MARS - devices not reporting

I have been implimenting a CS-MARS 50 and have it upgraded to 4.2.5. After the upgrade I started receiving the following error:
Inactive CS-MARS reporting device
When I pull up the incident, it lists 100 devices, about 25% of the devices I have configured on the MARS.
Any ideas as to what would case such a large drop in data?

The same thing happened to me back when we first implemented MARS (v3.4). Chatty devices don't produce these alarms for me (like IPSs, Firewalls, etc) almost ever, so I decided to disable the Inactive Rule and clone it three times. Then I changed the Device in each rule to firewalls, IPSs and routers respectively. So now I have three rules to look for Inactive devices that I really care about. My switches never produce any events, so I was getting this alarm repeatedly from them. Now I just ignore stuff from the switches, CSA agents, etc. Not sure if this will work for you, but ...
** please rate if this helps*
Cheers,
Jay

  • ActiveSync Device Statistics report for users does not show Device Phone number

    HI ,
I have trying to run a Active-sync Device Statistics report to get all the details for active Sync users, but report show only last four digit of  device phone number for few users and for most of the users its blank.
Is there way if we can get Device Phone number for active sync users.
    Thanks,
    Pradeep Kumar

    Hi,
Yes i have tried all of these transactions, these all relate to individual sales orders or production order costs.
Im looking for a report showing the costs for a range of sales order line items, exaclty like KOB1 but for sales orders.  KVBI does exactly what I want but the material filed is not populated.
Is there a way to populate this field as part of the settlement?
    Cheers
    Phil.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.2- problems: Wired Detailed Device Inventory report not running / Cisco 5500 WLCs no listed in subgroup

New installation of Prime Infrastructure 2.2.0 (PI-VA-2.2.0.0.158.ova)
    installed fixes/software/device packs:
    PI 2.2.1 Poodle Fix (installed)
    PI 2.2.1 Maintenance Release (installed,ncs stopped,rebooted)
    Prime Infrastrucutre 2.2 Device Pack 3 (installed,ncs stopped,rebooted)
    Licences installed (ncs stopped,rebooted)
Added all devices via Bulk Import (Inventory>Device Management>Network Devices)
    Problem 1:
The Cisco 5500 WLCs are not listed in Inventory>Device Management>Network Devices (see screen shot) but listed under "All Devices"!
The Cisco 4400 WLCs and the 8500 WLCs are listed within their subgroup.
    Devices are in "Managed State"
    Problem 2: fixed! (Browser issue)
    Problem 3:
Unable to run "Wired Detailed Device Inventory" report because I get the error message: Failed to run report: Unable to retrieve data for: Chassis Information (if Chassis Information is selected, if System Information is selected I get the error message with ...retrieve data for:System Information)
All devices do have an "Admin Status = Managed" and the Last Inventory Collections Status = Completed.
Has anyone the same issues or a tip for me?
Another topic, the "User Defined Fileds" are not exported when with running a "Device Export" (Inventory > Device Management > Network Devices). ;-(

    Hallo Bastian,
I think you still have browser issue, Using IE is still the best with Prime.
I have exactly same prime 2.2 and installed fixes/software/device packs.
I have no problem I can see all views. I use now IE 11, with Chrome 42.0.2311.90 and firefox 37.01 I have problems too with lots of views. You have not tell what browser + version you have.
Since you have same prime 2.2 as me. I have other problems, can you check yours?

  • Device Manager reported driver missing for Officejet 7310 printer

I used the full-feature install software downloaded from HP site to setup an Officejet 7310 printer on a Lenovo T540p laptop with Windows 8.1 64-bit OS.  The install and the printer appear to work correctly as I can print and I can also scan from the HP Solution Center utility.  However, the Device Manager reports two errors/anomolies as follows.
Under the "Multifunction adapters" entry the Officejet 7300 series Properties shows the Device Status as:
This device is disabled. (Code 22)
Click Enable Device to enable this device.
Under the "Other devices" entry theOfficejet 7300 series Properties shows the Device Status as:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
I find this a bit baffling as I believe the install software is supposed to include the driver(s), plus the printer seems to function (which could be due to default Microsoft drivers).
Any thoughts on how things got in this state and how to recover would be deeply appreciated as I prefer to not "ignore" the error messages.
    Thanks,
    Glenn
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Yes I was able to remove the USB instance and rename the network-connected printer instance as the sole printer.  I thought that should work, but I was a bit paranoid given the other weird things that happened with the package install.
I'm good to go; thanks again.

