Marking Email as viewed/read without opening

Is there a way to mark a group of emails on my iPhone as read, and therefore removing the blue dot, with out opening each one indiviually?

I figured as much. Maybe in the future. Thanks for the quick reply.

  • How can I delete an email on my iMac without opening it - I know it contains a virus

I have an email account on my 2013 iMac - how can I delete an email on the account without opening it - I know from the subject that it is a virus

It does not have a virus attached and unless you open whatever (if anything) is attached or linked to the email nothing can happen.
So you can select and delete it and nothing will happen
Although, if you never select it nothing will happen.
    Your choice.

  • How to prevent mail app on OS X & iOS from automatically marking email messages as read just when they are selected either intentionally or not

    Good morning guys
is there a way to prevent mail app on OS X & iOS from automatically marking email messages as read just when they are selected either intentionally or not
    thanks

On OS X, You are able to hide the preview window on the right in normal mode, or on the lower side in classic mode, by simply putting your cursor on the thin bar which is in between, and then make it as small as possible, so it goes away.
Then your messages won't be automatically read when clicked once, but only if you click them twice and a new window with the message opens.
Also, you are able to mark them as unread again, which is a silly workaround, but possible.
You can do that by right clicking and select 'Mark as...' -> unread.
    On iOS, I'm not sure..

  • How to mark emails as unread/read with MFE?

    Hi folks,
I am a newbie on MFE running on a Nokia E71. Works great but I havent figured out how to mark emails as unread.
Any suggestions where to find this function in the MFE client?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Jesper

I don't know how this feature works in Outlook / Entourage... knowing Microsoft, it's probably proprietary and does not follow certificate standards, but that's a guess. If they used standard certificate technology, in order for you to send mail encrypted to your client, she would have to have sent you a digitally signed message. Then, you can send her an encrypted e-mail. If you start an e-mail message to her, is the little lock icon to the right of the From field black or gray? If it's black, you've already got her certificate, and just have to click that lock to encrypt the message. If it's not, you don't have her certificate, and she will need to send you a signed message.

  • How can I view attachments without opening them?

I would like to "quickview" attachments before opening them. Is there a way to do this? I am running TB 24.4.0. My OS is Mac OS 10.9.2. Thanks.

You can't. If you want to 'view' an attachment, you'll have to open it, regardless whether that's 'quick' or not.

  • Can I create a link on my iPads screen to a document on my iPad so I can view it without opening an app

Is there a way to add a link on my iPad screen to open a document instead of opening a app and then opening the document?

With the exception of a few apps, like Safari, the answer is no.

  • Marking all email inbox as read

Is anybody getting tired of reading email on their IMac and then spending the rest of the day marking the same mail on their iPad and iPhone as read by opening each and every individual email? I hope I'm missing something.

Same here! I had to go through 248 e-mails from four different accounts and select them one by one. Also, there's no way to mark an e-mail as read without opening it first. It might be nice if Apple gives us that option in a future software update... cause there'll be future software updates, right?

Each email client has their own settings.  Like fingerprints.  No two are alike.  Some are better than others.
Me personally, I've never used Apple's pre-installed Mail program.  And, I never assume all the users here who post (like yourself) uses Mail either.  Reason why I asked the question.

Has anyone found a way to mark all messages in a particular mailbox as read? So far, I have to go through them one at a time.

  • Unread emails marked as read without being opened

On my Ipad 2, unread emails are marked as read without being opened. This happens when I open the email from my laptop after using the ipad. There are four email accounts on the ipad and they are all experiencing this. Any idea what is going on?

I rebuilt it several days ago and no change. I watched what happens and when an email comes in it shows unread and then changes to read immediately. Today, for some reason, the emails started coming in as unread and staying that way. I didn't change anything. ?????

  • How can I mark an email as SPAM without "opening" it?

When I go to "the cloud" to read my email, I might see spam there.
But when I click on the email message to mark it as spam or even
delete it, I've "opened" the email.  I don't want to do that, right!!!
So how can I mark it as spam *or* delete it without "opening" the
    email in question.
    Thanks!
[and oh, by the way, since moving to the cloud, I've gotten lots of
spam -- something I almost never got with me.com.  just fyi...]

You need to have the account set up as IMAP or Exchange (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc. automatically do this if you choose that option when you create the account). POP3 accounts do not supporting synchronizing between clients and the server.

  • How to I restore the ability to view the contents of emails without opening

Several times I have been scrolling throuhg emails and the view of messages in my inbox will change so that I can no longer read messages without opening them.  How do I change this back?

    Two potential fixes.
    1) BE sure they are apps that you installed and didn't come with ios5
    2) Check your restrictions settings and be sure the "Delete Apps" isn't set to ON
Other than that, try resetting ipad (you dont lose anything) by holding power and home button until you see the Apple logo then let go. Once is powers back up see if you can delete again.

  • How to view source of email message without opening the message?

In addition to Verizon Email, I use Windows Live Mail.  With Windows Live Mail I can view the source of a message without opening the message.  This way I can find out if the message is legitimate or spam before potentially getting hit with malware from a bogus message by opening it.  I can then set up a blocking rule so a bogus message from either the sender or the domain never appears in my Inbox.  I have not found a way to do this in Verizon EMail.
Is there a way to view the source of a message without opening the message in Verizon EMail?  Right clicking just opens the message which I do not want to do.

    computerbug,
You can get a preview of your email.  Log into the Verizon account and go to email > in the top you will see
    Conversations
    Contacts
    Calendars
    Settings
Click on settings < General settings > Display and you will see 2 options for email view.
(Preview is not available, if the resolution is less than 1024 by 768 pixels)
