Marking Audio stream as EF in Video-Conferencing?

Hi,
Traditionally I have marked both the audio and video streams as AF41/CS4 but increasingly I have seen VC vendors marking the audio streams as EF. According to the Telepresence SRND both streams should be marked as CS4 - is there any benefit is classifying the 2 streams differently?
Thks

Hi
I guess the difference would be that if you mark the voice as EF, it's generally going in the priority queue which means it should always get good service.
AF41 is more likely to experience congestion and drops.
Video calls generally involve a G711/G722 voice stream, and a video stream. The two traffic types have different behaviours, so it makes sense for them to be in different classes, especially if you consider that you can generally ignore some video glitches and continue a conversation if the voice stream is arriving happily.
That said, lots of stuff just does mark everything AF41.. I guess it's something to do with keeping them in sync (i.e. sending both types of traffic with the same markings but to me the arguments do seem a little weak. Here's a snip from the old Video SRND 4.1:The voice component of a call can be classified in one of two ways, depending on the type of call in
progress. A voice-only (or normal) telephone call would have the media classified as CoS 5
(IP Precedence 5 or PHB EF), while the audio channel of a video conference would have the media
classified as CoS 4 (IP Precedence 4 or PHB AF41). All the Cisco IP Video Telephony products adhere
to the Cisco Corporate QoS Baseline standard, which requires that the audio and video channels of a
video call both be marked as CoS 4 (IP Precedence 4 or PHB AF41). The reasons for this
recommendation include, but are not limited to, the following:
• To preserve lip-sync between the audio and video channels
• To provide separate classes for audio-only calls and video calls

  • FLME to stream multiple audio streams

Is it possible to stream multiple audio streams together with one video stream using FLME.
I need to create a live streaming application that should be available in many languages. My idea is to send 1 video stream + n * audio streams.
    Any ideas are appreciated.

FMLE is not able to stream multiple audio tracks.
Perhaps a third party encoder is able to do, but the problem is I think the playback
cause adobe´s pluggin does also not support multiple audio tracks.

  • Muxing m2v and audio stream

    Hi,
I have a mpeg2 video stream (m2v) and a AIFF audio stream. Can I combine these into one stream. I thought Quicktime Pro can do this. I opened both the streams, copied the audio stream and in the video stream I did "Add to Movie" from the Edit menu. I was able to play it fine.
But, when I try to save it, Quicktime fails with "Unknown error occurred (-1)". Is this a limitation of Quicktime?. Is there any other way to do the muxing?
    Thank you for the help.

Among other things, MPEG Streamclip can demultiplex VOB or MPEG into .m2v video and .aiff, .ac3 or .m1a (a.k.a .mp2) components.
It can also easily be used to multiplex video and audio files together: just place similarily named .m2v and .aiff, .ac3 or .m1a files in the same folder, drop the .m2v file on MPEG Streamclip, and convert them to MPEG with PCM, .ac3 or .m1a audio. If necessary, MPEG Streamclip can encode new .m1a audio at 192-384 kb/s.

  • Multiple audio streams for 1 video track

Hi I have a few different sountracks I want to use with one video asset.
I want to avoid duplicating the video track and putting a version of the audio in it.
If I have an Audio tab in my menus with music and lyrics, one with instrumental only and a dolby 5.1 surrond
how do i target the buttons to choose different audio as i click on the 5.1 let's say, it will choose to play stream #3 5.1 surrond.
Been looking in the manual but could't find anything.
    Any help is appreciated

    Sorry about the links -:(
Anyway follow these steps and it should work (one approach, not difficult to do, I just wrote the steps in small bites )
Press F3 Key so we are looking at the same layout in DVD SP
1.) Make a menu with two buttons, label them Audio A and Audio B
2.) Make a Track (the "TRACK")
3.) Place your video on the video portion of the TRACK
4.) Place your Audio A on A1 track and Audio B on the A2 track
5.) Drop a chapter marker at the end of the TRACK (one should be at the begininng of the track by default)
6.) Click Add Story from the top Bar for the TRACK
7.) Name that story Story A, add the first Chapter Marker to the Story
8.) In inspector for Story A deselect/remove check marks for all audio except for 1 (uncheck 2-7)
    9.) Duplicate Story A as Story B
10.) In inspector for Story B deselect/remove check marks for all audio except for 2 (uncheck 1, 3-7)
11.) Set Button 1 from menu to Story A, Button 2 story B
Note that this method will not allow toggling between the audio. A quick way to permit toggling is to do as above, but have both Audios (1 & 2) checked in steps 8 & 10
Create a script called PRESTORYA and set it as a prescript for Story B, with the following:
Set System Stream AU(Audio Stream 1)
Create a script called PRESTORYB and set it as a prescript for Story B, with the following:
Set System Stream AU(Audio Stream 2)
FWIW the links worked just now (downloads a zip file directly to HD, take a look in activity window in Safari, maybe there for you?)

I want to be able to use airplay to stream audio to another iOS device, and then use that audio stream to be used when recording video instead of the built in microphone / microphone input. Is this possible?

A third-party app probably cannot obtain a stream from another app. To the best of my knowledge, such a capability is not provided in the software development kit, apps being "sandboxed" from each other and so allowed to communicate only in very specific and limited ways.
I'm not completely sure what you mean by "limitations on video capture". An iPhone, to the best of my knowledge, can natively record video only through it's built-in camera, and audio while doing video recording only through the built-in microphone or mic/headphone jack. There might be a video recording app that would allow audio input from an external device connected to the dock connector, but I'm not sure.

