Marking videos as watched in iOS 8

After upgrading to iOS 8 a bunch of my videos 'in the cloud' marked themselves as unwatched.
I don't want to download 10GB+ of videos just to skip to the end and have them marked as watched.
Is there any way to mark them as watched?

Ok it appears that the watched status in iTunes will sync to the phone even for videos in the cloud.
I marked everything in iTunes as unwatched, synced, then marked all my watched videos as watched, and synched. Now it's 99% accurate on the phone.

  • Front Row not marking video as watched properly

I kept hoping that this issue would be resolved with one of the point releases, but here we are at 10.6.3 and it's still the same for me, so here's the problem.
Before installing 10.6 I was running 10.5.8 and when using Front Row to watch a video (say a TV show I downloaded on iTunes) I'd watch it all the way to the end and the status circle next to it would show that it's been watched. iTunes would report the same status.
Since installing 10.6 when I watch a video in Front Row all the way, the status shows up as if it's only partially watched instead of completely watched. I'm sure the video was over since I let it play all the way through until it comes back to Front Row.
This is very annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there some way to fix it? If not, I hope Apple can address this in 10.6.4.

    Bump.
I have tried multiple solutions and non have solved this issue. I am rather disappointed that watching content on my AppleTV or via FrontRow does not mark the show as "watched" in iTunes. FrontRow will mark it part watched and AppleTV does not effect the watched status flag at all.
I do believe this is an iTunes 10 issue though as I only saw it after upgrading to iTunes 10.
Can anyone point me to a solution?

  • Marking videos as "watched"

I have the new Apple TV. It works great. However, today I noticed something odd. I have TV shows on my computer in iTunes and both devices use Home Sharing. Everything works great and I watch the TVs from the Computer on the Apple TV. However, when a show concludes, my old Apple TV will mark the show as "Watched" on the computer there by allowing my other devices (iPads, iPods etc) to see the show as watched and not sync them. The new Apple TV does not mark shows as watched.
If I hold down the remote button and get the pop up dialog to manually mark the show as watched, the new Apple TV crashes and reboots.
Anyone else having this issue? I have 2 new apple tvs, in different rooms and I have confirmed that this happens on both. Manually marking a show as "watched" causes the new Apple TV to crash and reboot.

that's because it's not an itunes issue. it's an appletv software issue, and won't be resolved until there is an update to the appletv software.
I was attempting to verify this problem and test a hypothesis. Above in the thread, someone suggested that they had success with a restore. It can be safely assumed that it is a bug in the AppleTV software, but since iTunes does have a hand in the operation, it is also plausible that iTunes 10 might be causing the issue. I was trying to replicate and verify that a restore might fix the problem. Add this been the case, then it would suggest that the OS shipped on the ATV is different than the one obtained through a restore. This is however, not the case.
After restoring my AppleTV, it still crashes and restarts when trying to mark shows as "Watched." It also does not correctly mark a show as "Watched" when the end of a show is reached.
Hopefully, Apple reps read these and report the issues.

  • How do i mark videos as watched on ipad

When I am watching a movie or tv show on my ipad that is being shared from my Mac, the video is never marked as shared on the iPad. If i go into itunes on the Mac it will show the item as watched. This makes it very frustrating when watching TV episodes on the iPad and then not being able to keep track as to which episodes have been watched. Is this a bug on the iPad and home sharing or is this simply an over sight from Apple?

The video on that site uses Flash not HTML5. From the page source
    "The ABC7/WJLA Live Player requires
    <a href="http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/">Adobe Flash Player</a>"
The error message is telling you the page does not support HTML5 video which your iPad does support.
Sorry Illaass. I meant to respond to the original poster not to you.

  • Front Row not marking media as watched in iTunes after viewing.

Since updating to iTunes 10 I have noted that when I watch video in Front Row that the video file is not marked as watched in iTunes even though the full clip is played in Front Row. The podcast is marked as partially watched (half a blue ball).

open automatically when the streaming video starts but Windows Media
Player opens. What program is low cost that will save the video
stream that Quick Time Player or Windows Media Player can open?As I see it, you basically have 3 main options:
    1) Screen Capture -- Any streaming video that can be watched/listened to can be captured. Several applications are available that can do this but I generally prefer SnapzProX. This class of program essentially allows you to "record" the audio and video as it is being played back on your computer. This is normally done using a very simple but very fast codecs which create rather large files on your computer but which can then be transcoded to a more efficient format for playback whenever you wish.
ADVANTAGES: You end up with a fully self-contained copy of the media which can be locally archived, moved, copied, and is available as long as you keep the copy.
DISADVANTAGES: This approach can require large amounts of storage space depending on the commpression format used and the number of files stored. Depending on the material involved, this could constitute a copyright violation of media use.
    2) Save As... -- If you have/purchase QT Pro and/or an appropriate third-party QT component (like Flip4Mac in this case), you open open/play the streaming file in the QT Pro Player and save a copy of the movie that contains a resource pointer to the online streaming server. For all intents, you have a "copy" of the file stored on your computer that can, within certain limits, be played back whenever you wish.
ADVANTAGES: Since the saved movies are very small, you can save a large number of them on your computer. Since they open and play just like standalone movies, they are very easy to use and share. Since control of the content remains with the orginator and access (public or limited) remains as intended by the originator, you would not be violating copyrights here.
DISADVANTAGES: Material may be changed, removed, or unavailable for one reason or another at any given time. Playback requires connection to the Internet.
    3) Bookmark/URL List -- As a last resort, you can always bookmark or copy the relavent streaming server URL to a "hyperlink" list and open the media manually whenever you wish/are able to do so.
    ADVANTAGES: Nothing to buy.
DISADVANTAGES: Requires extra effort on your part, still won't open in the QT Player, and still remains subject to the online vagaries mentioned above.

