• Marker update

Hello,
I have inventory cube and i am compressing the cube with Marker updates.
I want to know, which request is compressed with marker update and which is not compressed with marker update. is it possible?
Thanks.

Hi Kedar,
Thanks for the reply.
we can find in the logs if a request is compressed with marker update or not .
here is the example
Request with marker update
@5B\QInformation@ START cond CUBE ZSCI0005 at 114826 on 20080725 maxreqid 74438 maxcnsid 0 refpoint update + NO NULL ELIM @5F\QNo long text exists@
Request with out marker update
@5B\QInformation@ START cond CUBE ZSCI0005 at 114826 on 20080725 maxreqid 74439 maxcnsid 0 No refpoint update + NO NULL ELIM @5F\QNo long text exists@
But this is possible only if you do a compression manually. But if you do a compress in process chain with process type compress it is not delivering this log.
@5B\QInformation@     FB RSM1_CHECK_DM_GOT_REQUEST called from PRG RSSM_PROCESS_COMPRESS; row 000200
@5B\QInformation@     Request '                                            75068'; DTA 'ZSCI0005'; action 'C'; with dialog 'X'
@5B\QInformation@     Leave RSM1_CHECK_DM_GOT_REQUEST in row 70; Req_State ''
Unfortunately i am using compress in the process chain and i need to test this.
Thanks.

• Where can i find the option "no marker Update"

Hi ,
i want to know where this No marker update option is?
Thanks in advance
Ravi

hi ravi..
In the context menu of cube >Manage>Compression tab, u will find this check box.
It holds the non-cumulative value(like stock balance).
If you choose this option when compressing Non cumulative cube; the reference point is not updated but the request are moved to Request 0(usual compression); you must do this for compressing historical data; for example use this option to compress data before Jan 2005.
Marker updates do not summarize the data. In inventory management scenarios, we have to calculate opening stock and closing stock on a daily basis. In order to facilitate this, we set a marker which will add and subtract the values for each record.
In the absence of marker update, the data will be added up and will not provide the correct values.
Compression makes the stock calculation(updation) as on the last date for which the records uploaded. So it is nothing but doing calculation inadvance rather the making system to do this calculation at the time of query execution.
The same explained in the how to handle inventory in BIW in better way with example.
If we donot do this compression of delta loads, the result does not be wrong but system takes more than time to do forward and then backward calculation.
For non-cumulative InfoCubes, you can ensure that the non-cumulative marker is not updated by setting the indicator No Marker Updating. You have to use this option if you are loading historic non-cumulative value changes into an InfoCube after an initialization has already taken place with the current non-cumulative. Otherwise the results produced in the query will not be correct. For performance reasons, you should compress subsequent delta requests.
See:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/how%20to%20handle%20inventory%20management%20scenarios.pdf
When you load historic non cummulatives you need to set the "No Marker Updating" indicator if initalization has already taken place otherwise your data will be erroneous.
chk this thread too..
No marker update
hope it helps...

• What is 'No marker update'? do opening balance have any relation with it?

what is 'No marker update'? do opening balance have any relation with it? i know that 'No marker update' will not update reference point that means it will not change the opening balance date to current data, is it right? please explain.

When you load historic non cummulatives you need to set the "No Marker Updating" indicator if initalization has already taken place otherwise your data will not match with the stock on R/3 side.

• IPod failure after update : do not panick (too much)

