Marker problem in a clip

Hello,
I have a specific clip where I can't ad any marker nor delete existent markers (unless I select them in the navigator). I managed to ad the first one but it doesn't want anymore. That clip is normal DV- Anamorphosé 48khz. When I put my viewer in the "image" mode I have my frame that is visible by the fine blue FCP line you have when you put the viewer in a image+wireframe". Furthermore the limitation of the line is not exactly on the frames edge (image is visible after the line). What is all that about ?
Thanks for reading !

Hi,
A blue line will appear around your Clip in the "canvas" when the playhead is placed over the selected clip, that is normal. To add a marker just press "M" ,and to delete or name a marker place the playhead over it and press M again.

  • Has the clip marker problem been resolved in Premiere cs6?

Has the clip marker problem been resolved in Premiere CS6.  As of early July, it was not!  Navigating, synchronizing clips seems impossible.

Explain your problems with markers in this feature request form: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
Sorry, that's all I can offer you.

I'd just like to add my voice to the chorus here - namely that Marker functionality for CS6 is extremely lacking, and has made my workflow for various tasks much longer and more tedious.
In my case I'm trying to match professional footage of a concert with audience-submitted cell phone footage. The pro footage can't be synced with the non-pro footage via Pluraleyes because the cell phone audio is way too high to be analyzed properly. Hence I need to manually sync, which I can't do efficiently because I can't put clip markers on the pro footage once it's synced in pluraleyes and sent back into Premiere, because it only exists in a sequence.
I have no idea why Adobe would remove a function used daily by its editors, one that was simple and reliable, for no reason.
And what's puzzling is that there's been not even an acknowledgement of the issue from anyone at Adobe for 8 months.
This doesn't make any sense. Usually customer service from Adobe is much better than this. Why no action on this one issue?
BTW, if you want to add Clip Markers to clips in the Timeline, you can set a keyboard shortcut for that.

  • Two problems with audio clips

    Hello,
I'm having two problems with audio clips:
    1. When I try to drag a clip from the viewer, I can't do it because it won't let me drag the clip. It only lets me drag the pointer around within the clip.
    2. When I drag an audio clip from the browser into the timeline I don't get any audio, just a series of beeps (and yes, my audio media is on-line -- I can listen to it in the viewer, just not the timeline).
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    1. Drag the little hand on speaker icon to drag from
    the Viewer...
Thanks! (Does it actually say that in the documentation anywhere? I try to RTFM, but the FM seems to be a little, er, mute on this point.)
    2. It means your sequence settings don't match the
properties of the source audio you're putting in it,
and you either need to change the settings in the
    sequence, or render the audio.
Ah, that would explain it. Thanks!

  • Premiere CS6 Clip Marker problem

    Hi everyone,
I work with a director based 200km away from me. So we need to exchange our work via mail.
When I mail her a project containing masterclips with clip markers she can't see them at all.
When I use merged clips this happens: when she selects the clip in the browser the markers show up,
but when she loads it in the source monitor, they disappear completely. E.g. when she selects
the clip in the browser again, they don't show up again. They are lost completely.
What is the problem? How can we exchange our clip markers?
    We work with Premiere CS6(Mac).
    Thanks in advance.

Clip Markers are stored with the media file, not the project file.  This allows multiple Adobe programs to read the same markers.  You'll have to exchange the media as well as the project file.

  • Seeing Marker Names in Audio Clip

I have a number of interview clips and some are audio/video and some are just audio. I love using the markers and having the marker name appear when my needle is over the marker in the viewer. But I've noticed that the marker name ONLY appears in the video, not the audio. This is a problem because the interview clips that are just audio files, there is no way for me to see the name of the marker in the viewer. Really annoying.
Is there anyway to make the Marker name appear in the viewer on the audio clips?
If not, which would be a dumb missing feature, is there any way to make a new clip with my audio and it's markers and a video slug. When I make this in the timeline and export the clip and include "All Markers" it does not include the clip markers from the audio. When I open up that new clip in the viewer, it does not have any markers. I'm assuming that when you export from the timeline and tell it to include "all markers" it only includes the timeline markers and not the clip markers. Is there anyway to export from the timeline and have it include the audio markers from my clip. Even if I could get that work around to work I'd be happy.
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Did I get you right?
I think we're still on different wavelengths. Using this screenshot as a reference:
    http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/19589/FCP%20Markers.png
The playhead is currently parked on Marker 4, which happens to be a Timeline marker (Aqua). Looking in the Canvas, there are 2 other markers in this sequence, one before marker 4, and one more after. There is also one marker on this screen, it's embedded in the clip (Red).
Noting that there are no clips selected in the timeline, at this point, if I were to press Option M, the playhead would jump to the previous timeline marker (Aqua).
However, if I were to select the "353 SA-Tag" clip, with the playhead in its current location, then press Option M, then the playhead would jump to the clip marker (Red). But even then, it's name and information wouldn't be displayed in the Canvas.
You've got me thinking too hard tonight!!

