Marking packet with DSCP

Is it possible to mark packets with DSCP field in the Maverics OS? Mark either packets with specific ports , src , dst , etc?  thx

Seems like this explains what i need. I  need to test.  http://code.google.com/p/exports/wiki/DSCPWorkAround

  • Wireless QoS - CAPWAP getting tagged DSCP 26 while inner packet is DSCP 24.

    Hello,
I'm facing an issue regarding QoS and wireless. I've attached a drawing of my set up as well.
My set up consists of a Cisco wireless 7925 phone, a 3702i access point, and a WISM2 controller (running newest 7.6 code).
My access point is connected to a 3750 switch, the switchport is in access mode, and is trusting the dscp values from the access point (mls qos trust dscp). QoS is also enabled on the switch (mls qos).
Please see my attached picture of a visual representation to what I'm going to describe.
In my particular scenario I'm looking at SKINNY traffic between the phone and the call manager. Per our Wired QoS design SKINNY traffic is tagged with DSCP 24 or CS3.  Traffic from the call manager to the phone is being tagged correctly all the way through (from the wired segment, to the controller and from the controller to the access point) the inner packet and the CAPWAP header is tagged correctly with DSCP 24.
Return traffic from the phone to the call manager is a different story. The phone is clearly tagging the SKINNY traffic with DSCP 24 as well, this is evident by looking at the inner packet in captures. However, the CAPWAP header is being tagged DSCP 26 for some reason. Basically it looks like the access point is building the CAPWAP header with the value of 26 despite the fact that the original packet is marked 24.
I'd like to further understand why this is happening in only one direction (from AP to the controller) and if there is any way to change the behavior.
One thing I might have stumbled on is how the 802.11e values map to DSCP values. Looking at the binary representations of 24 and 26, they both end up mapping back to the 802.11e value 3. My current thinking is the access point just sees this 802.11e value #3 and then tags it to 26 automatically instead of 24. I'm not sure why the access point can't read the correct DSCP value of the inner packet (being tagged by the phone) and simply map that same value to the CAPWAP header.
Any help or further insight into this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Note that when AP receives packet, it will only see the wireless header UP (user prioroity) value & not inner IP packet DSCP header. So all mapping of outer CAPWAP DSCP is based on UP value.  Refer this table & UP3 will map to AF31 (DSCP value 26)

I'd like to further understand why this is happening in only one direction (from AP to the controller) and if there is any way to change the behavior.
When it comes from UCCM side, signaling traffic already marked with CS3. So when WLC map that to CAPWAP, it will simply use that IP packet DSCP value to derive the outer CAPWAP DSCP. So packet goes as CS3 in that direction.
If you want to change this behavior (client to AP-> WLC), you can apply a qos service policy to re-write DSCP26 to CS3 on your 3750 switch where AP connects.

  • ITunes cannot find find on NAS and marks them with "!" - Only double-click helps

I have placed my iTunes library on my Synology NAS. After I (hopefully) got rif of my connection problems by switcvhing from afp to a nfs connection there is still another probem: iTunes does not "find" the songs on the NAS after have started it and marks them with the "!" sign on the left side of the name. If I double click on the song, that one is now properly found and play... This is somewhat "not useable", but it works when I am sitting in front of my Mac....
    BUT:
When I connect to my iTunes library from my AppleTv or my iPad  when I want to stream some music to the AppleTV, only those songs are available that I doubleclick some time before - when they are marked with that "!". This behavior of course is not "usable" at all.
    MY QUESTION:
Is there some way to force iTunes to scan the libray and find those songe marked with "!". I know that sometimes iTunes asks for finding some of the not located songs but even then not all of the "!" are gone. That only happens when I double click it manually or show iTunes the song in the "find" dialog that pops up if it really cannot find the songs.
    Thanks for any support!!

No one there with some idea how to trigger the re-scan of the library to remove those "!" symbols (and make iTunes working properly again) ???

  • SG200 high "Packets With Errors"

Hi, I have a SG200-18 switch that's been in production for about 6 months. About a month ago we had a severe ice storm and everything lost power including the switch. Afterwards I started to see very high "Packets With Errors" in the interface statistics in the web gui. When looking at the Ethernet statistics, the errors are mainly "Internal MAC Receive Error" with only a few "Frame Check Sum" errors.
Before the power outtage I was seeing about 0.035% packets with errors on the heaviest loaded interface. After the power outtage I saw 1.60% packets with errors on the same interface. Other busy interfaces saw similar raise in packets with errors. Again these errors were mainly "Internal MAC Receive Error" with only a few "Frame Check Sum" errors.
I contacted Cisco and was told that the firmware could be corrupted and that I should update to the latest firmware version: 1.3.5.58 (I was running 1.3.0.62). I updated to the latest firmware (including updating the boot code). Verified that the md5 check sums listed on the web gui match that of the firmware files that I loaded onto the switch.
It's been a couple days since upgrading the switch firmware and I've noticed that the packets with errors has gone down; now around 0.3% on busiest interface. Should I be concerned by this number of packets with errors? What does "Internal MAC Receive Error" even mean?
    Thank you.

    Tom,
I've seen a similar issue on SG300 switches.
While I haven't completely eliminatated cabling issues (I can only continuity check the cables which are ducted and perviously terminiated and the continutity check is ok) I have had an increase in "Internal MAC Receive Error" counts following upgrades to 1.3.5.58 and 1.3.7.18 firmware versions.
In my case I have four switches connected in a star topology around a central switch and interconnected via LAG groups- three swtiches are showing error counts on some ports (a mix of LAG and single ports) and one has remained error free.
At least one LAG group is showing "Internal MAC Receive Errors" at one end of the LAG but not the other- this isn't the behaviour I'd expect from a cable fault.
The "Internal MAC Receive Error" counts appear to increase disproportionally when the port or LAG is under load (eg speed testing LAN connections between Ruckus AP and Zonedirector).
Is this type of behaviour consistent with what you have seen?
In your last posted you said:-
"But I've also found upgrading to 1.3.5.58 there is a lot of tail error  in some situations and a factory reset and manual configuration clears  those errors entirely"
Are you able to definie those situations any more? Is factory defaulting the switch and restoring a backup a workable sloution or should it be a completely manual restore (ie re-creating the configuration)?
I can of course try a factory default and manual configurationre- but it will take some time and planning to implement!
    Kind Regards,
    Andy.

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • IS IT POSSIBLE TO SEND TCP PACKET WITH THE SOCKET?

Hello everybody iam programing HIJACK attack with jbuilder8 that consiste to detecte a communication between the client and server (tcp session or tcp connexion) and read all informations from this tcp packet(like NACK,N SEQ..) and finnaly send a tcp packet with false information. I have make this project with C under linux(red hat9) compiled with GCC and i have used raw socket like this:
