Marking Playing different iPod sections in iTunes

Some talks that are formated as mp3 files for iPods that I have downloaded have sections like chapters. In iTunes 6 when playing such a file, these mp3 files would cause a tab for choosing sections to be visible to the right of the play window in the header. This seems to be gone in 7. Is there some other way to display and choose these sections in 7?
Can you tell me how to mark sections in an mp3 file for this purpose?
Has anyone else noticed this change with 7?
I have searched the knowledge base on these question and come up short. Do you know a resource for info on marking sections and putting different album art in each section?

Have you had a look at this troubleshooting page? It may be of some help: iTunes displays a -69 error when syncing iPod

Wanted to transferr purchases from a different ipod to my itunes libary however, when I clicked transferr purchases it deleted all my music and replaced it with the purchase I had transferred this has never happend before... please help

Yes i've tried all of that. I've turned it all the way on and off and erased all of my music and put it back on and nothing works. And with the breaking up CDs and putting into compilation categories i have already fixed all of that stuff. It's fine it just doesn't show up in the list of artists. I can find the album in the songs category and the albums category it's just it doesn't show tha name of the artist. All of the other albums that i downloaded before i updated my itunes to th most recent update are fine. It's just the two that i downloaded afterwards. Thanks for trying though.

  • Text in iPod section of iTunes for windows not totally showing up???

When my iPod/iPhone is connected and I browse different sections of iPod/iPhone are in iTunes for Windows, there are several lines of text instructions. Some of which don't display the entire sentence. This seems very odd since there is plenty of blank screen real estate available.
    For example:
In the Summary Section (with iPod/iPhone connected), I see 2 lines of text under Version and 4 lines of text under Summary. None of the sentences can be seen complete.
In the Music section, under Sync, I see 1st line reading "Include music videos" but on the next line I only see "Include voice m..." and the following line I see "Automatically fill free space with songs". So why did the shorter sentence not display complete?
    Very odd.

Mine is a brand new machine. Burning software was installed before iTunes was installed. I am looking at this article which points to a possible problem with the GEAR drivers: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2308
It also points to the afs.sys and afs2k.sys drivers as a potential problem. I've verified that I don't have these drivers on my machine.
When I go to the GEAR site, it tells you to manually uninstall the GEAR drivers and install the latest ones. First, manual uninstall which involves editing the registry. Really? While I'm quite the expert at registry editing, NO CONSUMER should ever be told to edit the registry to delete anything. Second, if in fact the GEAR drivers are the problem, shouldn't iTunes install the right ones? This is a prime example of poor software engineering at its core.

  • Purchased Music Not Playing on iPod but on iTunes

Before I start, I have had this problem before (6 months ago) and it resolved itself through some unknown fix (with the help of a Apple Genius Bar who had no idea what worked). The purchased songs - mine and others who use my computer - play fine in iTunes, and play from the iPod on a PowerBook, and plays purchased music loaded from a PowerBook - but will NOT play purchased songs when sync'd to my Windows laptop (I know. . .). I have restored, deauthorized, reauthorized, restored on PowerBook and then again on Window laptop. . . Still NO music. As it does for everyone else, it plays burned music. . . I am stumped. I am open to anything short of incantations. It does seem to have started soon after iTunes 7 was loaded. . .

I gave up with the glitch and got another iPod. . .

  • Different ipod with same itunes

i recently broke my ipod and my sister gave me her ipod mini to keep. I wanted to erase her songs and jus add my songs to her ipod by plugging it into my computer. Her ipod had been hookd up to a different computer. When i plugged it into my computer it said that computer does not recognize device and nothing else popped up. SUGESTIONS???

Start by uninstalling iTunes and the Ipod setup software and download and installing the latest versions. Try connecting again if it still doesn't see the iPod try resetting it and then put it into forced disk mode before connecting. You could also try posting to the right discussion - this one is for the older, regular iPods. You have a mini.

  • Lots of MP3s (lame VBR) don't play on ipod (OK in itunes & everything else)

    Hi,
I'm a brand new iPod owner - just received my first one (2nd gen Nano 8GB) today.
I'm quite frustrated though, that almost half of the MP3s I've loaded on it don't play (it just skips to the next track). All my MP3s are ripped using lame (3.96.1) on Linux. The command line options are:
    -V 2 --vbr-new --replaygain-accurate --quiet
All my MP3 files are created by a script that from my FLAC files (which were in turn ripped by EAC from my CDs). The script converts the FLACs back to wav, then uses lame with the above options.
The problem files play fine in iTunes and every other player (software or hardware) I've tried them on. I have updated the Nano to the latest firmware. I've also reset/restored the nano, and tried loading the files with Anapod as well as iTunes. I cannot see any obvious pattern to which files play & which do not.
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Richard

    Extra info -
I've just tried one of the problem files on my friend's old iPod mini.
    It played fine.

  • How to have 2 different ipods on one itunes..

For the longest time i've been the only one with an ipod in my family, so I just imported through my main music library.
Now my sister has an ipod, and I need to know how to make it so we can have seperate song folders that won't sinc eachothers music onto our seperate ipods.
I plugged hers in, and now she has all my songs on her ipod.
    She doesn't want my songs.
How do I make it so that we have seperate accounts on one itunes?