This message is both to thank helpers on the forum that saved me from having to send my iPod to repair and to those of you who are (or about) to experience the same problem.
My profile :
40Go 4th generation iPod with 20Go music in, always handled with extreme care, used daily for 16 months (so out of warranty) without a slightest faillure, including ripping to my new computer.
PowerBook G4 under Mac OSX 10.4.6. Just to say my message won’t help PC users, sorry.
Connection Firewire or USB2.
My nightmaric experience of 2006-03-23 update.
After I had updated, I transferred a recent playlist OK onto the iPod but to my surprise read 0 playlists, artists, songs etc on the iPod screen and could not access any tracks.
Did the 5Rs several times with no success, ie different alarm signals would show (not the sad face icon though), the iPod would not connect or would refuse to disconnect or would freeze every app. on my computer which always get a bit scarying. Checked the iPod under disk utility found out several errors.
After much fiddling around and thanks to fantastic help on the forum (track these by browsing my posts), I think I can tell you now what to do if the same happens to you and help you to recover a fully functional iPod in a couple of hours. But beware that this only applies if you don’t have any physical damage of your hardware. My iPod never made the strange noises that many users report. I should add that I am absolutely convinced that it is the update that interferes with some iPod models and so just the software has to be reinitialized.
First try a 5R of course, but if this does not solve the problem (in my case it surely did not), switch to disk mode and connect your iPod. If it opens iTunes, quit iTunes and go to disk utility. First check the disk in the SOS panel. It will give you an idea of bad sectors and/or failure to complete. If the checking is OK proceed to erase with the security option « zero out data ». If the disk has bad sectors, you should first do a quick erase with the « don’t erase data » option, then check if the disk passes the check up. If yes return to erase and erase again by selecting « zero out data ». The computer will warn you that you are going to lose functions of the iPod but don’t worry, you will restore these straight afterwards. This reformatting will take maybe a couple of hours but you should see it progressing smoothly with the elapsing time moving on. After it is completed, re-check the disk once more. You are now ready to restore, and I recommend that you do it using a previous soft version, eg, 2006-01-10 for instance, not 2006-03-23 which initially caused the problem. It may freeze while restoring. Don’t panick and try restoring again. I was successful at my second go. Complete restoring, as asked on your computer, by plugging to power supply. Then enter your own settings, langage etc, and come back to your computer, go to iTunes and…
… I wish you that, a couple of minutes later, you have hundreds songs back onto your favorite music companion and that you are ready for hours of bog-free listening like I am now.
Just to end up, I’d like to thank all the helpers on the forum (Mitch, Lyssa, Jeff… and co.) who give a lot of their time to the community in avery friendly way. I am in touch with Apple so that if ever the problem happens to be reasonably frequent, they do release a note asap.
Best of luck to everyone don’t hesitate to contact me on this thread if you need more details on the procedure, I’ll try to help as much as I can but I am not an expert just a regular user of Apple computers and slightly ; ) addicted to music and daily use of iPod (so not so mad afterall… ; ).

Don't give up HOPE ** this work for Mac users only**
so, after 4 days of trying the disk utility erase mode-- sometimes working sometimes not,,, ditto to all of these posts- my ipod seemed to have a hard drive failure the way it was clicking-- anyways-- here is what worked for me--
hold the middle button and play/pause until you see the check mark- (this puts the ipod into disk mode)
plug it in to your computer
open up the disk utility
choose Mac OS extended - **make sure the jornaled in not selected, and also **uncheck install OS9
then erase- you may get the question about naming your ipod if itunes opens and all that -- I'd name it, but make sure you check the option to manually update- you don't want to keep the box checked to sync with your itunes at this point-then eject it by using the eject button from itunes in the window on the left-
go to your ipod software updater folder (located in your utilities folder)---- here's the catch- the only updater that seemed to work for me- after 4 days of torment- was the
11-17-05 updater!- (I actually talked to a tech. on the phone and he said the latest update does not have a bug-yeah right, that's when all my problems started- but he said the one before it does!!- thanks for letting us know apple!)
so, double click it- hit restore - and wow- it actually worked- Good luck peeps- I know, myself, I was very disappointed in apple with this situation- My warranty ran out two months ago!- like many others I see here, I feared i was looking at another 300 dollars for the 30GB- but, alass it worked Amen- Let me know if I can help anyone- I'll check back on the board soon- to answer any questions i can

• Hot Fix error message for KB979344 "this update is not applicable to your computer", on Windows 7 64 bit with SP1

I've been having issues with an external Esata drive. Instead of being seen as a removeable drive, it is seen as a hard drive. This has caused us nothing but problems since our full disk encryption software automatically starts to encrypt
the drive rendering it useless.
The real problem I'm having is installing the Hot Fix, KB979344, for this issue. when tring to install, I get the message, "this update is not applicable to your computer" I've looked and this hot fix doesn't seem to be part of SP1, but
I could be missing it. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Keith

Hi Keithk,
This hotfix is already contained in Windows 7 Service Pack 1.
Please add the registry key to check if the issue persists. (For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. )
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Storage
Create a DWORD Value, name SATAHotplugPolicyOverride,
set 1 in Value Data.
Restart the computer to check if it works.

I upgraded to iOS x mavericks on my iMac now i cannot access my iPhoto i get this messageThis update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. I have not changed anything thankyou for any info.

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.
Step 1
A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.
Step 2
If you get the alert when trying to update a bundled iLife app, elect the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app in your purchase history. If there's a button marked ACCEPT on the right, click it.
If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.
Step 3
If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.
Step 4
From the App Store menu bar, select
Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.

