Marking podcasts as played from Videos app?

I subscribe to a bunch of video podcasts and view them primarily on my iPhone. I usually sync things up before I go to bed so that I have fresh ones to watch in the morning. Since I subscribe to so many, it would be nice to be able to quickly scan through the listings and get rid of the ones I'm not interested in watching. I can't seem to find a good way to do this in the Videos app in iOS5, though. I've tried deleting them directly from the app, but when I do that they get transferred to my iPhone again the next time I sync. I'm not sure if this is a bug, but it seems safe to assume that if I delete it on my phone I wouldn't want it to get transferred over again the next time I sync, right? I was thinking maybe I could just mark the ones I'm not interested in as played instead, but I can't seem to find a way to do this in the app. Anyone know if this can be done?

I'm not sure if Crossfade works with podcasts. Crossfade is broken and causing issues with music playcounts. Disable it in Preferences/Playback and uncheck Crossfade songs to see if it helps with podcasts.

The start chapter button is a play the whole movie button regardless of how many other markers you have.
Once a DVD starts playing it continues to the end.
Chapters marker simply gives the viewer a place to start playback whether it be the start, middle or near the end.

If you're asking if you can import video fror the iOS Videos app to iOS iMovie, the answer is no. You can only import what is in the camera roll.

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

IPod Touch 5th Gen sound really low when playing movies/tv shows from video app

I just bought a ipod touch 5th generation for my daughter so she can watch her movies and tv shows that i purchased on itunes. On my iPhone 5S, I have no problems with the sound... Loud and clear. However with my new ipod touch, those same movies/tv shoes have really low volume. The sound while using Apps, Games and playing music are all fine. While playing from the video app, headphones are ok too... My problem is the sound from the speaker. I don't understand why all the other functions on the ipod that use sound is OK.
I have already reset my ipod and reset all the settings too... still didnt work. Please help! Thanks

The speaker is not that good but maybe yours is defective if you have the volume fully raised.
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted and have a poor contact.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R" or "R".
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem.

Movie not playing in Videos app

Hi!
I bought a movie on the iTunes store (Monthy Python's +Life of Brian+, even though I'm not sure that might be helpful to know) and synced it to my iPod touch (2nd G). Up to then, everything seems fine, the space taken up by the movie appears on the barline at the bottom of the iPod screen on iTunes. But when I get into the Videos app on the iPod, it says I have no videos at all. I've tried restarting the iPod, restauring it too, uninstalling the video and reinstalling it, but nothing works.
For what I read, such a movie (.m4v, video format H.264) should be read properly, shouldn't it? It was downloaded from the iTunes store! Can somebody help me there?

even if it's an HD, there should have been another video, the standard one, is downloaded so that the video you bought can be played in your ipod touch. HD is for PC's, and apple tv's.
I have almost the same problem. It's just that the movie i bought from itunes is shown in the videos, but everytime i try to watch it, "This movie could not be played." pops up.
I tried everything. nothing happend. restore, deauthorize/authorize, delete it from my ipod, then put it back again, turn my ipod off for one day.

I need to use a video in a Keynote presentation. How do I move a video from the Videos app into the Camera Roll so I can access it in Keynote?

I don't think that you can do it directly on the iPad, you will need to sync it to the Photos app from your computer's iTunes i.e. if you are syncing photos from your computer then copy it into one of those photo folders, make sure that 'include videos' is ticked on the Photos tab, and re-sync (or if you have the camera connection kit then you can use, for example, an SD card and copy it via that).
If it's an iTunes purchased video then it possibly won't sync to the Photos app (I've never tried it), and whilst they can be copied via the kit they won't play in the Photos app - so they might not also play in Keynote, they may only play in the Videos app.

TV series missing from Videos App?

Several months ago I purchased several TV series using my iPad and downloaded them all. My iPad has not been synced to my computer, ever, nor do I use home sharing. I experienced no problems until tonight, when I went to watch one. The rest of my TV series were there, except the one I was planning to watch. I went to redownload it from iTunes, but iTunes said that I had already downloaded the shows. I went into settings and deleted the series and began redownloading it - however, it still does not display with my other shows in the Videos app.

How did you delete the series so that you could re-download it ?
Have you got a TV programme age rating set in Settings > General > Restrictions that is hiding it ? If not then try closing the Videos app completely and see if the series shows when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videso app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Why can't I share any video via AirDrop from Video App

I have some videos that are stored in Videos app. But there appears to be no way to share these from one device to another. Why not?

The Video app generally contains videos that were purchased or rented from the iTunes Store. They are copy protected and can't be shared.

The only way to transfer it to the Camera Roll is to email it to yourself and save it.The Camera Roll only includes items taken by or saved to the iPod.
There are many apps. However. how to yo want to share it? Many videos are too large to email. An app like DropBox should work.

No audio on Apple TV when streaming from video app

Since the last update I no longer can hear audio from movies streamed from the video app. Music from iTunes comes through, but no video audio. This has only been a problem since the last update. Apple, please fix this!

IPad Air 2 Deletes Movies from Video App Yet Keeps Space Alotted

My new iPad Air 2 is deleting movies from the video app and leaving the space reserved in "other." When I examine this in iTunes on my Mac, the deleted movies now show their size as "stream" instead of their file size. This is highly annoying as I keep having to format and restore, and it keeps happening and I am losing a ton of space to "other."

I'm experiencing this exact issue on two devices:
iPhone 4S 32GB
iPad Air 64 GB
Both while running iOS 7.03 and 7.04 (recently updated both devices to 7.04 hoping it would help. It didn't)
My iPhone had become nearly unusable until I found your post. It had apparently accumulated >12 GB of "temporary streamed content", as after I did a backup/wipe/restore, I had recovered to around 12 GB free space.
It's unfortunate that the fix requires a complete reset/restore cycle, as it's very time-consuming, but thanks for providing that fix! It saved my iPhone 4S. Now I can comfortable wait until the 6 comes out to get a new iPhone.
Really, though, this seems like a critical bug for iOS devices. I'll certainly not stream any iTunes content until/unless this is fixed. I found that if I turn off "Show all Videos" in the Video App settings, it doesn't show the iTunes cloud content for streaming from within the App. This forces me into iTunes to do a full download if I want to watch something. Kind of a pain, but it beats a device that's maxed out on storage and basically bricked.

Photostream, as the name suggests, is for photos and video files are not compatible. You can import the videos to a computer per http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 - and sync them back form iTunes to the phone, The inability to e-mail the videos is probably an attachment file size limit imposed by the e-mail provider.

4th Gen Shuffle does not mark podcasts as played in itunes library

I listen to a lot of podcasts while I deliver my mail, and through the years each ipod I use I load the playlist onto, then I listen to what I can while working. At the end of the day I don't always finish the playlist but when I sync to itunes the ones that were played have the blue dot erased so I know to delete them from my library. This however is not happening with my new shuffle. Why? I don't know any Ideas? Thanks

Do you have it set to manually sync or are you syncing playlists automatically?
Check the summary page for your iPod. If you have "Manually Manage Music" checked, then it will not update what you have played. You need to uncheck that, then go to the "Music" tab and/or "Podcast" tab to select what stuff you want to sync with the Shuffle.
