Markers in Audio File/Waveform not moving

In STP 1.0.2, I open an existing .aif audio file. I can add new markers, but once placed, the markers will not move by dragging. (I can edit them by double-clicking then editing the time numerically). The doc implies that you should be able to edit the time markers in the waveform editor as you do in on the main timeline. Is this a bug?

So, if you open a file in the waveform editor, move your playhead somewhere in the middle of the file, and hit 'M' on the keyboard, you can't move that marker with your mouse? I've encountered unmovable grey markers, but never unmovable green ones.
When you send a clip from Final Cut Pro and edit that clip in the waveform editor, the FCP in and out points also have immovable gray markers. Also, if you record multiple takes by recording in a loop region, all the takes go into a single file. Then when you edit one of the takes, the in and out points of that take are marked with immovable gray markers.
When applications do weird stuff, it's often fun to try that stuff while running the Console application in your Utilities folder to see if the program is writing out error messages. My applications are like little friends, and I like to imagine that Console is the only way they know of calling out for help.

The audio file can not be changed! - help

I really need help. I just installed Logic Express 8, and I tried to import a song in order to edit it (as a lead in music bed for a podcast). Every song I import in says I am unable to edit it - "The audio file can not be changed! Volume or file is locked."
How do I unlock the file/volume in order to edit t? This is the only reason why I purchased Logic and if I cannot do this I spent a lot of money for no reason. Please help.

OK, basics first..
if the audio was 'bought' from itunes or some other download, it could have some kind of 'digital rights management' (DRM) on it. So you won't be able to edit anything, it's protected. Nothing you can do there.
Also make sure it isn't already open in another application that might be 'holding on' to it.
However, it could be something simple to do with protections on the file itself.
Locate the music file you imported on your harddisk click on it once so it is highlighted, now press cmd-i, or select file menu and 'get info'.
There are some settings here where one can 'lock' a file. There is a check box under the 'general' section that needs to be unchecked, there is also a 'permissions' section at the bottom of the 'info' window of the file.
Make sure you have read and write permissions.

Audio file rename not working

I like the ability to add audio files to annotate information. My camera does not support audio files at the time the photograph is taken; however it's easy to copy a digital recording file to the folder and as long as it's got the same name as the raw file (in my case .cr2) lightroom recognizes it and plays it. In addition I have many non-digital files I would like to add audio annotations to that were scanned in. However, if I do an F2 rename in LR the audio file is not renamed. Is this a bug in Lightroom or is it because I created the audio file outside of the camera? If it's because I didn't have the camera create the audio file; is there a way to associate it correctly?

I have no idea, other than LR wasn't designed to handle anything but images that cameras rendered. I was surprised to learn LR even played the audio file.
Your question was clear; I read it badly.
AFAIK, you'll have to manually name the audio file, but since each one is a custom job, it shouldn't be too onerous.

Video audio enabled clips not moving together

I am dragging clips on to the timeline. They have audio and video. the dialogue box says they are enabled. However, If I move the clip, audio and video are not moving together when I drag either the video or audio clip in the timeline. Even when I disable the clip, link them or group the audio and video, they do not move together

Link them - select the video and audio tracks and press ⌘L.

The audio file is not recognized by Logic. Can't import audio files?

Hi,
The audio files are on my desktop. Logic 9.1.1 will not recognize them and gives me this message when I try to drag and drop OR Import Audio File OR use Audio Bin.
As far as I know, I am using wave files (extension .wav). So what could be the problem. Here's a picture of how the files look on my desktop.

Importantly, the black iTunes (only 2 out of the 18 audio files) are the ones that actually import. Does it have something to do with the fact that it shows under "More Info > Audio Channels 1" vs. the silver and blue iTunes .wav files (which do NOT have this)?
Furthermore, here is the process I used to get the audio files in the first place. On my PC, I exported audio files from my Ableton Live project onto a thumbdrive. I copied the audio files from my thumbdrive to my Mac. Maybe this had something to do with it.
Also, as you can see, under Sharing and Permissions > there is only "read and write" for all names, so it's not a permissions thing.