  • Having an iphone and 2 different ipods on same itunes, syncing iphone

Is there anyway that there can be 2 itunes programs on 1 computer? The reason i ask, is that its a pain to sync the iphone after syncing an ipod. To sync the ipod you just select everything in the library. With the iphone's lesser memory you have to select, basically, one song at a time. This is a huge pain to do with nearly 6000 songs. Having 2 itunes programs that maintain to seperate library lists but used only 1 library would make syning much more painless. If there is a current way of doing this could someone let me know. Thanks.

My first suggestion would be that you read the users guides for both iTunes and the iPhone and/or search help for "playlists". You can easily make custom playlists for each device that you synch to the same copy of iTunes. The online video tutorials on iPhone support will also show you how to do this.
When your iPod, or iPhone, are connected to the computer, click on that "device" in the left hand column and you can select what you want synched from the "options" at the bottom of the page, and from any of the "tabbed" categories noted at the top of the window.
My kids synch two iPods, and two iPhones, to iTunes on one computer. They each have separate playlists for their individual iPods, as well as their individual iPhones. Another benefit of this arrangement is that they freely "share" their music, videos, and podcasts with each other (of course...it's really MY music as I paid for all of it.)

  • How do i sync different ipods on same itunes/computer?

I have an ipod classic and shuffle. Shuffle was purchased afterwards.
I managed to create a separate library and added songfs into Shuffle's library. Now i'd like to sync, but forgot how
to bring up each account, but can't open that library. Little help>???? Thanks.

With iTunes, you can only run 1 library at a time. Libra allows you to create more than one library and switch between them. You will have to use something like Libra to import your other library, the one that you create for your shuffle and have libra switch to it. The problem that you will run into is that if you switch to your other library, when you plug in your ipod classic, iTunes will tell you that it was synced with another library and you will need to erase and sync. If you want to sync both ipods to the same library, 1 of the them will need to be erased and synced.

  • How do I sync two different ipods with new iTunes software?

Up until I upgraded to the new software, I was able to quickly and easily sync both my iPods. One is an iPod touch; the other a classic. Now, I can't sync my classic. Any idea why or what I'm doing wrong? This new software, IMHO, is not that intuitive.

Is the following document of any help with that?

  • HT1848 Transfer library from different ipod to new itunes?

I just need help on explaining how to get my purchased songs from my phone, which that library is on an old computer.

You should copy everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

  • Playing ipod music on itunes?

My friend played his ipod touch music on my itunes. I just got an ipod classic and i can't seem to do that. Why?

Your iPod is probably set to sync music automatically from your library. If you want to play the iPod songs through iTunes, delete songs from the iPod, drag songs from iTunes, add playlists to the iPod etc. you need to change the update setting to "manually manage songs and videos". The song list on the iPod Classic will change from grey to black and everything will be directly accessible through iTunes:
Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something to remember about using an iPod Classic in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Songs won't show up black (they're gray) when ipod connected to iTunes

When I used to connect my iPod to the computer, the songs would show up as black in the "My Device" section. Now, however, they're showing up as gray. So, where I used to be able to click on one of the songs within "My Device" to play that song, now I have to play it from the Library. I had to reset the iPod (it started showing garbled German...yeah, that's right, garbled German)and, ever since then, it's been doing the aforementioned black/gray thing.
I can use the iPod fine when it's not plugged into the computer, but I'm stumped about how--and why--it has changed. Thanks, kids.

Grey text when you look at the content and a lock symbol at the bottom of the screen just indicates that the iPod is set to sync automatically with iTunes. If you want to play the iPod songs through iTunes, delete songs from the iPod, drag songs from iTunes, add playlists to the iPod etc. you need to change the update setting to "manually manage songs and videos". The text will change from grey to black and everything will be directly accessible through iTunes:
Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something to remember about using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Can I run two different ipods from the same laptop?

Hi, I am very new to all this. Is it possible to have two different ipods running from itunes on the same computer. If it is how do I separate them so when I connect and ipod it doesn't sync both lots of music.
    Please Help me
    Thanks
    Hoolie

I'm currently syncing three iPods to the same library. iTunes will recognize each iPod as a unique device. My preferred method of managing my iPods is "Sync Selected Playlists". This allows me the convinience of syncing (and all my ratings, playcounts and last played sync) while still being able to control what goes on each iPod. You can set your preferences for each iPod. You could managage one manually and sync the other. Whatever works best for you.

  • Sorting between Ipod songs and Itunes songs

I cant figure this out; Is there a way to seperate between the songs on your ipod and the songs in your itunes? I have A LOT of songs in my iTunes and its impossible to look through whats on it and whats not. Any easier ways? Thanks!

    Harry,
You can have your iPod sync automatically either with your entire library or specific play-lists. If your library is too large to fit on an iPod, create a (smart)Playlist with the songs you want.
Or you can manually update your iPod, but the songs must be in your iTunes library for them to be on the iPod.
All of this can be configured under the "Music" tab in the iPod section of iTunes (Left hand column : Devices : iPod : Music "tab" )