  • (repost)How to apply 'mark in' and 'mark out' properties to clips in mass?

See, there is 500+ clips that I go, one by one, applying 'mark in' and 'mark out' parameters to make them last roughly 3 seconds. Only 10% of these numbers need more treatment than that, so it would take a lot less time to un-cut these clips than to cut them all. It would be fine to apply them from start point to 3s, and I would roll the window to most relevant places as I wish.
Countless times, I would double-click an asset on the project panel, go for the source panel, press spacebar to start the clip, press I to add mark-in, press O to add mark-out, roll the window a little or adjust it to 3 seconds, press comma to add it to the timeline, just to repeat it, over and over and over and over again. I feel like I'm f%&#ng Sysyphus.
It would surely reduce my so-underpaid worktime 60% or more if I struggle to. My fingers are crossed for a positive on this one.

The only thing I can think of is to slap them all into the timeline, piling them up on track after track after track. Then position the CTI at 3 seconds and cut. Then delete everything after the 3 second mark.
Unfortunately you can't put them back in the bins that way. But if they had unique names it might not be a problem.
Or, put each one in the Source monitor, hit "+300" to move the CTI to the 3 second mark, then just hit "O" since the in point is assumed.
But no, there is no automatic way to set each to a three second duration.

  • Problem with line clipping.

    Hi,
In my applications there are various shapes and there is a Line Handle
associated with every shape. That line handle's initial point is center of
the shape and the end point is outside the shape.
I am using g2d.clip() method to clip the line inside the shape so that
Line shouldn't be visible from the center but from surface of the shape.
My problem is that the line sometimes isn't visible ,specially if center point's x or y is same as line end points x or y.
This is because of are clipping .
Can anybody tell me how to negate this problem?

    if (!ellipse.contains(line.getP2()))

                   area = new Area(rect);

When I use Web clipping with INLINE rendering on usual sites I can move under links, not leaving a portal.

  • IMovie11 - MARKING PHOTOS AND VIDEO CLIPS USED IN PROJECTS

After endless research, I have finally figured out how to mark the photos and video clips I have in my project so that I don't duplicate them in my project. It's actually easy once you know how to do it.
    1. Create your new project (Movie)
    2. Create your event with the photos and videos you want to use from iPhoto. Name your event same as your Project to make it easier to find the event for that project. The work flow will be > Event > iPhoto Library  > Albums > Select the entire Album or individual items.
iMovie will not mark any photo or video that is not stored in iPhoto, so make sure you have your Photos and Video stored there. You can always delete any media later you don't want to keep. I found it easiest to organize the media I will be using in a project into an Album, and give it a name relating  to your Project so you know where they're at, and you don't have to sort through your entire iPhoto collection to find them.
    3. Now you have your Photos / Video in your event.
    * As you ad the media to your project, an ORANGE line will appear on the media indicating you used it in the project you currently have open.
    * If you see a PURPLE line on any of them, that indicates they are used in a different project you have created. >>> See Attachment ...
Remember that you will only see these mark lines in events.

If you don't want iDVD to show its theme or menu then go into the Map mode in iDVD and drqg the slideshow containing the photos and video clips into the blue Auto Play bin at the left.
When inserted into a DVD player it will begin playing immediatey.  However, when findished it will fall back to the menu so use the menu which would look best for the situation.  They can be modified by droppiing image files into the menu settings bin to give it a different background.
Make sure your photos and video clips end up  in the slideshow together:

  • Problem to import clips video with "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader", my mini ipad and my camcorder?

I need import immediatly my clips video from my camcorder in my mini ipad with my SD card.
Solution: I have to use "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader"
Problem: When i insert my Sd card in the "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader", my mini ipad don't recognize the sd card... And i'm sure the format of clips video is accepted by ipad (specs).
I know why my mini ipad don't recognize the sd card... Because the directory where my camcorder put the clips video on the SD card is not accepted by  "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader". After some research, this device accept only the video in "DCIM" directory.
So my question: WHO KNOW WHICH CAMCORDER CAN BE ACCEPTED BY  "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader" WITH CORRECT VIDEO FORMAT (SPECS) AND CORRECT WRITING DIRECTORY "DCIM"?
    Thanx for your help!!!!!

Since the ipad is not a computer it cannot be expected to behave as such. The resources are limited  and so are the capabilities. Some things will work just fine but others will not. You have to be  willing to make some compromises and accept some of the limitations, otherwise you will end up being frustrated. Maybe another device will better suite your needs.