  • Pc-to-pc audio/video conferencing

I've been looking into the ability of a direct (secure) connection from one Linux machine to another for the purposes of audio/video conferencing.  I know there's stull like ekiga but that requires an account and a third party server.  I'm looking for a solution that would be completely maintained between the two or three linux machines directly (webcam/mic).  What's out there that I'm not seeing in google?

Also interested, been meaning to move away from Skype for a time now. I've looked/asked around and found opensips. You'll still need a client to manage calls though, I'll probably try out Twinkle. I'm going to spend some time trying to set it up myself. Hope it helps.
Edit Note: I quickly moved from twinkle to linphone.

  • My video and audio streaming always break-up (or I have delays)

When I watch a video from MSNBC thevideo and audio streaming always delays. Any idea what the problem is or how I can fix it.

Premiere does not work well with variable frame rate video which, I expect, the ipad produces, You might have to convert the footage before you import it into Premiere. Do a forum search for variable frame rate, there are a lot of posts.

MOV is a wrapper that can contain many different codecs. The message you get is indicative of a distribution codec inside the MOV wrapper. You may need to convert the material to an editable codec before importing.

  • How to change audio track on a flv-video during streaming?

    Hello ,
I would like to stream a flv-video, but every time with
    different audio-track.
So how can I change the audio track on a video-stream? Is
there any server-side solution for this?
I used to stream the audio on different stream - parallel
with the video stream -, but because of synchronization problems,
    it didn't work.
    Any idea?
    Thanks

Thanks for the helpful response.  I'll check out the the options available for shaping the sound with eq, efx and amp sims as you suggest.
It still would be helpful to know if I change an audio track (.aif file) into a midi track in GarageBand or in some other software so I can change the instrumentation of the track from piano to another instrument.
    Thanks again!

  • Problem with xvid videos with two audio streams

    / Hi,
recently I purchased a Creative Zen X-FI2, it is working perfectly, but I only have one problem, I have some videos xvid with two audio streams (mpga), on VLC I can select either of the two audio streams but I haven't found if I can select the audio stream on the Zen player.
Does anyone knows how to select among different audio streams on a video?

The X-Fi2 doesn't have such an option.
If you still want to be able to watch the video with the second audio stream, I think the only possibility is to re-encode it using the second audiostream (or disable the first).

Use two streams to manager client video/audio,Can i combine streams and record it with server AS API
    I tried Stream.play()
    var s=Stream.get("combine");
    s.play("video");

    s.record("append");
    it's don't work!!

Thanks, that's what I had thought. Our domain.com zone is sourced internally and replicated to our advertisers for external users, so there's no way to change the result for internal vs external users.
This is a rudimentary question that I should already know but I sort of inherited this after it was built: Can I have users sign in with their email address ([email protected]) but under the hood, their SIP address is [email protected]? This would let users
sign in with an address they expect, but it would take advantage of the the local lyncdiscoverinternal record.
    Thanks,

  • AAC audio causes stuttering in live video stream playback

I am using the Spark VideoDisplay component and setting the mx_internal bufferTime to 0.  (videoDisplay.mx_internal::videoPlayer.bufferTime = 0)  I am doing this because I need to have the absolute minimum delay in the live video stream.  I am broadcasting video files as a live stream using ffmpeg, through Red5, then to the client.  ffmpeg is not re-encoding the video or audio.  I am using h.264 video format.  I have tried encoding videos using Adobe Media Encoder and ffmpeg.
When I have a video stream only and no audio stream this works fine, but when I have an AAC audio channel with the video, I frequently see the video jitter badly.  It looks like the video is quickly going forward and back a few frames.  When this problem occurs it will go on for some time and sometimes eventualy starts playing normal.  When the video is playing normally the audio sounds fine.  When I play the videos in a regular media player (like VLC) they play and sound fine.  Also if I use an mp3 audio channel I don't see the jittering
Does anyone have any idea what the cause of this problem might be or how it can be resolved?

Ah, yes, I am not serving high-def video myself. H264 is probably better, but my understanding is that you need hardware acceleration to get good performance from it (again, not an expert on the topic, that's just what my understanding has been...)
This document [pdf] may have some usefull info on choosing an optimal encoding for your needs.

  • Multiplex a mpeg2 video and audio stream recorded via a satellite receiver

I would like to know if upgrading to QuickTime pro and/or adding the QuickTime MPEG2 add-on would allow me to multiplex a mpeg2 video and audio stream recorded via a European satellite receiver (like the Aston Xena 1800 HDU) in order to make movies that can later on be converted to be viewed on my iPod.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

No. The MPEG-2 component is to play MPEG-2 not encode it.
Use Toast. I assume you have separate audio and video transport streams, if they are named identically (1.m2v and 1.m2a) Toast will detect that and multiplex into a new MPEG-2. If not , add the video stream to Toast, which will ask for an audio stream to go with it. Either way it makes an MPEG-2 anew.
Of course you cannot use MPEG-2 in iPod so rip that DVD (Toast can make just an image and you can mount that) to get the VOB file, then use MPEG Streamclip or iSquint to convert the muxed MPEG-2 file to MP4 suitable for iPod.
Note I am very curious - are you sure this device delivers separate audio and video streams? Not a proper muxed MPEG-2 file? If the latter then just MPEG Streamclip or iSquint will do.
