Marketing fraudulent scheme - is there something t...

Hello,
I have been a BT infinity customer for nearly two years now. I have always been satisfied with their service and the quality of my line. I have mainly chosen BT for this reason.
In October I have started to use more than my monthly broadband allowance (83 GB instead of 40 GB). In consequence I had to pay an extra fee of 47.7 £ which is the maximum charge that BT can take in this situation. I was not happy with this situation but it is in my contract and I received prior warning from their service that I was going over my limit. So really nothing to add.
Then in November I received the following email from their sales departement:
Date: 24 November 2014 12:03:44 GMT
Last month, you used 83GB against your BT Infinity 1 allowance of 40GB
Hello,
We emailed you during the month to let you know you were getting close to going over your broadband allowance. Now that you've gone over, you need to pay £5.30 for every 5GB extra (or part of) you've used. So we'll be adding £47.70 to your next bill.
But we do have some good news
You could steer clear of charges by upgrading online to one of our other products now. Upgrading online is fast, easy and convenient. "
I found the offer quite atractive and I upgraded on the same day to BT infinity unlimited. Today I have realised that I have been charge the full extra fee amount and after I spent nearly an hour online with them, they explained that I don't understand the email. According to them the charge would have been dropped for the following month (november) and not the one refered to in the email.... Problem I have not gone over my limit in November.
Now I have a new subscription for 12 month and they offer me a refung of 15£ as a gesture of good will.
Am I difficult, what would have been your reaction?
Regards,
Pierre

You're very lucky it was sorted for you!  I did this, about 5 years ago now, and had over £200 taken by direct debit from my account in one fell swoop, leaving me £4 to live on for the weekend!
Have been on an unlimited contract ever since!
However, just recently, I noticed that the basic line rental is now £16.99 p.m. and I feel this is high.  We have a contract that only includes free calls at the weekend as the whole family are now on good deals on our mobiles and tend to make and receive all our calls on our cell phones.
Is it true, therefore, that every citizen in this country who requires broadband and a tv package is obliged to pay this basic phone line rental?  Something doesn't seem right somehow?!  It used to be called a monopoly but I thought we'd done away with them.....
No it's not true.
You can have Internet access through Satellite if you want. No need for a phone line and £16.99  a month rental. Might need a big wage coming in though.
As  as mobile user you can always use Internet access through you mobile provider.
As regards TV well Satellite TV like SKY does not require a phone line, Freeview, Freesat, freesat from Sky, Youview, none require that you must have a phone line
