Hi, I have the software MARS box v4.3.5 (2838) IPS Signature Version 330
Is there any upgrade available for it?
Where can I found info for upgarding the software and IPS Signature on Cisco Web Site?
I also want to integrate CiscoWorks, LMS 2.6 to sent SNMP Trap Notification to the MARS box v4.3.5 (2838) IPS Signature Version 330. Is it possible and what would be the port # on the MARS box?

You are already running the latest software for the Generation 1 MARS appliances. You can find newer updates here:

For IPS, it is better to turn on automatic updates. Just go to:
Admin >> System Setup >> IPS Signature Dynamic Update Settings
The URL is already set there, just put your CCO username/password and click 'Update Now' then hit 'Submit'. I think the current Signature release is 352. You can manually downlaod them from here if you like:

MARS: IPS Signature Dynamic Update Failed

Hello all,
I checked the signature update on the MARS system and it has no update for over 6 months. My bad. I should checked this regularly.
So I tested the connectivity and it said successful. Did the update now and failed:

It seems it does see the new signature out there but the down load failed not sure why. I manually down load the signature and SSH to
the box manually did the pnupgrade using ftp and also got error:

So from there may be file was corrupted so I did the same for S480, S479, S478 and got same error.
Checked the thread in the community and follow the same step that in the threat and I am still geting no where.
Case is opened and still going no where.
If anyone ran into this problem before and had a solution for this is appreciated.

It does not support manually downloading the file and perform the update.
Please use either local web server or direct connection to cisco.com site from the MARS as follows to update the IPS signature:

How to convert Cisco IPS signatures to a MARS events - no keyword search

I am trying to run a scheduled report looking for the new Microsoft exploit under the IPS S411 release, SIGID 19339.0 and I am trying to form the query looking for the event this falls under without using a keyword search on the SIGID. Does anyone know how to correlate an IPS signature to a MARS event?

CS-MARS 4.3.1 and Cisco IPS 5.1(6)

Hello everyone,
I start this discussion as I think I'm experiencing something really strange with CS-MARS 4.3.1 (build 2600) and Cisco IPS 5.1(6).
I upgraded today our MARS box from 4.2.8 to 4.3.1. And a bit later, I decided to migrate one of our IPS from 4.1 to 5.1.
After all the upgrades, I deleted the old IDS 4.1 from MARS and recreated it. But I can't have MARS to communicate with the IPS! From the MARS box I can "telnet ... 443", I have a response, but MARS complains again and again of being not able to contact the IPS. "Try a telnet ... 443 from the MARS appliance to check if IP connectivity is present" is the message reported by the "View Error" after a "test connectivity" has been issued.
The problem is that I need that first connection to make MARS subscribes to the IPS in order to receive the logs.
I made a try with a 5.1 IPS already present before the upgrade : same result "Can't connect". But as the MARS box subscribed previously to the IPS, the logs are arriving.
Does someone else have this strange behaviour ?

When I upgrade the mars to 4.3.1. I've noticed that the mars doesn't received any logs from IPS,ASA and other reporting device. But when I check ASA and IPS, i'm pretty sure that the ASA and IPS were sending syslogs alerts to mars the only problem is the mars could not receive. I can ping the IPS / ASA in the mars console but failed when i test the connectivity/discover in Web Interface.
I also execute the pnstart and pnstatus command in the CLI console.
This is what i get:

[pnadmin]$ pnstatus
Configuration error: host name does not match janus.conf::janusBoxName.
Please contact Cisco for support.

Any ideas about this?...

Tonight opening Numbers caused a free update available box advising me to install the latest version of OS X and then download the latest version of numbers. 'OK' is the only choice. Can't even shutdown. Don't want to lose task or upgrade to Yosemite

Back up all data.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them, then boot in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Boot again as usual and test.

Assuming iPhoto 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

I do not have a Sync tab in my options box. Do I need an updated version of Firefox?

Does this app not provide a video on how to sync it with itunes and then sync it to your phone.
If you have transfer the ringtone to your computer, play the ringtone - then it should move to your tones folder in itunes. Just make sure when you play the ringtone it's plays in itunes.

IPS Signature Update Support on MARS?

Hello,
Is it possible to update MARS to understand and process the latest/greatest release version of IPS signatures we have deployed to our production sensors? All I have been able to find so far are the periodic update packages released as software downloads for MARS, the most recent example being the csmars-4.2.6.2458.pkg update. I have to believe I'm missing something something here.

That's what I was afraid of. I have to hope that they address this soon; we've been using VMS for years and have grown used to having signatures understood as soon as they are updated. Interestingly we also run a 3rd party SIM that tends to run about a week behind Cisco's signature release to the time they (3rd party SIM vendor) release their pattern update to support the latest Cisco signatures...

How to edit text box in Acrobat XI, created by prior versions of Acrobat

Hi, I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out how to edit a text box that was created in an older verison of Acrobat and used to fill out a form.
In my case, I've added text boxes over pre-existing text using an older version of Acrobat.
When I try to click on the text box, however, it seems to pick up on the pre-existing text and not allow me to edit the text box that I created in the past.

Try to edit the text with the 'Add Text Comment' tool which resides in Comment pane. The text used to fill the form may have been written as annotation, hence when you are trying to edit those with editing tools, original text is being edited.

MARS 6.0.4 reporting for IPS 7.0 Global Correlation Reputation Filtering

Does anyone know if there is a report available in MARS to see what IP addresses were denied by Reputation Filtering on IPS 7.0?
I found a report that shows attacks that were prevented due to global correlation score, but not for packets denied by Reputation Filtering.

Thanks for the reply, but what I am looking for is reporting on what packets were dropped with Reputation Filtering(doesn't have a report in MARS) Not the GLobal Correlation risk rating blocks(Which does have a report available in MARS).