  • Sending video in Messages in iOS 8?

I was trying the new tap to send audio and video in Messages in iOS 8 on my iPhone 5. Recording audio and sending it seemed to work. Recording video seemed to work, but when I touched the send arrow nothing appeared to get sent.
Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    doug

I have a copy of what I did if that's what you mean.  And it's funny because it happened again.  I was just randomly messaging someone and a picture popped up with the Aa key and the color slide on the right edge .  Normally if I hit the pictures my pictures come up small on the bottom of Messenger and then I can send them or do other things.  But when it happened yesterday  I don't know if I hit a combination of keys or how I did it but I did but a large picture came up that I took of Facebook (both times were pics of f/b) and instead of the normal Airdrop, then Facebook, Messenger, Mail, Twitter and the More button  and under that the copy, slideshow, print, etc.  I get the Aa and the color thing.  Can someone be hacking me.  Can it be an error.

  • Video titles missing from iOS 7 video app

The new video app in iOS 7 shows you icons of each video.  But the title of the video has been removed (iOS 6 would show an icon AND the title).  Can that be restored?  I don't want to have to select each individual video, go to that video's screen to find out which video/tv shoe/movie it is, go back to the main screen, select the next video, etc., until I find the one I want.

i agree. on ios 6, I had a list of the titles.  Now I have to guess what the videos are (some have totally black frames) and hit them hoping to get the correct one or one nearby - as they are in alphabetical order.  I am a professional videographer and this makes it more difficult for me to demo my material.  There is no option I can tell to change the behavior.
Shame - I also had an issue with a change they made to the music play (you can no longer drill down on genre and get just artists, albums and then songs in that genre).  Apple has said this is by design.
Looks like I now need a new third party music app and video app.  Apple does not understand that when you upgrade or improve functionality, you don't remove prior functionality - you make it at least an option.
(I even consider a 'workaround' by unchecking everything in spotlight search but videos but there is nothing I know of [or is there] that matches everything like an asterisk does in windows)

  • How can I save a YouTube video and watch it later while I'm offline?

I'm trying to save a YouTube video and watch it offline.

    Another EASY way:
Ik the address bar, insert "SS" between http://www. and youtube........
    So: http://www.youtube........ becomes
http://www.'''SS'''youtube..... (.......is the movie you want to see)
    Click enter.
You'll see another website, where you can download in MP4 or other extentions, low, medium or high quality.
    DONE! ☺☺☺

  • Freezing video when watching movie on 2nd monitor.

Freezing fregrently for a second video when watching movie with ful screen option.
    OSX 10.6.8 system.
    MacBook pro 3,1
    2.2 GHZ
    memory 4GB
    NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

You won't be able to do it with the included QuickTime media player. But it can be done with other media players like MPlayer or VLC I am pretty sure. Haven't had this exact need myself but have seen other similar threads and recall the above being recommended. Good luck.

I'm not sure, but I know it's not recommended to upgrade to iOS 8 on anything older than an iPhone 5. I only lost my music playlists and music that was on my phone, but that music is also on my iTunes, not the playlists though, and I don't want to go through ALL my iTunes library to fix it either... But it seems I don't have a choice right now.
Whatever you do, do NOT upgrade to iCloud Drive, keep iCloud till OS X Yosemite comes out, if your computer is a Mac. I also just noticed that all my documents on my phone are gone from Pages, BUT if I go on the iCloud website they are still there. Hopefully it will all work itself out when I can update my macbook pro to OS X Yosemite.
If you backed up your phone and all your purchases off your iPhone prior to trying to upgrade you should be fine... But I'm not even remotely sure.

  • I downloaded adobe flashplayer as i couldnt see any video content on facebook. now all the videos i watch are jerky. ive tried to delete it off my harddrive and emptyied trash but still its no good. what have i done wrong/ and how can i fix it?

I downloaded adobe flashplayer as i coulnt access video content on Facebook. now all the videos i watch jerk around. what have i done wrong and how can i fix it? I tried deleted the program to trash then emptyied trash but its still happening

Try emptying your browser cache more often. If you are using Safari, from the menu bar top of your screen click Safari > Empty Cache
Try a video on FB. If can't stream Flash content, back to the menu bar click Safari > Reset Safari. Select the top 5 boxes, click Reset.
If that doesn't help, try deleing Flash cookies >  Flush.app – Flash Cookie Removal Tool For OS X | MacHacks.TV