  • Problem with sending clips from after effects to premiere.  Color looks different.  Any advice?  Can't link.  4k raw in premiere and 40 layers per clip in ae.   Can't handle it.

There's  a definite color difference from Premiere to ae.  I'm using cineform files as alphas from ae to put back over the clips in Premiere as a layer.  The problem is the color doesn't match like it did in ae and the mask and all that seem funky.  Anyone experience this or have ideas?

  • Trim Mark problem. CS5 Any suggestions?

I am setting out A4 front and back covers as one piece of (A3+bleed) artwork to be reproduced by digital printing. After printing, the covers will be trimmed on four sides then wire bound.
I set up artwork with covers side by side with 10mm in centre to allow 5mm trim for each spine. My problem is that Illustrator CS5 adds trims on the proof which do not include a facility to specify centrefold trims or even a centreline. AI assumes all artwork will be an single rectangle and only puts trims on the four corners.
I can create two covers as two separate pieces of artwork with suitable bleed and trims, but then I must proof front and back separately and the printer must re-position each cover side by side arranging trims with his pre-press software. That is inefficient.
I simply want to hand over a facsimile proof and a complete .pdf fiIe with correct trims. I tried drawing the spine trims I required, but AI ignored them for proofing, even with the desk top enlarged to accommodate the trim marks. The Print dialogue box trims take priority. Has Adobe missed a trick here or am I overlooking a set-up requirement?
I considered taking the artwork into InDesign but ID also treats my artwork as one page with or without a centrefold, according to how I specify the pages.
But for the fold facility, the ID Print dialogue behaves the same as AI, as you might expect.
Can anyone offer suggestions other than the separate artwork option I have described?

    Dear TerraAustralis,
I work in CS5 and I am trying to create trim marks so that I can manually adjust it after and create more of them since I have a multiple itmes to trim.
I get an error message when I try to create the mark:
I have a rectangle with or with stroke or fill (it does the same error), I selct Object-Trim marks
and I get this: <The filter cannot complete because of an unknown error>
    NESS
what can I do to be able to edit the marks without making them all manually like before...
since the Crop marks command does not allow us to manipulate the marks?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Have you asked your printer about this?  I'm a printer and if you gave me a file laid up on a page with your trim marks  from Illustrator the first thing I'd do it place it in Indesign to strip them off and give me individual pages so I could impose it with my pre press software!
Check first...Adobe hasn't missed a trick, it's how the printing world expects it's files.

  • How to fix exclamation mark problem

Basically since I updated to iTunes 11 and I went to make a new cd to listen to in the car a lot of my songs have got an exclamation mark next to them and says it can't find the original file so since I HATE the new iTunes i decided to downgrade back to iTunes 10. what ever it was before the update came out to see if that would fix the problem but no that didn't work, so I've since been looking all over Google to try and find a solution to this but everything I found was mostly about moving the iTunes library and how to fix that problem but in my case that isn't the problem at all as I haven't moved the library anywhere, I did find a post about transferring purchases from my iPhone to iTunes so I did that thinking it would fix the problem as all the songs that have the exclamation mark next to them are on my iPhone and play back perfectly fine but iTunes would only transfer my app's not my music, is there a way to change this? Or if anyone else knows how to fix this problem in a different way I would very much appreciate the answer to this problem as it's driving me insane!
    Thanks in advance
    Jordan

This happens if the files are no longer where iTunes expects to find them. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the files, or that the drive they live on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use CTRL+I to Get Info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes. See this post for a detailed explanation of what the script does.
If your media is scattered around you may need to repeat the search using each of the different locations where you have stored things.

  • Problems importing AVCHD clips from Panasonic GF1

I'm having problems importing clips from my new Panasonic Gf1. FCE (4.0.1) sees the device ok, and selecting and previewing the clips in the log and transfer window works fine, but once the clips are in FCE (converted to AIC) they play fast in the viewer or when placed in the sequence. Strange, because they play fine in the preview window before importing. Tried this in iMovie 08 and get the same effect.
I'm can convert them Toast to AIC and they work fine when imported to FCE but this is not my preferred workflow.

I tried using Toast Titanium 10 for conversion as suggested but there was a slight issue with synch of video and audio. So I downloaded and bought Voltaic HD as suggested elsewhere and the AVCHD files of the Panasonic GF-1 are now playing in Final Cut Express 4 without issues - I am editing with no problem. Given that I can use the Log&Transfer Window (Final Cut 4) for my Olympus EP1 and my Panasonic HD video cam, it's odd that the files of the Panasonic GF-1 don't work in Final Cut (yet), but at least I am back editing. Voltaic HD was $35, a doable expense.... it does work flawless (so far).