why on the desktop? it was just a temporary thing. I was not able to pull them into my Audio Bin. I tried what you suggested. I put the files in the Audio Files folder of my project. When I go to open them from within Logic by Import Audio File, they are visible but greyed out. I don't use the desktop except for testing stuff like you do.
+How was the thumb drive formatted? FAT32 or other DOS-format, or Mac OS Extended (HFS)?
+the extension is not where apps look to recognize an audio file format, it is the header data. Some audio programs can read RAW audio files, but more about that after your reply to this one.+ It is formatted MS-DOS (FAT 32).
(*I wrote all this stuff above while I was working and waiting for the PC to write to my thumbdrive again*******finally I got everything to show up.
I loaded the files again from the thumbdrive. This time they were all in the black iTunes format, and I put them directly in the Audio Files folder like you suggested. After some doing everything works fine. Weird.

Save audio file action not working in leopard automator

Hi, I would like to convert my aif loops to caf via the following process
-get selected items (finder)
-open in sound track pro
-save audio file
-close stp
however every time I try to drag "save audio file" into the workflow I get this error message
* -[NSNull length]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0xa002a020
I'm using STP as part of logic studio.

The real problem here is, why does the Finder have to be so ********! Why all this trouble just to change filenames?!?! Why use automator to do something so simple?!?! I have to use but I hate it!
Please, despite all the Windows problems and faults (and I hate Windows and love Mac), they have a better file manager then we do, because the explorer is a good tool unlike the finder! Why can't we just choose the items and do some "rename" option, or just select all, press "enter" and write what we want (doing a sequential rename by default).
Come on, if windows explorer can do this, why can't we?!?!?
The automator should be used to more advanced stuff, not to just simply rename items...

In File-XI-MSAccess Scenerio, File is not Moving

Dear All,
I am having one .XML file in one folder & i m trying to move it to MS Access table. But it is not moving to MS Access. I have checked the adapters & FIle Adapter & JDBC Adapters are working fine ie. they are green. Also, when i am seeing in SXMB_MONI there are no messages processed it is showing. Plz guide me where to see and check.

Hi Nishu,
The best way to check if your file is being picked is to,
1)keep processing mode as delete.if file is deleted from the specified location then u can confirm that file is picked by XI server.
2)If u keep processing mode in test mode then go to runtime workbench>componenet monitoring>select componenet with status(All)-->click on display button.
Go to Integration server->Adapter engine.
In status tab->adapter monitoring.then select ur file adapter and check ur communication channel.
hope this is sufficient.

My Audio Files will not load??? Help please!!!

This is my first time to audition and it started with me wanting to do advanced editing from premier pro to audition.
However as you can see nothing loads, waveform or playback. This is the first to audition, so its possible im missing something very simple...

Adobe Phone Support is complete crap. I seemingly got hung up on after a long time of silence and being asked to hold on as he appears to look into my situation.
My work around for my solution I figured out myself is to do this:
Right click the audio file in the media browser and open into audition from premier pro. The extracted file I then edited in audition and then had to drag the extracted file from media browser in premier pro to the timeline sequence.
Right clicking the clip the premier pro time line and editing in audition screws up the extraction process creating a tiny file that does nothing.
I can make it work but it doesn't work the way Adobe intended I presume.
Pretty irritating.

Elements 9 Slideshow Audio File does not play completely

How do I get an Elements 9 Slideshow to play an entier audio file? Facts: The slideshow duration is greater than the audio file duration. The audio file is an MP3 that fades and terminates prior to the 4:26 duration. No "Trimming" is applied to the audio file.

I'm not sure about this. The tool with which the mp3 has been created is the "Sound Tool" (Tools => Multimedia => Sound Tool) You can also choose for Flash Tool but that is not the one which has been used. There are other pdf readers especially designed for iPad which say that they have a sound tool built in (for the iPad) that should play mp3's. Nevertheless they don''t function as well (so I complained as well, not yet answered) they even don't show the link. The iPad Adobe Reader does show the link, but it does not start. I suppose that they have a built in player as well which is NOT flash. Why otherwise even have the possibility to choose between Flash and a sound tool in Adobe???
By the way talking to Steve is very difficult I think unless you have a direct connection to heaven?

Logic Pro 9- I saved a song- the audio files did not bounce and are nowhere to be found. The song is still there, but the audio files are missing. Any ideas?