  • Can't mount external HDD? "usb 1-1: Device not accepting address"

I just bought a Medion HDDRIVE2GO (Full Speed) from Aldi, and at first when I plugged it in, everything went fine (well, I thought so). Appearently it had some errors with HAL not being able to read the HDD (error name="(unset)").

I found this post on linux forums which say It's a HAL related problem.
"rmmod ehci_hcd" made it work for some of these guys Which one of them explains It's a data speed issue. Cables.., 2.0 1.0, that sort of things. Read it, I bet you'll get more out of it, It's old though.
Try removing the module, plugging the drive, check dmesg, and mount manually.

  • Help I itunes will not recognize my iphone or ipod. Trouble with USB driver, device not running in safe mode, and HDCP not supported.

Help! When I connect my iphone or ipod touch to my computer, windows recognizes my device but itunes will not. I can still see my songs, videos, and access the itunes store but my phone and itunes store have no connection so it does me no good. I have for 2 days now tried every trouble shooting method posted with no luck. I think I may have finally found a lead. My Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is showing up under portable mobile devices while it is supposed to be showing up under universal serial Bus controllers from my understanding? Also, while running my diagnostic report under itunes it also says itunes is not running in safe mode, it is not showing enabled in windows firewall (which it is checked), and the HDCP is not supported. I don't know what to do? I am in tears here, someone please help!!!

  • HP Pavilion dv-4087CL Notebook receiving : Boot Device Not Found-Please install an operating system

My Duaghter is out of the country studing abroad.  Her PC would no longer boot up so she took it to a support shop. They replaced her hard drive, fixed an over heating issue and reloaded her PC.  Now she is getting this new error message and she is desparate to get this fixed.  We have owned this PC for only 2 years. I am sure it is out of support.
HP Pavilion dv-4087CL Notebook receiving : Boot Device Not Found-Please install an operating system on your hard disk.
She took it back to the support shop and they upgraded her bios, but that did not fix the error message.
Please help!  What can she do  now.

    Hi:
Normally that means the hard drive failed.
I know it was replaced but maybe the replacement drive went out too.
There is a hard drive diagostics tool your daughter can run in the BIOS.
I suggest she run it (enter the BIOS by tapping the F10 key as soon as she sees the HP welcome screen).
Then once in the BIOS, there should be a diagnostics menu..one for memory and one for the hard drive.
She should select the hard drive diagnostics application and see what it reports.
Then go from there based on what is reported.

  • BPM_DATA_COLLECTION fails with (Output device "" not known) error

    Hi all,
I have an issue with Output BPM_DATA_COLLECTION_1 job in the satellite system  failing with 'Output device "" not known error.  Since it is collecting data for Solution Manager system why does is it trying to find an output device.
It did not fail before and now I added another key figure (custom one) which is done the same way the other custom monitors are done in "Z_BPM_ECU_COLLECTOR" report and then in /SSA/EXM program, but the collector job started to fail.
Also, for some reason there are two BPM_DATA_COLLECTION jobs, one is BPM_DATA_COLLECTION_1 and the other is BPM_DATA_COLLECTION_2.  _1 runs every 5 min and _2 is less frequent. They both seem to runt the same job which is /SSA/EXS. Why are there two jobs scheduled from solution manager in my satellite system?
Thank you very much for your help!

I am experiencing this same issue in our ECC 6.0 system.  We currently have ST-A/PI release 01M_ECC600 level 0001 applied to our system.  These jobs finish successfully in SM37, but I'm seeing the same error messages in our system logs (SM21).
When I try to update the output device that is associated with these jobs, the user ID running the jobs is not valid since it's user type is Communication Data.
Does anyone know if it ok to change the user for this job? Should it be run by DDIC?  I believe the jobs were created automatically when we applied ST-A/PI release 01M_ECC600 level 0001.

  • Windows Server 2012 WU agent not reporting to SCCM 2012

    Hi folks,
Having a bit of trouble tracking down this issue with a particular WS2012 SCCM client. Unlike my other WS2012 servers that are SCCM clients in the same device collection (confirmed that this device is in the list), this one has a completely blank updates
compliance report which indicates that it's not reporting back at all.
In SCCM the policy request and heartbeat DDR are current, with last status message 5 days ago. Client activity is 'Active'.
WindowsUpdate.log has only this message when wuauclt /detectnow is run:
'Can not perform non-interactive scan if AU is interactive-only'
Couldn't find much on the interwebs about that message. I've tried re-installing the SCCM agent from scratch a few times. Ideas? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

    Hi Jason,
Yes I have reviewed the logs in their entirety, I was editing to provide highlights.