• No Marker Update - 2LIS_03_BF

Hi
I have been having some issues with the Inventory management cube( using 2LIS_03_BF). The data in bw does not reconcile with SAP.
What I have realised is the following:
I have a process chain that loads the data every 3 hours and there is a step to compress the load with the field No Update Marker unchecked.
However the cube has the No Update Marker checked.
So which one would it use?
Could this be the cause of the issue?
Do I compress the delta loads ?
Thanks Again for your help.
Fahed

Dear Fahed,
It is suggested to compress the delta loads here as the incentory cube (0IC_C03) first calcultes forward (to marker then) comes back to the month where report is filtered.
You should check data period wise for locating point of incorrect keyfigure values.
Here are few points:
a) The request in which the opening stock was loaded must always be
compressed with a marker update
b) The request in which the historical material documents were contained
must always be compressed without a marker update and
c) Successive delta uploads must always be compressed with marker
updates.
For better understanding have a look at this document:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f83be790-0201-0010-4fb0-98bd7c01e328
Also see the OSS note 655798 for compression of stock's cube.

• Inventory Management (Advanced - Marker update)

I have been following your discussion regarding Inventory Management and the use of 2LIS_03_BX and 2LIS_03_BF extractors, and I have also been studying the How to guide on Inventory Management.
I am currently only using 2LIS_03_BF with no data restriction in the setup-run or in the initialization. The stock balance is correctly even though I am not using 2LIS_03_BX (because the sum of all historical movements equals the current balance).
But I am facing performance problems because I am not using compression. I am considering 2 solutions:
Solution A (the easy)
1. Compression on all request (with marker update)
Solution B (as suggested in the How-to-guide)
1. Delete InfoCube data
2. Generate new balance with 2LIS_03_BX
3. Compression of 2LIS_03_BX (with marker update)
4. Reconstruct old 2LIS_03_BF requests from PSA
5. Compression of old 2LIS_03_BF requests (No maker update - because all these will new be considered historical in relation with the newly generated stock balance).
6. Future deltaloads from 2LIS_03_BF and compression (with marker update).
As I see both solutions will solve the problem but A is by far the easiest. I would like your opinion!
When you do the marker update during compression does it matter wether you do it as described in the how-to-guide I can you do it as follows instead:
1. Compression of Historical Movements (2LIS_03_BF) (with marker update)
2. Compression of Stock balance (2LIS_03_BX) (No marker update)
3. Compression of Future Movements (2LIS_03_BF) (with marker update)
As I see the only important thing is that you do the marker update with eitherHistorical Movements (2LIS_03_BF) or Stock balance (2LIS_03_BX), but not both of them or none of them. I am not 100% sure but please give me your opinion.

Hello Thomas,
I have never tried doing the marker update other way around (through BF instead of BX), but I don't see any reason why it will not work. You are right that marker update should be done either with snapshot or material movement as both datasources bring same data at different granularity level. Solution A seems to be simpler and straightforward, but I am not sure if there will be any impact on performance if we update the marker intially with lot of requests from BF instead of a single BX request.
Regards,
Praveen

It could be that you have a hotfix or something similar to this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2998097
When you scan for updates, are you scanning against microsoftupdate.com, or scanning against your own WSUS ?
(if scanning against your own WSUS, or some equivalent product, you might not be scanning against the "full" catalog...)

• How do I mark things as not junk that end up in my junk folder

Sometimes I get an option right on the email to click "not junk." However, these items don't seem to have this option. I don't know how certain emails are pre-determined to go into my junk folder. However if they some how got in there, it seems there should be a way I can mark them "not junk" for future emails from the same person or from the same group of persons. Anyone know how to change the setting some how? Thanks in advance!

I don't know what CurlyMolly's problem is. But I have a problem with an email that keeps ending up in my Junk folder...
"Mail maintains an internal database of information that helps it detect junk mail. When you mark messages as junk or not junk, Mail updates the junk mail database accordingly and your junk mail filter improves over time. If you change your mind about what is junk mail (for example, you want to receive someone’s messages that you previously specified as junk mail), you need to mark them as not junk."
That last part which states to "Mark them as not junk." Well, where is that? Because what is in the top part of my Mail app when I have that message selected while in the Junk folder is "Mark this as Junk". Fact is, I have a rule set up for messages from the senders email address to be moved to a specific folder. I actually have dozens of rules with emails being moved/copied here and there. This one email is my only problem child.
