chapter marker? I know in the marker inspector there is the thumb picture, but this refers to the actual marker position. I want to leave the marker at the same position while choosing a different preview thumbnail for that marker.
    Can this be done? I was unable to achieve that in DVD Studio Pro...
    Thanks for your help
    Andrea

    In DVDSP you can have any image you want for the Menu for that chapter (if that is what you are asking ...)
    In DVDSP, with your menu displayed in the Menu Viewer, select a button to highlight it, then drop the image you want to use for the button in the highlighted area.
    With your button still highlighted in the Menu Viewer, look over to the Inspector window and select the Style tab.  The Asset box should now show the name of the file you just dropped on the button.
    Keep in mind, this is just the graphic for the button, to assign the video that will play, look just below the Name field at the top of the Style tab and you'll see the field Target. This is where you name the asset that will play when you click on the button.

  • Marker problem

    I had to go back to FCP and take 20 seconds out of a project. It's a 36 minute product video. When I changed the project, I had to move a chapter marker to go with the new position of the chapter. I rebuilt the project in compressor, and overwrote the compressor file, in hopes of replacing all the work I did on the DVD-multiple chapters and menus. Everything seemed fine until I went to burn the new DVD. Then this message: "No Coattestimonialsv2-Testimonial DVD-MPEG-2 6.2Mbps 2-pass 16:9,Try Metal, MI:Marker position in movie not at GOP boundary" Is there a fix I can do to this chapter, or do I have to redo the entire project for a 20 second edit?

    Hi:
    Look in DVDSP Preferences, in Track properties for the Fix invalid markers on build setting.
    This text is taken from the USer MAnual:
    While creating your tracks, it is possible to end up with
    markers that either are not positioned on GOP boundaries or fall outside of the V1
    stream. When this checkbox is not selected, a build operation will abort if any invalid
    markers are detected. With the checkbox selected, a build operation will
    automatically reposition any markers that are not placed on GOP boundaries and will
    remove any markers that are outside the V1 stream.
    Hope that helps !

  • [jdk1.4 Buffers] What's the difference between flip() and position(0) ?

    Hi all,
    as stated above, what's the difference between flipping the buffer with
    the method flip() and setting the position to 0 ? They seem to do the same
    thing, that is moving the pointer at the beginning of the buffer....
    Thanks
    Francesco

    the original sourcecode from java.noi.Buffer says:
        public final Buffer position(int newPosition) {
         if ((newPosition > limit) || (newPosition < 0))
             throw new IllegalArgumentException();
         position = newPosition;
         if (mark > position) mark = -1;
         return this;
        public final Buffer flip() {
         limit = position;
         position = 0;
         mark = -1;
         return this;
        }you see, both do the same thing. flip is only a convenience for position(0);