  • LMS 3.2 Inventory collection - Job timeouts after ~5h, all devices "Not attempted"

    Hello All,
We have a strange problem with LMS 3.2 regarding Inventory Collection.
This problem started immediatelly after the LMS installation/upgrade (LMS 3.2 was installed on a new server, and LMS 2.6 database migrated to it).
All Jobs finish as failed, with all devices "not attempted".
Job hangs for a five and a half hours and then reports failed status.
The symptoms are the same for scheduled jobs and manually created jobs.
I also have opened a TAC case, but it seems that nothing relevant can be found in the IC_Server.log.
Also, according to a packet capture, it seems that LMS does collect SNMP data from devices after a job is started...
We tried to upgrade RME 4.3.0 to 4.3.1.
One Job immediately after the upgrade was succesful (Inventory was collected for manually selected device), but the next day all Inventory Jobs were failing again with the same symptoms...
Does anyone have a sugestion where to look for a problem trace?
    Thanks in advance!
    Ragards,
    Jasmina

    Hi Jasmina ,
Please chech the Existing MDF pacakge :
go to common service > software center > device update >>> check the checkbox for Cisco works common service   and click on check for updates
--if there is an Update , please upgarde the MDF version..
--Similarly look for any Available Device Pacakges update for RME , if there are Upgarde all the Device Pacakages ....
--After all of the above Task is done , Now re-run the Job and it still fails then share the IC_server.log  again..
    Thanks--

  • [SOLVED] Device not found and kernel panic

    Hi,
I'm having an issue with the kernel. I get this weird error while booting:
    Booting the kernel.
    :: running early hook [udev]
    :: running hook [udev]
    :: Triggering uevents...
ERROR: device '' not found. Skipping fsck.
ERROR: Unable to find root device ''.
You are being dropped to a recovery shell
Type 'exit' to try and continue booting
sh: can't access tty: job control turned off
    [rootfs /]# _
I don't have the slightest idea what to type in that shell, so I exit (^D) and get an error with its shell, another one and finally a kernel panic. Do I have to report the other two error as well? I think this might be related to a recent change in my syslinux.cfg. I wanted to add hibernation cabability to my arch, so I added "resume=/dev/sda2" (my swap) to kernel options. It should not yield such a result though. As a matter of fact, I get it even if I remove that parameter at runtime. For now, I managed to boot with Fallback Initramfs.
    Here is syslinux.cfg, as well:
    # Config file for Syslinux -
    # /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg
    # Comboot modules:
    # * menu.c32 - provides a text menu
    # * vesamenu.c32 - provides a graphical menu
    # * chain.c32 - chainload MBRs, partition boot sectors, Windows bootloaders
    # * hdt.c32 - hardware detection tool
    # * reboot.c32 - reboots the system
    # * poweroff.com - shutdown the system
    # To Use: Copy the respective files from /usr/lib/syslinux to /boot/syslinux.
    # If /usr and /boot are on the same file system, symlink the files instead
    # of copying them.
    # If you do not use a menu, a 'boot:' prompt will be shown and the system
    # will boot automatically after 5 seconds.

Also, don't use "root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/...", that's just wrong. Udev kicks in after the bootloader phase.

And don't forget to mark it as solved.

  • Device not charging

    device not charging

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Admittedly the labeling is hard to read but, if you use a magnifier and squint your eyes, you'll see "Output 5.1V, 2.1A."  The symbol between volts and amps is the symbol for DC.  Do NOT use an iPhone charger.  Do NOT use an iPod charger.  Do NOT use a computer's USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • Usb block special device not writable

This is a system programming / kernel level issue.
I'm doing some hardware development on Mac OS X. When I plug the USB device in question in, I get a message box like this: "Disk Insertion: The disk you inserted was not readable by the computer" with two options, Ignore and Eject. If I choose ignore, the USB device can be accessed via the block special device /dev/disk1. However, /dev/disk1 cannot be opened for writing, even as root: the open(2) call always fails with EACCESS.
A "diskutil info /dev/disk1" reports "Read Only: Yes." Could this be the issue? How does Mac OS decide to set this flag?
FYI, a userspace program that interacts with this device file has so far been ported successfully to Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD. There's no read-only toggle switch on the device itself.
Thanks in advance for any info you may have.

Ok, I've managed to rebuild the IOUSBMassStorage kext from source, with DEBUG_LEVEL cranked way up. What follows is the syslog trace that comes right after plugging in the device. The first error we hit is kIOUSBPipeStalled, and then things finally snowball up to kIOReturnNotResponding. I'm no USB expert, but shouldn't a call to IOUSBPipe::ClearPipeStall(true) have been made pretty soon after the first error?