I have searched the computer by song name in the audio files.
I have opened up media files and looked everywhere.
I tried remapping where they would be saved and hoping they were updated.
Any help finding where they are located would be great. The song still loads when I open it, I just can't find the audio files!

!!! Audio files are NOT being saved anymore !!!

Garageband does not save my recorded audiofiles anymore.
Everytime I try to reopen my project after saving, it just loads the software instruments but tells me everytime that "audiofile XXX.aif not found".
I reinstalled Garageband, however, I'm still stuck with the same problem. When I open the package content of projects i've worked with some time ago, I can find the audiofiles. But all the Garageband files I saved in the last week, are very small in size (1,3 mb as opposed to 150 or so) and apparently don't include the audiofiles anymore, whatsoever..
Can somebody help me out or is familiar with that kind of problem? I've pretty much tried everything in my knowledge, for instance to archive the project, but nothing has worked so far. A friend of mine said that it's probably a bug of some sort, but how can I get get rid of it?

Yep, it was a permissions issue which was solved by making sure we both had read/write privileges.
Somehow, though, it messed up privileges on my log-in for downloading podcasts. I was infromed that I didn't have enough privileges eventhough I had just made sure that permissions were set correctly.

For some reason on the download:podcast folder my privileges had vanished.

Since downloading ver 10.5 MPEG audio files will not play properly on my windows XP computer

The files are still good as I can play them on Windows Media Player but when played on itunes they are extremely distorted.
AAC files play fine. This makes itunes pretty much useless on my computer and I am afraid to sync my ipod to it.
I've tried everything I could in troubleshooting but nothing really seems to address this problem. i even removed itunes from the computer and reinstalled it with the same result. I am new to this community so if this problem has already been addressed and answered, I would appreciate some one pointing me to the solution.

Possible resolution...we'll see if it takes. I removed all hardware and software that had anything to do with audio and video and then added things back one at a time, testing the iTunes after each reinstall. When I reinstalled my Logitech Quickcam Orbit MP and then started iTunes the error message and the audo problem returned. I removed the cam and then tried again and iTunes was fine. So I think that might have been the issue...although we'll see. At least iTunes is working now and I was able to watch the season finale of Heroes which was a great relief. I am sad to see the Petrelli's dead but at least Hiro was able to find himself. Anyway thanks for all your help and I hope that iTunes remains friendly to me.

Page document with audio file not sent by email

Hello and blessed Christmas to everybody.
Here is my problem.
I created a pages documents with images and an audio file from iTunes inside.
Sharing it by Mail, (and converting it in PDF so that anybody without pages be able to open it) I see that the audio file is not present or not playing inside my mail.
Is this because of the conversion in PDF?
But I'm afraid of PC user not being able to see it if I let it in Pages.

Audio file not found - deleted

(I've read some of the old threads about this, however none of them seem to have a solution as far as I can see.)
So the problem is that I'm regularly receiving error messages when I open a project, which say "Audio file x not found", and this repeats for all the audio clips previously recorded. The "search" function is pointless because the lost audio clips are nowhere to be found, not even in the recycle bin.
To say that this is annoying is an understatement - when you've spent a day working on a song only to find that everything has been deleted it is very very annoying. And this is simply NOT acceptable behaviour for a program - I mean, it's not a bug ... a bug would be that it changes an audio effect every now and again, or changes the timing ... deleting all the audio tracks recorded is a SERIOUS problem, and I don't want to use Garageband again until I feel safe that it's fixed.
I should add that I recently did a clean install of OS X and that didn't seem to help. Yes, I've repaired disk permissions, that didn't help either. Interestingly I hadn't experienced this problem while I was using M-Audio's fast-track for the mic. It's hard to say that it's connected but I've been using a Samson USB mic for the past 9 months, however the problem only really started in January/February. I'm using GB 09 (v5.1, 398), on a mid-2009 Macbook Pro, OS X 10.6.7.
If you have a solution, I promise I'll give you a credit in the album notes of my next EP. Thanks!

The same thing just happened to me. I spent a whole day working on a song rough draft and opened it up to work on it again and it had resorted back to a saved file from days before. I know I had saved it because I had opened it up this morning and it was fine. I restarted my macbook pro and it was all gone. Now I have to rearrange the drums and record guitar and vocals again. Big problem apple....not cool.
